A service is about to take place in South Gloucestershire this dvening

Today was a chance to reflect on an extraordinary relationship

It is a little village which, for almost a century, has been defined

by almost one big thing. Whenever Frenchay is mentioned, many

think, hospital. These higgledy`piggledy wards werd only

built as a temporary measurd to treat earns victims in the Second

World War when the site exp`nded massively. They are still there At

Frenchay Hospital is changing. In the next six months bank feds

temporary barriers, buildings will be emptied, patients transfdrred and

we will be left with a building site. There is outline planning

permission for 500 new homes here and a health centre which whll not

only change the way Frenchax looks but how it feels to local pdople.

I cannot believe what I am seeing. I cannot believe the place I have

known and loved and been so involved in, that has been so busy, H have

met some many people there, I find myself wondering around now and to

me it has a site with a thotsand faces of the people I have let and

friendships that will last for all time.

After many campaigns and protests to try and save it, part of th`t

grieving process will be a church service today to mark the work of

Frenchay Hospital and that special relationship it has with thd

villagers that live around ht. As for its future, it is a casd of a

village which needs to put htself on the map all over again.

Good evening. We have had a decent day intensive sunshine but ht has

been noticeably fresh in thd past few days and we will see a fresher

night ahead of us. There will be a lot of cloud, some showers feeding

in from the north`west. We could get one or two heavy ones, parthcularly

up towards parts of Wiltshire and Gloucestershire. On the whole, not

as humid as last night, lows around 15 or 16 Celsius. We keep the risk

showers through the day tomorrow, shower feeding in on the

north`westerly breeze. Decent spells of sunshine in between the showers.

We could get the odd heavy breasts. Temperatures are where they should
