That is all from BBC News At Six, I will be back with more | :00:00. | :00:09.
Hello and welcome to South Today from Oxford. Tonight, serious | :00:10. | :00:15.
concerns over legal highs. A coroner has asked the Home Secretary to | :00:16. | :00:19.
consider making one type illegal after the death of a man in Swindon. | :00:20. | :00:26.
And in the firing line, police spend more than half ?1 million of | :00:27. | :00:32.
taxpayers' money on gun licences. Later in the programme, the | :00:33. | :00:37.
Southampton snowboarder setting his sights on Olympic gold. | :00:38. | :00:53.
Good evening. A coroner is to write to the Government asking for a ban | :00:54. | :00:57.
on a drug sold openly in shops and on the internet across the country. | :00:58. | :01:01.
It is perfectly legal and known as AMT. But today it was linked to the | :01:02. | :01:06.
death of a 23`year`old man in Swindon. Christopher Scott took the | :01:07. | :01:11.
tablets on a night out. Five days later, he was dead. | :01:12. | :01:17.
Christopher Scott took two small green tablets during a night out in | :01:18. | :01:21.
July. Three days later, he collapsed, convulsing, twitching, | :01:22. | :01:26.
burning up, and he died in hospital. An inquest into his death today | :01:27. | :01:34.
heard the drug taken was AMT. It is one of many so`called legal highs, | :01:35. | :01:41.
available easily by the internet. The term legal highs is very | :01:42. | :01:44.
misleading. Once you start saying it is a legal thing you assume it has | :01:45. | :01:50.
been tested, it is fine to use, and they get the misconception that it | :01:51. | :01:54.
is an OK thing. The coroner will write to the Home Secretary with his | :01:55. | :01:59.
concerns about this and at least one other death involving AMT. She has | :02:00. | :02:07.
56 days to reply. Last year, there were 52 UK deaths | :02:08. | :02:15.
linked to legal highs. Christopher's dad had this warning | :02:16. | :02:20.
to others considering taking them. Just don't. I understand you want to | :02:21. | :02:26.
have a good time. These legal highs are not worth that risk. It is like | :02:27. | :02:32.
Russian roulette. On Thursday, Christopher's family will meet their | :02:33. | :02:38.
MP and hope the impetus for a ban will stream the unstoppable. `` will | :02:39. | :02:44.
soon be unstoppable. Five people have been taken to hospital after a | :02:45. | :02:50.
crash on the A34 this morning, which caused hours of delays. | :02:51. | :02:53.
A lorry collided with a roadworks vehicle between the Milton and | :02:54. | :02:56.
Marcham interchange, just before 4:30am. If I brigade cut the Lavery | :02:57. | :03:04.
dries out. `` the fire brigade cut the lorry driver out. A man has been | :03:05. | :03:09.
charged by police in connection with a raid on Oxford's Cowley Road in | :03:10. | :03:13.
2011. Mustafa Ahmed of London was arrested | :03:14. | :03:18.
on Saturday night. He has been charged with one count of rape. He | :03:19. | :03:22.
will appear in court on the 2nd of December. Campaigners angry at plans | :03:23. | :03:28.
to scrap some free transport to schools in Oxfordshire has formally | :03:29. | :03:32.
requested the council drops its consultation into the scheme. | :03:33. | :03:35.
Officials are currently asking for people 's' views but the council | :03:36. | :03:43.
looks to save ?1 million a year. It is thought cutting transport would | :03:44. | :03:49.
force some pupils to leave schools. Legal representation has been hired | :03:50. | :03:53.
to challenge the scheme. We have learned that Thames Valley Police | :03:54. | :03:58.
spend ?600,000 subsidising gun licences last year. | :03:59. | :04:02.
In all, 9000 were given out, but critics say too much public money is | :04:03. | :04:06.
being spent on issuing the licences and the system needs to be changed. | :04:07. | :04:16.
Shooting, once the past time of the aristocracy and landowners. Now | :04:17. | :04:21.
people like Doug, who runs the Oxford Gun Company, say it is for | :04:22. | :04:26.
everyone. Across Oxfordshire, Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire, | :04:27. | :04:28.
there were 9000 applications for gun licences last year alone. This is a | :04:29. | :04:34.
Browning shotgun. Now virtually anyone can buy one of these, but you | :04:35. | :04:41.
will need a licence. That costs ?50. But all those ?50 licences do not | :04:42. | :04:45.
come close to covering the full cost of the administration involved. Now | :04:46. | :04:50.
critics say the fact that it only raises a third of ?1 million, the | :04:51. | :04:55.
other ?600,000 coming from Thames Valley Police, simply is not good | :04:56. | :05:01.
enough. I am appalled. That is a considerable amount of money coming | :05:02. | :05:05.
out of the police budget where as we have had cuts for some years now. | :05:06. | :05:09.
The money should not eat spent so that gun holders can have what is a | :05:10. | :05:13.
very cheap licence. It should be spent on putting more officers on | :05:14. | :05:19.
the beat. Doug insists the cost of licences is about right but the | :05:20. | :05:23.
costs may be too high because of an inefficient system. He also points | :05:24. | :05:27.
out his is not the only sport that the state of having to subsidise. | :05:28. | :05:34.
Rugby, football and cycling cost the taxpayer a fortune. That is in the | :05:35. | :05:42.
NHS. Shooting costs the taxpayer nothing. The Government says... | :05:43. | :05:51.
So it seems for protesters of taxpayers has mapped subsidy, the | :05:52. | :06:01.
situation remains a smoking gun. `` taxpayers' subsidy. | :06:02. | :06:05.
His Mrs at Oxford Airport say their profits are soaring. | :06:06. | :06:09.
It is thought more international business customers are choosing to | :06:10. | :06:13.
use jets that can travel on longer journeys without fuelling. `` | :06:14. | :06:23.
businesses at Oxford Airport says there profits are soaring. Bubbly, | :06:24. | :06:28.
plush upholstery and plenty of legroom. | :06:29. | :06:30.
Chartered flights might not be the norm for most of us but at Oxford | :06:31. | :06:33.
Airport, private jets are commonplace. The company can get | :06:34. | :06:38.
eight recorded profits of more than ?80 million this year. `` Hangar8. | :06:39. | :06:45.
They put their success down to the use of jets that can travel 9000 | :06:46. | :06:51.
kilometres without refuelling. There are things in the global economy | :06:52. | :06:55.
that are improving. Diversification has been a huge plus for us. We have | :06:56. | :07:00.
expanded the market place is that other people have been nervous about | :07:01. | :07:03.
going to. In the last year, the number of business aircraft | :07:04. | :07:08.
departures across the region have been going down that Oxford has seen | :07:09. | :07:13.
a doubling of activity. We have increased our opening hours, | :07:14. | :07:17.
improved navigation facilities we have here. So pilots find it much | :07:18. | :07:20.
easier to come into this airport. In addition, we provide hassle`free, | :07:21. | :07:27.
easy services. It is not just business clients using charter | :07:28. | :07:33.
planes. Oxford Airport is also home to AirMed, who provide repatriations | :07:34. | :07:37.
services for people who become ill abroad. It saw an increase in its | :07:38. | :07:43.
revenue in the six months to October. We are not too far from | :07:44. | :07:49.
Birmingham and hospitals that exist in cities like that. In the 1960s | :07:50. | :07:54.
Oxford Airport was a hub for pilot training with the busiest runway in | :07:55. | :07:59.
the world at the time. Perhaps this surge in business departures will | :08:00. | :08:04.
put the airport back on the map. More than ?3 million is to be spent | :08:05. | :08:08.
on temporary car parking while the Westgate Centre in Oxford is | :08:09. | :08:11.
redeveloped. City council officials say 619 | :08:12. | :08:16.
spaces will be created, to be used for three years on the shopping `` | :08:17. | :08:23.
while the shopping complex is built. A legal challenge to the | :08:24. | :08:28.
Government's controversial cull of badgers in Gloucestershire has | :08:29. | :08:30.
begun. Lawyers acting for the Queen guitarist and animal rights | :08:31. | :08:34.
campaigner Brian May today launched papers at a High Court. They are | :08:35. | :08:37.
challenging the decision to grant an eight week section to the coal `` | :08:38. | :08:45.
extension to the cult which is supposed to hold bovine TB. Puma | :08:46. | :08:49.
helicopters have been in the skies since the 1970s and have played | :08:50. | :08:54.
their role in warfare abroad. Now the fleet at RAF Benson is | :08:55. | :09:00.
undergoing a huge upgrade. The helicopters are getting new engines | :09:01. | :09:04.
and state`of`the`art equipment. Our personnel are now undergoing | :09:05. | :09:07.
training to get to grips with the changes. `` air personnel. A chip | :09:08. | :09:12.
off the old block but this new Puma is faster, will go faster and | :09:13. | :09:18.
further and will carry more. We are currently flying at 160 mph | :09:19. | :09:23.
above Oxford and as you can hear, it is extremely noisy. That is because | :09:24. | :09:29.
the two engines that power this Puma are directly above our heads. It is | :09:30. | :09:34.
an upgraded version of the Puma which has been based at RAF Benson | :09:35. | :09:41.
for more than ten years. It is used to take troops and equipment into | :09:42. | :09:44.
battle around the world. Instead of going out of service like the | :09:45. | :09:48.
Merlin, millions of pounds has been spent to extend its life. Upgrading | :09:49. | :09:53.
is far cheaper than buying new helicopters. It has given us a very | :09:54. | :10:01.
good aircraft that will endure. The new aircraft can respond within | :10:02. | :10:05.
hours to humanitarian or combat operations. Its extra power means | :10:06. | :10:09.
its performance will remain the same in the hottest or coldest | :10:10. | :10:15.
conditions. We have much more powerful engines now, which can lift | :10:16. | :10:22.
more and go further. We have a digital autopilot, so the pilot has | :10:23. | :10:27.
capacity to look at other things going on. It makes it safer. At the | :10:28. | :10:33.
moment, crews are just training on seven of the new Pumas had come | :10:34. | :10:38.
2015, 24 will be in use from RAF Anson. `` .com 201524 will be in use | :10:39. | :10:48.
from RAF Benson. Back later with the football. | :10:49. | :11:04.
Police say the misconduct wasn't related directly to the financial | :11:05. | :11:06.
responsibilities that went with his job, and didn't involve leaks to the | :11:07. | :11:12.
media. Stay with us. Still to come in this | :11:13. | :11:16.
evening's South Today: breathtaking. The Southampton snowboarder on a | :11:17. | :11:17.
roll for the Olympics. Figures released to the BBC show | :11:18. | :11:28.
that, in one month alone, the South Western Ambulance Service which | :11:29. | :11:30.
serves Wiltshire and Dorset raised concerns about families with young | :11:31. | :11:36.
children about 80 times. In the majority of cases they were alarmed | :11:37. | :11:41.
by parents drinking or taking drugs. It's left them worried about the | :11:42. | :11:45.
ability of some adults to look after youngsters who've injured | :11:46. | :11:48.
themselves. Children have died in some of the most serious cases seen | :11:49. | :11:52.
in Dorset. Simon Clemison has this exclusive report. | :11:53. | :12:01.
With a bottle or glass of something at home fast catching up on a night | :12:02. | :12:04.
in the pub, this is a 19 you might recognise. But what if you are the | :12:05. | :12:09.
parent of a young child who needs your help. One mother says she is | :12:10. | :12:13.
never touching a drop of alcohol again. Telling a journalist her | :12:14. | :12:18.
story directly was too much, but through e`mails, she has answered | :12:19. | :12:23.
some of my questions. In one of the most extreme cases, she began | :12:24. | :12:27.
drinking at lunchtime, and had eventually had 14 cans of cider, | :12:28. | :12:31.
falling asleep on the sofa. Meanwhile, her baby had stopped | :12:32. | :12:36.
breathing. When she was told he was dead, she said she couldn't stop | :12:37. | :12:40.
crying and screaming, urging other parents not to end up empty and | :12:41. | :12:45.
lost. She says she believed if she hadn't been drunk, she might have | :12:46. | :12:48.
noticed her young son was not well, and might have been able to get help | :12:49. | :12:53.
sooner. Alcohol will dull the senses, and you might miss things | :12:54. | :12:57.
happening around you. The child might be doing their normal things, | :12:58. | :13:01.
but the parent might not notice that they have had a fall, or wandered | :13:02. | :13:06.
off out of the house. Figures I have been given showed that on 81 | :13:07. | :13:10.
occasions in June alone, paramedics raised concerns about families with | :13:11. | :13:15.
young children, where in the majority of cases, parent in their | :13:16. | :13:18.
view had had too much to drink or had taken drugs. In 46 of those | :13:19. | :13:23.
cases, the youngsters were aged under five, and of those, 21 were | :13:24. | :13:29.
less than one`year`old. They parents dialling 999 may not be able to | :13:30. | :13:32.
follow instructions given over the phone. A nurse helping in the | :13:33. | :13:39.
campaign says that she has seen 24 cases of a parent dying where a | :13:40. | :13:44.
mother or father has been incapable. We are trying to make people think | :13:45. | :13:49.
about the level of alcohol. One or two glasses might be OK, but if they | :13:50. | :13:54.
are drinking the whole bottle or started drinking at lunchtime, that | :13:55. | :14:01.
will have a cumulative effect on their ability to parent. Whether | :14:02. | :14:05.
staying in stead of going out drinking makes someone a more | :14:06. | :14:08.
responsible parent is now open to question. | :14:09. | :14:12.
A trial has begun of a man accused of assisting an offender after a | :14:13. | :14:15.
27`year` old father was stabbed at a party in Hampshire. Simon Warton | :14:16. | :14:19.
died from his injuries in the Dove Close area of Waterlooville after a | :14:20. | :14:22.
disturbance at a party in the early hours of April 12th last year. In | :14:23. | :14:26.
December Sean Bailey was jailed for life for his murder. Today the jury | :14:27. | :14:29.
at Winchester Crown Court heard how Cahill, who is charged with | :14:30. | :14:32.
assisting an offender, hid Bailey in his flat and bought him food and | :14:33. | :14:36.
clothing to avoid his arrest. Cahill denies the charge. | :14:37. | :14:39.
It's a phrase you may not have heard before ` fly`grazing. That's when | :14:40. | :14:46.
horses are dumped in fields without the landowner's permission and left | :14:47. | :14:49.
to fend for themselves. And today it's been debated in Westminster. 46 | :14:50. | :14:52.
horses were rescued in Alton earlier this year. Now the RSPCA and the | :14:53. | :14:55.
East Hampshire MP Damian Hinds are calling for tougher rules to allow | :14:56. | :14:58.
localauthorities to remove fly`grazing horses. Caroline | :14:59. | :15:10.
Richardson reports. Tinker and Murray were abandoned | :15:11. | :15:14.
when they were far to young to fend for themselves. Murray was found | :15:15. | :15:17.
tethered next to his mother who had died. Cally had been beaten. She was | :15:18. | :15:20.
bald, riddled wtih lice and pregnant. She was rescued just in | :15:21. | :15:24.
time and gave birth to a healthy foal at this RSPCA sanctuary in | :15:25. | :15:27.
Surrey. We are finding large fields of horses that have been left | :15:28. | :15:33.
fly`grazing and are not receiving proper care. The grass at this time | :15:34. | :15:38.
of year doesn't have the nutrition in it, and they need supplementary | :15:39. | :15:43.
feeding. Sometimes the field can have hazardous plants or bad fences. | :15:44. | :15:47.
Two months ago, 46 horses were rescued from a field near Alton. | :15:48. | :15:50.
Charities can only rescue animals which are seriously neglected. Local | :15:51. | :15:55.
authorities lack the power to act swiftly before their welfare becomes | :15:56. | :16:04.
a concern. Most importantly, I believe we need to make enforcement | :16:05. | :16:10.
less odorous. That is the most critical immediate challenge, | :16:11. | :16:11.
especially across`the`board in Wales. | :16:12. | :16:21.
The RSPCA is currently caring for 1800 rescued horses. 600 of those | :16:22. | :16:26.
are currently in private stables. The charity is fast running out of | :16:27. | :16:30.
space and resources to care for any more. Caroline Richardson, BBC South | :16:31. | :16:32.
Today, Chobham. After three days without gas, the | :16:33. | :16:35.
Dorset village of Lytchett Matravers has now had its supply fully | :16:36. | :16:38.
restored. More than 650 properties were affected when the gas pressure | :16:39. | :16:41.
dropped on Sunday. Southern Gas Networks set up a help point in the | :16:42. | :16:45.
village hall. Customers will get an automatic credit on their gas bill | :16:46. | :16:46.
as compensation for loss of supply. Helicopter crews from the | :16:47. | :16:53.
Portsmouth`based carrier HMS Illustrious are now flying sorties | :16:54. | :16:56.
to identify which villages in the western Philippines are in most need | :16:57. | :16:59.
of aid supplies. Some communities are still waiting for help to reach | :17:00. | :17:02.
them more than a fortnight after they were battered by Typhoon | :17:03. | :17:05.
Haiyan. It's also been an anxious wait here for families with | :17:06. | :17:08.
relatives in some of the worst`hit areas. Jo Kent reports. | :17:09. | :17:11.
Help arrives at last. A team of Royal Engineers from HMS Illustrious | :17:12. | :17:18.
receive a hero's welcome. They've brought tools and materials needed | :17:19. | :17:25.
to rebuild this destroyed school. There are two strands to what you | :17:26. | :17:30.
can provide, the first being aided and food that can feed the | :17:31. | :17:33.
population. The second is the rebuilding project, helping them get | :17:34. | :17:37.
their fishing boats back, and so on. The plight of the island of | :17:38. | :17:40.
Calagnaan was spotted yesterday on one of the ship's helicopter | :17:41. | :17:42.
reconnaissance missions. HMS Illustrious has taken over from | :17:43. | :17:45.
another Portsmouth`based ship, the destroyer HMS Daring, which was | :17:46. | :17:48.
first to arrive in this remote area of the Western Phillippines. We have | :17:49. | :17:51.
been able to really visit some of the outlying islands, the smaller | :17:52. | :17:53.
communities, where some of the most needed things such as food and water | :17:54. | :17:56.
have not been able to get through. As they fly over, the helicopter | :17:57. | :17:59.
crews spot people on the ground. They've written signs pleading for | :18:00. | :18:02.
help. In the coming days, the helicopters will return to | :18:03. | :18:08.
distribute aid. There is always that doubt in the back of your mind, is | :18:09. | :18:11.
there an eyelid that you have not touched upon? The eyelid communities | :18:12. | :18:21.
are well structured and organised. The islanders do tend to tell us if | :18:22. | :18:24.
there is a more deserving islands near them. | :18:25. | :18:26.
Meanwhile, a family from the New Forest has had news of their | :18:27. | :18:30.
relatives. This is all that is left of Sheila Fitzgerald's family home. | :18:31. | :18:32.
Miraculously those sheltering there, her close family, all survived, | :18:33. | :18:35.
although members of her extended family are now known to have died. | :18:36. | :18:39.
The crew of HMS Illustrious will be here for at least three weeks, | :18:40. | :18:42.
helping to rebuild homes and communities, hoping to restore some | :18:43. | :18:43.
sense of normality. Six`year`old Sophie Rolf from | :18:44. | :18:54.
Totland Bay on the Isle of Wight, who was diagnosed with an inoperable | :18:55. | :18:57.
brain tumour last year, has died. Sophie and her parents appeared on | :18:58. | :19:01.
South Today last month when a team from her KissyPuppy charity ran the | :19:02. | :19:04.
Great South Run to raise funds for children's respite care on the | :19:05. | :19:09.
island. Her father Aaron paid tribute, saying their "beautiful | :19:10. | :19:10.
butterfly" had passed away. All our thoughts go to her parents | :19:11. | :19:21.
on a very sad day. Portsmouth fans are gathering at | :19:22. | :19:29.
Fratton Park tonight for a match against Southend. But it's the | :19:30. | :19:32.
goings`on off the pitch which will dominate their conversation. As we | :19:33. | :19:35.
reported last night, Guy Whittingham was sacked as manager yesterday | :19:36. | :19:39.
afternoon. Despite the current run of four defeats, the move came as a | :19:40. | :19:43.
surprise to many. Sean Killick joins us live from the ground. Sean, it a | :19:44. | :19:46.
shock for everyone, including Guy Whittingham himself? | :19:47. | :19:54.
Yes, and his replacement Andy Orford is currently behind closed doors | :19:55. | :19:57.
here tonight preparing to take his first ever team talk as manager. It | :19:58. | :20:02.
is not something he ever expected to do this evening. He was the club's | :20:03. | :20:07.
academy manager, now he is the caretaker manager. He said it would | :20:08. | :20:13.
be a proud moment to lead out the team, but not what he expected. He | :20:14. | :20:19.
says his thoughts on Guy Whittingham will remain private, but the fans | :20:20. | :20:26.
have been more outspoken. After a few dodgy results, wise decision. | :20:27. | :20:31.
Losing four in a row, I don't think is right for the job. Very | :20:32. | :20:38.
disappointed for Guy and his family. But I wish they would have given him | :20:39. | :20:43.
longer. I'm joined now by chief executive Mark Catlin. This club is | :20:44. | :20:51.
run by the fans for the fans, it is a cooperative, so is this typical of | :20:52. | :20:54.
the fans' short`term knee jerk reaction? It was a considered | :20:55. | :21:01.
business decision. Results and performances have not been up to the | :21:02. | :21:06.
level that we expected. The decision was made by the board to dismiss | :21:07. | :21:13.
Guy. He is a legend at the club and will continue to be one. Above all | :21:14. | :21:18.
else, he is a great man, a fantastic coach, a good manager, but these | :21:19. | :21:22.
things happen in football, and the board took the decision in the best | :21:23. | :21:26.
interests of the football club. Victory tonight would have lifted | :21:27. | :21:29.
the club to mid`table, so shouldn't he have been given more time? There | :21:30. | :21:34.
is always that argument, but the tipping point is that we are nearer | :21:35. | :21:42.
to relegation than the play`offs. Through his initial six or seven | :21:43. | :21:47.
months of being in charge, the expectation levels rose, and it is | :21:48. | :21:51.
sad, but there was a clear lack of confidence amongst the players for | :21:52. | :21:55.
the last few games, and the board took the view that the only way of | :21:56. | :21:58.
addressing that was to get a new manager in. Thank you very much. | :21:59. | :22:04.
Kick`off has been delayed here this evening until 8pm due to an accident | :22:05. | :22:13.
on the A3. Thank you very much. And the | :22:14. | :22:16.
Portsmouth game is one of several fixtures for local teams tonight. | :22:17. | :22:23.
The Winter Olympics in Russia is now under three months away, and one | :22:24. | :22:27.
Southampton snowboarder has medals firmly in sight. Billy Morgan is one | :22:28. | :22:31.
of the world's best slope`style snowboarders, and is thought to be | :22:32. | :22:34.
one of the only people ever to pull off three mid`air flips. Tony | :22:35. | :22:41.
Husband has been to meet him. Sometimes, sports men and women can | :22:42. | :22:43.
do something very special. Billie Morgan's triple rodeo is the | :22:44. | :23:02.
stuff of legend among snowboarders. This video has been viewed almost a | :23:03. | :23:07.
million times on YouTube. From the slopes of Colorado two back home in | :23:08. | :23:16.
Southampton, Billy has played the video over almost as many times. | :23:17. | :23:20.
Massive butterflies in my stomach, but once I dropped in to do it, you | :23:21. | :23:26.
don't have time to be scared. So it is mainly before the time most | :23:27. | :23:32.
scared. Billy was one of the world's top snowboarders in a | :23:33. | :23:35.
category known as slope style. He will make his debut if every. He is | :23:36. | :23:41.
at that and skills learned as a childhood gymnast, and has always | :23:42. | :23:45.
had a taste for extreme sports. When I went skiing at school, a friend | :23:46. | :23:48.
said that we should try snowboarding. I reluctantly agreed, | :23:49. | :23:53.
and then I absolutely loved it, and I was addicted to it. And here I am. | :23:54. | :24:01.
This is one of the first places I started doing my 180s and 360s. The | :24:02. | :24:10.
long road to the Olympics began here at the Southampton Alpine Centre. | :24:11. | :24:15.
When he gets to the Aims, he will be a genuine medal contender. I am | :24:16. | :24:24.
working on a few new triples. I am hoping it will go as well as it can, | :24:25. | :24:28.
and I am proud to go, and if I can get on the podium, that will make it | :24:29. | :24:33.
all the better. Billy is recovering from a knee injury, and will step up | :24:34. | :24:37.
his training next month. He knows that success may depend on one | :24:38. | :24:44.
crucial factor. It all depends on whether you land on your feet on the | :24:45. | :24:49.
day, I think. Stay on your feet, and you could be an Olympic legend, too. | :24:50. | :24:54.
A sort of grasp of breath in here when he does that. It is incredible. | :24:55. | :25:03.
Billy, don't worry, I have plenty of ironing back home you can do. Good | :25:04. | :25:09.
luck. Onto the weather. No snow here, she | :25:10. | :25:14.
says hopefully? Thankfully not. But a little bit of | :25:15. | :25:19.
a change. We are looking at some less cold air arriving. Dan Smith | :25:20. | :25:22.
captured a mallard duck coming in to land in Petworth in West Sussex. Tim | :25:23. | :25:26.
Balmer took this photo of a red squirrel in the sun on Brownsea | :25:27. | :25:29.
Island. And Ginny Boxall captured her dog Lois taking in the warmth of | :25:30. | :25:31.
the sun in Alton in Hampshire. We are looking at increasing cloud | :25:32. | :25:44.
through the course of tonight. There could be some hill fog and mist in | :25:45. | :25:49.
places. After midnight, we will start to see the rain arrive. | :25:50. | :25:55.
Temperatures falling to around three Celsius. Definitely not as cold as | :25:56. | :26:00.
last night, but feeling chilly in the rain and cloud. Behind, there | :26:01. | :26:07.
may be some brighter conditions for areas such as Oxfordshire and | :26:08. | :26:11.
Buckinghamshire. Elsewhere, still holding onto a lot of cloud, with | :26:12. | :26:14.
temperatures reaching nine or 10 Celsius. Behind the rain, less cold | :26:15. | :26:23.
than it has been. Tomorrow evening will see similar conditions, | :26:24. | :26:26.
outbreaks of light and patchy rain. Hill fog is a possibility, as is | :26:27. | :26:31.
missed. We hold on to the cloud, but less cold temperatures. A cloudy, | :26:32. | :26:39.
murky, drizzly start to the day, and we hold onto those conditions for | :26:40. | :26:43.
much of the day, despite high pressure being in charge of much of | :26:44. | :26:48.
our weather. A cold front will move its way southwards across the | :26:49. | :26:53.
country. A lot colder as we head towards the weekend, with a squeeze | :26:54. | :26:58.
on the isobars. Through the rest of the week, we're all looking at the | :26:59. | :27:10.
Outlook. Missed, hill fog. There could be some brightness for | :27:11. | :27:12.
Northern areas tomorrow afternoon, and then on Thursday we hold onto | :27:13. | :27:19.
the cloud and drizzle. The mild air disappears as we head towards the | :27:20. | :27:22.
weekend, with the weather front moving through on Friday. Colder for | :27:23. | :27:24.
the weekend with brisk winds. Be with us tomorrow night, because | :27:25. | :27:34.
we have front row tickets for one of the most unusual locations for a | :27:35. | :27:37.
play did you can imagine, a busy commuter Rahway Station, telling a | :27:38. | :27:42.
wartime evacuation story. Be with us for that tomorrow night at 630. Good | :27:43. | :27:44.
night. | :27:45. | :27:47. |
