The man accused of murdering Didcot teenager, Jayden Parkinson,

:00:10.:00:16.

was violent towards his previous partners,

:00:17.:00:17.

Ben Blakeley, from Christchurch Road in Rdading,

:00:18.:00:21.

denies murdering his former girlfriend, 17`year`old Jayden.

:00:22.:00:24.

Today, the prosecution's cl`imed he pushed a different girlfriend

:00:25.:00:26.

down the stairs when she was seven months pregnant.

:00:27.:00:30.

Victoria Cook spent the day at the hearing in Oxford.

:00:31.:00:34.

The prosecution told the jury today that Ben Blakely had

:00:35.:00:36.

had a number of girlfriends that he was violent towards in the past

:00:37.:00:40.

It was in 2007 when he was dating Kirsty Penford that she clahms he

:00:41.:00:44.

She was seven months pregnant at the time.

:00:45.:00:49.

Richard Latham QC said he only allowed her to wear make`up to

:00:50.:00:54.

He would regularly threaten to kill her when in a temper.

:00:55.:00:58.

He went on to say that, in 2011 he was violent towards another

:00:59.:01:04.

Significantly, he said, he tried to strangle her.

:01:05.:01:12.

The jury was told that Ben Blakely often confiscated mobile phones

:01:13.:01:14.

This afternoon, a member of staff from One Foot

:01:15.:01:18.

Forward, a youth hostel where Jayden was staying here in Oxford city

:01:19.:01:24.

centre, described meeting J`yden two weeks after she moved in.

:01:25.:01:27.

She told the court that Jayden's boyfriend wouldn't let her have

:01:28.:01:31.

a shower or use the toilet at the youth hostel.

:01:32.:01:34.

This statement prompted Ben Blakely to shout lies,

:01:35.:01:36.

The jury heard that, not long after this happened, Hannah Ryan helped

:01:37.:01:44.

Jayden Parkinson take a pregnancy test and that came out positive

:01:45.:01:46.

She then recalled the phone call that Jayden had made initially

:01:47.:01:51.

Jayden was repeating what Bdn said to her

:01:52.:01:58.

so that Hannah could understand and hear what was being said.

:01:59.:02:00.

She told the court she was saying, 'what's that?

:02:01.:02:02.

If I am pregnant, you're gohng to push me off a bridge?

:02:03.:02:05.

If you lay a finger on me, I will call the police'.

:02:06.:02:08.

Ben Blakely denies murder and the trial continues.

:02:09.:02:15.

They're known as 'beds in sheds ` makeshift

:02:16.:02:17.

and often dangerous illegal homes being built in back gardens.

:02:18.:02:21.

It's been a problem in placds like London and Slough for xears.

:02:22.:02:24.

The City Council says it's demolished three such buildhngs

:02:25.:02:28.

in the last six months, and it's expecting more to follow.

:02:29.:02:32.

Our political reporter Helen Catt has more.

:02:33.:02:38.

An illegal home being demolhshed in London.

:02:39.:02:43.

It's a scene we're starting to see repeated in Oxford.

:02:44.:02:47.

The City Council believes there could be several hundred 'bdds

:02:48.:02:50.

in sheds' like these hidden in back gardens across the city

:02:51.:02:57.

Because they haven't been btilt in accordance with building

:02:58.:02:59.

regulations, there will be electrical safety

:03:00.:03:01.

issues, ventilation problems, adequate arrangement of rools.

:03:02.:03:02.

Everything that could be wrong, we are finding in beds in sheds

:03:03.:03:06.

The big problem for authorities is finding them in the first place

:03:07.:03:09.

One was discovered under construction in this street in

:03:10.:03:13.

Headington but from the strdet it would be almost impossible to tell.

:03:14.:03:18.

Just a few feet square, but intended for living in.

:03:19.:03:24.

The owner was eventually forced to demolish it himself.

:03:25.:03:28.

But with house prices 11 tiles the average salary in Oxford, it's easy

:03:29.:03:32.

At the moment we are seeing a really desperate shortage

:03:33.:03:38.

of affordable housing so people are left with few options.

:03:39.:03:43.

Unfortunately there are unscrupulous landlords out there who are taking

:03:44.:03:46.

advantage of these people and letting out substandard,

:03:47.:03:51.

unacceptable, illegal properties, and people have no option btt to

:03:52.:03:55.

The Government has taken its fight against unlawful houses to

:03:56.:04:01.

the air, analysing data collected from a spy plane it sent up in March

:04:02.:04:06.

It hopes its actions will stop families in Oxford ending up

:04:07.:04:12.

Thousands of cars built in Swindon are being recalled

:04:13.:04:19.

Honda says it will contact owners of vehicles thought to have

:04:20.:04:23.

A total of two million vehicles are affected worldwide.

:04:24.:04:28.

Among them are five models built at its Swindon plant

:04:29.:04:30.

It's only a few months since flooding caused widespread

:04:31.:04:38.

disruption in parts of the Thames Valley.

:04:39.:04:42.

As well as affecting hundreds of homes and businesses, many sporting

:04:43.:04:44.

With pitches flooded and fixtures cancelled, they were out of

:04:45.:04:49.

But, as Adina Campbell reports, with help, they're now getthng back

:04:50.:04:54.

Getting some much needed hydration from the sprinklers.

:04:55.:05:00.

But it's fair to say, the m`in pitch here at Aylesbury football club has

:05:01.:05:04.

For nearly 16 weeks, footballers were unable to play any homd games

:05:05.:05:11.

because of damage from the winter floods, causing the club to lose

:05:12.:05:16.

But repair work has now started to get things back to normal,

:05:17.:05:22.

thanks to more than ?6000 of cash from a Government lottery ftnd.

:05:23.:05:33.

There was a lot of sewage on the outside pitches.

:05:34.:05:36.

There was a hell of a lot of repair that needed to be done, so

:05:37.:05:40.

Almost ?25,000 of funding h`s been awarded to sports groups in our area

:05:41.:05:45.

including Henley Town Footb`ll Club, which has received ?2000.

:05:46.:05:50.

And nearly the same amount of money has been given to

:05:51.:05:53.

Bletchley Rugby Club and thd Town Cricket Club have also got

:05:54.:05:58.

But an even bigger amount of money has been given to

:05:59.:06:05.

This was how it looked back in February, the main pitch

:06:06.:06:12.

A lot of these clubs are the heart of their local colmunity,

:06:13.:06:16.

so it is the vibrancy of everyone playing there, the very

:06:17.:06:19.

talented or the people trying to get fitter for health reasons.

:06:20.:06:26.

The Academy team here and other squads within this club are now back

:06:27.:06:29.

to normal training sessions but without the thousands of pounds

:06:30.:06:31.

of funding from Sport England, this pitch wouldn't be in use.

:06:32.:06:43.

We have regular bulletins tomorrow during BBC Breakfast from 6:00am

:06:44.:06:45.

here on BBC One. Join us thdn if you can.

:06:46.:06:48.

Next up, the weather with Alexis. Good night.

:06:49.:06:50.

Good evening. A lot of more cloud than last night.

:06:51.:06:56.

With it, the chance of a shower but they will be very hit and miss.

:06:57.:06:56.

Cloud is increasing from the north overnight with

:06:57.:06:58.

Similar to last night, but feeling fresher and less humid.

:06:59.:07:07.

We start tomorrow with one or two showers but they will be few

:07:08.:07:13.

and far between and we will see them pop up as the day wears on.

:07:14.:07:17.

A mostly dry day with some sunny spells tomorrow and a high

:07:18.:07:20.

Temperature slightly lower than today where we reached 22 Cdlsius.

:07:21.:07:26.

Staying settled until the end of the day on Thursday.

:07:27.:07:29.

Friday, sunshine and showers with the odd thunderstorm.

:07:30.:07:31.

with the summary. Turning more unsettled as we head towards the

:07:32.:07:35.

weekend. Good evening. After what has been a

:07:36.:07:44.

glorious few weeks of summer sunshine for many of us, things are

:07:45.:07:48.

about to change over the next 2 hours. We are seeing the change

:07:49.:07:52.

marked by the weather front on the satellite image. To the south of

:07:53.:07:57.

that, 25 degrees, in Bournemouth for instance, but in the north and east,

:07:58.:08:02.

cooler, fresher air. That sets the scene for tomorrow. A cooler day. We

:08:03.:08:07.

will have hazy sunshine on offer, although cloudier skies than we have

:08:08.:08:12.

been used it over the past week Tonight we have thicker cloud

:08:13.:08:15.

bringing more two spots of drizzly rain for some southern areas. Many

:08:16.:08:19.

parts dry, but we have the rain heading in towards the far

:08:20.:08:21.

north-west for the early

:08:22.:08:23.
