the town on the busiest night of the year.

It is the famous carnival, but tonight a spectacle we weren't

expecting. Homes are flooded. We have someone amongst the crowd.

What is happening? What I can tell you is that the

show goes on in spite of the chaos happening in the town centre about

a mile from us. The carnival is going ahead, that is the important

thing. But his -- but as I have told you earlier, there was a lot

of chaos in the town centre earlier because of torrential rain that we

had earlier which has flooded about six houses, and then the police

became very concerned about cracks that appeared in the wall of the

river, and they were concerned that that stretch of the war might

collapse, and some of its did collapse a bit later wrong. About

68 houses have been evacuated, the people from them have been put into

a rescue centre and that is where they are at the moment. The police

are there, the Environment Agency are there, the fire brigade are

there, and I am told there are concerns that the river level is

still rising as they are a bit worried about what will happen at

high tide tomorrow morning. That is for tomorrow. The show goes on.

They have had plenty to contend with today, because as well as the

rain, they have also had concerns as the carnival clubs about making

sure that their cards are in good working order for the shower head.

The police have been here, the vehicle inspectors have been here

because these particular cards have to meet stringent standards if they

are allowed to be taking part in the possession. A few were separate

enforcement notices saying they had to fix things in order to go into
