16,000 bottles of water have been shipped out to villages on the

Oxfordshire`Berkshire border tonight after reports that chemicals might

have contaminated the tap water. Around 1,500 properties are thought

to be affected in the Pangbourne and Streatley area. This evening Thames

Water is carrying out tests on the supply. Tom Hepworth reports.

from Wantage, who stole more than ?100,000 from a 92`year`old woman,

has been ordered to pay her family just ?5 in compensation. 75`year`old

John Morgan gambled most of the money on slot machines, including a

trip to Las Vegas. He was jailed for five years for stealing the money

from Beryl Gittens from Berkshire. The court heard he had no assets to
