Hello and welcome to South Today from Oxford. In tonight's programme: | :00:00. | :00:09.
Police confirm the body found in Didcot is Jayden Parkinson. As | :00:10. | :00:13.
people light candles in her memory, detectives say it could be six weeks | :00:14. | :00:17.
before they know how the teenager died. | :00:18. | :00:20.
Also tonight: Tackling domestic violence ` could speeding up the | :00:21. | :00:24.
court process encourage more victims to prosecute their partners? | :00:25. | :00:29.
And later on: Memories of how Ronaldo left his mark on a | :00:30. | :00:30.
12`year`old boy. Good evening. Police investigating | :00:31. | :00:49.
the murder of Jayden Parkinson have confirmed the body they found in | :00:50. | :00:52.
Didcot is that of the missing teenager. Meanwhile, mourners have | :00:53. | :00:56.
been paying their respects to the 17`year`old. People have been | :00:57. | :00:59.
invited to light candles at All Saints Church. Jayden's body was | :01:00. | :01:03.
discovered in the graveyard there. Her former boyfriend has been | :01:04. | :01:07.
charged with her murder. Stuart Tinworth reports. | :01:08. | :01:10.
Tributes for Jayden, just a few metres from where police found a | :01:11. | :01:18.
body on Wednesday. People in Didcot are being invited to light a candle | :01:19. | :01:24.
in her memory and sign a book of condolence. It's been organised by | :01:25. | :01:33.
All Saints Church. It's a dark time when something like this happens and | :01:34. | :01:36.
people can feel low and despairing and the candle is the symbol of | :01:37. | :01:39.
light and hope that we yearn for at such a time. All day people have | :01:40. | :01:42.
been filtering in and out. Some knew her, some did not ` but all united | :01:43. | :01:48.
in their grief. Yeah, she was nice. Quite friendly with everyone. She | :01:49. | :01:54.
was quite loud and quite bubbly and never afraid to say what she | :01:55. | :01:58.
thought. This church means a lot to me and my family. I was married here | :01:59. | :02:02.
and both my children were christened here. Just come and pay our means a | :02:03. | :02:09.
lot. Especially at Christmas, it has more impact on the local people and | :02:10. | :02:12.
her family and friends. It's been more than two weeks since Jayden | :02:13. | :02:15.
disappeared. She was last seen alive at Didcot train station. | :02:16. | :02:24.
This graveyard became the focal point of the investigation into her | :02:25. | :02:28.
disappearance this week. Dozens of officers were carrying out forensic | :02:29. | :02:33.
operations here but today, all that remains is a freshly turfed grave | :02:34. | :02:39.
with no headstone. 22`year`old Ben Blakely from Reading's been charged | :02:40. | :02:42.
with her murder. A 17`year`old, who can't be named, has been charged | :02:43. | :02:45.
with assisting an offender. A postmortem into the cause of | :02:46. | :02:48.
Jayden's death has been unable to establish how she died. Further | :02:49. | :02:59.
tests may take as long as six weeks. For people who are experience | :03:00. | :03:02.
domestic violence, prosecuting their abusive partner can be an ordeal. | :03:03. | :03:06.
The two`month court process can be too much to bear. Thames Valley | :03:07. | :03:12.
Police is now seeing whether speeding up the process ` from eight | :03:13. | :03:16.
weeks to two ` will encourage more victims to go ahead with | :03:17. | :03:22.
prosecutions. Tom Turrell reports. It's estimated that as many as one | :03:23. | :03:26.
in three women will experience the mystic abuse in their lifetimes. But | :03:27. | :03:30.
getting them to report a loved one can be very hard. Now Thames Valley | :03:31. | :03:35.
Police hope the new scheme, being trialled in parts of | :03:36. | :03:38.
Buckinghamshire, will speed up the process and result in more | :03:39. | :03:43.
convictions. At the moment, the average time from first hearing to | :03:44. | :03:46.
trial is about eight weeks and under the pilot that will reduce to | :03:47. | :03:49.
approximately two weeks on the depending on quarter but the `` | :03:50. | :03:56.
court availability. That means victims don't have to wait as long | :03:57. | :04:00.
for their trial to come to court and they get their case concluded more | :04:01. | :04:04.
quickly than at the moment. The problem is, a relatively small | :04:05. | :04:08.
number of reported incidents of domestic abuse actually result in | :04:09. | :04:14.
convictions. In 2011, just over 40% of crimes reported resulted in | :04:15. | :04:17.
prosecution. That number dropped further last year and, this year, it | :04:18. | :04:23.
still remains low. It's for that reason that domestic abuse charities | :04:24. | :04:26.
believe the latest abutment is a step forward. They really need to | :04:27. | :04:31.
feel that something will change, otherwise they'll just make | :04:32. | :04:35.
themselves more vulnerable and they can feel that nothing has changed. | :04:36. | :04:39.
That can impact on them believing that the perpetrator does have total | :04:40. | :04:45.
control. Thames Valley Police's trial will last for three months | :04:46. | :04:49.
but, if successful, it will be rolled out across the whole of | :04:50. | :04:52.
Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and parts of Berkshire permanently. | :04:53. | :04:56.
The family of a man who was found dead five days after he went missing | :04:57. | :04:59.
have made an official complaint about how long it took police to | :05:00. | :05:03.
respond to his disappearance. The body of Tom Edwards' body was found | :05:04. | :05:11.
next to a railway line. He'd disappeared after a night out in | :05:12. | :05:16.
Swindon. It gets worse. It doesn't get better. They say time is a | :05:17. | :05:21.
healer. For Tom's widow, life without him is a living nightmare. | :05:22. | :05:25.
The couple were married and lived together here in Calne for just over | :05:26. | :05:30.
a year. What is day`to`day life like? Hard, really hard. Never easy. | :05:31. | :05:37.
Tom was on a Friday night out with work colleagues at this bar in | :05:38. | :05:41.
Swindon. What we know is that after he left, police picked him up and | :05:42. | :05:45.
then gave him a lift to a bus stop but he never got on a bus. Instead, | :05:46. | :05:50.
he made his way to the train station to catch a train to Chippenham ` a | :05:51. | :05:55.
journey he never completed. Desperate to find him, the family | :05:56. | :05:59.
launched their own search and appealed for help. Five days later, | :06:00. | :06:04.
Tom's body was found by the railway line near Chippenham station. Police | :06:05. | :06:09.
have now told the family things could have been done differently and | :06:10. | :06:13.
Tom's body perhaps found sooner, sparing the family days of | :06:14. | :06:18.
uncertainty. They've now officially complained about the police contact | :06:19. | :06:20.
with Tom on the night he went missing and their search. Wiltshire | :06:21. | :06:26.
police have already investigated their conduct because they had | :06:27. | :06:30.
contact with Tom does before his death. They told us lessons had been | :06:31. | :06:36.
learned. They're now reinvestigating themselves because of the family | :06:37. | :06:41.
complaint. The events surrounding Tom's death still remain a mystery. | :06:42. | :06:45.
An inquest next year may provide some answers for his family ` a | :06:46. | :06:49.
family trying to come to terms with losing a brother, a son and husband. | :06:50. | :06:54.
The big Christmas getaway on the roads is expected to start this | :06:55. | :06:59.
weekend. Air traffic control company NATS says 5,800 flights will be | :07:00. | :07:02.
handled today ` the busiest day in the festive period. But for many | :07:03. | :07:06.
rail passengers, it looking like a Christmas of delays and replacement | :07:07. | :07:15.
buses. Here at Reading, buses will replace | :07:16. | :07:20.
trains on many services over several days. The works are on 15 different | :07:21. | :07:27.
sites. We'll have over 1000 people working on Christmas Day and Boxing | :07:28. | :07:31.
Day and we will reopen parts of the network on the 27th. For some | :07:32. | :07:37.
passengers through the Thames Valley and down to Basingstoke, that will | :07:38. | :07:43.
mean more buses instead of trains. We've got significant work going on | :07:44. | :07:47.
here at Reading. It's not as much disruption as in previous years but | :07:48. | :07:50.
if you're travelling to Basingstoke, we advise customers to | :07:51. | :07:55.
check before they travel because there are some bus replacement | :07:56. | :08:00.
services. South West trains will have some changes, too. There is | :08:01. | :08:05.
major work at Waterloo, Britain's busiest station, with nine of the 19 | :08:06. | :08:09.
platforms out of action for a few days. The advice for all Christmas ` | :08:10. | :08:15.
period passengers is to check carefully before you travel. | :08:16. | :08:20.
A 70`year`old man is in hospital with life`threatening injuries after | :08:21. | :08:24.
he was hit by a car in Aylesbury. It happened on a zebra crossing at just | :08:25. | :08:27.
after 10.30 this morning in Camborne Avenue. Police are appealing for | :08:28. | :08:30.
witnesses, and anyone who saw a blue Vauxhall Corsa in the area. | :08:31. | :08:35.
A road in Oxfordshire that collapsed 12 months ago after weeks of heavy | :08:36. | :08:39.
rain has been reopened. The A4183 Oxford Road was shut after a 200ft | :08:40. | :08:43.
section was split in two by a landslip. Repairs to the road cost | :08:44. | :08:49.
?1 million. The council has apologised for the inconvenience ` | :08:50. | :08:52.
but said fixing the problem was an enormous task. | :08:53. | :08:57.
A protest has been held outside the job centre in Milton Keynes, against | :08:58. | :09:00.
benefit cuts. The group, called Milton Keynes Against The Cuts, | :09:01. | :09:03.
wants to end targets for staff who remove benefits from claimants. The | :09:04. | :09:06.
Department for Work and Pensions says sanctions are only used as a | :09:07. | :09:10.
last resort and it does not set targets for staff. We've got one of | :09:11. | :09:19.
the least generous benefit systems of the whole of Europe. People often | :09:20. | :09:24.
don't know that and we get a lot of press and propaganda about how many | :09:25. | :09:28.
people are claiming benefits and so on. But I think it's getting less | :09:29. | :09:31.
and less fair as time goes on. A second attempt to row the | :09:32. | :09:35.
Atlantic's being made by a teenager from Appleford in Oxfordshire this | :09:36. | :09:37.
weekend. Eoin Hartwright's first attempt failed two weeks ago after | :09:38. | :09:41.
an issue with the crew involved. But the 16`year`old will set off again | :09:42. | :09:44.
from the Canary Islands this Sunday. It's hoped the journey will take | :09:45. | :09:47.
around 40 days. It's raising money for the charities Helen Douglas | :09:48. | :09:53.
House, and Cool Earth. That's all from me for the moment. | :09:54. | :09:58.
I'll be back at 1020 5p. Here's Sally Taylor. | :09:59. | :10:01.
rise. Unions labelled the increases as an "embarrasment to higher | :10:02. | :10:02.
education" and are considering action. | :10:03. | :10:12.
Still to come in this evening's South Today, Alexis has warnings of | :10:13. | :10:16.
some lively weather on the way. Very wet and windy weather in the next 24 | :10:17. | :10:19.
hours but what about Christmas? I will have a full forecast later in | :10:20. | :10:29.
the programme. Talks are ongoing to try to continue | :10:30. | :10:32.
shipbuilding in Portsmouth. It follows BAE's decision last month to | :10:33. | :10:36.
shut its yard in the city, with the loss of over 1,000 jobs. BBC South | :10:37. | :10:40.
has been told at least 15 businesses have now expressed an interest in | :10:41. | :10:43.
using the shipyard and taking on some skilled workers. The Portsmouth | :10:44. | :10:46.
North MP, Penny Mordaunt, says there's still a lot to do for the | :10:47. | :10:50.
plan to succeed. What we have to do is a lot of hard work. The | :10:51. | :10:52.
nitty`gritty of making all of that happened. Working out quickly what | :10:53. | :10:57.
those overheads will be for those businesses so they can put those | :10:58. | :11:00.
plans together. Getting the local authority to do some things to | :11:01. | :11:06.
incentivise companies. We have all of the ingredients there, we need to | :11:07. | :11:09.
make it happen. I am optimistic about the future. | :11:10. | :11:19.
Dorset Police are to share services with Devon and Cornwall Police in a | :11:20. | :11:23.
bid to save money. Both forces say its not a merger, but have warned | :11:24. | :11:27.
that some jobs could go. A review will now look at which services in | :11:28. | :11:30.
particular will be affected. Senior officers hope any savings will help | :11:31. | :11:40.
to protect front line policing. Radical changes are being made to | :11:41. | :11:43.
the way people with diabetes are treated in parts of Berkshire. The | :11:44. | :11:46.
National Diabetes Audit shows too many diabetics in Reading and the | :11:47. | :11:49.
Wokingham area have been getting inadequate care. Services in the | :11:50. | :11:53.
area have ranked among the worst in the country. Nikki Mitchell reports. | :11:54. | :11:55.
I have cut out saturated fats. Rates of diabetes are soaring. This is one | :11:56. | :12:00.
patient who has been diagnosed in the West Berkshire alone. Instead of | :12:01. | :12:05.
being told what to do by the experts, the experts are teaching | :12:06. | :12:11.
her how to help herself. We need a plan. We need to get your | :12:12. | :12:16.
cholesterol down. I decide my goals and I can keep to them. Where is, | :12:17. | :12:20.
realistically, if somebody else did you a goal, you cannot always stick | :12:21. | :12:25.
to it. The information is the thing we are giving them and this is like | :12:26. | :12:28.
receiving a bank statement if you like. You receive that in your post, | :12:29. | :12:36.
there is no way of getting a way that it belongs to you. You are | :12:37. | :12:40.
working together, putting the person with diabetes in the driving seat. I | :12:41. | :12:45.
feel better and I feel happy about coming here. I used to come and was | :12:46. | :12:52.
nervous. Which of the following foods have the largest effect on | :12:53. | :12:57.
blood sugar levels? Classes and games are showing patients have to | :12:58. | :13:04.
stay well. The doctor who helped diabetic limb `` diabetic Olympian | :13:05. | :13:12.
Sir Steve Redgrave when golf has been modernising consultant. He runs | :13:13. | :13:20.
hospital clinics and tours surgeries, teaching nurses have to | :13:21. | :13:26.
deal with their patients. They can have their care put into place | :13:27. | :13:30.
locally without going into a diabetes Centre as may have happened | :13:31. | :13:34.
before. Patients who come into the diabetes centre can be referred back | :13:35. | :13:36.
to the general practitioner but they have a specialist to review their | :13:37. | :13:43.
cases. It is costing over half ?1 million a year but is diabetes can | :13:44. | :13:54.
have further impact, the cost of not carrying out these improvements, | :13:55. | :14:04.
would be much worse. It will be horrible for them. We don't want | :14:05. | :14:08.
that to happen to them and we don't want to have to pay for it if and | :14:09. | :14:11.
when it does. So actually it is a win`win. There are now hopes that | :14:12. | :14:16.
this way of treating diabetics could be used to treat people suffering | :14:17. | :14:22.
from other long`term conditions such as asthma. | :14:23. | :14:24.
Now, chances are you've probably ordered some presents over the | :14:25. | :14:28.
internet this year. Our love affair with online shopping shows no sign | :14:29. | :14:32.
of cooling off. And many of those items have to get to us before the | :14:33. | :14:35.
big day next week. Our Business Correspondent, Alastair Fee, has | :14:36. | :14:38.
been to meet a new company in Basingstoke trying to get in on the | :14:39. | :14:47.
internet delivery act. It is selling very, very well. | :14:48. | :14:50.
At a product meeting, OnBuy, the UK's newest online market place | :14:51. | :14:53.
discuss some of their most popular toys. It's their first Christmas and | :14:54. | :14:58.
have on trial 100,000 items. That might sound a lot but Amazon has | :14:59. | :15:07.
millions. We sell other people's products. Sellers come to us with | :15:08. | :15:10.
their infantry and we list them for sale. We do not actually sell items | :15:11. | :15:20.
ourselves. The website has an emphasis on buying British. From a | :15:21. | :15:28.
warehouse in Wales, items are picked, packed and sent out across | :15:29. | :15:30.
the country. Hundreds of products leave here every day. We have plans | :15:31. | :15:33.
to preserve another building directly opposite where we are now. | :15:34. | :15:40.
When this grows, we know we have a facility to take hold. It's | :15:41. | :15:44.
certainly ambitious but they view Amazon as a rival. The online giant, | :15:45. | :15:47.
together with other multinational firms like Starbucks and Google have | :15:48. | :15:50.
been criticised for paying minimal tax here in the UK. The controversy | :15:51. | :15:56.
surrounding Amazon is adding to our message that we are going to pay UK | :15:57. | :16:05.
tax and try and ensure that the public sees OnBuy as a viable | :16:06. | :16:10.
marketplace. YOYOTech make gaming machines and are among the first | :16:11. | :16:14.
retailers to choose to sell via the website. Onbuy makes money through a | :16:15. | :16:17.
monthly charge and by taking a percentage of every item sold. Both | :16:18. | :16:20.
are cheaper for the retailer than selling on Amazon. If you are pro | :16:21. | :16:31.
UK, which OnBuy are, they pay UK taxes, they will grow in the UK and | :16:32. | :16:37.
create UK jobs which strengthens our economy, which makes our business | :16:38. | :16:41.
stronger as more people buy from us as well. This Christmas, the big | :16:42. | :16:44.
sellers have been magic kits and video games. Compared to Amazon, who | :16:45. | :16:47.
have thousands of employees in the UK, OnBuy has begun with just 26. | :16:48. | :16:55.
The ambition is to take 5% of Amazon's market share, a massive | :16:56. | :17:04.
?190 million in sales. Don't worry, that big box for you but I have | :17:05. | :17:08.
bought will be delivered before Christmas Day. Yours is all ready in | :17:09. | :17:17.
the post. Absolutely! Shall we talk football? | :17:18. | :17:25.
A little critters present to any anxious Southampton fans today. | :17:26. | :17:30.
Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino says he's had no approach | :17:31. | :17:33.
to speak to Tottenham about becoming the club's new boss. Pochettino's | :17:34. | :17:36.
name had been listed among the possible contenders to replace | :17:37. | :17:39.
Andres Villas Boas who was sacked on Monday. Saints face Spurs on Sunday | :17:40. | :17:42.
at St Mary's with Pochettino focussing on keeping his side's fine | :17:43. | :17:50.
Premier League season on track. Perhaps the results of late have not | :17:51. | :17:53.
gone our way but I'm happy in the sense that the team has been playing | :17:54. | :17:57.
how we want the team to play. The schedule is tough as you go into the | :17:58. | :18:02.
Christmas period. I am happy overall the performance. Perhaps not so | :18:03. | :18:07.
happy with the results. Tomorrow's action sees Reading host | :18:08. | :18:10.
Wigan in the Championship at the Madejski stadium. The Royals head | :18:11. | :18:13.
into the festive season fifth in the table. | :18:14. | :18:15.
Elsewhere, Brighton are at home, Bournemouth are on the road, more on | :18:16. | :18:20.
the Cherries shortly. There are home games for both MK | :18:21. | :18:24.
Dons and Swindon in League One, while the leaders Oxford are at York | :18:25. | :18:27.
in League Two, Portsmouth travel to Bristol Rovers. Full commentary on | :18:28. | :18:30.
BBC local radio and the goals tomorrow night on the Football | :18:31. | :18:32.
League Show. Hampshire cricket have signed Sussex | :18:33. | :18:35.
batsman Joe Gatting. Gatting, son of Steve, who played for Brighton in | :18:36. | :18:38.
the 1983 cup final and himself played professional football before | :18:39. | :18:41.
concentrating on cricket, has signed a two`year contract at the Ageas | :18:42. | :18:44.
Bowl. London Irish will hand a debut to | :18:45. | :18:47.
former South African World Cup winner CJ Van der Linde in their | :18:48. | :18:51.
Premiership match at Sale tonight. He comes into the front row for an | :18:52. | :18:55.
Irish side which is struggling again this season. They are 11th in the | :18:56. | :18:59.
table with just two wins to their name. | :19:00. | :19:01.
We go back to football now and Bournenmouth are at Sheffield | :19:02. | :19:03.
Wednesday tomorrow. Eddie Howe is hoping his side can pull off a | :19:04. | :19:07.
second consecutive away win, in this the club's first season back in the | :19:08. | :19:10.
second tier. The festive season brings five games in 15 days. You | :19:11. | :19:19.
come into this period and you have a lot of games in a short period of | :19:20. | :19:24.
time. Certainly, a good critters period can give you momentum into | :19:25. | :19:29.
January. That is what we are looking to do. | :19:30. | :19:31.
It has been some year for Bournemouth. The club enjoyed | :19:32. | :19:34.
promotion in April and in July fans were treated to a glamour game like | :19:35. | :19:38.
no other. With the summer heat wave at its peak, 12,000 fans were at | :19:39. | :19:42.
Dean Court to see Real Madrid come to town. It was one of the South's | :19:43. | :19:46.
sporting highlights of the year and I've been back to Dean Court to meet | :19:47. | :19:50.
a couple of people with special memories. We all have our own memory | :19:51. | :19:57.
of that balmy night in July. I remember as Ray are Madrid came | :19:58. | :20:00.
through the dressing rooms. All of the big`name stars. They turned out | :20:01. | :20:07.
to be real gentleman. I remember Rinaldo taking a free kick and the | :20:08. | :20:10.
ball came straight at me and broke my arm. I remember thousands of | :20:11. | :20:19.
people lining the bus route as Real Madrid arrived at Dean Court. It was | :20:20. | :20:26.
the game Bournemouth fans thought they would never see. The glitz and | :20:27. | :20:32.
glamour of the site coming to the city. It was a day to dream about. | :20:33. | :20:42.
We have got the likes of Ronaldo out there on the field right now. | :20:43. | :20:47.
Charlie Silverwood was behind the goal with a perfect view of | :20:48. | :20:52.
Cristiano Rinaldo's free kick. It missed the target but hit Charlie. | :20:53. | :21:00.
My dad died out the way and the person next to me died at the way | :21:01. | :21:04.
but I didn't! I didn't think about it at the time so ended up getting | :21:05. | :21:10.
hit in the arm and it broke. When you see the paramedics, most people | :21:11. | :21:13.
think that the first thing they would do is go to hospital. You | :21:14. | :21:17.
didn't do that, you wanted to see the game. The tickets were not | :21:18. | :21:22.
cheap, so I wanted to get our money 's worth. Charlie Stayt, eager to | :21:23. | :21:29.
not miss a minute. Also watching was John Harris, who has worked here for | :21:30. | :21:36.
years. I never thought it would happen at all, not with the status | :21:37. | :21:45.
of Real Madrid. Bournemouth lost the match 6`0. Ronaldo scored twice. | :21:46. | :21:53.
Charlie had broken his arm into `` his arm in two places. One of their | :21:54. | :21:59.
players spoke to me and apologised about my arm. He said he hoped I | :22:00. | :22:06.
would be better soon. They said they Rinaldo shut over. They flew into | :22:07. | :22:12.
Bournemouth today and they fly straight out tonight. They leave | :22:13. | :22:15.
behind memories which Bournemouth fans will savour for ever. | :22:16. | :22:24.
It really was a very, very special night. Ours is an? It's fine now. `` | :22:25. | :22:33.
how is his arm. A pygmy hippo has been born at | :22:34. | :22:36.
Marwell Zoo in Hampshire. The female, who doesn't yet have a name, | :22:37. | :22:39.
arrived weighing six kilos and measuring 15cm tall. Pygmy hippos, | :22:40. | :22:44.
who are normally found in the swamps of western Africa, are endangered in | :22:45. | :22:51.
the wild. Thank you very much for all of those who went on to our | :22:52. | :22:56.
Facebook page. One suggestion for a named was Tinsel. Someone else what | :22:57. | :23:05.
it should be Mary. What about Mistletoe? Holly? ID? `` Ivy? | :23:06. | :23:17.
It is potentially turning quite stormy in the next couple of days. I | :23:18. | :23:20.
will talk about that in the forecast. Let us take a look at some | :23:21. | :23:23.
pictures. Sue Preen took this photo in | :23:24. | :23:27.
Highcliffe this morning of the ice patterns on her car. | :23:28. | :23:29.
John Tweddell captured the sun rising over Emsworth this morning. | :23:30. | :23:34.
That is a really nice one. And the Osmington White Horse near | :23:35. | :23:38.
Weymouth is getting in to the festive spirit. Isn't that looking | :23:39. | :23:43.
fantastic. This photo was sent in by Rupert Haighton. | :23:44. | :23:50.
Conditions will turn on settled in the next few hours and overnight | :23:51. | :23:54.
into tomorrow. We saw some sunshine today but that would be the case | :23:55. | :23:58.
tonight, obviously did night`time so you will not see the sunshine. There | :23:59. | :24:05.
is a rain warning from the Met office for localised flooding and | :24:06. | :24:07.
surface water. Heavy, torrential rain through the course of the night | :24:08. | :24:11.
and staying with us tomorrow. The rain moves in this evening. There | :24:12. | :24:15.
will be some heavy bursts in there. Some lively rain with temperatures | :24:16. | :24:20.
falling to around nine or 10 Celsius was mild conditions but the rain is | :24:21. | :24:23.
not going anywhere quickly. It was they through the course of the day | :24:24. | :24:26.
until the early afternoon, when it gradually clears away. Some lively | :24:27. | :24:30.
showers through the afternoon and then some dusty winds. Gusts on the | :24:31. | :24:39.
coast up to 60 mast power. Inland gusts of 50 mph. There will be some | :24:40. | :24:42.
sunshine in the afternoon. If you have the showers around. Quite windy | :24:43. | :24:47.
conditions and once that rain has passed, following it tomorrow night | :24:48. | :24:50.
will be squally rain. A band of rain pushes through in the early hours of | :24:51. | :24:55.
Sunday morning. Temperatures fall to 5`6 Celsius. Sunday will be a lot | :24:56. | :25:02.
colder although we hold on to the blustery showers through the course | :25:03. | :25:04.
of the day on Sunday. The wind is still brisk full is up you can see | :25:05. | :25:09.
the squeeze on the isobars. What we see next is the feature moving in | :25:10. | :25:12.
from the Atlantic, more low pressure which potentially good give us some | :25:13. | :25:16.
stormy conditions on Monday into Christmas Eve on Tuesday. A very | :25:17. | :25:21.
strong south`westerly wind, with gales or severe gales and torrential | :25:22. | :25:25.
rain at times and that could lead to quite a lot of flooding, surface | :25:26. | :25:28.
water on the roads as well. Staging to your forecasts and your local | :25:29. | :25:34.
Busi radio station for the latest information. Looking at into | :25:35. | :25:40.
Christmas, we see more win and rain. There is a weather warning on | :25:41. | :25:46.
Monday. Some disruption is possible. By Christmas Day, the wind | :25:47. | :25:48.
will die away and we were ill see some cooler conditions will stop | :25:49. | :25:52.
there is a risk we could have some sleet or even the odd snowflake. I | :25:53. | :25:57.
say maybe. Staging to the forecast. Saturday, there is a lot of rain, | :25:58. | :26:01.
which could give some localised flooding. There is a yellow warning | :26:02. | :26:05.
in place for that. Sunday, blustery showers with some sunshine. Looking | :26:06. | :26:09.
at Monday and Tuesday, stay tuned to the forecast. | :26:10. | :26:14.
That is looking worrying. Especially on Monday into Tuesday. Especially | :26:15. | :26:21.
if you're commuting. We will have a full programme on South Today on | :26:22. | :26:25.
Monday. There will be bulletins over the weekend. | :26:26. | :26:28.
We'll leave you tonight with a christmas carol. It is sung by the | :26:29. | :26:32.
children of the Mary Hare Primary School in Newbury. The school is for | :26:33. | :26:35.
youngsters who are profoundly deaf ` they worked very hard learning this | :26:36. | :26:48.
