Good evening. system and maybe learn something

:00:07.:00:07.

Detectives investigating thd murder of a Buckinghamshire businesswoman

:00:08.:00:10.

have started a new search for the weapon used to kill her

:00:11.:00:14.

Patricia Goodband died at her home outside Aylesbury

:00:15.:00:17.

Christopher Symons is serving life in prison for her murddr.

:00:18.:00:22.

That's why 15 officers are carrying out a fingertip search of a garden

:00:23.:00:31.

They believe the final clues may lie herd in the

:00:32.:00:37.

We are looking for items of her personal effects which are

:00:38.:00:43.

missing, which include a handbag, a mobile telephone and a di`ry.

:00:44.:00:47.

And also a weapon which we believe was used in that murder

:00:48.:00:52.

Patricia Goodband was 76 when she died in December 2012.

:00:53.:00:55.

Her body was found concealed in a well in the grounds of her home near

:00:56.:01:00.

Christopher Symons, her bushness partner for more than 30 ye`rs,

:01:01.:01:06.

was convicted of her murder and sentenced to life imprisonment.

:01:07.:01:10.

It's believed he was after her considerable financial estate.

:01:11.:01:13.

The house being searched is that of Robert Taft, a friend of Christopher

:01:14.:01:16.

Symons, who during the Patrhcia Goodband murder trial was convicted

:01:17.:01:21.

of perverting the course of justice and jailed for ten months.

:01:22.:01:24.

Police say though that todax's operation is down to new

:01:25.:01:28.

We had information that suggested that items of property may be

:01:29.:01:33.

at this address, we are acthng on that information and carrying out

:01:34.:01:36.

the search, so whilst the mtrder investigation is concluded, these

:01:37.:01:39.

items that are missing, it hs important that we locate thdse.

:01:40.:01:42.

His house was searched as p`rt of the original investigation

:01:43.:01:49.

Now officers could take up to three days to see if

:01:50.:01:54.

the answers to what exactly happened to Patricia Goodband lie here.

:01:55.:02:02.

Thousands of rail passengers have faced a day of disruption `

:02:03.:02:06.

following an incident this lorning at Banbury Station.

:02:07.:02:09.

Some commuters have spent more than five hours stuck on tr`ins

:02:10.:02:13.

The line through Banbury was closed, affecting Chiltern and

:02:14.:02:16.

Police, concerned for his wdlfare, used a taser

:02:17.:02:20.

He's in a serious condition in hospital and the incident has

:02:21.:02:25.

been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission.

:02:26.:02:29.

Those in charge of protecting vulnerable chhldren

:02:30.:02:32.

in Buckinghamshire say therd's a shortage of people prepardd to

:02:33.:02:36.

foster more than one child from the same family.

:02:37.:02:39.

The problem's so bad brothers and sisters are being split up or

:02:40.:02:42.

The decision to foster a child shouldn't be taken lightly.

:02:43.:02:51.

But for Christine it's been part of her life for the last 15 years.

:02:52.:02:55.

In that time she's looked after more than 150 children for anythhng

:02:56.:02:59.

At the moment she's caring for three ` two sisters and their brother

:03:00.:03:06.

It can be heartbreaking when they leave but when thdy come

:03:07.:03:11.

they are not staying, so yot have to build yourself against that,

:03:12.:03:14.

Watching them be happy, plaxing joining in with the family,

:03:15.:03:21.

because they are treated as part of our family and while thex are

:03:22.:03:26.

But in Buckinghamshire, there is a shortage of people like

:03:27.:03:31.

Christine prepared to look `fter children from the same family.

:03:32.:03:35.

It means many siblings kept together have to be found a

:03:36.:03:38.

In all, there are only 53 foster carers

:03:39.:03:43.

willing to look after children from the same family in Buckingh`mshire.

:03:44.:03:47.

It means around one third of all siblings are being separated.

:03:48.:03:53.

One concern is that the mondy paid to foster carers by the council for

:03:54.:03:58.

It's something those in charge say is under revidw.

:03:59.:04:03.

Allowances possibly haven't kept up with inflation in recent ye`rs,

:04:04.:04:10.

so what we are working on the moment is a new and improved package

:04:11.:04:13.

of allowances for all of our foster carers to make sure that we can

:04:14.:04:19.

attract foster carers and that they are properly rewarded for doing it.

:04:20.:04:28.

The problem isn't one which only affects Buckingh`mshire.

:04:29.:04:31.

But it is an issue the county needs to tackle.

:04:32.:04:37.

A fire at a recycling plant in Swindon has finally been put out

:04:38.:04:41.

Crews from the Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service have been working

:04:42.:04:46.

at the Averies site since the blaze started.

:04:47.:04:49.

Thousands of litres of water were needed to get

:04:50.:04:52.

The owners may now face acthon over breaching environmental perlits

:04:53.:04:58.

It?s thought to be the oldest of its kind.

:04:59.:05:00.

Now Helen House ` the hospice in Oxford for children

:05:01.:05:03.

with life`limiting conditions ` has been given a major makeover

:05:04.:05:06.

More than ?1 million has been spent on the home.

:05:07.:05:09.

A proud moment for the world's oldest children's hospice.

:05:10.:05:16.

The doors of the new look Hdlen House in Oxford officially open

:05:17.:05:20.

?1.5 million has been spent opening up the space to make it mord

:05:21.:05:25.

accessible for terminally ill children and their families,

:05:26.:05:29.

Her family regularly visit the hospice

:05:30.:05:35.

They are a rock for us as a family and have supported us all the way.

:05:36.:05:42.

We don't know what the future holds but they stpport us

:05:43.:05:44.

This is the first major redevelopment at Helen Housd since

:05:45.:05:50.

it opened more than 30 years ago and as well as creating more sp`ce it's

:05:51.:05:53.

gone high`tech, with interactive games like this for children,

:05:54.:05:58.

bringing the hospice well and truly into the 21st century

:05:59.:06:02.

Actor Tom Hollander was there to give his support and praise

:06:03.:06:06.

the dedicated staff, who have cared for his own niece, who suffdrs

:06:07.:06:10.

It is full of tweeting birdsong and laughter, people being very jolly `

:06:11.:06:19.

not in a strained way, in a really natural way, which is amazing.

:06:20.:06:25.

The people that run it have just got it right.

:06:26.:06:28.

The refurb may be over but the fundraising continuds.

:06:29.:06:30.

?5 million is needed every xear to run Helen Douglas House,

:06:31.:06:34.

so that families have somewhere safe and comfortable to spend valuable

:06:35.:06:38.

The weather's next ` starting with the regional forecast with @lexis.

:06:39.:06:45.

From everyone here though, goodnight.

:06:46.:06:48.

A lot of low cloud, mist and fog through the course of the

:06:49.:06:55.

night, with temperatures falling to a mild 12`13 in towns and chties.

:06:56.:06:58.

There will be clear skies and with the light winds, mhst

:06:59.:07:01.

On the hilltops, low cloud will cause diffictlt

:07:02.:07:08.

driving conditions first thhng for those out early tomorrow morning.

:07:09.:07:13.

We will see some sunny spells tomorrow.

:07:14.:07:15.

The risk of a shower, even the odd rumble of thunder

:07:16.:07:22.

in the afternoon, with tempdratures reaching a high of 20`22C.

:07:23.:07:23.

Warming up as we head through the rest of the week.

:07:24.:07:26.

Temperatures could be around 23 Celsius by Friday.

:07:27.:07:30.

Coming up next is the national forecast.

:07:31.:07:32.

week, with a greater risk of showers.

:07:33.:07:44.

When you compare it to what is happening over in the Americas. This

:07:45.:07:54.

is a hurricane and it is slamming into this peninsula right now. It is

:07:55.:07:59.

the most powerful hushry cane to hit this part of Mexico in 23 years The

:08:00.:08:03.

biggest impact could come from the rain. We could get two years rain in

:08:04.:08:10.

two days. S compare that to the wettest place in the UK today -

:08:11.:08:15.

Edinburgh. We had 11 mms of rain. Rain in Scotland. The heaviest is up

:08:16.:08:20.

to the Northern Isles. It should be quite a mild night. Any holes are

:08:21.:08:23.

getting filled

:08:24.:08:25.
