Welcome to BBC Points West with Will Glennon and Alex Lovell. | :00:00. | :00:09.
There are calls for changes to the St Pauls carnival | :00:10. | :00:12.
One man is still in hospital and police are investigating | :00:13. | :00:22.
the violence that marred a day and night of celebration. | :00:23. | :00:27.
There are 48 hours after St Paul's Carnival and safety questions are | :00:28. | :00:31.
being asked. If people are positively | :00:32. | :00:33.
uncomfortable physically with so many people crowded in in n`rrow | :00:34. | :00:39.
streets. Millions of pounds is | :00:40. | :00:42.
on its way west to help cre`te jobs, build homes | :00:43. | :00:46.
and encourage innovation Sahling Sailing | :00:47. | :00:55.
into the record books ` we leet the As the blue screens are going up | :00:56. | :01:06.
there in the Forest of Dean, rumours are rife that a galaxy far, far away | :01:07. | :01:08.
has come to the West Countrx. There are calls tonight | :01:09. | :01:11.
for changes to the way the St Paul's Carnival is run following | :01:12. | :01:14.
six stabbings on Saturday nhght One man remains in hospital | :01:15. | :01:17.
in a stable condition. Detectives believe | :01:18. | :01:20.
the stabbings are not connected Questions are now being askdd | :01:21. | :01:24.
about the safety of the event, as more than 100,000 people flooded | :01:25. | :01:36.
the narrow streets. The aftermath of the carniv`l, 0 | :01:37. | :01:45.
tonnes of it, has all been cleared up. | :01:46. | :01:48.
What is left is messy hide lines about the violence that accompanied | :01:49. | :01:51.
it. There were six stabbings in the St Pauls in Saturday night `ll | :01:52. | :01:56.
involving men in the LA 20s. People living locally were not that | :01:57. | :02:01.
shocked. If you know it has not happdned it | :02:02. | :02:05.
has been a good Carnival. We are used to Europe about fighting | :02:06. | :02:10.
and billets and all of this, but this time it was very good, | :02:11. | :02:14.
peaceful. Although there were six stabbings around, unfortunately | :02:15. | :02:21.
Six stabbings? Compared to what was happening before, stabbing hs far | :02:22. | :02:24.
better! Yes, sure, there were a few | :02:25. | :02:28.
problems, but they are mostly caused by people coming from out of town | :02:29. | :02:33.
who messed up our fun. Knife crime is not something we are | :02:34. | :02:36.
picking up as a serious isste in Bristol on in local communities at | :02:37. | :02:39.
the moment. Obviously there are occasional incidents but thdy are | :02:40. | :02:43.
not gang or knife is use we are coming across on a day`to`d`y | :02:44. | :02:49.
business bullied micro basis. Is the Carnival's success now | :02:50. | :02:53.
becoming a problem? People from all over the country came on Saturday. | :02:54. | :02:58.
100,000 people or more cramling the narrow residential streets. That, | :02:59. | :03:01.
and the mess left behind, where the talking points on the local | :03:02. | :03:06.
community radio station tod`y. Were I think there might well be the | :03:07. | :03:09.
case is to see if the Carnival could expand beyond its area, bec`use it | :03:10. | :03:13.
was like walking through a football crowd when I was walking along the | :03:14. | :03:18.
road outside. People are positively uncomfortable, physically, with so | :03:19. | :03:22.
many people crowded in a very narrow number of streets. | :03:23. | :03:26.
What lessons can be learned for next year? Add any large event lhke this, | :03:27. | :03:31.
there will be a full debrief with ourselves, partners, event | :03:32. | :03:35.
organisers and the committed to see what can be done to improve future | :03:36. | :03:38.
years. It is a great sadness when what | :03:39. | :03:41.
should be a fantastic event is marred by events like this. | :03:42. | :03:45.
This is what the people in Bristol want the Carnival to be remdmbered | :03:46. | :03:47.
for. They are all hoping next ye`r it | :03:48. | :03:52.
will. Our home affairs corresponddnt is | :03:53. | :03:54.
with us now. A successful Carnival on thd one | :03:55. | :03:57.
hand, but the violence is disappointing for the organhsers and | :03:58. | :04:00.
police? No doubt about that, six st`bbings | :04:01. | :04:04.
in one evening is very disappointing, but 100,000 people | :04:05. | :04:09.
turned up to this. 99.9% of them had a very good time. The policd, as we | :04:10. | :04:12.
have heard, are very disappointed, but the thing that really m`tters is | :04:13. | :04:18.
this sudden outburst of knife crime. At the beginning of the year, | :04:19. | :04:22.
Parliament voted to impose `n automatic minimum six month term for | :04:23. | :04:26.
anyone caught for a second time carrying a knife, and that hs very | :04:27. | :04:29.
serious. Not to detract from that, btt | :04:30. | :04:33.
putting it in context, have crime levels in falling at the Carnival in | :04:34. | :04:37.
recent years. The Carnival has always had a | :04:38. | :04:40.
history of violence but that in itself must be put into perspective. | :04:41. | :04:45.
In 2009 there were 20 minor crimes. In 2010 it went down to 19, very | :04:46. | :04:51.
small knob is indeed. In 2001 there was the tragic shooting dead of | :04:52. | :04:55.
recall Gordon outside the courthouse pub. `` Rico. That was London gangs | :04:56. | :05:09.
that brought their violence here. Victims of these sorts of crimes, | :05:10. | :05:14.
these perhaps drug`related activities, they will not t`lk to | :05:15. | :05:17.
the police. The victims tod`y will not talk to police about evhdence, | :05:18. | :05:22.
they will keep quiet, and that makes getting a conviction even more | :05:23. | :05:26.
difficult. We will have more on the St Paul's | :05:27. | :05:31.
Carnival later in the progr`mme For now, two people have been t`ken to | :05:32. | :05:33.
hospital after a bus It happened on the A4175 just | :05:34. | :05:37.
before lunchtime today. Six people were on the bus when the | :05:38. | :05:41.
accident with the van took place. The injured passengers were taken to | :05:42. | :05:44.
the Bristol Royal Infirmary An investigation has now begun | :05:45. | :05:47.
into the cause of the crash. Seven men suspected | :05:48. | :05:50.
of being involved in football violence have been arrested | :05:51. | :05:52.
by Wiltshire police in dawn raids. The men are being questioned | :05:53. | :05:55.
at Gablecross police station as part of an investigation into violence | :05:56. | :05:59.
which followed Swindon Town's match They were arrested at five houses | :06:00. | :06:04.
in Swindon and in Wantage The man who shot | :06:05. | :06:23.
and killed newly`wed Anni Ddwani on honeymoon in South Afric` may | :06:24. | :06:26.
soon be released from prison. Xolile Mngeni is serving | :06:27. | :06:28.
a life sentence for her murder, but has a terminal brain tulour | :06:29. | :06:31.
and the authorities there s`y he may be allowed to die at home. | :06:32. | :06:34.
Anni's husband, Bristol bushnessman Shrien Dewani is due to stand trial, | :06:35. | :06:37.
accused of ordering her killing ` something he denies. | :06:38. | :06:37.
Laura Jones reports. This is the man who killed | :06:38. | :06:40.
Anni Dewani. Along with two other South @frican | :06:41. | :06:42.
men, Xolile Mngeni was sent to But he has now been diagnosdd | :06:43. | :06:45.
as having a terminal brain tumour and it is thought the authorities | :06:46. | :06:50.
there are considering releasing him from prison early to die at home ` | :06:51. | :06:53.
something that shocked people Mr Mngeni is definitely the | :06:54. | :06:57.
person who murdered Anni Dewani The South Africans are wonddring how | :06:58. | :07:05.
on earth can a man who has been sentenced to life in prison | :07:06. | :07:10.
for murder be released so soon Reacting to the news of Mngdni's | :07:11. | :07:18.
possible early release, Annh Dewani's family are reported to have | :07:19. | :07:22.
said they think it is totally wrong. Her father, Vinod Indocha, hs quoted | :07:23. | :07:27.
in a newspaper as saying, "He had absolutely no mercy, no emotion | :07:28. | :07:30.
when he killed Anni for mondy, It is now three and a half xears | :07:31. | :07:34.
since Anni Dewani was shot dead whilst on honeymoon in South Africa | :07:35. | :07:41.
with her new husband, Shrien Dewani, The authorities there claim | :07:42. | :07:44.
Shrien Dewani paid the thred men to have his new bride shot dead | :07:45. | :07:50.
in a prearranged carjacking, He was extradited to South @frica | :07:51. | :07:54.
in April and is now being treated for severe post`traumatic stress | :07:55. | :08:00.
disorder and depression at a high security psychiatric hospital | :08:01. | :08:04.
there ahead of a trial which is well, very warm welcome to points | :08:05. | :08:22.
West at the start of your wdek. Ian will be your leader with the | :08:23. | :08:25.
weather forecast. There are still plenty more to come, | :08:26. | :08:28.
including... Cramped, called but triumph`nt bash | :08:29. | :08:33.
the men who sealed night and day to beat a world record. | :08:34. | :08:39.
A campaign's begun against plans to halve the number | :08:40. | :08:41.
of beds at a Bristol respitd centre for children with disabilithes. | :08:42. | :08:45.
The Bush Residential Unit in Hengrove has ten spaces where | :08:46. | :08:50.
children can stay to give their parents a night off. | :08:51. | :08:53.
Parents say foster care and after school clubs aren't stitable | :08:54. | :09:01.
Here's our health correspondent Matthew Hill. | :09:02. | :09:07.
12`year`old Jimmy Lynch has to be supervised 24`hour is a day. He is | :09:08. | :09:14.
autistic and epileptic. For his mother committed a full`timd job | :09:15. | :09:17.
caring for him. It is not worth the risk, because his last seiztre | :09:18. | :09:21.
happened in the swimming pool and it came out of the blue, we did not | :09:22. | :09:23.
know why it happened. Because of things like that, when he | :09:24. | :09:27.
is in the bat I have to be tpstairs and be quite observant. | :09:28. | :09:33.
Once a week, Rita has a bre`k when she drops Jimmy off at the Bush | :09:34. | :09:39.
Residential Respite Unit. Btt this image `` but the City Counchl is | :09:40. | :09:42.
planning to close five of its ten beds. The idea is that the savings | :09:43. | :09:47.
made will allow more childrdn to be placed with foster families. | :09:48. | :09:51.
Will you allow him to be pl`ced foster family? | :09:52. | :09:55.
No, because the government `` so the government will save money because | :09:56. | :09:58.
parents are not prepared to do it. It is not safe. The children are too | :09:59. | :10:02.
long ago, a lot of them havd very little speech and they do not | :10:03. | :10:06.
recognise the social cues. Inappropriate things could happen | :10:07. | :10:08.
and the children perhaps wotld not be to tell the parents about it | :10:09. | :10:13.
It is vital for us to make sure all of our children are placed hn the | :10:14. | :10:17.
safest possible situation. There will be additional training for | :10:18. | :10:22.
families who decides to takd this on and any savings made by any of the | :10:23. | :10:26.
changes that potentially cole out of this will allow 50 or 60 additional | :10:27. | :10:29.
children to take advantage of our offerings. | :10:30. | :10:34.
Bristol is not the only place to be reducing its respite beds. Hn | :10:35. | :10:38.
Wiltshire, the Hill Court cdntre in Salisbury years, `` is closhng in | :10:39. | :10:45.
April. Gloucestershire does not have any respite beds, they have | :10:46. | :10:49.
alternative care models, and in Somerset they plan to incre`se | :10:50. | :10:52.
foster placements, though they say there are no plans to reducd | :10:53. | :10:56.
residential care. Mencap has heard of many incidents | :10:57. | :11:01.
where families do not feel that services can effectively medt their | :11:02. | :11:05.
needs. Research we did last year found that a third of familhes do | :11:06. | :11:08.
not trust a lot of services in their area. | :11:09. | :11:12.
The final decision over this centre will be made in September. | :11:13. | :11:20.
Now, some cool robots, and ?200 million of governmdnt cash. | :11:21. | :11:25.
Ministers signed the cheque today, claiming the investment would | :11:26. | :11:27.
Everything from flood defences to house building and training | :11:28. | :11:30.
for the nuclear industry was funded ` but it was the robots that caught | :11:31. | :11:33.
The Business Secretary chosd Bristol's robot lab to annotnce | :11:34. | :11:37.
the cash, and our business corresponddnt, | :11:38. | :11:38.
Carefully does it. Practising his egg handling skills | :11:39. | :11:54.
this morning, a big day for hurt, a research robot at UWE. | :11:55. | :11:58.
They are amazing and it is getting beyond the traditional picttre of | :11:59. | :12:03.
machines doing production lhnes These are much more intelligent | :12:04. | :12:06.
creatures. It is undoubtedlx clever stuff, and the Bristol Robotics lab | :12:07. | :12:09.
is a world leader. But research is not enough. Vince | :12:10. | :12:14.
Cable wants to see this technology at work in factories, in industry, | :12:15. | :12:18.
and that means bridging an `ncient divide. Research, Britain is as good | :12:19. | :12:24.
as any country in the world and we generate a lot of Nobel Prize | :12:25. | :12:27.
winners, to business applic`tion, where we like behind the Germans and | :12:28. | :12:29.
other countries. It is making that bridge and I think | :12:30. | :12:34.
we are succeeding. In future, these researchers will | :12:35. | :12:36.
work hand`in`hand with comp`nies, so, I asked the Vice Chancellor why | :12:37. | :12:41.
should the taxpayer pick up the cash? We are coming out of recession | :12:42. | :12:48.
and companies, particularly small and medium`sized enterprises, are | :12:49. | :12:52.
reluctant to invest. Robotics requires big money and | :12:53. | :12:55.
infrastructure. Thank you. | :12:56. | :12:58.
There is more to this than just robots. ?4.5 million will go to this | :12:59. | :13:03.
new robotic research Instittte near Bristol, with ?1 million dud to | :13:04. | :13:08.
marine tidal energy schemes and ?50 million for something they `re | :13:09. | :13:14.
calling terabit West. It sotnds like something from Doctor Who btt it is | :13:15. | :13:19.
actually a big, fat broadband connection for businesses in this | :13:20. | :13:21.
part of the world. On the Dorset coast, and yot do | :13:22. | :13:28.
drastic `` a new Jurassic vhsitor centre. | :13:29. | :13:30.
In Somerset, help for small companies trying to win work on the | :13:31. | :13:35.
Hinkley Point nuclear project, part of a ?63 million investment. | :13:36. | :13:39.
Across Wiltshire, nearly ?30 million will go on new roads and a high`tech | :13:40. | :13:44.
science centre. And in Gloucestershire and other | :13:45. | :13:47.
minister arrived at what will be a small business support centre. | :13:48. | :13:51.
Gloucester has got great pl`ns for economic growth in the area. We are | :13:52. | :13:56.
handing power to the local community to decide. We are backing it is it | :13:57. | :14:02.
is going to bring with it at least as much Private business, so we are | :14:03. | :14:10.
talking about ?145 million dxtra investment. Of course, like every | :14:11. | :14:13.
Christmas wish list they did not get everything they asked for. | :14:14. | :14:17.
This is the full list of ?500 million worth of project thdy asked | :14:18. | :14:22.
for for the West of England. Bristol and Bath science park. More space? | :14:23. | :14:27.
No. A high`tech food and drhnk research centre near | :14:28. | :14:31.
Weston`super`Mare? Didn't gdt that either. | :14:32. | :14:35.
In fact, for every ?5 they `sked for, the only got ?1. | :14:36. | :14:40.
This government have made it quite clear that once this announcement is | :14:41. | :14:45.
out of the way we will go on to the next announcement. We have 39 really | :14:46. | :14:48.
good projects, with seven that are starting to deliver, and we have | :14:49. | :14:52.
plenty more to do. We are dhscussing the next phase of funding for the | :14:53. | :14:54.
next round of projects. Did I get the job? | :14:55. | :14:59.
It looks that way. Thank you! | :15:00. | :15:06.
Next, they braved whirlpools, dodged oil tankers | :15:07. | :15:07.
and survived cramped condithons Now two sailors from Gloucestershire | :15:08. | :15:12.
are finally back home after halving the world record for sailing round | :15:13. | :15:15.
Britain in a small dinghy. Jeremy Warren and Phil Kirk survived | :15:16. | :15:17.
by cooking on a small gas stove and with very little sleep, completing | :15:18. | :15:21.
the trip in just over a month. They popped in with their dhnghy | :15:22. | :15:23.
a short while ago and Alistair Durden caught up whth them | :15:24. | :15:26.
just outside the studios here. Well, here she is without hdr sails, | :15:27. | :15:32.
just five metres long and a pretty cosy living sp`ce | :15:33. | :15:37.
for Jeremy and Phil to spend 32 days and nights together | :15:38. | :15:41.
in order to smash this record. Jeremy, this is the sort of boat we | :15:42. | :15:46.
might see go out for a day cruise. What sort of challenge was | :15:47. | :15:50.
it to have it for a month? Well, these boats are very tough | :15:51. | :15:53.
and some distances have been done before, so it doesn't take ` lot of | :15:54. | :15:56.
work to equip it for long dhstances. We were fortunate with weather, | :15:57. | :15:59.
which was great, we saw amazing sunsets and sunrises, met lots | :16:00. | :16:02.
of interesting people and dolphins and things, but mostly it w`s damp | :16:03. | :16:05.
and windy for most of the trip. You managed to smash this rdcord, | :16:06. | :16:12.
effectively, by sailing through lot of | :16:13. | :16:14.
the night time, what was th`t like? A greater challenge than sahling | :16:15. | :16:18.
in the daytime, because you lose a lot of your visual senses, | :16:19. | :16:22.
you cannot see the set the sails, can't see the waves, and yot are | :16:23. | :16:25.
depending more on using head torches Slide back a bit, lie down `nd there | :16:26. | :16:29.
is room for just about one person. It is not brilliant, | :16:30. | :16:43.
but it got us round. And we got up to | :16:44. | :16:49.
about three hours sleep each And you have a stove in herd, | :16:50. | :16:52.
haven't you? Yes, a gas powered stove, | :16:53. | :16:57.
it heats one small mess tin, two sporks, port and starbo`rd | :16:58. | :17:01.
colours, and that is enough, That gives you two cups of tea | :17:02. | :17:04.
in three minutes or a compldte I managed to put | :17:05. | :17:09.
on a five kilos during the trip so we were eating quite well, | :17:10. | :17:14.
keeping ourselves fuelled. Was there ever a point | :17:15. | :17:20.
when you thought you were ptshing All the time | :17:21. | :17:22.
our consideration was to make it The way you sail round | :17:23. | :17:26.
a racecourse is different from the You get tired and | :17:27. | :17:31.
as you get tired you make poorer We had a couple of guys on the end | :17:32. | :17:35.
of a phone who could help us out It sounds | :17:36. | :17:40.
like a fantastic adventure. The guys are well | :17:41. | :17:43.
on their way to raising the ?20 000 They're back on dry land now but I | :17:44. | :17:46.
reckoned they are itching Rather them than me! One month in | :17:47. | :18:01.
that little boat! When he said, is it comfy? Not | :18:02. | :18:05.
really! While Somerset cricket club strive | :18:06. | :18:09.
for their first ever County Championship title this | :18:10. | :18:11.
summer, another of their te`ms is The Somerset visually impaired team | :18:12. | :18:13.
have reached the National Ctp Final and, as Dave Gibbins reports, | :18:14. | :18:17.
their achievement has gone `lmost These players proudly represent | :18:18. | :18:26.
Somerset County Cricket club. Affiliated to | :18:27. | :18:30.
the full`time professional set up at the County Ground in Taunton | :18:31. | :18:33.
this team do themselves justice in another form of the sport. | :18:34. | :18:38.
There are three players who are completely blind, the rdst | :18:39. | :18:40.
With that in mind, how dangdrous can this type of cricket be? | :18:41. | :18:44.
For someone like me with no sight at all, you have to be award | :18:45. | :18:49.
of your surroundings, who's near you when you're batting, | :18:50. | :18:53.
you have to judge the bouncd of the ball, how high and far ht is. | :18:54. | :18:57.
It's not easy, but it is a lot of practice and it is worth it. | :18:58. | :19:01.
They've just reached the final of the national knockout cup bdating | :19:02. | :19:05.
last year's national league, knockout cup and Twenty20 whnners, | :19:06. | :19:08.
Warwickshire, a real feather in their cap as they try to make people | :19:09. | :19:12.
aware of their existence as a club for visually impaired players. | :19:13. | :19:16.
When you say we play cricket, they just think you're sillx. | :19:17. | :19:19.
But as you can see here we can and there are some talented plaxers | :19:20. | :19:25.
We are starting to grow, very slowly. | :19:26. | :19:32.
We have come leaps and bounds in the last two years. | :19:33. | :19:37.
We're trying to get our name out there, | :19:38. | :19:39.
trying to recruit more playdrs, get some more interest in the game. | :19:40. | :19:42.
There is an international sdtup as well, for the Blind game. | :19:43. | :19:45.
You have one England intern`tional on your books, I believe? | :19:46. | :19:48.
Yes, already, a few more attending training sessions and hopeftlly we | :19:49. | :19:50.
will get recognition for thd World Cup which I believe is | :19:51. | :19:53.
Well, I haven't a clue where that ball went | :19:54. | :20:00.
I could hear it through the ball bearings inside the ball but it | :20:01. | :20:03.
underlines how challenging this form of cricket is for these plaxers | :20:04. | :20:13.
What may be the most expenshve Wendy house in Britain has been lhfted | :20:14. | :20:18.
by a crane to be taken to its new owners. | :20:19. | :20:20.
It's been in the back garden of a house in Shrivenham ne`r | :20:21. | :20:23.
It has a thatched roof, working lights and running water, and is | :20:24. | :20:30.
fully furnished with armchahrs and even a grandfather clock. | :20:31. | :20:32.
It was sold for ?6,500 to a buyer in York. | :20:33. | :20:35.
It weighs in at two tons ` hence the crane. | :20:36. | :20:43.
I could fit in there comfortably! As a small person. | :20:44. | :20:52.
An unknown actor from Somerset has landed thd role | :20:53. | :20:54.
of a lifetime after being cast in the next Star Wars Film. | :20:55. | :20:57.
Pip Andersen, from Taunton, is expected to use | :20:58. | :21:03.
his free running skills in the role of Thomas in Episode VII. | :21:04. | :21:06.
He was picked from thousands of hopefuls who attended opdn | :21:07. | :21:08.
The producers of Star Wars have a tradition of choosing raw talent. | :21:09. | :21:12.
In 1977 the then unknown Mark Hamill secured the role of Luke Skxwalker. | :21:13. | :21:15.
There are also rumours that scenes for the new Star Wars film `re | :21:16. | :21:18.
A huge film crew has set up camp at Puzzlewood but so far thdre has | :21:19. | :21:24.
been no confirmation that Luke Skywalker is in town. | :21:25. | :21:27.
Our Gloucestershire reporter, Steve Knibbs, has sent this report | :21:28. | :21:33.
This is no small scale movid shoot. Winnie Beagles, equipment v`ns, | :21:34. | :21:45.
seemingly hundreds of staff. But if this was the cast and crew of the | :21:46. | :21:48.
new Star Wars film, no one was giving anything away. | :21:49. | :21:52.
No one can say whether to Star Wars or not? | :21:53. | :21:55.
No. Security were friendly, even checking if we were OK, and later on | :21:56. | :22:00.
more than happy to confirm what was being filmed. | :22:01. | :22:02.
What are you filming? Country file. | :22:03. | :22:08.
I don't think you are! I told you earlier on. I can try and | :22:09. | :22:13.
confirm that, I will ask Ad`m Henson. | :22:14. | :22:15.
I can confirm it was not cotntry file, and soon blue screens were | :22:16. | :22:18.
going up to stop us getting a sneaky peak of anything. | :22:19. | :22:23.
Even people checking we could not see anything between the trdes. But | :22:24. | :22:27.
we did get a few clues will stop to these wigs belong to Jedi? Hs this a | :22:28. | :22:33.
speeder bike? But, best of `ll, are these wooden swords used for light | :22:34. | :22:38.
Sabre rehearsals? I'm grabbhng at straws, but local Star Wars fans | :22:39. | :22:42.
were pretty convinced the force was in the forest. | :22:43. | :22:44.
I think it is absolutely am`zing, it is great to be here, to be honest. I | :22:45. | :22:49.
happen a fan for years and to be here trying to see a piece of | :22:50. | :22:53.
history being made is fantastic Maybe it is just like anothdr | :22:54. | :22:56.
planet, something different. Normally they do it in diffdrent | :22:57. | :23:02.
places and try and get a different atmosphere and things. | :23:03. | :23:05.
Despite calls and e`mails, no one from Disney got back to me, but | :23:06. | :23:10.
Puzzlewood doesn't seem to fit the bill for a mysterious planet in a | :23:11. | :23:13.
galaxy far far away. It has already been used for Merrill and, Doctor | :23:14. | :23:21.
Who and Atlantis, so it may be where an Imperial storm trooper f`ncies a | :23:22. | :23:24.
blaster battle. If this is really the new Star Wars film, what will it | :23:25. | :23:27.
be? Will it be your De's home planet or | :23:28. | :23:34.
the forest moon of indoor? Real fans will be hoping thdre will | :23:35. | :23:44.
be no sign of Jar Jar Binks. I am pretty sure he did not have to | :23:45. | :23:49.
do any research for that, hd was in his element! He is a huge f`n. | :23:50. | :23:53.
I am a huge fan of Ian Henddrson and the weather. | :23:54. | :23:56.
And I am someone who is not even seen the first Star Wars films I had | :23:57. | :23:59.
no clue what he was talking about. As bad as the weather is concerned, | :24:00. | :24:02.
tomorrow we're back to sunshine and showers, a bit of whether lottery. | :24:03. | :24:08.
There will be drier, brightdr spells continuing into the afternoon, that | :24:09. | :24:11.
is when we'd have the key threat of showers around. In the rainfall | :24:12. | :24:17.
some of you had some pretty heavy downpours this afternoon, | :24:18. | :24:20.
particularly across Gloucestershire. The trend has been for a lot of this | :24:21. | :24:27.
to turn to drizzle. Some he`vy bursts, particularly towards Lyme | :24:28. | :24:32.
Bay, which might continue overnight, but generally speaking the showers | :24:33. | :24:36.
and associated brain is starting to fizzle out. A dry night for the | :24:37. | :24:39.
majority as we had to tomorrow, showers start to get going tomorrow. | :24:40. | :24:46.
`` associated rain. We have an occlusion across as firing tp the | :24:47. | :24:51.
showers. Towards Germany, that low pressure area developing with a warm | :24:52. | :24:54.
front coming in towards the eastern parts of the British Isles will be | :24:55. | :24:57.
critical to the developments we have midweek onwards. It will dictate | :24:58. | :25:02.
what will happen towards thd weekend, so we will keep an eye on | :25:03. | :25:08.
that. This is the general drift of things correctly, the graphhcs | :25:09. | :25:12.
overplaying the intensity of the showers slightly. Some showdrs | :25:13. | :25:18.
towards southern parts of Somerset and up into the Bristol Channel | :25:19. | :25:22.
Many areas will start dry tomorrow, temperatures will drop to lows of | :25:23. | :25:28.
eight or nine Celsius in thd countryside, other areas up to 2 | :25:29. | :25:32.
Celsius. Tomorrow, the first half of the day will generally have drier, | :25:33. | :25:35.
brighter weather. Towards ltnchtime into the afternoon the showdrs tend | :25:36. | :25:42.
to grow our by hour. Some hdavy ones around for awhile, and they will | :25:43. | :25:45.
continue to be a feature thd evening. Fire spells between that, | :25:46. | :25:49.
the winds will be a feature, so for some of you it will be a re`sonable | :25:50. | :25:54.
day. Temperatures tomorrow tp to around 18 Celsius, but a lot of | :25:55. | :25:59.
uncertainty from Wednesday onwards. We have confidence Wednesdax will be | :26:00. | :26:05.
dry for us and thereafter t`ke it with a pinch of salt. There could be | :26:06. | :26:09.
rain for the East in that p`rt of the week, then a chance for rain in | :26:10. | :26:13.
the West. We will update yot tomorrow. | :26:14. | :26:16.
I know what to get him for Christmas. Before we go, we wanted | :26:17. | :26:20.
to return to the St Paul 's carnival, but the positive side of | :26:21. | :26:22.
it. Although the celebrations wdre | :26:23. | :26:27.
marred as we had at the start of the programme, we also heard 100,00 | :26:28. | :26:32.
people partied in style. So as we leave you, we thought we wotld bring | :26:33. | :26:35.
you some of the sights and sounds of one of the biggest African Caribbean | :26:36. | :26:37.
Carnival is around. It has been a wonderful spirit, it | :26:38. | :27:30.
is being together and celebrating heritage, that is very much alive | :27:31. | :27:37.
and kicking in Bristol. It really is alive and kicking in Bristol. | :27:38. | :27:39. |
