Good evening. Welcome to Points West. The headlines: In court on | :00:18. | :00:22.
explosives charges. The man who had enough chemicals in his garage to | :00:22. | :00:27.
blow up a small housing estate. He said he was just bored. | :00:27. | :00:31.
You don't expect to know somebody who lives across the road from a | :00:31. | :00:36.
friend and think, "He's got those explosives." He could have done | :00:36. | :00:42.
major damage to people's lives. He already bankrolls Bristol City. | :00:42. | :00:48.
Now Stephen Lansdown is the new owner of Bristol Rugby Club. | :00:48. | :00:53.
The activist taking to the trees to protest about nuclear electricity | :00:53. | :00:57.
in Somerset. Have I passed? The teenagers taking | :00:57. | :01:05.
driving lessons in the school car park. | :01:05. | :01:08.
A man from Somerset has admitted making explosives which could have | :01:09. | :01:16.
seriously damaged homes within a 50 metre radius. 36-year-old Phillip | :01:16. | :01:20.
Leonard pleaded guilty to all charges at Taunton Crown Court. It | :01:20. | :01:26.
follows a police raid on his home in Burnham-on-Sea last month. | :01:26. | :01:31.
Phillip Leonard arriving in a prison van to face four charges of | :01:31. | :01:34.
making explosives for unlawful purposes. In the dock at Taunton | :01:34. | :01:39.
Crown Court, he admitted them all, quietly saying "Guilty, your | :01:39. | :01:43.
Honour" as each charge was put to him. It all stemmed from a police | :01:43. | :01:49.
raid on his home last month. What they and Army bomb disposal experts | :01:49. | :01:54.
found caused them to set up a 100 metre cordon, all houses within it | :01:54. | :01:59.
were evacuated. It transpired that Leonard, who had become fascinated | :01:59. | :02:03.
by explosives, had quietly been creating some very powerful | :02:03. | :02:09.
chemicals, capable of causing serious harm. This explosion was | :02:09. | :02:15.
caused by a substance identical in both size and make-up to that found | :02:15. | :02:19.
at Leonard's home. Shoe-bomber Richard Reid tried using something | :02:19. | :02:25.
similar to bring down an American Airlines flight in 2001. This | :02:25. | :02:34.
afternoon, we showed the full list of chemicals in his possession to | :02:34. | :02:41.
Sidney Alford. He had explosives suitable for making something very | :02:41. | :02:44.
dangerous, potentially-lethal. Simple possession of the substances | :02:44. | :02:49.
of course is not proof that there was any intention whatsoever. | :02:49. | :02:53.
Leonard appeared in court it was said the explosives were capable of | :02:53. | :02:58.
causing injury and damage within a 50 metre radius. Today, people | :02:58. | :03:02.
living in the same street were shocked as more details emerged. | :03:02. | :03:06.
How did he get hold of it? You don't expect to know somebody who | :03:06. | :03:10.
lives across the road from a friend and think, "He's got those | :03:10. | :03:14.
explosives." He could have done major damage to people's lives | :03:14. | :03:17.
around here. We have heard explosions before. Coming from that | :03:17. | :03:23.
house? Yes. There was a few at Christmas. We didn't think - I | :03:23. | :03:26.
don't know, we didn't think anything of it. Did you think it | :03:27. | :03:30.
was fireworks? Yeah, it was round about fireworks, Christmas. | :03:30. | :03:34.
Leonard's defence is he is no terrorist, just a bored man | :03:34. | :03:38.
tinkering with explosives. At Taunton Crown Court Phillip | :03:38. | :03:42.
Leonard's lawyer said there was no malicious motive to what was going | :03:42. | :03:47.
on in the house behind me that he never intended to use any of the | :03:47. | :03:52.
explosives he made either to harm anyone, or to cause damage. Leonard | :03:52. | :04:00.
has been remanded in custody. He will be sentenced later this month. | :04:00. | :04:05.
Police investigating the shooting of a 21-year-old following last | :04:05. | :04:09.
year's St Paul's Carnival have released new CCTV images from just | :04:09. | :04:13.
after the attack. Detectives say Rico Gordon was an innocent | :04:13. | :04:17.
bystander when at least three gunmen opened fire in Stapleton | :04:17. | :04:21.
Road. They now want to trace a white Vauxhall Combo van believed | :04:21. | :04:24.
to have been near the scene of the shooting. It drove away soon | :04:24. | :04:28.
afterwards. Two men have been charged with murder in connection | :04:28. | :04:32.
with his death. 22 cars have had their tyres | :04:32. | :04:37.
slashed in roads around Gloucester. The incidents happened between late | :04:37. | :04:41.
yesterday and this morning. People living in three streets in the | :04:41. | :04:44.
Barton and Treadworth areas reported the damage earlier today. | :04:44. | :04:50.
The police believe it may be a case of mindless vandalism. | :04:50. | :04:56.
Bristol Rugby has a new owner tonight. He's Stephen Lansdown, the | :04:56. | :04:59.
majority shareholder of Bristol City Football Club. Today it | :04:59. | :05:04.
emerged the multi-millionaire has been secretly bankrolling the rugby | :05:04. | :05:09.
club since 2008. Up until now he's only been referred to on the | :05:09. | :05:12.
company's documents as "the white knight". | :05:12. | :05:17.
He's been investing in Bristol sport for more than a decade. The | :05:17. | :05:20.
financial muscle behind Bristol City. Now Stephen Lansdown is | :05:21. | :05:25.
adding rugby to his portfolio. Previous Bristol owners have found | :05:25. | :05:30.
it a struggle since the game turned professional in the '90s. The club | :05:30. | :05:34.
almost went out of business. Talk of a merger with Bath also surfaced. | :05:34. | :05:39.
There was a proposal to move the club out of the West altogether. | :05:39. | :05:43.
Today, Bristol said the new ownership would mean an end to | :05:44. | :05:49.
those financial worries. Steve came in when we were considering all | :05:49. | :05:54.
sorts of terrible options. Without Steve's catalyst, I suspect the | :05:54. | :05:58.
club wouldn't be here today. Steve is not going to plough money at it, | :05:58. | :06:03.
that is not his style. We have a robust business plan that we will | :06:03. | :06:10.
stick to. We think that plan will get us into the premiership. | :06:10. | :06:16.
Running rugby clubs, you do make losses. The big three, Bristol, | :06:16. | :06:23.
Bath and Gloucester have lost money. Now we have "the white knight". How | :06:23. | :06:27.
wonderful he is prepared to investment Stephen Lansdown is a | :06:27. | :06:31.
self-made millionaire. The success of his financial services firm has | :06:31. | :06:38.
helped him build a personal fortune estimated at 750 million. His six- | :06:38. | :06:41.
figure investment into Bristol three years ago prevented the club | :06:41. | :06:45.
from going into administration. His money has funded their charge back | :06:45. | :06:49.
towards the Premiership this season, helping bring this ten new players. | :06:49. | :06:54.
Fans still expect a careful approach from their new owner. | :06:54. | :07:00.
all these people that have acquired wealth, they didn't get there by | :07:00. | :07:05.
being frivolous. They know how to spend their money and with advice | :07:05. | :07:10.
it will be spent wisely. The short- term future of the club remains at | :07:10. | :07:14.
the Memorial Stadium where the club have a rolling year-long lease. | :07:14. | :07:20.
They also have an unsigned agreement to move to the UWE | :07:20. | :07:23.
Stadium with Bristol Rovers. Long- term, it could be more commercially | :07:23. | :07:27.
attractive for Stephen Lansdown to have both Bristol City and now | :07:27. | :07:34.
Bristol Rugby together at a new home at Ashton Vale. | :07:34. | :07:39.
Earlier, I spoke to "the white knight", Stephen Lansdown. I | :07:39. | :07:45.
started by asking him why he revealed himself. I don't think I | :07:45. | :07:51.
quite revealed myself! No, Chris has been a lifelong friend of mine. | :07:51. | :07:56.
Obviously, I have been talking to him about the rugby club over many | :07:56. | :08:01.
years. Back in 2008/9 when times got very difficult for them, I | :08:01. | :08:06.
agreed to put some money into the club. I didn't want it to be made | :08:06. | :08:12.
public. I wanted to put it in to help him and that is what I did. | :08:12. | :08:18.
But time is moving on. Chris has looked to find other buyers and | :08:18. | :08:23.
they haven't come forward. He's got it into a very good position where | :08:23. | :08:27.
it is financially sound, it has a good budget and it is doing well in | :08:27. | :08:32.
the league. He wants to put it in a position where it's got financial | :08:32. | :08:38.
stability so they can push on. deep are your pockets? Well, I | :08:38. | :08:42.
think the reality of it is - I have learnt a lot of lessons in handling | :08:42. | :08:46.
Bristol City over the years, handling it well in some cases, and | :08:46. | :08:51.
poorly in others. You have to earn the right for investment. You have | :08:51. | :08:54.
to know the investment is going to be made in the right way for the | :08:54. | :09:00.
right reasons. I'm not looking to put loads of money in into the | :09:00. | :09:03.
rugby club. I'm looking to underwrite what they are doing to | :09:03. | :09:06.
make sure they do it in the right way to be successful and any money | :09:06. | :09:12.
they do earn, they can plough back in to the respective businesses to | :09:13. | :09:20.
enhance that success. Bristol City fans might be worried because your | :09:20. | :09:26.
interest is going somewhere else? Bristol City is my first port of | :09:26. | :09:32.
call. It has, always been and will always be. I want to see sport do | :09:32. | :09:37.
well in Bristol. If I can support the rugby club, I will do. It is a | :09:37. | :09:41.
question of working to the right budgets, David. That is what | :09:41. | :09:45.
business is all about and the rugby club as well as the football club | :09:45. | :09:50.
have to work on that basis. Will there be a ground share with | :09:50. | :09:54.
Bristol Rugby moving to the new stadium that you want to build for | :09:54. | :10:02.
Bristol City? Well, that is the inevitable question that everybody | :10:02. | :10:09.
asks. Any decision that we take will be for the benefit of Bristol | :10:09. | :10:13.
Rugby Club. Bristol Rugby is played at the memorial ground. I would | :10:13. | :10:22.
like to see it continue to be played there. If the two clubs were | :10:22. | :10:29.
in a play-off final, Bristol Rugby and Bristol City, on the same day, | :10:29. | :10:35.
where would you be? I would be with Bristol City. Ly be keeping tabs on | :10:35. | :10:40.
both games very closely. If I can make both I would. Thank you. | :10:40. | :10:44.
-- I will be keeping tabs on both games very closely. | :10:44. | :10:48.
Very interesting. One to watch, I think. | :10:48. | :10:51.
Now it is your regional news programme, BBC Points West. Stay | :10:51. | :10:55.
with us as there is much more still to bring you. | :10:55. | :11:00.
Including, can they make it to Wembley? We are live at Swindon who | :11:00. | :11:05.
hope they can paint the town red tonight. | :11:05. | :11:11.
What do Charles Dickens and Bath have in common? Find out shortly. | :11:11. | :11:16.
All that still to come. First, three anti-nuclear protesters have | :11:16. | :11:22.
spent the day up a tree on the site of the proposed Hinkley C reactor | :11:22. | :11:25.
in Somerset. The men claim EDF, which wants to build the new power | :11:25. | :11:30.
station, is carrying out work before it's granted planning | :11:30. | :11:34.
permission, something the company strongly denies. | :11:34. | :11:41.
Everyone saw what happened in Fukushima. We thought enough is | :11:41. | :11:46.
enough. They arrived at 4.00am getting on to a stretch of private | :11:46. | :11:52.
woodland owned by EDF. John, Dave and their friend, who was asleep, | :11:52. | :11:58.
have a clear message - nuclear is not needed. The public are buying | :11:58. | :12:02.
solar panels, putting them on their roofs. Why can't big business do | :12:02. | :12:06.
that? We have proof in the pudding that it works and it is reducing | :12:06. | :12:15.
people's energy bills. Yet, we need eight nuclear power stations. | :12:15. | :12:21.
trio were there to protect ancient trees from being felled. Unlike the | :12:21. | :12:25.
story that the protesters are portraying, the work we were going | :12:25. | :12:30.
to carry out was care and maintenance. Some removal of dead | :12:30. | :12:35.
trees and branches that are overhanging what is a public | :12:35. | :12:39.
footpath. EDF have permission to clear the area. It's moved badgers | :12:39. | :12:45.
and bats to new homes close by. Now it has some unexpected residents to | :12:45. | :12:48.
deal with. Clearly, we are in discussions with the protesters. We | :12:48. | :12:53.
have asked them to leave. They are trespassing. We will explore all | :12:53. | :12:58.
avenues that are open to us to try and remove them from the site. | :12:58. | :13:01.
you can see, there is work happening here today, but that is | :13:01. | :13:05.
nothing to do with the new reactor which is yet to be given final | :13:05. | :13:09.
planning permission. Instead, it is to remove waste material from when | :13:09. | :13:13.
the original power station was built in the late 1950s. It is | :13:13. | :13:16.
going to get cold over the next couple of days. How long are you | :13:16. | :13:20.
prepared to stay for? Well, I have lived in these conditions before, | :13:20. | :13:26.
so it is a matter of having enough equipment with you. And a good | :13:26. | :13:29.
sleeping bag and enough good clothes. If the new reactor is | :13:30. | :13:34.
approved it could be providing enough energy for five million | :13:34. | :13:41.
homes by 2020. A West charity is giving special | :13:41. | :13:46.
training to nurses to help them care for children who are unable to | :13:46. | :13:50.
breathe for themselves. Yes, Breathe-on UK has been concerned | :13:51. | :13:55.
about a number of incidents where nursing staff were unable to use a | :13:55. | :13:57.
home ventilator. Matthew hill has been to meet one | :13:57. | :14:05.
family who has been affected. Sophie Patmore is kept alive by a | :14:05. | :14:09.
machine that breathes for her. Her mother has always looked after the | :14:09. | :14:19.
:14:19. | :14:19. | ||
four-year-old during the day, but at night they rely on nurses. | :14:19. | :14:23.
Effectively, if that builds up, it stops the ventilator from giving | :14:23. | :14:28.
her a breath. Two years ago, Sophie nearly died when a nurse from a | :14:28. | :14:32.
private agency had not spotted that the suction machine used to clear | :14:32. | :14:36.
her airways wasn't working because it was full. The oxygen levels in | :14:36. | :14:40.
her blood fell to 7% but fortunately, her parents were able | :14:40. | :14:46.
to take over from the nurse. the time at this time the nurse was | :14:46. | :14:50.
shouting, "Let me call an ambulance." What needed to happen | :14:50. | :14:54.
was the situation needed to be dealt with. It moves around like | :14:54. | :14:59.
that. This is the first of a new type of training course that is | :14:59. | :15:05.
being laid on to prevent similar mistakes happening again. You need | :15:05. | :15:08.
a refresher, every time new people are involved, they need to be given | :15:08. | :15:14.
the opportunity to be trained. So maintaining standards, really, is | :15:14. | :15:17.
crucial. Fortunately, things rarely go wrong. If they do, we need to | :15:17. | :15:22.
make sure everyone knows what they are doing. Ten years ago there were | :15:22. | :15:26.
100 children living on long-term ventilation at home. But with | :15:26. | :15:30.
advances in medical technology, those numbers have grown to almost | :15:30. | :15:34.
1,000 and this trend will continue. That is why these mannequins | :15:34. | :15:40.
couldn't have come along at a better time. We tend to keep a | :15:40. | :15:47.
suction catheter on the end of the tube. Around 100 nurses and home | :15:47. | :15:50.
support workers will receive ongoing training throughout the | :15:50. | :15:54.
region. It is hoped families like the Patmores won't find themselves | :15:54. | :16:03.
ever having to take over in an emergency again. | :16:03. | :16:08.
Lots of 17-year-olds spend months saving up for driving lessons, but | :16:08. | :16:12.
at one school in North Somerset they are part of the timetable. In | :16:12. | :16:16.
a national first, students are being offered a qualification in | :16:17. | :16:26.
driver training which should improve road safety. | :16:26. | :16:33.
Take it nice and steady. Behind the wheel, behind school gates, these | :16:33. | :16:37.
teenagers at Nailsea School are learning to drive in the car park. | :16:37. | :16:43.
After turning 17, students here can sign up to this unique course to | :16:43. | :16:47.
gain a BTEC in Driving and Driver Education. The more young people | :16:47. | :16:51.
there are in the car, the more distraction there is, the more | :16:51. | :16:54.
potential danger there is. The people who take this course will be | :16:54. | :16:57.
used to that distraction, they will understand the dangers. They will | :16:57. | :17:00.
have coping strategies from the course that they can use when they | :17:00. | :17:05.
are driving with their friends. is the only course of its kind in | :17:05. | :17:09.
the country, designed here in Nailsea. Today, to launch it, the | :17:09. | :17:14.
once well-known face of road safety, known as the Green Cross Code Man, | :17:14. | :17:19.
others Darth Vader from Star Wars, Bristol's very own Dave Prowse. | :17:19. | :17:23.
There is nothing better than being able to rip up your L-plates when | :17:23. | :17:27.
you pass your driving test. It is wonderful. Not only does it teach | :17:27. | :17:33.
them driving skills, it teaches them car maintenance, too. | :17:33. | :17:37.
According to research, one in five new drivers crash in the first six | :17:37. | :17:41.
months of passing their driving test. Car accidents are also the | :17:41. | :17:45.
number one cause of deaths among young people here in the UK. | :17:45. | :17:48.
Statistics show an 18-year-old driver is more than three times as | :17:48. | :17:53.
likely to be involved in a car crash than a 48-year-old. It is | :17:53. | :17:57.
about your attitude of how you drive on the road and it brings a | :17:57. | :18:00.
whole new aspect to road safety which I hadn't considered before. | :18:00. | :18:03.
You don't want to be a burden on your mum and dad all the time, so | :18:04. | :18:10.
it is good to get it over and done with. This course is great. | :18:10. | :18:14.
year-long programme includes 30 hours of driving, not on the open | :18:14. | :18:17.
road. At the end, when students collect their BTEC qualification, | :18:17. | :18:21.
they can immediately go for their theory test. It is proving popular | :18:21. | :18:26.
and the school is hoping it can be rolled out across the country later | :18:26. | :18:30.
this year. I bet it is a popular course! I | :18:30. | :18:35.
remember when I passed my test, second time, though! | :18:35. | :18:39.
You can remember that? Were you first time? | :18:39. | :18:46.
Moving on! We move on to sport on the field tonight and Wembley is | :18:46. | :18:50.
calling for Swindon Town, if they can win their Johnstone's Paint | :18:50. | :18:54.
Trophy Area Final against Barnet this evening. What could go wrong?! | :18:54. | :18:58.
Alistair is here. Are they favourites? So much could go wrong. | :18:58. | :19:03.
They are favourites. Paolo di Canio was bullish yesterday, saying they | :19:03. | :19:07.
are the better team and it is up to them to prove it now. He had the | :19:07. | :19:11.
players training in the snow on Saturday afternoon after their game | :19:11. | :19:15.
was called off at the weekend. No such problems anticipated tonight. | :19:15. | :19:22.
The club hoping for a crowd of 9,000 fans. BBC Wiltshire's Chris | :19:23. | :19:27.
Wise will be commentating on the game. He is at the County Ground. | :19:27. | :19:31.
It seems the manager is confident, the fans are confident, is it a | :19:31. | :19:36.
little bit of complacency that is the biggest problem? Let me tell | :19:36. | :19:41.
you, it is freezing at the County Ground tonight. Complacency could | :19:41. | :19:44.
be an issue for Swindon. They will be hoping not. They are the | :19:44. | :19:49.
favourites to win the game. There's 20 points between these sides in | :19:49. | :19:52.
the League Two table. After the result in the first leg, Swindon | :19:52. | :19:57.
will be expected to push on and progress to Wembley. They have won | :19:57. | :20:02.
five games straight now in the league, though Barnet are in a rich | :20:02. | :20:07.
vein of form, winning four on the bounce. They come here in form | :20:07. | :20:13.
tonight. It will be a tough game. Wembley is the massive incentive. | :20:13. | :20:18.
As far as the manager, Paolo di Canio, he never got to play at | :20:18. | :20:21.
Wembley? He didn't. He never had the opportunity. We will remember | :20:21. | :20:25.
that famous goal he scored against Manchester United in the FA Cup. | :20:25. | :20:30.
West Ham never made it to Wembley that year. He's got it drummed into | :20:30. | :20:33.
his players that they must perform and they must get a result. He | :20:33. | :20:37.
wants to take the fans to Wembley. He wants to take the players to | :20:37. | :20:45.
Wembley. He wants to be there himself. It will look fantastic on | :20:45. | :20:50.
his CV. After the disappointment of the play-off final, do Swindon need | :20:50. | :20:56.
to have some good memories? I think to be honest, the difference | :20:56. | :21:00.
between that game and the potential of playing in the Johnstone's Paint | :21:00. | :21:03.
Trophy is there was so much riding on that play-off. It didn't work | :21:03. | :21:07.
out for Swindon on that particular occasion. This is a competition | :21:07. | :21:11.
that perhaps doesn't carry the same kudos as the play-offs. They will | :21:11. | :21:17.
feel if they can get rid of the demons, it will be a fantastic | :21:17. | :21:20.
opportunity to win the trophy. Thank you. It is also an important | :21:20. | :21:24.
night for Cheltenham Town. The League Two leaders are playing | :21:24. | :21:31.
Crawley. They sit in fourth place in the table. Cheltenham beat | :21:31. | :21:35.
Crawley in August and they haven't lost away from home in the league | :21:36. | :21:39.
for four-and-a-half months. We have always said we want to be up there | :21:39. | :21:43.
and we want to be looked on as serious contenders. We have never | :21:43. | :21:47.
hidden that fact. One or two are taking notice more. It is about | :21:47. | :21:52.
making sure we believe in ourselves, making sure we keep our feet on the | :21:52. | :21:59.
ground but realise what it's got that's got us there. | :21:59. | :22:06.
Two big games tonight. Commentary on BBC Wiltshire and BBC glot ter | :22:06. | :22:10.
shire. -- Gloucestershire. We will have the details in the Ten O'Clock | :22:10. | :22:15.
News. Now, celebrations to mark the | :22:15. | :22:18.
bicentenary of the birth of Charles Dickens have been taking place | :22:18. | :22:22.
across the country today. His connections to Portsmouth, where he | :22:22. | :22:27.
was born, Rochester where he grew up and London where he lived and is | :22:27. | :22:32.
buried are well documented. Did you know Bath also has reason to | :22:32. | :22:37.
celebrate the anniversary? Laura Jones has been finding out why. | :22:37. | :22:42.
And now continued Mr Pickwick, looking round on his friends with a | :22:42. | :22:46.
good-humoured smile... The Pickwick Papers, Dickens first full novel | :22:46. | :22:51.
brought him critical acclaim and fame and was the springboard for | :22:51. | :22:57.
many more stories and characters. Where shall we go next? | :22:57. | :23:00.
adventures feature Samuel Pickwick and three others as they travel | :23:00. | :23:04.
around the English countryside. Well, said that gentleman, if you | :23:04. | :23:09.
leave me to suggest our destination, I say Bath. I think none of us have | :23:09. | :23:15.
ever been there. Today the city is celebrating that connection. Here | :23:15. | :23:24.
we have the bust of Dickens. Local author Andrew Swift knows all about | :23:24. | :23:30.
the main points of interest. honour of Dickens' 200th birthday, | :23:30. | :23:36.
he is wearing a laurel wreath. party hat? Indeed! This is where Mr | :23:36. | :23:42.
Pickwick came to take the waters, he had several glasses of water a | :23:42. | :23:47.
day and said he felt much better for it. His friends said they | :23:47. | :23:50.
didn't know there was anything wrong with him in the first place! | :23:50. | :23:54.
Dickens had stayed in Bath and various characters were named after | :23:54. | :24:01.
real people he had met there, including Quilp and Mr Pickwick | :24:01. | :24:07.
himself. Dickens is such a great author. It is something to | :24:07. | :24:14.
celebrate. Obviously, the Pickwick Papers was his first big success, | :24:14. | :24:18.
his first great book. The scenes in Bath are wonderful. Bath is very | :24:18. | :24:23.
proud of its connection with Dickens. It has to be said the | :24:23. | :24:28.
feeling was not mutual. After a visit to the city, Dickens | :24:28. | :24:32.
described Bath as "a cemetery full of old people who have paved the | :24:32. | :24:37.
streets with their tombstones and who wander around trying to look | :24:37. | :24:41.
alive". It's changed since then, though! No hard feelings. Bath has | :24:41. | :24:44.
moved on and is basking in the glory of being connected with one | :24:44. | :24:53.
of the country's best-loved authors. What the Dickens?! I didn't know he | :24:54. | :25:02.
thought that about Bath! The thought that about Bath! The | :25:02. | :25:04.
weather has been Dickensian, though. We heard it was freezing at the | :25:04. | :25:07.
County Ground. It will get a lot colder than that | :25:08. | :25:15.
tonight. I wouldn't be surprised if we see the highest number of places | :25:15. | :25:20.
getting to minus double figures temperature-wise. The legacy of | :25:20. | :25:24.
that tomorrow will be a very cold day. There will be a good deal of | :25:24. | :25:27.
cloud around. The one exception the west of Somerset. It will remain | :25:27. | :25:32.
dry throughout the course of the day. We continue with variable | :25:32. | :25:36.
amounts of cloud around. A clearer slot coming through during the | :25:36. | :25:41.
course of tonight. This flow from the east bringing us drier air off | :25:41. | :25:46.
the near continent. These fronts out here remain out towards the | :25:46. | :25:51.
west for the time being. We expect those to become more of a feature | :25:51. | :25:56.
as we go into Saturday. For tonight, no threat of any rain. It will | :25:56. | :26:02.
remain a dry night. I mentioned that clear slot - it is extending | :26:02. | :26:10.
its way westwards. Temperatures will drop away. With that dry air, | :26:10. | :26:14.
we are not expecting any fog. Frost will be a different story. These | :26:14. | :26:21.
temperatures will be fairly widespread in the urban areas. It | :26:21. | :26:26.
will be a question mark over whether we will get any lower than | :26:26. | :26:31.
that. Either way, tomorrow starts on a cold note. We will have more | :26:31. | :26:36.
cloud invading into the early hours of the morning. The cloud will | :26:37. | :26:44.
remain extensive, like today. You will notice the winds look fairly | :26:44. | :26:48.
light. It will be cold, especially with the lack of sunshine. Some | :26:48. | :26:53.
places not getting above Frysing. Despite those light winds, if you | :26:53. | :26:58.
are exposed to it in any shape or fashion, these temperatures will be | :26:58. | :27:08.
:27:08. | :27:10. | ||
more readily fashion -- above freezing. A lot of uncertainty on | :27:10. | :27:16.
this. The forecast models from the Met Office keen to bring those | :27:16. | :27:20.
fronts through. Our expectation is we will see some patchy light rain | :27:20. | :27:26.
developing, becoming more extensive through Friday. | :27:26. | :27:33.
You have had a few problem-causing weather fronts! You are doing | :27:33. | :27:36. |
