Good evening. A teenager who was stabbed to death in Bristol this | :00:11. | :00:15.
week has been named as Nicholas Robinson ` a 19`year`old sttdent who | :00:16. | :00:18.
lived in the city. Police are appealing for witnesses and say at | :00:19. | :00:22.
this stage they don't know what the motive could have been. Michelle | :00:23. | :00:26.
Ruminski reports. Recently engaged, Nicholas Robinson | :00:27. | :00:28.
was training as a bricklayer until his life was cut short. It hs | :00:29. | :00:38.
tragic, absolutely tragic. He is a 19`year`old boy, at the start of his | :00:39. | :00:43.
life, studying to make a better life for himself, and that has all been | :00:44. | :00:47.
taken away. He moved to Bristol from Birmingham three years ago `nd was | :00:48. | :00:51.
living here in a flat in Ron Jones House in Jamaica Street. Police say | :00:52. | :00:55.
he was stabbed several times in a communal stairway just before 8 30pm | :00:56. | :00:58.
on Wednesday night. It's believed he then ran outside into this dnclosed | :00:59. | :01:02.
parking area in Lower Gay Street. Despite the efforts of paraledics he | :01:03. | :01:07.
died of his injuries. Three people arrested in connection with his | :01:08. | :01:10.
death have been released on bail. Police say they don't know the | :01:11. | :01:14.
motive and need the public's help to catch his killer. I am focusing on | :01:15. | :01:23.
one particular person who w`s seen running away from Ron Jones House, | :01:24. | :01:31.
and that is why I want anybody with any information on who that person | :01:32. | :01:35.
might be to come forward. In fact they want to hear from anyone who | :01:36. | :01:39.
was in the area that night ` who might have the vital piece of | :01:40. | :01:42.
information they need to put Nicholas' attacker behind b`rs. | :01:43. | :01:45.
Police have released CCTV ilages of a man they're looking for after a | :01:46. | :01:48.
76`year`old woman was beaten about the head in her own home. Jdan | :01:49. | :01:52.
Taylor was left bloodied and severely bruised after answdring the | :01:53. | :01:55.
door to her attacker ` who then forced his way inside her Totterdown | :01:56. | :02:00.
home on the 28th January. Police would like to talk to the m`n seen | :02:01. | :02:04.
in this image ` who was in the area at the time of the attack. | :02:05. | :02:08.
Volunteers from around the country are arriving to the Somerset village | :02:09. | :02:11.
of Moorland to help with thd clear`up operation. More th`n 5 0 | :02:12. | :02:15.
people have signed up onlind to help ` shifting sandbags, moving wood and | :02:16. | :02:18.
getting rid of everything that's been ruined. Scott Ellis has spent | :02:19. | :02:21.
the day in Moorland. Soggy sandbags. Weighing up to 0 | :02:22. | :02:26.
kilogrammes each. In Moorland alone there are 50,000 of them to get rid | :02:27. | :02:31.
of. Fortunately, there's no shortage of volunteers. To haul sandbags out | :02:32. | :02:37.
of back gardens and onto thd main road. There is many local pdople | :02:38. | :02:45.
here, but volunteers are coling in from Leeds, London, Manchester. | :02:46. | :02:50.
Because you have got to get all the sandbags onto the road? That's | :02:51. | :02:56.
right. They've asked us if we can take each bag individually, piled | :02:57. | :03:04.
against the road. Across Solerset there are 100,000 of them to clear | :03:05. | :03:08.
away. Each village will be helped in turn. Moorland had a number of | :03:09. | :03:15.
properties flooded, and we need to get it back to a normal est`te as | :03:16. | :03:22.
quickly as we can. Moorland's flood victims appreciate the help they are | :03:23. | :03:25.
getting, as they clear out what they could not save from the floodwater. | :03:26. | :03:31.
We waded into this house three weeks ago to find a disgruntled homeowner. | :03:32. | :03:37.
How was it? It is not great. Today she was back. The ground floor of | :03:38. | :03:40.
her pre`flooding world stacked up on the lawn ready for disposal. | :03:41. | :03:45.
Grateful for some spring sun. It is a beautiful day, the Sun is shining, | :03:46. | :03:50.
loads of activity. It reminds me of just before the floods, everyone | :03:51. | :03:55.
here. It is good to see, thd last few weeks have just been a ghost | :03:56. | :04:02.
town. How are things now? Bdtter, getting better. And a neighbour | :04:03. | :04:08.
agrees. Life's on the mend. You just want to see the back of it, and | :04:09. | :04:12.
start rebuilding and start `gain. Hopefully, touch wood, it ndver | :04:13. | :04:15.
happens again. Some neighbotrs joke they should hang on to their | :04:16. | :04:19.
sandbags just in case. But perhaps it's best to have a good cldar out | :04:20. | :04:23.
in a village that's suffered so much in the last month. | :04:24. | :04:28.
While the human misery has been uppermost in people's minds, it s | :04:29. | :04:31.
becoming clear that the floods are causing serious problems for | :04:32. | :04:35.
wildlife too. Conservationists say the barn owl population ` which | :04:36. | :04:38.
dropped by three quarters dtring the last floods ` has been badlx hit | :04:39. | :04:42.
again. And they say wildlifd generally is struggling, with 2 ,000 | :04:43. | :04:51.
acres of land still underwater. Normally when we have floods down | :04:52. | :04:57.
here, there is a patchwork puilt, a few bits of elevated land where | :04:58. | :05:01.
small mammals, hibernating hnsects, will have survived, and thex can | :05:02. | :05:04.
spread out and repopulate the area quite openly. We are having to move | :05:05. | :05:10.
miles and miles across. It hs going to take a long time before that land | :05:11. | :05:13.
supports wildlife again. Residents living near to arly bases | :05:14. | :05:16.
preparing to receive thousands of soldiers from Germany are bding | :05:17. | :05:19.
asked for their thoughts on proposals for the move. Garrison | :05:20. | :05:21.
towns around Salisbury Plain will house around 4,000 troops and their | :05:22. | :05:25.
families. The ?800 million project includes up to 1,400 new holes, and | :05:26. | :05:28.
today Andrew Murrison visitdd Larkhill barracks to check on | :05:29. | :05:38.
progress. Clearly it's a huge logistical challenge. I am happy to | :05:39. | :05:44.
say it is going very well, but it is important that we have local people | :05:45. | :05:48.
commenting on the plans and proposals, which they are able to do | :05:49. | :05:51.
until the 1st of April. Some of the worlds finest j`zz | :05:52. | :05:53.
musicians have arrived in Bristol for the city's second International | :05:54. | :05:57.
Jazz Blues festival. The three day event got under way at the Colston | :05:58. | :06:00.
Hall this evening. It features a programme of concerts, workshops and | :06:01. | :06:03.
jam sessions showcasing the entire history of jazz. | :06:04. | :06:11.
There's of course more news and information on your local BBC Radio | :06:12. | :06:16.
Stations and online. We will be here with you throughout the weekend But | :06:17. | :06:20.
for now lets get the latest weather with Jemma. | :06:21. | :06:21.
for Thank you. It certainly is ` much | :06:22. | :06:27.
more settled picture as we go into March, after the wet and windy days | :06:28. | :06:31.
of winter. Something much more akin to a spring for the next few days. | :06:32. | :06:36.
We are on for a prolonged spell of dry weather. Recent sunny spells, | :06:37. | :06:42.
where we get the sunshine wd will get enough to push the tempdratures | :06:43. | :06:46.
up very nicely. A mild spell ahead, continuing the theme of tod`y. It is | :06:47. | :06:51.
all due to high pressure to the east of us, keeping low pressure to the | :06:52. | :06:56.
West. This low pressure would encroach tonight, a bit of dampness | :06:57. | :07:03.
which will linger on into the morning. But only for a little bit. | :07:04. | :07:07.
It will be a little foggy when we wake up, but that will be btrnt off | :07:08. | :07:13.
by the sunshine by the afternoon. A brisk but warm southerly brdeze | :07:14. | :07:17.
temperatures easily touching 15 Celsius in many places by the | :07:18. | :07:19.
afternoon. Clouding over tolorrow night, 20 of sunshine on Monday | :07:20. | :07:25.
Clouding on Sunday afternoon into Monday and Tuesday. It is a much | :07:26. | :07:31.
cloudier story. For the West Country, and much | :07:32. | :07:32.
that in just a few minutes with the National forecast. London's outlook, | :07:33. | :07:38.
plenty of sunshine. Hello. You have got to love the | :07:39. | :07:42.
British weather. For a time this afternoon, it felt like we had | :07:43. | :07:47.
skipped ahead a couple of months as temperatures reached 17 degrees | :07:48. | :07:50.
across parts of southern England. That is the average for the middle | :07:51. | :07:56.
of May. Across Scotland, stepping back into winter. Snow flurries | :07:57. | :07:57. |
