told the BBC they're being "torn apart" by new rules on immigration.

Britons who want to bring a partner here from outside Europe now have to

earn over ?18,600 ` as the government vows to cut immigration.

Here's Martin Jones. Trevandran Rungasamy from Swindon

has served his country. He was born in South Africa, but was in the

British Army for ten years, serving in Afghanistan and Iraq. He's now a

UK citizen. But he can't brhng his wife and children here becatse he

doesn't earn enough. I live for my kids and my whfe. They

are what drives me. I wake tp for them every morning. It is jtst a sad

situation I am in right now. It is emotionally breaking me and I feel

have also been caught by thd new rules ` introduced two years ago.

Molly had to live in China for a year. They only communicated online.

I would come home every evening to the realisation that my wifd was

thousands of miles away on her own and the boys were without both their

mum and their dad. The Home Office said in a statement

they "welcome those who wish to make a life in the UK" though th`t

mustn't be "at the taxpayer's expense". They add migrants "must

speak our language and pay their way" It's Conservative policy to

reduce net migration to the tens of thousands, which is one of the

reasons behind the new rules. But the income requirements are

currently subject to a legal challenge. If they are overturned in

the courts, it'll make it mtch harder for the Government to meet
