Welcome to Points West. The headlines tonight. Discovering what | :00:13. | :00:19.
happened in the M5 crash. As the inquest opens into those who died, | :00:19. | :00:24.
the police speak of their determination to learn the truth. | :00:24. | :00:29.
My job is to continue to conduct a professional, thorough and detailed | :00:29. | :00:32.
investigation in the hope that we can provide answers to the grieving | :00:32. | :00:38.
families, wo have lost loved ones. Also tonight. Tragic death at an | :00:38. | :00:41.
indoor climbing centre. A 73-year- old falls from the top of a sheer | :00:41. | :00:48.
wall. Making sure we remember them. Why thousands of war dead may not | :00:48. | :00:54.
be recorded on the National Roll of Honour. And join me here at the | :00:54. | :00:57.
mall at Cribbs Causeway to find out who these fans are queuing up to | :00:57. | :01:07.
:01:07. | :01:10. | ||
Good evening. The West Somerset coroner has begun the distressing | :01:10. | :01:14.
task of how to discover how the seven people died in the crash on | :01:14. | :01:21.
the M5. He opened tin quest. Police revealed they have had almost 200 | :01:21. | :01:25.
calls offering information about the accident, in which 34 vehicles | :01:25. | :01:34.
collided near Taunton. Six days since the terrible crash. Six days | :01:34. | :01:39.
since people lost their lives. And the inquests into their deaths were | :01:39. | :01:43.
opened by the West Somerset coroner Michael Rose. Opening the inquests | :01:43. | :01:48.
here in Taunton today, the coroner expressed his sympathy to the | :01:48. | :01:52.
families involved, saying each one of the deaths is a tragedy. People | :01:52. | :01:58.
bound on a normal evening's journey, suddenly thrust into the middle of | :01:58. | :02:02.
a horrific incident. "I hope it is of some comfort to them their | :02:02. | :02:07.
sorrow is shared by so many who live in this County." One by one | :02:07. | :02:12.
the victims were named. Their ages given. And details of how they were | :02:13. | :02:17.
identified, and for some, the causes of death were read out. | :02:17. | :02:22.
Terry Brice was 55 and from batch way. A lorry driver, but he was a | :02:22. | :02:29.
passenger in one of the trucks driven by a colleague who survived. | :02:29. | :02:32.
38-year-old Kye Thomas from Cornwall worked for the same firm, | :02:32. | :02:37.
and was driving another lorry. In both cases, it is not yet known | :02:37. | :02:44.
exactly how they died. 67-year-old Michael Barton was in the back seat. | :02:44. | :02:48.
The family were heading back to Windsor, he died from chest | :02:48. | :02:53.
injuries. Sitting next to him was his daughter Maggie, she sustained | :02:53. | :02:58.
fatal neck, chest and abdominal injuries. She was 30. Her sister | :02:58. | :03:05.
Emma, remainings in a coma, her fiance Chris Burbell survived. | :03:05. | :03:08.
Malcolm Beacham had been with his wife and daughter in Taunton and | :03:08. | :03:11.
were heading back home to Woolavington in different cars when | :03:11. | :03:17.
he was caught up in the crash. A head injury claimed his life. And | :03:17. | :03:21.
Tony Adams and his wife were driving to Newport after visiting | :03:21. | :03:25.
family in Taunton. Both in their 70s, their cause of death is not | :03:25. | :03:30.
yet known. Outside the inquest, the sighs and -- size and scale of the | :03:30. | :03:34.
police investigation became apparent, as the head of the the | :03:34. | :03:37.
major crime unit made this statement Since this heartbreaking | :03:37. | :03:41.
event occurred we have been working non-stop to establish what happened, | :03:41. | :03:46.
and those investigations are still very much ongoing. I am leading a | :03:46. | :03:52.
team of over 30 officers and staff, bringing together a vast range of | :03:52. | :03:57.
skills and expertise from roads policing, our collision | :03:57. | :03:59.
investigation unit, local officers and from the major crime | :03:59. | :04:03.
investigation team. We have received a huge number of calls and | :04:03. | :04:07.
messages, from members of the public and I am very grateful for | :04:07. | :04:11.
this. This has raised nearly 200 actions for us to follow up. | :04:11. | :04:15.
Colleagues from all three blue light services have been invited to | :04:15. | :04:19.
a vigil near the crash site tomorrow. Not a public gathering, | :04:19. | :04:24.
but a chance for victims, families, and those directly affected by the | :04:24. | :04:34.
crash to come together, in thanks, in grief, and for some, in prayer. | :04:34. | :04:39.
A man has died after falling from an indoor climbing wall. The | :04:39. | :04:43.
accident happened on Monday, and he was taken to hospital where he died | :04:43. | :04:49.
from his injuries. An investigation has been launched into the death. | :04:49. | :04:53.
It is an accident that has shocked the climbing community. The centre | :04:53. | :04:58.
here was busy on Monday night, when 73-year-old climber David Rothman | :04:58. | :05:03.
fell from a nine metre wall. We are not sure at this stage exactly what | :05:03. | :05:06.
happened, but he was taken to hospital, where he died yesterday | :05:06. | :05:11.
from his injuries. David Rothman was a passionate climber, with over | :05:11. | :05:14.
50 years experience. He had been coming to the Warehouse Centre | :05:14. | :05:19.
since its opened in 1994. He was well-known to the staff, and to | :05:19. | :05:23.
many members, he was married with two daughter, and two grandchildren. | :05:24. | :05:29.
David had been a member of the centre since we opened in 1994. He | :05:29. | :05:35.
has used our facilities on a weekly basis and was well-known locally | :05:35. | :05:40.
within the climbing community. He was well-known to staff and | :05:40. | :05:45.
regarded as a highly experienced climber. This is the first time we | :05:45. | :05:48.
have experienced such a serious incident at this centre. There are | :05:48. | :05:52.
round 400 climbing walls open to the public, with millions of people | :05:52. | :05:57.
using them every year. Rules vary between clubs and while beginners | :05:57. | :06:02.
have to undertake courses, more experienced climbers can sign | :06:02. | :06:08.
disclaimers and use the walls. Today, the British mountaineering | :06:08. | :06:11.
council sent condolences to the family, but said the vast majority | :06:11. | :06:16.
of experienced climbers who use walls on a regular basis, do so | :06:16. | :06:18.
without formal instruction and take responsibility for their own | :06:19. | :06:24.
actions, and accept the risks that climbing involves. Serious | :06:24. | :06:29.
incidents are rare. This is thought to be only the third ever fatal | :06:29. | :06:33.
accident at an indoor climbing wall. Investigations into what happened | :06:33. | :06:37.
are being carried out by the warehouse and health and safety | :06:37. | :06:41.
officers with the council. The centre here wanted to stress today | :06:41. | :06:50.
its focus on safety, and to say it remains open and fully operational. | :06:50. | :06:53.
This is your regional news programme, Points West and you are | :06:53. | :06:57.
very welcome. Stay with us, we have more to bring you, including | :06:57. | :07:00.
something hopefully to make you smile. We have been finding out | :07:00. | :07:03.
about the drink which is being produced again for the first time | :07:03. | :07:10.
in centuries. And what did Rovers new signing say about his new club | :07:10. | :07:17.
which raised a few eyebrows? Find out shortly. All that to come but | :07:17. | :07:23.
an investigation has begin into the death of a man at the site of the | :07:23. | :07:26.
former Cadbury chocolate factory at Keynsham. The police were called | :07:26. | :07:30.
after an incident involving a digger. The man is believed to have | :07:30. | :07:35.
been in his early 30, he was working for the firm EDS which has | :07:35. | :07:41.
been appointed to dismandle ma -- machinery. Tonight a spokesman for | :07:41. | :07:46.
Kraft Foods said their thoughts were with his family. The 19-year- | :07:46. | :07:49.
old ballet dancer from Farmborough who was attacked on a night out is | :07:49. | :07:54.
described as being in a stable condition in hospital tonight. Jack | :07:54. | :07:58.
Widdowson was assaulted and robbed after beinging separated from his | :07:58. | :08:02.
brothers last weekend. The teenager was found unconscious with serious | :08:02. | :08:07.
neck injuries. Police in Cardiff are continuing to question a 23- | :08:07. | :08:11.
year-old man, arrested in connection with the attack. | :08:11. | :08:17.
Tomorrow, is Remembrance Day and it seems although we promise to | :08:17. | :08:21.
remember, sop of those who died in service in the First World War have | :08:21. | :08:24.
been forgotten. A Wiltshire historian believes there could be | :08:24. | :08:30.
thousands of names on war memorials across the country which are not | :08:30. | :08:32.
recorded on the National Roll of Honour at the Commonwealth War | :08:32. | :08:39.
Graves Commission. Some may even be lying in unmarked Grays. -- graves. | :08:39. | :08:44.
The Great War was one we pledged never to forget. Yet some heroes | :08:44. | :08:49.
may have been overlooked and have not been given the national | :08:49. | :08:52.
recognition they deserve. The stories behind their names are | :08:52. | :08:58.
missing. The aim of this man is to bring those stories back. Ernest | :08:58. | :09:04.
Bennett, he died of his wounds in 1916 at home in Trowbridge, we have | :09:04. | :09:08.
Arthur Holborough who is in the Royal Marine artillery, he died at | :09:08. | :09:13.
home and he is buried in the cemetery. Percy Little. He died of | :09:13. | :09:19.
TB, which he contracted during his military service. He is buried in | :09:19. | :09:25.
Chippenham. And his grave has laid unmarked for years. It is almost as | :09:25. | :09:29.
if they never existed. I think that is one of the worst things that | :09:29. | :09:34.
could ever happen to a human being. I am here tat war memorial in | :09:34. | :09:36.
Chippenham. Up here is Percy Little's name. Although relatives | :09:37. | :09:43.
did try to find out more about him, or where he was buried, there was | :09:43. | :09:47.
nothing on the National Roll of Honour for the Great War. And even | :09:47. | :09:51.
after Percy's details were sent in, it still took more than a year | :09:51. | :09:56.
before his name was added. I never thought we would see the day, when | :09:56. | :10:00.
we would see him commemorated by the War Graves Commission. Only | :10:00. | :10:06.
with the intervention of James Grey MP I think that has happened. I | :10:06. | :10:11.
wonder how many more Percys are out there, yet waiting to be | :10:11. | :10:15.
commemorated. Percy's nephew can visit his resting place and share | :10:15. | :10:21.
the story of his heroic ancestor. was over the moon with it really. I | :10:21. | :10:25.
was really thrilled to think he had found out all this about it, and we | :10:25. | :10:32.
have been acknowledged at last. I hope he has success with lots lor | :10:32. | :10:37.
people in the same position. temporary cross has been ereblgted | :10:38. | :10:43.
as Percy's grave before an official one is put in its place. Richard | :10:43. | :10:46.
thinks there could be thousands of sown like him and says he will | :10:46. | :10:56.
carry on until every one of them is officially recognised. Well one | :10:56. | :11:00.
care home in Bath is determined to remember, and today it dedicated a | :11:00. | :11:06.
memorial to all those who have lost their lives in war and to the late | :11:06. | :11:09.
Harry Patch. Harry Patch who was born in consume down was the last | :11:09. | :11:17.
surviving Tommy until his death in July 2009. He was 111. His niece | :11:17. | :11:20.
now lives in Woodside care home and she was there to cut the ribbon, | :11:21. | :11:25.
along with others who knew him. think he would love it. It was nice | :11:25. | :11:28.
and simple and it is not glorifying anything, other than the people who | :11:28. | :11:33.
gave their lives. He was very very adamant there was no pleasure at | :11:33. | :11:38.
all in war and in fact he made this very convincingly so, by the fact | :11:38. | :11:43.
that until he was 100 he never spoke about the war. Of | :11:43. | :11:47.
tomorrow, on Remembrance Day itself, at 11 clock, we will have our | :11:47. | :11:53.
cameras out, at as many services as possible. Thousands of people | :11:53. | :11:58.
turned out in Wiltshire today, to honour the service of local troops | :11:58. | :12:02.
in Iraq and Afghanistan. 600 members of 32 Regiment, Royal | :12:02. | :12:07.
Artillery marched through the city. Guest o honour was Sir Geoff Hurst, | :12:08. | :12:16.
who paid triant to the soldiers bravery. They clapped and cheered | :12:16. | :12:20.
and they waived their flags in recognition of the service of these | :12:20. | :12:25.
local soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan.. It is a strong | :12:25. | :12:30.
emotion, they are representing our country. It is nice we can give our | :12:30. | :12:36.
thanks for them for what they have done. The regiment is based at lark | :12:36. | :12:40.
hill on Salisbury Plain. regiment hasn't been together for | :12:40. | :12:44.
niep years, so they are all here today, so really great event. | :12:45. | :12:49.
amount of support shown by the local people for what we have done | :12:50. | :12:54.
is unbelievable really. He has been away five times in the last nine | :12:54. | :12:59.
years. To Iraq and Afghanistan, it is nice to know that we are not | :12:59. | :13:02.
alone really. That there is other people, are grateful of the job | :13:02. | :13:06.
they are doing out there. Members of the regiment are responsible for | :13:06. | :13:10.
the army's drone, the unmanned eye in the sky aircraft that provide | :13:10. | :13:13.
critical pictures of the battlefield. There are several | :13:13. | :13:19.
version,, the large watch keeper and the smaller desert hawk. | :13:19. | :13:24.
whole system isise and years of the group. The troops took part in a | :13:24. | :13:28.
Service of Thanksgiving at Salisbury Cathedral. 32 regionment | :13:28. | :13:33.
will enjoy a break from operations, but it won't last long. Round 120 | :13:33. | :13:43.
:13:43. | :13:43. | ||
soldiers from the regiment are due to go to Afghanistan next May. The | :13:43. | :13:48.
actor Kris Marshall has been banned from driving after being found | :13:48. | :13:52.
asleep in his car. The 38-year-old who had one of the main roles in | :13:52. | :13:59.
the BBC comedy My Family was found in a supermarket car park in Wells | :13:59. | :14:03.
in October. Mr Marshall was December qualified from driving for | :14:03. | :14:07.
six months after admitting failing to supply a breath test while in | :14:07. | :14:11.
charge of a motor vehicle. In his defence it was said he was no | :14:11. | :14:15.
intending to drive the vehicle. The owners of a circus elephant now | :14:15. | :14:20.
being cared for here in the west have been charged with causing her | :14:20. | :14:24.
unnecessary suffering. Anne, was brought to Longleat Safari Park in | :14:24. | :14:29.
Wiltshire back in April, having been rescued from Roberts circus in | :14:29. | :14:32.
Peterborough. The own ir-- owners Bobby and Moira Roberts are facing | :14:33. | :14:36.
a criminal trial following an undercover investigation earlier | :14:36. | :14:41.
this year. The largest park to be created for more than a century has | :14:41. | :14:47.
been completed at the Olympic site in London with the help of a | :14:47. | :14:50.
Wiltshire schoolgirl. Hannah Clegg won a competition that means her | :14:50. | :14:55.
design has become a reality in East London. It is part of a garden | :14:55. | :15:00.
covering 250 acres at the Olympic Park. And someone aiming for | :15:00. | :15:05.
Olympic Gold next year in London has been sharing some of his | :15:05. | :15:10.
secrets with school-children in the west today. Dai Greene is the World, | :15:10. | :15:17.
Commonwealth and European Champion at 400 metre hurdles. Today he was | :15:17. | :15:27.
brought to cull ver hay school by his benefactor Barrie Wells.- -- | :15:27. | :15:31.
Barrie Wells. For Barry wells he's is living the Olympic dream from | :15:32. | :15:36.
the sidelines. His sport foundation spends nearly 200,000 a year | :15:36. | :15:42.
helping 1 athletes chasing glory in 2012 We pay for her physio because | :15:42. | :15:50.
she want s it to go with her. In Dai Greene's case I am helping to | :15:50. | :15:55.
train in watt we areer in South Africa. It is how can I turn you | :15:55. | :15:59.
into a medal prospect for 2012. Barrie made his money in finance, | :15:59. | :16:03.
but his grandfather was a top pole vaulter. Today he has brought new | :16:03. | :16:09.
World Champion Dai Greene to meet pupils. As Dai knows World | :16:09. | :16:14.
Champions have to start somewhere In primary school you have two | :16:14. | :16:17.
chairs going back-to-back with a cane over, so it didn't hurt if you | :16:17. | :16:22.
hit the cane, it just fell over. Maybe that is why, there is no fear | :16:22. | :16:27.
at this age. Getting it right in front of the best means more than | :16:27. | :16:31.
normal to these boys. It is nerve- wracking in case you embarrass | :16:31. | :16:35.
yourself, but it is really nice because it is someone that people | :16:35. | :16:41.
can look up to. He is the World Champion, if you want to be a | :16:41. | :16:46.
hurdler, you can like, he can be a role model. Barry's foundation was | :16:46. | :16:50.
set up to encourage an interest in sport. But he has found it | :16:50. | :16:55.
difficult going here. There has been no demand from schools. It is | :16:55. | :17:02.
very sad, if Dai can't give the time balk because the school | :17:02. | :17:10.
business hasn't been arranged. with 2012 on the horizon, Barrie is | :17:10. | :17:19.
as determined as his athletes to reach his goals here in the West. | :17:19. | :17:23.
Bristol rovers latest signing has admitted he didn't even know they | :17:23. | :17:30.
were in the bottom division of the Football League. Andy Dorman joined | :17:30. | :17:33.
Rovers yesterday on loan from Crystal Palace thinking he was | :17:33. | :17:39.
dropping down one level. The 29- year-old midfielder is manager Paul | :17:39. | :17:44.
Buckle's 19th signing since taking over. I thought they were still in | :17:44. | :17:49.
the one, but, obviously, you know League Two and kind of the run of | :17:49. | :17:53.
games they have got ahead, and the chance to move up the table, you | :17:53. | :17:56.
know, looking forward to getting in and playing and hopefully doing | :17:56. | :18:01.
well. Well, a Gloucestershire farmer has started producing what | :18:01. | :18:07.
is thought to be the first traditional pear liqueur for | :18:07. | :18:10.
centuries. Charles Martell is already known for his Stinking | :18:11. | :18:17.
Bishop cheese. Now he has restored an old distillery to begin making | :18:17. | :18:24.
the age-old tipple. In the shadow of a small pear orchard a rack | :18:24. | :18:29.
shackle distillery is alive again. It may look like a machine HG wells | :18:29. | :18:32.
would have been proud of but it is modern German engineering that has | :18:32. | :18:37.
given it a new lease of life. Chars saw this as a challenge once he | :18:37. | :18:41.
uncovered documents about the building. It is the Will of Mr Hunt | :18:41. | :18:46.
who died in 110. If you see there you see the word distilling house, | :18:46. | :18:50.
when he died it would have been closed because Government | :18:50. | :18:54.
legislation was coming into stop small distillers. The first | :18:54. | :19:00.
distillation of the season. It starts using this gooey mess. | :19:00. | :19:07.
Heated up to boiling point and once the pressure builds the magic | :19:07. | :19:11.
starts to happen. The alcohol evaporates then it makes its way to | :19:11. | :19:17.
the outside world. This is the first drop of Dymock red pear | :19:17. | :19:25.
liqueur distilled for 500 years. At first it is too strong to drink. | :19:25. | :19:29.
The methanol, that comes off first, that is why it is called the heads. | :19:29. | :19:33.
After that we get the heart, which is the pure alcohol or ethanol, | :19:33. | :19:39.
which we use for our drink. In the '70s Charles discovered one Dymock | :19:39. | :19:45.
red pear tree. He grafted it and has several. It means he can | :19:45. | :19:49.
produce something unique. It is quite quiteing. There is not a lot | :19:49. | :19:55.
of it but it is something we can do. We can do single varieties where as | :19:55. | :20:00.
the big boy, the huge distillers they can't do. We have to play to | :20:00. | :20:04.
our strengths and do something that is special. The resulting pear | :20:04. | :20:08.
liqueur isn't cheap but it is a taste of history and uniquely | :20:08. | :20:15.
Gloucestershire. Tough day for Steve there! Now, thousands of | :20:15. | :20:18.
people are at one of the west's main shopping malls tonight for the | :20:18. | :20:23.
switch on of the region's first big Christmas lights. Does that mean it | :20:23. | :20:28.
is officially Christmas? Nearly. It is not the only attraction up at | :20:28. | :20:33.
Cribbs Causeway tonight and we are not just talking about Imogen. You | :20:33. | :20:38.
are lovely Chris. Thank you. It may only be November, but in shopping | :20:38. | :20:43.
land that means the countdown to Christmas has begun N the last few | :20:43. | :20:47.
minutes the gentleman who is singing behind me, turned on the | :20:47. | :20:53.
Christmas light, here at Cribbs Causeway in fell X Factor style. He | :20:53. | :20:57.
is the 2009 runner-up Olly Murs, now if you don't know who he is, | :20:57. | :21:01.
then ask your kids or your grand kids because believe me, if you are | :21:01. | :21:05.
a 13-year-old girl they don't get much bigger than the man who is | :21:05. | :21:09.
singing behind me tonight. Now a little bit earlier on I managed to | :21:09. | :21:13.
elbow my way through the screaming fans, to have a quick chat with the | :21:13. | :21:18.
man himself. I started by asking him, just what he was looking | :21:18. | :21:23.
forward to about Christmas. Yeah, love Christmas. Favourite bit for | :21:23. | :21:26.
me is being with the family. I spend a lot of time away through | :21:26. | :21:31.
the year. Good to see my friends, family, open my stocking in the | :21:31. | :21:38.
morning. I am still a big kid at heart. Do you get an orange? No we | :21:38. | :21:45.
have gone hi-tech now. I get a CD. Chocolate, some boxers, I get some | :21:45. | :21:49.
little bits. My mum goes to the gadget store. Random present, some | :21:49. | :21:54.
I never really use but it is the thought that counts. Your life has | :21:54. | :22:00.
changed so much since X Factor, did you ever imagine that one day your | :22:00. | :22:04.
career would involve switching on Christmas lights. I have been to a | :22:04. | :22:11.
few events, it is great. I love it. It is good food. -- good fun. It is | :22:11. | :22:16.
incredible. It means a lot to me to do these things. What is on the | :22:16. | :22:21.
cards? You are busy doing the extra factor, what is that like. It is | :22:21. | :22:26.
exciting. We have a great year. We have four or five weeks left. So I | :22:26. | :22:30.
am going to put my effort into that. I am still all about the music. I | :22:30. | :22:35.
am trying to make sure people don't forget that, because people get | :22:35. | :22:38.
side tracked with the fact I am doing the extra factor but I'm | :22:39. | :22:44.
still a singer. I got a bit of smoke in my eye. They have gone to | :22:44. | :22:48.
town here. And this was the moment just a few minutes ago, when Olly | :22:48. | :22:53.
Murs switched on the Christmas lights here at Cribbs Causeway, | :22:53. | :23:01.
thousands of fans watched as row can see. Marking the start to | :23:01. | :23:07.
Christmas. Now, as I said, it may only be the start of November, but | :23:07. | :23:12.
people here still seem to have no problems feeling festive. Are you | :23:12. | :23:16.
looking forward to seeing Olly? we watch the X Factor all the time | :23:16. | :23:25.
on a Saturday and the extra factor. Olly Murs. What is so good about | :23:25. | :23:35.
:23:35. | :23:36. | ||
him? Everything. My festival knew is in the band. How you feel? | :23:36. | :23:40.
excited. Festive. Very festive. What you looking forward to most? | :23:41. | :23:46.
Olly Murs. I think Olly is just about to chat to the crowd. Do you | :23:46. | :23:51.
want to have a quick listen? Normally I don't come on my own. | :23:51. | :23:55.
Normally there is people behind me. Just about to sing his next song. | :23:55. | :23:59.
This is Christmas lights season, tomorrow night, the lights are | :23:59. | :24:05.
being switched on at cab bots circus and John Cleese is switching | :24:05. | :24:10.
on the lights in Bath. Now I have to say I am nour the envy of | :24:10. | :24:14.
thousands of teenage girls all across the land, having spoken to | :24:14. | :24:18.
this man. He is putting on quite a show here but for now, whatever you | :24:18. | :24:24.
are doing I have to say, and I hate to admit it, but I am feeling | :24:24. | :24:28.
slightly Christmassy. Back to you. Happy Christmas Imogen from all of | :24:28. | :24:34.
us here in the studio and you at home. Thank you. I hope I will see | :24:34. | :24:39.
you again before Christmas! Yeah. Never too early to offer a happy | :24:39. | :24:43.
Christmas. Maybe. Let us turn to the weather p. Of course we are | :24:43. | :24:48.
keen to know what it will be like keen to know what it will be like | :24:48. | :24:51.
for Armistice Day ceremonies tomorrow. It is going to be a | :24:51. | :24:53.
variable picture. We expect some rain but I think for the vast | :24:53. | :24:57.
majority of us, unless you are right on the extreme west we will | :24:57. | :25:02.
get away with dry weather. It was a different story this morning, you | :25:02. | :25:05.
might remember yesterday we were talking about the threat of heavy | :25:05. | :25:08.
rain in Somerset. A lot of that didn't materialise. But through the | :25:08. | :25:12.
rest of tonight it is a dry picture before we start to introduce | :25:13. | :25:16.
drizzle. More tomorrow morning and into the second half it turns | :25:16. | :25:23.
windier and that is when we import heavier rain in from the west. This | :25:23. | :25:27.
morning, the Met Office crystal ball got fogged up in terms of how | :25:27. | :25:31.
much rain arrived. The rest of this overnight period mostly dry with | :25:31. | :25:39.
drizzle. A lot of low cloud round. This cold front will introduce more | :25:39. | :25:45.
meaningful rain. The radar picks up how we did have this swathe of | :25:45. | :25:50.
heavy rain at 3.00 in the morning. And that was pretty much it. So no | :25:50. | :25:55.
heavy rain that followed on. 99% of you will be grateful for. As you | :25:55. | :26:00.
can see, the showers are a thing of the past. What will tot be a thing | :26:00. | :26:04.
of the past after clear skies is much more low cloud from the east. | :26:04. | :26:10.
As it does so the cloud base, we will get hill fog conditions. | :26:10. | :26:13.
Moderately breezy and drizzle following on, so that leaves us in | :26:13. | :26:16.
a situation not dissimilar to some of the earlier days of this working | :26:16. | :26:21.
week. Once again it will be a mild night down at 11 or 12. So, | :26:21. | :26:25.
tomorrow replicates the conditions of earlier this week. A murky start, | :26:25. | :26:30.
grey, drizzle so damp into the morning rush hour. Then the wind | :26:30. | :26:34.
starting to pick up. Here comes the cold front. Note the times is mid | :26:34. | :26:38.
afternoon into these districts, and by the evening rush hour draped | :26:38. | :26:42.
somewhere in this sort of area here, which means that for the Wells | :26:42. | :26:46.
carnival it might be a wet start but it improves through the evening | :26:46. | :26:51.
as the front disappears to the east. We will have a few showers | :26:51. | :26:55.
following on which will continue overnight for some into Saturday. | :26:55. | :26:59.
Tomorrow's temperatures 14 or 15, so a good deal move average, | :26:59. | :27:02.
despite the wind. Beyond that Saturday, once we lose early | :27:02. | :27:06.
showers and the cloud it will start to brighten up. Saturday afternoon | :27:06. | :27:12.
is not looking too bad. For Sunday it's a similar story. Gloucester | :27:12. | :27:18.
are playing Toulouse and that looks like it should be a dry affair. We | :27:18. | :27:24.
continue mild into next week. So no frost certainly. Thank you Ian. And | :27:24. | :27:30.
quickly, a reminder the DIYSOS team have their Children In Need special | :27:30. | :27:34. |
