Good evening. Lightning strhkes have destroyed a sports pavilion in

Oxfordshire, as well as hitting several homes and a car, tr`pping

two children inside. The storm also brought down trees onto two railway

lines. Our reporter has been following the story and explained

more about what happened today. The weather forecast for Oxford

today was just cloudy. At ltnchtime there was this unexpected

thunderstorm. The Fire Servhce were called out to jobs all over the

county, including Banbury County Cricket Club. The building has been

totally destroyed by a fire caused by a lightning bolt. Fire crews are

still there this evening de`ling with a fire. A trustee of the club

told me it was devastating because a lot of the history of the club has

been destroyed. Everything has gone. The main thing that has comd is the

history. From 1932, the tot`l history of the club was there. The

minutes, the pictures, the commemorations. Everything has gone.

Many people have played herd over the years. It has all gone. The

storm caused disruption elsdwhere? That's right. It's been a btsy

afternoon for fire crews. They were called to houses in Didcot struck by

lightning. A car in Banbury was also struck, causing the door locking

mechanisms to jam and two children were struck inside. They had to be

rescued. The Chiltern Railw`y Line has been disrupted. These phctures

will show you why. These have been sent in by viewers. The good news

this evening is those lines have been cleared and all the lines are

up and running. Cat owners are being reassured that

the risk of catching tuberctlosis from their pets is very small, after

two people in Newbury caught TB from their cats. They were first known

cases in the world. For millions of cat owners, this

news might come as a shock. Two people in Berkshire are recovering

after being infected with TB by their cats. This vet in Newbury

raised the alarm after a cltster of nine cats in one small area got

bovine TB. My theory is that a stray cat has become infected either by

hunting an infected small animal or perhaps by meeting a badger that is

infected and has been going through this territory and maybe had fights

with cats. It is almost likd an arc that he has been wandering `long

here. The cats had bovine TB which primarily infects cattle. Btt it can

be spread by wildlife. The bacteria can be breathed in or passed on

through cuts in the skin. Fortunately humans can be ctred with

a six`month course of antibhotics. Every year, a few people get bovine

TB, also called M bovis. He`lth officials say thousands get TB as a

result of human to human transmission. Numbers of M bovis

cases are very low, especially if you compare them to the hum`n form.

We get 25`35 cases a year. The majority of those are in older

groups of people who may have been exposed in the past. The pl`in fact

is I have more chance of winning the lottery jackpot or of being struck

by lightning than of catching TB from my cat. However, cats can pass

on other diseases. Pregnant women are advised to avoid changing cat

litter because of a parasitd that can be passed on which can cause

birth defects or miscarriagd. All the TB infected cats had opdn wounds

and had lost weight. Any pet showing signs of sickness should be taken to

a vet. A third man has been charged in

connection with the death of a 17`year`old boy in Oxford. Connor

Tremble was stabbed in Fair`cres Road last month. Bradley Jones, who

is 21 and from Chipping Norton, has been charged with perverting the

course of justice. Two men have already been charged over Connor's

death ` one with murder, thd other with assisting an offender.

Six months after a ten`year`old boy was knocked down and killed in

Didcot, his family are camp`igning for a lower speed limit on the road.

Freddie Perry died after he was hit by a car last September.

Having fun with Freddie. Just three months after this video was taken,

Freddie was hit by a car as he crossed the road on his way home in

Didcot. His friend he was ott playing with came knocking on the

door, saying that Freddie h`d been hit by a car. I thought he would be

sat on the side of the road, next to one of the parked vehicles. I didn't

expect to see him in a pool of blood. Now his family are

campaigning to lower the spded limit and improving the parking on this

road where Freddie died. Nothing can bring Freddie back. But we don't

want to see any other child injured or their lives taken down hdre. And

something will happen if solething is not done. The county council are

discussing what they can do to make Oxford Crescent safer. Meanwhile,

Freddie's family are setting up a charitable trust. Already ntmerous

events have been organised hn Freddie's memory. And the tributes

continue. It's a reminder that Freddie was here. He was an

important part of the familx. Something really sad happendd. But

together we are coming throtgh it. We will always remember Freddie

Freddie's family have been overwhelmed with the outpouring of

affection from those who relember their little boy. They say the

biggest tribute, though, wotld be to slow down the cars on Oxford

Crescent. Tickets for Kate Bush's first live

shows in thirty five years sold out in less than 15 minutes this

morning. The singer ` who h`s a home near Abingdon ` has only totred once

back in 1979. She had topped the charts with Wuthering Heights the

previous year. She is performing 22 dates in London in August and

September. Demand was so high, her website and some other tickdt

sellers crashed. Tickets ard being re`sold with asking prices of more
