Welcome to Wales Today. Tonight's headlines... Nearly 20 years after | :00:07. | :00:10.

party's two new AMs is finally allowed to take up his seat after | :00:52. | :00:55.
breaking electoral rules. A social worker claims he is being made a | :00:55. | :00:58.
scapegoat after a fostered teenager seriously sexually abused two young | :00:58. | :01:02.
children. Made in Wales. We are looking at a manufacturing success | :01:02. | :01:08.
story. One of the world's biggest silicon plants on our doorstep. | :01:08. | :01:14.
end product is find in a diverse range of make-up to photocopying | :01:14. | :01:24.
:01:24. | :01:27. | ||
And back with the Bluebirds. Robert Earnshaw says he is going home. It | :01:27. | :01:29.
is the biggest trial of police officers in British legal history. | :01:30. | :01:32.
Today, a jury heard how eight corrupt policemen colluded to send | :01:32. | :01:35.
five innocent men to jail for the brutal murder of a Cardiff | :01:35. | :01:38.
prostitute. Lynette White was killed in 1988 in a flat in the | :01:38. | :01:41.
docks area of Cardiff. The officers all deny conspiracy to pervert the | :01:42. | :01:51.
course of justice and two other people deny perjury. It is thought | :01:51. | :01:55.
to be the biggest trial of police officers in legal history. It is | :01:56. | :01:59.
more than 20 years since Lynette White was murdered in the flat she | :01:59. | :02:03.
work from as a prostitute. She was stabbed more than 50 times. A court | :02:03. | :02:09.
was told how former police officers may be debated, influenced and | :02:09. | :02:13.
fabricated evidence. In the opening statement of the prosecution, they | :02:13. | :02:17.
said it resulted in five innocent people being prosecuted. Three were | :02:17. | :02:27.
convicted for murder. It was story emerged as part of the case. | :02:27. | :02:31.
The prosecutors said it was exactly that, a story. It was a fiction. | :02:32. | :02:37.
That explains how Lynette White and these five men came together. But | :02:37. | :02:41.
why would they want to carry out an attack against a woman somebody | :02:41. | :02:47.
barely knew? It was entirely a fabrication and was largely in the | :02:47. | :02:49.
product of the imagination, theories and the least of the | :02:49. | :02:55.
officers on the case, said the prosecution. It resulted in these | :02:55. | :03:01.
men being convicted of the murder of Lynette White in 1990. In 1992, | :03:01. | :03:04.
the convictions of the Cardiff Three as they were called, were | :03:05. | :03:10.
quashed by the Court of Appeal and they were released. 11 years later, | :03:10. | :03:14.
the real killer was brought to justice. He was a former client of | :03:14. | :03:19.
Lynette White and was caught by DNA technology. He was sentenced to | :03:19. | :03:24.
life imprisonment. An inquiry was launched to establish what went | :03:24. | :03:29.
wrong in the original investigation. It resulted in a trial of eight | :03:29. | :03:32.
former police officers and two witnesses from the original trial | :03:32. | :03:37.
accused of perverting the course of justice. The court was given | :03:37. | :03:43.
evidence from one of the witnesses who also faces a charge of perjury. | :03:43. | :03:49.
The prosecution says the statement contains lies. The prosecutor asked | :03:49. | :03:56.
why did she like in a statement, we cannot say. It is possible she had | :03:56. | :04:00.
been primed by police officers working on a case that had already | :04:00. | :04:05.
stalled. For men and a police officer also jointly accused of | :04:05. | :04:08.
perverting the course of justice and will stand trial separately | :04:08. | :04:13.
next year. The commission says they think it is the biggest police a | :04:13. | :04:18.
trial in British legal history. The jury has been told it could last | :04:18. | :04:26.
six months or longer. A disqualified member of the assembly | :04:26. | :04:30.
has been reinstated. He stood down after the election because he | :04:30. | :04:35.
belonged to a public body from which AMs are barred. But it was | :04:35. | :04:39.
revealed he was misled by guidance for election candidates published | :04:39. | :04:48.
This was about a crucial point of constitutional legislation. It was | :04:48. | :04:54.
also about one man had one empty seat. Should Aled Roberts, a former | :04:54. | :05:00.
council leader at Wrexham be reinstated? Investigation found he | :05:00. | :05:04.
had done everything he reasonably could to get everything right. The | :05:04. | :05:10.
legislation as he saw it was wrong. That for some, was enough. | :05:10. | :05:14.
question is whether it is reasonable and credible that he | :05:14. | :05:19.
access to the Welsh Language Web site without cross referencing to | :05:19. | :05:24.
the English side? This is what he claims he did and as a natural | :05:24. | :05:29.
Welsh speaker, that seems perfectly credible. This was not about the | :05:29. | :05:34.
Welsh language, others argued. It was about ignorance. It sets an | :05:34. | :05:38.
important precedent. Many were sympathetic but not convinced he | :05:38. | :05:46.
should return. I am very sorry for the candidate. I think he has been | :05:46. | :05:51.
reasonable but ignorance of the law is not an excuse. The individual | :05:51. | :05:55.
question for members to judge is whether this will be used an | :05:55. | :05:59.
extraordinary occasion where the law and the consequences should be | :05:59. | :06:05.
set aside. I cannot agree that this is such an extraordinary | :06:05. | :06:13.
circumstance. Then, the vote. abstentions. 20 against. The motion | :06:13. | :06:19.
is carried. With strong support from the Labour Cabinet, Aled | :06:19. | :06:27.
Roberts was back. Among the people taking part was this woman, saving | :06:27. | :06:29.
the second of the two from the Liberal Democrats, abandoned | :06:29. | :06:34.
yesterday. It meant a return for the woman that would have replaced | :06:34. | :06:40.
Aled Roberts. I am taking a deep breath and trying to get my life | :06:40. | :06:44.
back because it has been on hold and very difficult. The party | :06:44. | :06:48.
admitted they could have done more to check the legislation. They | :06:48. | :06:51.
criticised the party that should help candidates get things right | :06:51. | :06:57.
and not give them unhelpful information. I have apologised for | :06:57. | :07:01.
that and it is not where we are meant to be. It is very important | :07:01. | :07:07.
for the election in Wales. We have changed procedures under Bentley. | :07:07. | :07:11.
after eight weeks, one of the two from the Liberal Democrats had | :07:11. | :07:17.
supplied. But after the party described the situation as a | :07:17. | :07:21.
shambles, every single political party and the Electoral Commission | :07:21. | :07:25.
will redouble their efforts to make certain this never happens again. | :07:25. | :07:35.
:07:35. | :07:37. | ||
With me now is the reinstated assembly member, Aled Roberts. | :07:37. | :07:43.
relieved because it has been a very difficult time for me and my family. | :07:43. | :07:50.
John is not in the same position as I am receding. It was very close. | :07:50. | :08:00.
:08:00. | :08:02. | ||
30 in favour and 20 against. Not a ringing endorsement. 30 obviously | :08:02. | :08:07.
looked at the report provided. I thought it was very comprehensive. | :08:07. | :08:11.
I think the one thing that has happened is that the matter has | :08:11. | :08:16.
been fully investigated in the last two months. I am thankful to the | :08:16. | :08:26.
:08:26. | :08:26. | ||
assembly members that supported me today. As you have pointed out, we | :08:27. | :08:33.
have had to do some convincing for the other 20 people. How is it the | :08:33. | :08:39.
guide in English is different compared to the Welsh language? | :08:39. | :08:43.
guidance in English and Welsh was actually incorrect in the printed | :08:43. | :08:48.
version. The difference between the languages was the e-mail forwarded | :08:48. | :08:54.
back in March. Until the police interview, I believed both e-mails | :08:54. | :09:00.
were incorrect. I think there are lessons to be learnt by a number of | :09:00. | :09:06.
organisations, including my party as a result. The circumstances put | :09:06. | :09:12.
me in a bad situation. One of your party members described it as a | :09:12. | :09:18.
cock up. What lessons do you think your party needs to learn? In the | :09:18. | :09:22.
first instance, the assembly must learn that this is a law-making | :09:22. | :09:29.
body. I think the procedures within Westminster appear to be more | :09:29. | :09:34.
detailed and in the assembly. Certainly there appears to be an | :09:34. | :09:37.
issue with regard to communication between the assembly and the | :09:37. | :09:40.
Electoral Commission. There are issues between the administration | :09:41. | :09:47.
of candidates, and nominations from my party. It is clear that there | :09:47. | :09:52.
are issues for our houses and I am sure as has been stated, all | :09:52. | :10:01.
parties will be anxious to make Our Welsh affairs editor is in the | :10:01. | :10:08.
Senedd. Not the finest hour for the Liberal Democrats? It is not their | :10:08. | :10:13.
finest hour. There were cheers on the first floor of the Liberal | :10:13. | :10:19.
Democrat offices. But they just got one of the two candidates back. The | :10:19. | :10:24.
parties had to put a lot of effort and struggle in the past couple of | :10:24. | :10:29.
months to achieving even that. With me is the leader of the Welsh | :10:29. | :10:33.
Liberal Democrats, Kirsty Williams. You must be relieved but you must | :10:33. | :10:39.
accept some responsibility. We have come back from the very beginning. | :10:39. | :10:43.
We have apologised to the assembly as a whole for our involvement in | :10:43. | :10:49.
that and they will be an internal inquiry. We will find a final | :10:49. | :10:52.
resolution and the will or lessons to make certain this never happens | :10:52. | :10:58.
again. It makes the party look amateur, doesn't it? Does that not | :10:58. | :11:04.
reflect on your leadership? We will reflect on how we have handled | :11:04. | :11:11.
advised to candidates after this debacle. We have asked people to | :11:11. | :11:14.
come to the conference and had training sessions. We will need to | :11:14. | :11:19.
do more and I acknowledge that. We will not find ourselves in that | :11:19. | :11:26.
position again. What deals did you do and what favours do you now own? | :11:26. | :11:32.
What did you promise Carwyn Jones? Nothing at all. The assembly | :11:32. | :11:37.
members were asked to vote on a set of legal principles on the basis of | :11:37. | :11:41.
an independent report and I am very grateful that they took the | :11:41. | :11:44.
findings and the legal advice into consideration and did what I think | :11:44. | :11:49.
is the right thing in allowing Aled Roberts to come back to do what he | :11:49. | :11:54.
was elected to do and represents the people of North Wales. Do the | :11:54. | :11:58.
electoral commission have a price to pay? A number of organisations | :11:58. | :12:02.
will have to reflect on their part in this case, not least my party as | :12:02. | :12:06.
I said at the beginning. That is not for today but we will do that | :12:06. | :12:11.
in the weeks and months to come. The post-mortem begins not just for | :12:12. | :12:15.
the Liberal Democrats but the organisations involved in this | :12:15. | :12:23.
extraordinary soap opera that has A social worker said to have missed | :12:24. | :12:26.
opportunities to prevent a teenager seriously sexually abusing two | :12:26. | :12:30.
young children has said he has been made a scapegoat. The 19 year old | :12:30. | :12:34.
was placed by social services with a foster family who were not told | :12:34. | :12:37.
about his previous inappropriate sexual behaviour. Social worker | :12:37. | :12:40.
Julian Swan denies allegations of misconduct at the hearing of the | :12:40. | :12:49.
Care Council for Wales. Here is our correspondent. What is the | :12:49. | :12:56.
background to this case? Is it goes back to 2008 when he teenager about | :12:56. | :13:01.
to depart the care system was being placed with a foster family. They | :13:01. | :13:05.
did not realise he posed a serious risk to young children are. They | :13:05. | :13:09.
were not told and he went on to sexually abuse their two young | :13:09. | :13:16.
children. He was later jailed and the council has unreservedly | :13:16. | :13:20.
apologised to the family. The hearing today was to establish | :13:20. | :13:25.
whether the social worker was guilty of misconduct, a accusation | :13:25. | :13:32.
that he denies. What has been said in the hearing? The main issue | :13:32. | :13:36.
examines today was whether it was his job to look at the past history | :13:36. | :13:40.
on the files or if he could take the word of his colleagues who were | :13:40. | :13:45.
passing the case on to him as fact. He did the latter and as a result a | :13:46. | :13:51.
critical report was not noticed in the files. He said, he gave his | :13:51. | :13:56.
evidence today and he said he felt he was being made a scapegoat. He | :13:56. | :13:59.
said he would have acted differently with hindsight but he | :13:59. | :14:04.
had acted in good faith. He said there is a shared responsibility. I | :14:04. | :14:10.
have been instigated by the Vale of Glamorgan council. It was a | :14:10. | :14:14.
colleague but found the relevant information. He said he had been | :14:14. | :14:18.
alerted to previous problems by the father of the teenager who said | :14:18. | :14:23.
something like this had happened before. He said he pulled the files | :14:23. | :14:27.
onto the floor and found the information in about half an hour, | :14:27. | :14:37.

The Rhondda MP Chris Bryant has called for the resignation of | :15:16. | :15:18.
Rebekah Brooks, the Chief Executive of News of the Worlds' parent | :15:18. | :15:22.
company, News International. Mr Bryant told the commons, debating | :15:22. | :15:26.
the phone-hacking scandal, that the newspaper's actions were immoral. | :15:26. | :15:29.
It follows allegations that phones, including that of murdered | :15:29. | :15:33.
schoolgirl Milly Dowler, were hacked. Mr Bryant also believes his | :15:33. | :15:40.
mobile phone was hacked by the paper. | :15:40. | :15:45.
These are not just the a moral actions of some alone private | :15:45. | :15:51.
investigator, tied to a rogue 7/7 reporter. They are the immoral and | :15:51. | :15:56.
criminal deeds of an organisation which was appallingly lead and | :15:56. | :16:00.
completely lost sight of any decency or shared humanity. | :16:00. | :16:03.
The First Minister, Carwyn Jones, has been in London today to meet | :16:03. | :16:07.
the Chancellor, George Osborne. Mr Jones has been calling for changes | :16:07. | :16:09.
to the way the Welsh Government is funded from Westminster. Our | :16:10. | :16:11.
parliamentary correspondent, David Cornock, is in Westminster. David, | :16:12. | :16:17.
what happened? Relations between Wales and | :16:17. | :16:22.
Westminster have been thought of late. You could be forgiven for | :16:22. | :16:24.
expecting that today's first meeting between the First Minister | :16:24. | :16:30.
and the Chancellor would be equally tense, but it turned out to be | :16:30. | :16:34.
offended, positive vacation. Carwyn Jones got a free cup of copy -- cup | :16:35. | :16:40.
of coffee. He also got his chance to put the case that Wales is | :16:40. | :16:45.
underfunded compared to the rest of the UK, from the UK government, and | :16:45. | :16:49.
to put the case for Wales to have further borrowing powers so the | :16:49. | :16:53.
Welsh government can take more on schools and hospitals. He emerged | :16:53. | :16:57.
from the Treasury after about an hour to explain why he had been | :16:57. | :17:02.
surprised by the Chancellor. The fact that he was not closing of | :17:02. | :17:09.
any avenues, the fact that he understood to be under situation in | :17:09. | :17:14.
Wales. I look forward now to working with the Chancellor and | :17:14. | :17:17.
other ministers of the UK government to will move forward | :17:17. | :17:22.
with a funding package for Wales. Carwyn Jones sounding pleasantly | :17:22. | :17:25.
surprised by the Chancellor. What did the Treasury say? | :17:26. | :17:30.
George Osborne was in listening mode today and that has been | :17:30. | :17:33.
strengthened by what Carwyn Jones had to say. We will see some rapid | :17:33. | :17:38.
progress over the next few weeks, possibly within the next week we | :17:38. | :17:42.
will get the name of the man who -- of the person who will chair the | :17:42. | :17:47.
commission on how Wales is funded by the UK. We are expecting that | :17:48. | :17:52.
announcement to be made possibly as soon as next Tuesday, when senior | :17:52. | :17:56.
ministers are visiting Wales. They will have a year to come up with | :17:56. | :18:01.
their findings. That will be the crunch, will the UK government act | :18:01. | :18:03.
on it? Still to come in Wales Today. Star | :18:03. | :18:05.
somersaulting striker Robert Earnshaw is back with the Bluebirds | :18:05. | :18:14.
- but what do the fans make of it? Fantastic signing for the club. | :18:14. | :18:21.
Nice to see him coming back. And I am in Llangollen, where rain | :18:22. | :18:25.
held off for much of the day but we are in for a good soaking this | :18:25. | :18:34.
evening. Join me later for a full weather forecast. | :18:34. | :18:37.
The financial crisis led to -- The financial crisis led many to | :18:37. | :18:40.
call for the economic recovery to be driven by a growth in | :18:40. | :18:42.
manufacturing. Today the UK Business Secretary Vince Cable | :18:42. | :18:45.
launched a campaign to celebrate manufacturing excellence. This week, | :18:45. | :18:48.
we're doing the same with our own Made In Wales series. We start | :18:48. | :18:51.
tonight with the Dow Corning chemical plant in Barry. Here's our | :18:51. | :19:01.
:19:01. | :19:01. | ||
business correspondent Nick Servini. Pipes, towers and warehouses on the | :19:01. | :19:05.
160 acre site of the Dow Corning chemical plant dominates the | :19:05. | :19:10.
streets around Barry. From here, a workforce of nearly 600 suppliers | :19:10. | :19:16.
Europe, the Middle East and North Africa. Most people probably have | :19:16. | :19:23.
no idea what they supply a, so much of the world with. | :19:23. | :19:29.
What we make here is silicone us. It is a family of materials ranging | :19:29. | :19:35.
from watery, Fine fluids, all the way up to rubbers and sealant. | :19:35. | :19:40.
There you have the answer from the site manager. He also shows me the | :19:40. | :19:45.
closest thing they have to a finished silicone product. | :19:45. | :19:50.
Before it gets to this stage, the raw material, a treated form of | :19:50. | :19:54.
sand, is brought into the country from all over the world. It also | :19:54. | :19:57.
goes through the chemical process in the towers and pipes that are | :19:57. | :20:03.
here. The end product is found in a diverse range of goods from make-up | :20:03. | :20:07.

parts. The unique thing about silicone is | :20:11. | :20:15.
that it tends to be highly resistant to weather conditions, | :20:15. | :20:20.
holding up under high temperatures. When they are put into products | :20:20. | :20:24.
like shampoos and and lotions, they tend to give products a silky | :20:24. | :20:28.
feeling. The miles of pipes on the site are | :20:28. | :20:32.
monitored from this control room. Maintenance is a big part of the | :20:32. | :20:38.
operation. They spend more than 2 million per year on paint alone. | :20:38. | :20:42.
Jobs here are said to be highly sought-after. The basic wage | :20:42. | :20:46.
including a shift allowance is 35,000 a year, that doesn't | :20:46. | :20:51.
include overtime and bonuses. For training of new recruits takes | :20:51. | :20:55.
three years. No surprise, then, that an advertisement for half a | :20:55. | :21:02.
dozen vacancies can generate around 400 replies. Gerry Adams is one of | :21:02. | :21:08.
the local workers. He is 62 but first came here on work experience | :21:08. | :21:11.
45 years ago. They will carry me out in a wooden | :21:11. | :21:17.
box from here. I want to work until I am 70. I am really, really happy. | :21:17. | :21:21.
There are lots of guys who like their job. I was doing an interview | :21:21. | :21:26.
with a man this afternoon, I don't want to retire when I am 65, I want | :21:26. | :21:30.
to go on. Why hasn't much of the work at | :21:30. | :21:34.
Barry gone to the Far East or Eastern Europe, like so much else | :21:34. | :21:38.
in manufacture in? That is because Labour is only part of the cost. | :21:38. | :21:43.
The big-ticket items here are energy and raw materials. They are | :21:43. | :21:46.
around the same wherever you are. And on tomorrow night's programme, | :21:46. | :21:49.
we'll be at one of the last of the underwear makers in the Gwent | :21:49. | :21:52.
Valleys. It was once an industry that employed thousands of people | :21:52. | :21:55.
in the area, making underwear for some of Britain's biggest companies. | :21:55. | :21:58.
Today, AJM Sewing in New Tredegar employs 40 people and makes some of | :21:58. | :22:01.
the most expensive underwear found on the British high street. That's | :22:01. | :22:06.
at 6:30pm tomorrow night. The governing body of the | :22:06. | :22:09.
University of Wales has been accused of significant failure over | :22:09. | :22:12.
its handling of controversial overseas partnerships. The claim | :22:12. | :22:15.
comes in a leaked letter from the Higher Education Funding Council | :22:15. | :22:19.
for Wales. Last year the BBC revealed that a Malaysian college | :22:19. | :22:22.
with links to the university was run by a pop star with two bogus | :22:23. | :22:27.
degrees, while another in Bangkok was operating illegally. The | :22:27. | :22:32.
University has refused to comment. The Welsh Ambulance service has | :22:32. | :22:35.
recorded its best ever performance results for response to emergency | :22:35. | :22:39.
calls. They reached just over 71% of life-threatening calls within | :22:39. | :22:46.
eight minutes. Football, and Robert Earnshaw has | :22:46. | :22:50.
described re-joining Cardiff City as "going home". The Wales striker | :22:50. | :22:53.
has decided not to renew his contract at Nottingham Forest, | :22:53. | :22:55.
instead he's heading for the Bluebirds where he enjoyed great | :22:55. | :23:03.
success before leaving seven years ago. | :23:03. | :23:07.
Robert Earnshaw could have stayed with Nottingham Forest. He has been | :23:07. | :23:11.
there for the past three years. After turning down a new contract, | :23:11. | :23:15.
he has rejoined the club where he started his career, much to the | :23:15. | :23:19.
delight of fans. Superb signing. Nice to see him | :23:19. | :23:23.
coming back. There is no transfer fee so we are | :23:23. | :23:26.
more than happy. He has more -- he has never fallen | :23:27. | :23:32.
out of love with the club. I have seen him on Wales trips and he has | :23:32. | :23:36.
always been chatting with the Cardiff fans. He will be a fans' | :23:36. | :23:40.
favourite. He is the 4th signing for mucky | :23:40. | :23:44.
Mackay this summer. Robert Earnshaw will provide them much needed | :23:44. | :23:49.
attacking threat following the loss of the likes of Chris Burke, | :23:49. | :23:54.
Michael Chopra, Jay Bothroyd and Craig Bellamy. | :23:54. | :23:57.
He will always score goals and when you are looking at a successful | :23:57. | :24:02.
side, as we are trying to look at, he need somebody who will put the | :24:02. | :24:08.
ball in the net. We have lost a lot of goals in Michael to opera. He | :24:09. | :24:11.
could be the man to step in and fill the gap. | :24:11. | :24:17.
Robert Earnshaw was a firm favourite at Cardiff, scoring well | :24:17. | :24:23.
over 100 goals in 200 games. It also led to his breakthrough in the | :24:23. | :24:27.
Wales set-up. He will be hoping to similar success of the Bluebirds | :24:27. | :24:31.
look to follow Swansea City into the Premier League. The Swans have | :24:31. | :24:37.
opened talks with Fulham goalkeeper David Stockdale. He has had limited | :24:37. | :24:41.
chances at the London club but was called into an England squad last | :24:41. | :24:43.
season. Cycling and Geraint Thomas finished | :24:43. | :24:48.
fifth in today's fifth stage of the Tour de France. Thomas was in | :24:48. | :24:51.
contention to win, but ultimately lost out to Mark Cavendish. He will | :24:51. | :24:54.
however still wear the white jersey as the best young rider and lies | :24:54. | :25:02.
seventh overall, 12 seconds off the leader. | :25:02. | :25:05.
Performers from around the world have been taking to the stage on | :25:05. | :25:10.
the third day of the International Eisteddfod at Llangollen. | :25:10. | :25:13.
The show has managed to hold off for much of the day and everybody | :25:13. | :25:18.
seems to be having a blast. We are in for a good soaking this evening. | :25:18. | :25:22.
Tomorrow is another day of sunny spells and a few showers. First | :25:22. | :25:25.
thing tomorrow morning, you will probably wake-up and it is rather | :25:25. | :25:28.
probably wake-up and it is rather cloudy. You will see some showers | :25:28. | :25:34.
first thing in the morning which could be heavy at times. Also, some | :25:34. | :25:37.
brighter intervals between those showers. First bring this evening | :25:37. | :25:42.
we have a band of rain making its way north and eastwards. Heavy at | :25:42. | :25:51.
times. With that comes strong winds, at 40-50 mph gusts. The rain will | :25:51. | :25:54.
clear through the evening and we will see some showers in the | :25:54. | :25:59.
overnight period. Tomorrow morning will start of cloudy and we will | :25:59. | :26:03.
see a few showers. Perhaps some bright or sunny spells, thanks to | :26:03. | :26:08.
an area of low pressure across the UK. An unsettled day tomorrow. | :26:08. | :26:11.
Breezy with sunny intervals and showers. Becoming drier by the | :26:12. | :26:16.
evening. Overnight we will see more rain arriving in the early hours of | :26:16. | :26:20.
Friday morning. Another unsettled day on Friday but the weekend is | :26:20. | :26:25.
looking promising. We can look forward to lighter showers and more | :26:25. | :26:30.
in the way of sunshine. If you would like to see more on | :26:30. | :26:34.
Llangollen, or there is a highlights programme on tomorrow | :26:35. | :26:39.
evening on BBC Two at 7:30pm. To two men, it will be a great | :26:39. | :26:46.
programme to watch. Back to the studio. | :26:46. | :26:54.
Tonight's headlines: the Prime Minister has promised a public | :26:54. | :26:58.
inquiry into the phone hacking scandal engulfing the News of the | :26:58. | :27:03.
World. Rupert Murdoch, the chair and CEO | :27:03. | :27:05.
of the News Corporation called the allegations deplorable and | :27:05. | :27:10.
unacceptable. In Wales, a jury has heard how | :27:10. | :27:14.
eight policemen colluded to send five innocent men to jail for the | :27:14. | :27:19.
murder of a prostitute. Lynette White was killed in 1988 in the | :27:19. | :27:25.
docks area of Cardiff. Officers denied conspiracy to be forged -- | :27:25. | :27:30.
to pervert the course of justice. And that's Wales Today. Don't | :27:30. | :27:33. |
