A verdict of accidental death. At inquest heard how a man was killed

:00:13.:00:19.

on a level crossing earlier this year. A total of 45 years in jail

:00:20.:00:25.

for the men found guilty of a number of robberies in our region. They

:00:26.:00:28.

stole nearly a quarter of ?1 million.

:00:38.:00:48.

Good evening. It was described by the coroner as a nightmare scenario.

:00:49.:00:59.

Today an inquest heard how a disabled man from Banbury died when

:01:00.:01:03.

the car he was in, was hit by a train on a level crossing. The car's

:01:04.:01:07.

engine failed on the Sandy Lane level crossing at Yarnton in

:01:08.:01:10.

Oxfordshire. His partner who was driving tried repeatedly to restart

:01:11.:01:12.

the vehicle, as the train approached. Two cars have been hit

:01:13.:01:17.

on this crossing in the last ten months. The court was told the

:01:18.:01:45.

engine failed as they drove onto the crossing. The signals began warning

:01:46.:01:49.

them a train was on the way. Mr Kimberley remained at the wheel and

:01:50.:01:53.

witnesses described him panicking and trying to restart the car. The

:01:54.:01:58.

inquest heard around 45 seconds passed between these warning lights

:01:59.:02:03.

going off and the train passing through. In that time, a female

:02:04.:02:07.

passenger from another car ran onto the crossing trying to help. As the

:02:08.:02:13.

train approached, she ran back to safety and saw as the train hit the

:02:14.:02:18.

car with the two men still inside. This year, nine cars have been hit

:02:19.:02:23.

by train is on level crossings in the UK and four people have been

:02:24.:02:29.

killed. On this Sandy Lane crossing, two cars have been hit in the past

:02:30.:02:32.

ten months leading to questions over the crossing's safety. The British

:02:33.:02:37.

transport police said today there were no defects to the barrier when

:02:38.:02:41.

Thomas died. Network rail said the warning signals had worked

:02:42.:02:50.

absolutely correctly. His two nieces attended the inquest today. There

:02:51.:02:53.

was a verdict of accidental death and they spoke of the horror that

:02:54.:02:56.

must have been felt moments before the impact. His family asked network

:02:57.:03:03.

rail whether there was anyway the train could have been stopped if

:03:04.:03:06.

someone had alerted them to the fact that a car was stuck on the tracks?

:03:07.:03:10.

The answer was that there would not have been enough time for the train

:03:11.:03:15.

to break. The rail company said this accident was the result of an

:03:16.:03:19.

extraordinary set of circumstances. Three men have been jailed for a

:03:20.:03:24.

total of 45 years for a ruthless and callous number of robberies across

:03:25.:03:26.

Oxfordshire and elsewhere in the South. The men stole nearly a

:03:27.:03:31.

?250,000 from three banks and robbed a series of shops. A fourth man was

:03:32.:03:36.

cleared of all charges. Today the Judge praised police for catching

:03:37.:03:38.

the hardened and greedy criminals. A moment of terror caught on camera.

:03:39.:03:50.

In December two years ago masked men broke into this Carphone Warehouse

:03:51.:03:55.

near Reading wielding crowbars. It was one of a string of robberies

:03:56.:03:59.

across the south in which thousands of pounds in goods and cash was

:04:00.:04:03.

stolen. Police first launched a major investigation after a

:04:04.:04:05.

Nationwide Building Society was robbed in Havant in Hampshire. On a

:04:06.:04:10.

Friday night two years ago security staff were refilling the cash

:04:11.:04:12.

machine when men smashed their way in with a sledgehammer and stole

:04:13.:04:23.

?50,000. The local community or shocked by it. It takes years and

:04:24.:04:29.

months to get back together. A lot of tenants here were dismayed that

:04:30.:04:32.

it had happened in their precincts. Soon after two other banks were

:04:33.:04:35.

robbed in Fareham and Farnborough. Police began to link the crimes.

:04:36.:04:38.

After a long complex investigation, Andrew Smith was

:04:39.:04:41.

today jailed for 11 years for conspiracy to rob. Richard Loveridge

:04:42.:04:45.

and Stewart Last were sentenced to a total of 17 years for conspiracy to

:04:46.:04:51.

rob and to burgle. Police say these two men are responsible for dozens

:04:52.:04:54.

of crimes across Berkshire, Oxfordshire, Wiltshire, Hampshire

:04:55.:04:56.

and Surrey, and they made hundred of thousands of pounds which funded a

:04:57.:04:59.

lifestyle including Rolex watches and Gucci shoes.

:05:00.:05:08.

They were prolific in their nature, ruthless in the way they carried out

:05:09.:05:17.

the axe. They used violence and weapons. By convicting these

:05:18.:05:19.

criminals, the prevention of the crimes they would have been

:05:20.:05:23.

committing is immeasurable. The Judge Sarah Munro QC said their

:05:24.:05:26.

meticulously planned crimes were motivated by greed and would have

:05:27.:05:29.

been terrifying experiences for all those who witnessed them.

:05:30.:05:36.

David Cameron says he'll fight very hard for a Children's Centre in

:05:37.:05:39.

Chipping Norton which is facing closure. It's one of more than 40 in

:05:40.:05:45.

the county which are in the firing line, as a result of budget cuts

:05:46.:05:48.

planned by Oxfordshire County Council. During Prime Minister's

:05:49.:05:50.

Questions, David Cameron was asked about his support for the campaign

:05:51.:06:00.

to save the centre. I support children's centres across the

:06:01.:06:03.

country. In spite of difficult decisions that have to be made

:06:04.:06:08.

across the country, the number of centres has reduced by 1%. Like all

:06:09.:06:14.

members of Parliament, I fight for services in my constituency. But

:06:15.:06:17.

Labour leader Ed Miliband said it highlights the Prime Minister's

:06:18.:06:22.

double standards. Things are so bad he has even signed a petition in his

:06:23.:06:27.

own area to save his local children's centre. Can you clarify?

:06:28.:06:36.

Is the petition addressed to his local Tory council or is he taking

:06:37.:06:41.

the right to the top? And the leader of Oxfordshire County Council has

:06:42.:06:44.

told us that in order to make extra savings, it must look at all areas

:06:45.:06:47.

but childrens' centres will be considered carefully.

:06:48.:06:50.

It's been helping carers for nearly two decades, but now the last carers

:06:51.:06:53.

group in Oxfordshire is facing closure. The South and Vale Carers

:06:54.:06:57.

Centre provides help and support to people of all ages but it's running

:06:58.:07:02.

out of money. Staff claim it will have to shut for good next year, if

:07:03.:07:05.

there's not enough funding. Charlotte Stacey reports. Ada is a

:07:06.:07:16.

full`time carer. Her children have different levels of disability and

:07:17.:07:20.

her husband suffered a brain injury years ago and cannot work. The South

:07:21.:07:25.

and Vale Carers Centre help her with the benefits. You can imagine the

:07:26.:07:31.

impact. They help us with the forms and they are helping us to live. I

:07:32.:07:36.

get very emotional because I don't know really how other people will be

:07:37.:07:49.

able to cope on their own. County Council funding was withdrawn two

:07:50.:07:53.

years ago. They have survived as an independent charity since. They have

:07:54.:07:58.

supported over 1000 carers and a fifth of them were young carers. It

:07:59.:08:03.

helped carers claim ?1 million in benefits and took many of them en

:08:04.:08:07.

masse by trips. The charity has been going for nearly 20 years and has

:08:08.:08:10.

helped thousands people in Oxfordshire. It needs around

:08:11.:08:14.

?200,000 a year to survive but despite fund`raising, the money is

:08:15.:08:20.

not coming in. There won't be a service that replaces this. There

:08:21.:08:25.

are other services in the county but they don't provide this support in

:08:26.:08:31.

people's homes. That is where our carers say they really felt it

:08:32.:08:35.

helped them. If it closes, the nearest centres will be in Swindon

:08:36.:08:41.

and Redding. For Ada, she hopes the vital support she has had will

:08:42.:08:44.

continue to be there in the future in `` in the future.

:08:45.:08:48.

People living near Oxford's park and rides say that recent price rises

:08:49.:08:52.

have led to an increase in commuter parking on their streets. New

:08:53.:08:54.

short`term charges were introduced at Water Eaton and Thornhill last

:08:55.:08:58.

week adding to the charges brought in last year. The solution being

:08:59.:09:02.

proposed by Oxfordshire County Council will make parking harder for

:09:03.:09:10.

those visiting the city. Our solution to the parking problem

:09:11.:09:16.

is to have controlled parking zone making it as little nuisance to

:09:17.:09:19.

people as possible without having to bar `` Mark out too many bays. And

:09:20.:09:26.

the BBC Radio Oxford Big Tour around the Ring Road continues all this

:09:27.:09:29.

week. And on Friday from one o'clock, Kat Orman will be live in

:09:30.:09:32.

North Hinksey at the Fishes Pub, learning about village life just off

:09:33.:09:34.

Oxford's busiest road. British American Tobacco is closing

:09:35.:09:42.

its office in Aylesbury. Oxford House was the headquarters of

:09:43.:09:44.

Rothmans International from 1960 ` until it was taken over by BAT 12

:09:45.:09:50.

years ago. The 60 members of staff are being offered the option of

:09:51.:09:53.

re`locating to the company's new headquarters in Richmond`upon`Thames

:09:54.:09:58.

next April. Once back home it's all too easy for

:09:59.:10:02.

some to forget how much they're drinking. Now middle aged,

:10:03.:10:04.

professional people are being warned to cut back. Figures released in

:10:05.:10:08.

Buckinghamshire show many in the county are drinking well over the

:10:09.:10:12.

recommended limit. The result is an increase in drinking related

:10:13.:10:15.

diseases, a huge bill for local NHS services.

:10:16.:10:21.

Falling in the street. Fighting with police. These are the sort of images

:10:22.:10:28.

many associate with drinking too much. But according to new research,

:10:29.:10:34.

that isn't always the case. Meet Nick Johnson. He's a teacher at

:10:35.:10:38.

Oxford University. He's a married man and he's now recovering from an

:10:39.:10:48.

alcohol addiction. I stupidly thought in an arrogant way that I

:10:49.:10:53.

could teach and drink. As the years went on, I realised I couldn't

:10:54.:10:56.

because it was changing my mental attitude. Also it was making me

:10:57.:11:01.

increasingly more marginalised. It's people like Nick who Buckinghamshire

:11:02.:11:04.

County Council is targeting in a new campaign. The aim is to change the

:11:05.:11:08.

perception that only young binge drinkers are putting their health at

:11:09.:11:17.

risk.. Adults who are drinking themselves into poor health without

:11:18.:11:22.

bothering anybody else, often they are completely unaware they are

:11:23.:11:27.

doing it. They are drinking at home but drinking regularly. In

:11:28.:11:29.

Buckinghamshire one in four adults drinks above the recommended limits?

:11:30.:11:33.

It's the 45 ` 64`year`olds who drink the most. The result is a health

:11:34.:11:45.

bill of around ?28.5 million. It is hoped the campaign will encourage

:11:46.:11:50.

people to think for they drink. That's all from me for the moment.

:11:51.:11:54.

I'll have the headlines at 8pm and a full bulletin at 10.25. Now more of

:11:55.:11:56.

today's stories with Sally Taylor. have been terrifying experiences for

:11:57.:12:10.

all those who witnessed them. Still to come in this evening's South

:12:11.:12:14.

Today... It was a long night for our trasnport correspondent, Paul

:12:15.:12:16.

Clifton. You can see the railway being dug up here. It is 1am and the

:12:17.:12:26.

tracks between Salisbury and Andover are being relayed.

:12:27.:12:36.

A 34`year`old man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering a woman in

:12:37.:12:39.

Worthing. Police were called after the 50`year`old was found dead in

:12:40.:12:43.

her ground floor flat in Heron Court. Detectives want to hear from

:12:44.:12:46.

anyone who may have seen a man and woman arguing in Bedford Row on

:12:47.:12:49.

Monday afternoon. The postmortem examination took place earlier

:12:50.:12:51.

today. Formal redundancy notices have been

:12:52.:12:53.

issued today by the Hampshire rubber manufacturer Polimeri Europa, which

:12:54.:12:56.

announced the closure of its factory at Hythe near Southampton earlier

:12:57.:12:59.

this month. Trade Union representatives met with management

:13:00.:13:02.

from the company this morning to try to save the jobs of the 300 people

:13:03.:13:06.

at the site, including more than 160 contractors. The GMB union says that

:13:07.:13:11.

talks will continue next week. As the UK aid for the relief effort

:13:12.:13:15.

in the Phillipines continues to build, two Portsmouth`based warships

:13:16.:13:18.

are playing a full part in tackling the humanitarian crisis there. The

:13:19.:13:22.

helicopter carrier HMS Illustrious is taking on supplies before heading

:13:23.:13:25.

to islands devastated by Typhoon Haiyan. When she arrives, she'll

:13:26.:13:30.

take over from HMS Daring, whose crew is already hard at work

:13:31.:13:33.

distributing supplies and helping to rebuild shattered Filipino

:13:34.:13:42.

communities. Steve Humphrey reports. The crew of the Portsmouth `based

:13:43.:13:46.

destroyer HMS Daring helping people in some of the most remote parts of

:13:47.:13:53.

the Philippines which were struck by Typhoon Haiyan. The sailors have

:13:54.:14:00.

been lending a hand wherever they can and working closely with local

:14:01.:14:06.

people and with charities. These guys are going on top of the roof to

:14:07.:14:15.

fix the roof. It is just so they can have a good, steady roof on the

:14:16.:14:23.

school. Our first task is to clear this area so kids can start using it

:14:24.:14:27.

again as a school. We are blessed and happy to have the Navy here to

:14:28.:14:34.

help us rebuild our classrooms. The ship's helicopter has been

:14:35.:14:38.

indispensable, bringing people and supplies was up one of the biggest

:14:39.:14:43.

priorities here is restoring supplies of safe drinking water.

:14:44.:14:48.

There are six wells on the island, so we need to establish the

:14:49.:14:51.

condition of each of those. We have brought water testing kits, and we

:14:52.:14:59.

can provide a stable water supply. It will replace HMS Illustrious. The

:15:00.:15:12.

RAF has also been delivering supplies. Among the planes was a C

:15:13.:15:20.

17 cargo plane from Brize Norton, which delivered heavy equipment. So

:15:21.:15:27.

far, the British public have donated ?35 million to the relief effort.

:15:28.:15:36.

Anti`cuts campaigners have held a small protest outside Southampton

:15:37.:15:40.

City Council's headquarters. The demonstration came as Keith Morrell,

:15:41.:15:43.

the leader of the Councillors Against Cuts Group proposed a motion

:15:44.:15:46.

calling on central government to stop reducing funding for local

:15:47.:15:50.

councils. The city council has to save ?20 million in next year's

:15:51.:15:54.

budget. Now, have a look at this... It

:15:55.:16:00.

covers up to half a mile each night, digging up old sleepers and

:16:01.:16:05.

replacing the rail track. This giant train is replacing the line between

:16:06.:16:08.

Salisbury and Andover for the first time in 50 years. It operates five

:16:09.:16:13.

times faster than conventional gangs of workers. While it means

:16:14.:16:17.

disruption for late`night passengers, the alternative would be

:16:18.:16:21.

almost a year of weekend closures. Our transport correspondent, Paul

:16:22.:16:24.

Clifton, spent the night watching it in action.

:16:25.:16:31.

It is midnight. It is well below freezing. The men here are used to

:16:32.:16:40.

that. They work four nights a week. The British rail network is busier

:16:41.:16:48.

than usual. It is carrying bigger and heavier trains than before. We

:16:49.:16:51.

need to keep up with that. This is the most efficient way of doing

:16:52.:16:57.

that. At one third of a mile, this train is so long that it needs its

:16:58.:17:01.

own railway running along the top, feeding the machine with new

:17:02.:17:05.

concrete sleepers. The old wooden ones are dug up and stored. The

:17:06.:17:12.

track bed is scraped, with the new line being laid and fixed in place.

:17:13.:17:16.

All directly underneath the slowly moving train. In effect, we have a

:17:17.:17:22.

moving factory building a railway whilst it runs on it. The Swiss

:17:23.:17:28.

built train, with 80 support crew, can relay up to half a mile of track

:17:29.:17:33.

each night. That is five times more than a gang of track workers could

:17:34.:17:37.

achieve in a shift. Doing this the old way would have meant a whole

:17:38.:17:41.

year of closing the row way every weekend. This is a track we were

:17:42.:17:48.

worried about. It had a lot of speed astringents last year, cause a lot

:17:49.:17:52.

of delayed to our customers was not just here but because trains late

:17:53.:17:56.

going into Waterloo, it causes a lot of delay around Waterloo. We are

:17:57.:18:02.

really pleased to renew this track. The last time the whole track was

:18:03.:18:05.

renewed here, the trains look like this. Since then, bright lines have

:18:06.:18:10.

closed, sidings have been removed, the work should mean more reliable

:18:11.:18:17.

journeys on this increasingly busy route. Nearby, Grateley station is

:18:18.:18:24.

deserted. The work means that late`night services are placed by

:18:25.:18:28.

buses. Working four nights a week, the train will reach Andover before

:18:29.:18:34.

Christmas and then work in the opposite direction, getting to

:18:35.:18:42.

Salisbury by the end of January. He is tired today, I can tell you!

:18:43.:18:53.

You will be tired, listening to the cricket.

:18:54.:19:03.

The Ashes starts tonight. We're just over five hours from the

:19:04.:19:07.

start of the Ashes at the Gabba in Brisbane. The South's three

:19:08.:19:09.

first`class counties are all set to be represented in the England team.

:19:10.:19:13.

Surrey's Kevin Pietersen will play his 100th Test, while his county

:19:14.:19:15.

colleague Chris Tremlett has been tipped for selection as the third

:19:16.:19:18.

seam bowler. Hampshire batsman Michael Carberry is set to make his

:19:19.:19:21.

second Test appearance. While the biggest doubt concerns Sussex

:19:22.:19:24.

wicketkeeper Matt Prior, who has been battling a calf injury. Play

:19:25.:19:28.

gets underway at midnight UK time. Good luck if you are staying up,

:19:29.:19:34.

tried to watch it all . It wasn't a good night for England

:19:35.:19:38.

at Wembley, as they went down 1`0 to Germany. But the Southampton captain

:19:39.:19:41.

Adam Lallana turned in another performance that caught the eye of

:19:42.:19:44.

England manager Roy Hodgson. Hodgson called Lallana a "major find", and

:19:45.:19:47.

said that the 25`year`old had played himself right into contention for a

:19:48.:19:51.

spot on the plane to next year's World Cup in Brazil. It was only

:19:52.:19:55.

Lallana's second cap last night but now his sights are firmly fixed on

:19:56.:19:59.

reaching Rio next summer. It is where I want to be playing

:20:00.:20:02.

week in, week out. It has given me even more drive to go back to my

:20:03.:20:06.

club and the performing well each week. I am desperate to be involved

:20:07.:20:11.

in the next squad and get to Brazil. A teenager from Southampton Boxing

:20:12.:20:14.

Club is celebrating winning a prestigious gold medal. 15`year`old

:20:15.:20:16.

Ryan Garner took the European Junior Amateur Title in Russia and now has

:20:17.:20:20.

long`term ambitions of the 2020 Olympics and ultimately turning

:20:21.:20:28.

professional. Behind the gloves, Ryan Garner is a

:20:29.:20:33.

determined young man with big plans for his career. Having lost in the

:20:34.:20:38.

first round last year, winning his 54 kilograms weight division this

:20:39.:20:41.

time demonstrated a huge leap forward. I won the National 's twice

:20:42.:20:52.

and another jab Egypt once was nothing is as big as this. I have

:20:53.:20:56.

been to Chev Richards as big as this and did not get as far. ``

:20:57.:21:04.

championships as big as this. It was physically demanding, with four

:21:05.:21:11.

bouts in six days. We were all tired but I knew that if I dug deep, I

:21:12.:21:15.

could be European champion and make everyone proud. Victory over

:21:16.:21:21.

Ireland's Martin Stokes sealed the gold medal, a fitting reward for the

:21:22.:21:27.

man who made captain for the England squad. It brought a smile to my

:21:28.:21:36.

face. We tell him what he needs to hear rather than what he wants to

:21:37.:21:39.

hear. That is important for a young lad like that. If he steers clear of

:21:40.:21:45.

injuries, and stays in love with the game, he knows that he could have a

:21:46.:21:53.

great future in the sport. He is eligible to join the GB squad, which

:21:54.:22:01.

would make a sweet start to 2014. Another one whose progress we will

:22:02.:22:05.

keep an eye on. This week, we're meeting the three

:22:06.:22:09.

finalists hoping to be named the BBC South Sports Unsung Hero for 2013.

:22:10.:22:12.

Tonight, we feature Penny Jann, team manager and secretary for a riding

:22:13.:22:16.

club in Surrey. Just walking for the moment. For

:22:17.:22:20.

three decades, Penny has been the driving force behind this riding

:22:21.:22:26.

club. I don't know how anyone could put in that much. She is the glue

:22:27.:22:31.

that holds every thing together. On top of a full`time job, she devotes

:22:32.:22:34.

endless hours each week, often staying into the early hours to

:22:35.:22:37.

organise events. She would not have it any other way. I enjoy seeing

:22:38.:22:44.

them enjoy themselves, it is great for me when that happens. That team

:22:45.:22:48.

spirit and atmosphere that you get from that. She is the mother of the

:22:49.:22:54.

club, she gets to know everyone and she makes it a very happy and

:22:55.:22:59.

enjoyable place to be. Well done, all of you. She has helped thousands

:23:00.:23:05.

of people, inspiring them to have a go, no matter their ability. She

:23:06.:23:10.

kept on and on at me about competing. I kept saying no, I am

:23:11.:23:13.

not a competitor. She persuaded me to do the pairs competition and, to

:23:14.:23:19.

our surprise, we qualified and won it! Which, at my age, was

:23:20.:23:26.

wonderful. I have had to retire because I cannot do any better.

:23:27.:23:29.

Penny's dedication is clear and arises from a true passion for the

:23:30.:23:35.

sport. I do believe in riding clubs. It is a wonderful movement was a bit

:23:36.:23:38.

rings people in and gives them a chance to do things. It may not

:23:39.:23:47.

inspire them to be analytical rider but they will get on a horse and it

:23:48.:23:52.

gives them an opportunity to do that.

:23:53.:23:54.

We'll be meeting our third finalist tomorrow night.

:23:55.:23:56.

And, finally, there was a blow today for Poole Speedway. Their captain

:23:57.:23:59.

and former world champion Chris Holder has confirmed he won't be

:24:00.:24:02.

returning to the Pirates for the 2014 season. The Australian suffered

:24:03.:24:05.

a broken femur during a bad crash last year. He's decided to reduce

:24:06.:24:09.

his commitments around the world as he returns to action. Holder has

:24:10.:24:12.

tweeted, though, that it's not the end of his Poole career and promoter

:24:13.:24:16.

Matt Ford says they could call on him on a short`term basis during

:24:17.:24:21.

2014. One bit of news just in. If you are

:24:22.:24:27.

an Oxford United fan, a match has been called off due to a waterlogged

:24:28.:24:36.

pitch. That is off, I am afraid. Spare a thought for our colleagues,

:24:37.:24:40.

who will have gone to Gateshead to bring you commentary and have but a

:24:41.:24:46.

long trip home. Some of the fans will have gone as well!

:24:47.:24:59.

We had thunder storms right across the region. We had reports on our

:25:00.:25:05.

Twitter account. All over the region, we had thunder and hail

:25:06.:25:10.

around midday. Some lovely weather pictures.

:25:11.:25:12.

Chris Grimmett captured this tranquil scene on Hightown Common in

:25:13.:25:14.

Ringwood. Autumn windfall photographed by

:25:15.:25:16.

Ginny Boxall in Chawton in Hampshire. And who knows what is

:25:17.:25:30.

going on here. This photo was taken near Setley

:25:31.:25:34.

Pond in the New Forest by Martin Perry, just as the rain stopped. It

:25:35.:25:38.

will stay cold each day this week and frost is on the card each night

:25:39.:25:43.

as well. A truly feel to things each day and night. Through the course of

:25:44.:25:46.

the night, we will see wintry showers. That may bring the risk of

:25:47.:25:52.

ice, with Tebbit is falling away towards freezing. The wintry showers

:25:53.:25:56.

will continue over the hills with a dusting of snow at lower levels,

:25:57.:26:01.

packs a mix of hail and sleet. The rain showers will continue to the

:26:02.:26:07.

night with lows of 2`3 Celsius and a north`westerly wind that wind will

:26:08.:26:08.

take the edge off temperatures tomorrow. The showers will

:26:09.:26:12.

continue, a wintry mix. Some sunshine on offer and the north

:26:13.:26:17.

easterly wind will take the edge off that averages. There is a 3`4

:26:18.:26:23.

degrees drop from what it should be at this time of year. The showers

:26:24.:26:27.

tomorrow evening will fade away, with clearing skies. Under those

:26:28.:26:31.

clear skies, Inc sheltered spots, there may be a touch of frost in the

:26:32.:26:37.

countryside. Temperatures dropped to 2`3d, but freezing into rural spots.

:26:38.:26:43.

The good news is this area of high pressure continues to build, we will

:26:44.:26:47.

see the wind coming in from the north`west. There is still a cold

:26:48.:26:50.

field of things but the wind will gradually ease. You can see the

:26:51.:26:53.

widening of the isobars as we head through the day. Still the risk of

:26:54.:26:58.

the odd shower, particularly for the southeastern corner of the country.

:26:59.:27:01.

For the rest of the week, we can expected a view wintry showers

:27:02.:27:05.

tomorrow, with a keen north`easterly wind staying with us right through

:27:06.:27:09.

this week. Sunny spells and acquired a day on Friday, although the wind

:27:10.:27:13.

is strong until the end of the day. The winds start to ease as we head

:27:14.:27:17.

to the weekend. There is the risk of a shower Saturday. By Sunday, more

:27:18.:27:25.

cloud and the North wind will make it feel quite raw in the open.

:27:26.:27:30.

It is very, very cold. We will have more for you at 8pm and 10:25pm.

:27:31.:27:35.

Thank you for joining us and make sure you wrap up warm. Thank you for

:27:36.:27:39.

joining us. Good night. I'm Nigel Slater, a cook.

:27:40.:28:09.

And I'm Adam Henson, a farmer. all back in touch with

:28:10.:28:13.

where our food really comes from. You asked me to grow some

:28:14.:28:17.

durum wheat to produce your pasta. Our own eggs, our own flour -

:28:18.:28:20.

couldn't ask for more, really.

:28:21.:28:24.
