Conservative Tim Hallchurch was the only candidate put forward in Otmoor

ward in Cherwell. It's one of just a handful of places in the country

where it's happened. Our political reporter, Helen Catt, has been to

It has one church, one pub, one school and this, year just one

candidate for the district council. Campaigners say that's not on. Not

only is it bad for voters, it also means the candidates lack a proper

mandate because they are in there without a single vote being cast for

them. The newly re`elected member for Otmoor says it's not up to him

to find opponents, though. I was elected with a clear majority a few

years ago, so I was democratically elected. Anybody can stand against

me. Plenty of Greens at the nursery but none available to stand here. No

Lib Dems, either. Labour say they missed Otmoor out, just by mistake.

UKIP haven't given a reason. And it seems there hasn't been any contest

for parish council seats either. Otmoor won't now be up for election

again until 2018. Oxford United's top striker, James

Constable, has turned down a new contract with the club. Constable,

nicknamed Beano, joined Oxford in 2008 and scored 106 times for the
