Welcome to Wales Today. Tonight's headlines: A patient dies after | :00:05. | :00:07.
contracting hepatitis B at Morriston Hospital. As non-urgent | :00:07. | :00:10.
operations are suspended, 150 people are told they too could have | :00:10. | :00:20.
:00:20. | :00:21. | ||
the virus. They will be concerned when they receive the letter. There | :00:21. | :00:28.
is a low risk that they have received any formal infection. -- | :00:28. | :00:38.
:00:38. | :00:38. | ||
Also tonight: 15 years after she died, John Pope is convicted for | :00:38. | :00:48.
:00:48. | :00:49. | ||
the second time of murdering Karen Skipper. Justice has now been done | :00:49. | :00:52.
and Karen Skipper can now rest in peace. | :00:52. | :00:55.
The biggest land deal in Wales in a generation calls for an inquiry | :00:55. | :00:58.
into who takes over the vast Vyrnwy estate. | :00:58. | :01:01.
Good evening from the final day of the Royal Welsh. Over 200,000 | :01:01. | :01:04.
people have come through the gates, but have they been spending their | :01:04. | :01:08.
cash? Pubs around the showground are | :01:08. | :01:11.
toasting a good week, but not all the traders are so happy. | :01:11. | :01:21.
And just how long does it take to prepare a prize winning bull? | :01:21. | :01:25.
watching them, you have to blow-dry them just like a woman going into a | :01:25. | :01:33.
hairdresser. Good evening. The family of a woman | :01:33. | :01:35.
who died after contracting hepatitis B in hospital from | :01:35. | :01:39.
another patient have launched an official complaint. More than 150 | :01:39. | :01:41.
people who underwent surgery at Morriston Hospital in Swansea have | :01:41. | :01:45.
been told they may also have been exposed to the hepatitis B virus. | :01:45. | :01:47.
Non-urgent surgery at the hospital's Cardiac Unit has been | :01:47. | :01:54.
suspended. Rhodri Lewis has the story. | :01:54. | :01:57.
None of the individuals involved have been identified, but it's | :01:57. | :02:00.
known the first person, a woman, came into the Cardiac Unit at | :02:00. | :02:04.
Morriston Hospital for treatment in March. During that time, she came | :02:04. | :02:08.
into contact with another patient who already had hepatitis B. The | :02:08. | :02:11.
woman was discharged in the usual way, but she then developed the | :02:11. | :02:16.
acute form of the disease and died last month. The health board says | :02:16. | :02:21.
it's likely she contracted the disease in hospital. Her family say | :02:21. | :02:23.
they've been left extremely distressed by the death of their | :02:23. | :02:26.
mother and the knowledge that her illness had been contracted from a | :02:26. | :02:29.
patient known to be infected with hepatitis B. They've launched an | :02:29. | :02:37.
official complaint. I have spoken to the family today and they have | :02:37. | :02:41.
expressed distress about what has happened. They were to be left | :02:41. | :02:46.
alone and I respect that. It is a concern at this point in time that | :02:46. | :02:51.
they have not yet told us what the cause was. They are still trying to | :02:51. | :02:55.
find out. 150 other people who were treated at the unit between the | :02:55. | :02:59.
11th of March and the 17th of April may also have been exposed to the | :02:59. | :03:02.
disease. They live in a wide area, stretching from Aberystwyth to | :03:02. | :03:05.
Bridgend. The health board wants these people to come forward and | :03:05. | :03:13.
have a blood test. In theory, it can happen at any point where | :03:13. | :03:20.
bodily fluids get mixed. It can happen at any point in a patient's | :03:20. | :03:28.
journey from admission to discharge of the hospital. It happens when | :03:28. | :03:32.
there is contamination from them into another patient. Hepatitis B | :03:32. | :03:35.
is a viral infection of the liver. It spreads through blood and other | :03:35. | :03:38.
bodily fluids following intimate contact. It can cause serious liver | :03:38. | :03:45.
damage and in extreme cases, can be fatal. There are things in place | :03:45. | :03:50.
and they can get individual advice and a blood test and which can be | :03:50. | :03:55.
done from any time from this afternoon onwards. There is a small | :03:55. | :03:58.
risk that somebody else has acquired the virus but the only way | :03:58. | :04:01.
they will know is to be tested. Morriston Hospital has now | :04:02. | :04:04.
suspended all non-urgent cardiac surgery, and has tested all its | :04:04. | :04:07.
staff for the disease. It's also going to commission an external | :04:07. | :04:17.
:04:17. | :04:17. | ||
review of its procedures. The health board's investigation is | :04:17. | :04:20.
continuing but it admits it may never find out exactly what | :04:20. | :04:24.
happened here. It's taken 15 years and two trials, | :04:24. | :04:26.
but tonight the family of Karen Skipper said justice had finally | :04:26. | :04:32.
been done. Mrs Skipper was attacked and drowned in Cardiff in 1996. A | :04:32. | :04:35.
local labourer, John Pope, had been convicted of the murder, but that | :04:35. | :04:38.
was overturned by the Court of Appeal last year, with a re-trial | :04:38. | :04:41.
ordered. Today, a jury at Newport Crown Court decided by a majority | :04:41. | :04:45.
of 11 to one that he was, after all, the man responsible for her killing. | :04:45. | :04:55.
:04:55. | :04:58. | ||
Caroline Evans was in court. 62 now, John Pope was today | :04:58. | :05:02.
convicted for the second time of a murder he committed 15 years ago. | :05:02. | :05:08.
He did not react as the verdict was given. In the court, the family of | :05:08. | :05:13.
Karen Skipper sobbed. Afterwards, they gave this reaction. As a | :05:13. | :05:19.
family, we have been through 15 years of hell. Justice has now been | :05:19. | :05:24.
done and Karen can now finally rest in peace. It was a murder that | :05:24. | :05:29.
stunned a city and attracted nationwide publicity. Karen Skipper | :05:29. | :05:32.
was 34 and had been out walking with her dogs late one Saturday | :05:32. | :05:37.
night when she was killed. Her partially clothed body was found in | :05:37. | :05:41.
the River Ely and her hands were tied behind a back with her own dog | :05:41. | :05:45.
leads. She had been attacked and held and the river to drown. Her | :05:45. | :05:50.
two dogs stayed at his side all night. At first, police focused | :05:50. | :06:00.
:06:00. | :06:01. | ||
attention on her ex husband but at his trial in 1997, he was acquitted. | :06:01. | :06:02.
It was then that police looked again at forensic evidence. They | :06:02. | :06:06.
discovered a small bloodstain on the pocket of cannons jeans and on | :06:06. | :06:12.
her underwear. The DNA or mass a sample on the D8 database from John | :06:12. | :06:16.
Pope. He admitted that the blood was his and told police how he had | :06:16. | :06:21.
met a woman he had later realised was Karen Skipper outside a shop. | :06:21. | :06:25.
He had pulled a thorn from her dog's paw and the dog had bitten | :06:25. | :06:30.
him and she had wiped his hand with a tissue. He was not believe that | :06:30. | :06:35.
he was sentenced to life in prison. His conviction was overturned last | :06:35. | :06:41.
December. The Court of Appeal ordered this retrial. Now, after 23 | :06:41. | :06:46.
hours' deliberation, the jury in this case decided it was John Pope | :06:46. | :06:50.
who was after all responsible. hope the verdict will allow her | :06:50. | :06:55.
family and friends to move forward. We know they will never get over | :06:55. | :06:59.
losing her so quickly. Our thoughts are also with the family of Philip | :06:59. | :07:04.
skipper, who has had to endure a long legal process stretching over | :07:04. | :07:09.
nearly 15 years. Passing sentence, the judge told John Pope, quite | :07:10. | :07:16.
what happened that night only you know the answer. Karen Skipper was | :07:16. | :07:23.
a strong swimmer and in only a few feet of water, you drowned her. | :07:23. | :07:26.
It's said to be the biggest land deal in Wales in a generation and | :07:27. | :07:30.
tonight a front runner has emerged in the competition to buy the lease | :07:30. | :07:33.
on 23,000 acres of Powys, valued at 11 million. But water company | :07:33. | :07:36.
Severn Trent say they won't confirm who their preferred bidder for the | :07:36. | :07:38.
Vyrnwy Estate is, until a three month consultation has been carried | :07:39. | :07:41.
out. And tonight, in a separate development, there have been calls | :07:41. | :07:44.
for an inquiry into the sale. Our reporter, Matthew Richards, is on | :07:44. | :07:54.
:07:54. | :07:59. | ||
the Vyrnwy Estate. Much of the spectacular landscape | :07:59. | :08:04.
you can see behind me is up for grabs and some of the people living | :08:04. | :08:08.
locally wanted whoever bought the land to invest and bring jobs | :08:08. | :08:11.
whilst others simply wanted to maintain the peace and tranquillity | :08:11. | :08:19.
of this place. Now, amid rumours the front-runner is a water company, | :08:19. | :08:23.
people want the long-running saga to be sorted out. | :08:23. | :08:28.
Some light refreshment on the banks of Lake Vyrnwy. Chris Clark has run | :08:28. | :08:32.
his family business here for 14 years but since Severn Trent | :08:32. | :08:37.
announced they were selling up, he has faced uncertainty. We would | :08:37. | :08:45.
like to extend a whole business. -- the whole business. But we cannot | :08:45. | :08:52.
do that until we know what the next owners want us to do. Maybe they | :08:52. | :08:59.
don't want us here at all. They might have different plans. The | :08:59. | :09:03.
whole area is full of uncertainty. Many people had supported by a | :09:03. | :09:08.
property developer who was brought up locally, believing he would | :09:08. | :09:11.
invest in the area and create jobs. He issued a statement last night | :09:11. | :09:17.
after being told last night he was unsuccessful. Mr Jones has spent a | :09:17. | :09:20.
considerable amount of time and cost in assembling the bid and is | :09:20. | :09:25.
clearly disappointed that this has not led him to invest in the area. | :09:25. | :09:31.
Mr Jones has respected the views of the local community and our thanks | :09:31. | :09:35.
everybody in the community and around Wales who gave him much | :09:35. | :09:38.
support in the last 12 months. Rumours that another utility | :09:39. | :09:44.
company is the preferred bidder has led to disappointment. I need to | :09:44. | :09:49.
meet any new buyer. It seems as if it is united Utilities. The | :09:49. | :09:52.
reasonable people are concerned is because they fear it will be the | :09:52. | :09:56.
same as before. There are calls tonight into the inquiry for the | :09:56. | :10:03.
way the sale has been handled. Pecan nut be about a transfer | :10:03. | :10:07.
between two utility companies. There has to be a situation in | :10:07. | :10:11.
which the public interest is protected and the democratic | :10:11. | :10:14.
interest is held. The area is renowned for its wildlife habitats | :10:14. | :10:17.
but the Countryside Council for Wales will now carry out a three- | :10:17. | :10:20.
month consultation to canvass opinion on the way forward. It is | :10:20. | :10:29.
urging people to make their views known. The public should make their | :10:29. | :10:34.
views known. At the slow process of selecting a buyer is reaching its | :10:34. | :10:36.
conclusion but many here are still unsure about how they will be | :10:36. | :10:41.
affected by any changes a new owner might make. | :10:41. | :10:47.
Our I understand there is strong feeling of the about the sale. | :10:47. | :10:52.
That's right. Not everybody is necessarily against United in | :10:52. | :10:58.
utilities -- United Utilities. Tenants want to know if they can go | :10:58. | :11:00.
ahead and develop their businesses and build extensions to their | :11:00. | :11:05.
buildings and things like that. On the other hand, there are lots of | :11:05. | :11:09.
people say that the Mr Jones bid would have been something that | :11:09. | :11:16.
would help the area. They feel Severn Trent left things go | :11:16. | :11:23.
downhill when they were landlords. They feel that transferring it to | :11:23. | :11:27.
another large company, they would not have an interest in developing | :11:27. | :11:37.
:11:37. | :11:40. | ||
the area. There is a public meeting and that will be held on Monday. | :11:40. | :11:42.
Let's get more from our environment correspondent, Iolo ap Dafydd. How | :11:42. | :11:50.
will this consultation work? We are talking about a vast area of policy. | :11:50. | :11:54.
We're also talking about conservation land. Land Of | :11:54. | :12:03.
Scientific Interest and Special Areas of Conservation. The | :12:03. | :12:07.
Countryside Council for Wales will consult for three months. It is not | :12:07. | :12:11.
a public consultation but they will be talking to the national park in | :12:11. | :12:19.
Snowdonia and to Powys council and to the Environment Agency. If it is | :12:19. | :12:25.
thought to be united Utilities, there has to be a relevant | :12:25. | :12:29.
documentation handed over about how they will safeguard what there is | :12:29. | :12:35.
on that estate in the next 10 to 14 days. They will need to look at | :12:35. | :12:41.
Nash -- natural beauty, plants and historical and architectural and | :12:41. | :12:47.
public access. The Countryside Council for Wales will also have to | :12:47. | :12:52.
report to Caroline Spelman, the UK Secretary on environment. We heard | :12:52. | :12:57.
and the report that there are calls for an inquiry. Where is that | :12:57. | :13:03.
likely to go? It may well be a test case for the environment and | :13:04. | :13:08.
sustainable committee, chaired by the former presiding officer, | :13:08. | :13:17.
Dafydd Elis-Thomas. He is calling for an inquiry. We are talking | :13:17. | :13:21.
about one large company selling fast parts of Wales on to another. | :13:21. | :13:25.
The implications will be on the environment and of his your local | :13:25. | :13:33.
people. -- and obviously on. That inquiry will see whether the | :13:33. | :13:41.
Assembly Government will be important. The Assembly Government | :13:41. | :13:44.
is not offering a response because it does not want to be seen | :13:45. | :13:50.
responding to a commercial bid. Still to come tonight: A new | :13:50. | :13:53.
international striker is on the verge of signing for Cardiff City. | :13:53. | :13:55.
Former Wales international John Hartson tells us Kenny Miller would | :13:55. | :14:05.
:14:05. | :14:06. | ||
Welcome for the last time this week to Llanelwedd and the Royal Welsh | :14:06. | :14:11.
Show. The crowds are enjoying the final moments in the Main Ring this | :14:11. | :14:14.
evening before everyone packs up and heads home. 226,000 people have | :14:14. | :14:18.
been here this week - 5,000 less than last year, but organisers are | :14:18. | :14:24.
still delighted with how it's gone. But I think it's fair to say not | :14:24. | :14:26.
everyone's completely happy, particularly over in that area, | :14:26. | :14:31.
where the bulk of the trade stands have been trying to make money. A | :14:31. | :14:35.
lot of them have found it a struggle. | :14:35. | :14:38.
Every year, more than a thousand trade stands on the showground hope | :14:38. | :14:48.
to cash in. Dave Almond runs one of them and, along with others I've | :14:48. | :14:55.
spoken to, doesn't consider this to be a vintage year. This is the | :14:55. | :15:00.
worst year I have ever done. I don't think I will even cover the | :15:00. | :15:05.
costs this year. We sell high- priced items and what has been | :15:05. | :15:10.
happening is that they have been giving us a wide berth. They are | :15:10. | :15:13.
not looking, they are buying specifically what they want. Those | :15:13. | :15:18.
costs are more than 1,000 for the week. But Dave's experience hasn't | :15:18. | :15:22.
been shared by everyone. Some businesses close to the showground | :15:22. | :15:29.
say they've been overwhelmed. I grew up in mid Wales and spent a | :15:29. | :15:32.
summer working at this cafe opposite the showground. I remember | :15:32. | :15:35.
royal welsh week being incredibly busy. Let's speak to the current | :15:35. | :15:39.
manager. Lisa - I imagine Royal Welsh week here is as intense as it | :15:39. | :15:49.
:15:49. | :15:51. | ||
gets. There is a massive increase. We have got to look at the | :15:51. | :15:56.
surrounding area to find staff to help us. And pub landlords in | :15:56. | :15:59.
Builth Wells say there's been healthy trade in the evenings, | :15:59. | :16:02.
despite the Young Farmers' village down the road luring some of the | :16:02. | :16:10.
youngsters away. The publicans to tremendously well, the hotelier's, | :16:10. | :16:15.
some of the shops are a little bit quiet, and one or two to close and | :16:15. | :16:19.
traders take the opportunity to have a week away. But, on the whole, | :16:19. | :16:24.
it is a great asset to Builth Wells. Back at the showground, it's a | :16:24. | :16:28.
mixed picture. This year, it cost almost twice as much for a farmer | :16:28. | :16:32.
to book a cattle stall. The number of entries fell from around 1,000 | :16:32. | :16:36.
to less than 800. Millions of pounds worth of agricultural | :16:36. | :16:38.
machinery is on display but, with people across Wales tightening | :16:38. | :16:48.
their belts, are they just looking? We have dealers who will negotiate | :16:48. | :16:51.
deals while they are at the show but it will sow seeds for the rest | :16:51. | :16:55.
of the year because some of the equipment is seasonal. You are | :16:55. | :16:58.
making your mind up on what you want to purchase for the winter. | :16:58. | :17:01.
fewer people through the gates this year and, according to some people, | :17:01. | :17:10.
less money changing hands. One of the main organisers of the | :17:10. | :17:14.
show, Barrie Jones, joins me now. A lot of trade stands saying it's | :17:14. | :17:18.
been a slow week. 5,000 fewer visitors than last year. Is that | :17:18. | :17:21.
bad news for you? Around 700 fewer police officers | :17:21. | :17:23.
could be responding to emergencies in Wales by March 2015 as the four | :17:23. | :17:33.
:17:33. | :17:45. | ||
On the hall we have had good feedback and we are delighted with | :17:45. | :17:49.
the support we have had a. But if traders do nothing people are | :17:49. | :17:54.
spending money, they might not come back. We have enjoyed the support | :17:54. | :17:58.
and loyalty of traders for many years and we are confident that it | :17:58. | :18:07.
can be maintained. We will keep our policy and strategy under reveal | :18:07. | :18:12.
from ear to ear, but we are confident that we can retain their | :18:12. | :18:17.
support in years to come. One of the major talking points prior to | :18:17. | :18:20.
the show was the investment made in the ring and the drainage system | :18:20. | :18:24.
because in the past we have seen it turn into a mudbath. You must be | :18:24. | :18:29.
pretty delighted with the way it has turned out. Absolutely | :18:29. | :18:34.
delighted. We invested in a whole new drainage system, a new | :18:34. | :18:41.
foundation, it was quite an investment. 200,000. But look at | :18:41. | :18:46.
the end result. We are delighted and we have a Main Ring which is | :18:46. | :18:53.
worthy of a Royal Welsh Show. you for joining us. Plenty more to | :18:53. | :18:58.
come from the Royal Welsh later in the programme. Around 700 fewer | :18:58. | :19:01.
police officers could be responding to emergencies in Wales by March | :19:01. | :19:04.
2015 as the four Welsh forces make cuts. That's according to research | :19:05. | :19:08.
by Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary. Dyfed Powys Police | :19:08. | :19:11.
could see a slight increase, but the other three forces are likely | :19:11. | :19:16.
to see reductions. The price of gas and electricity is | :19:16. | :19:19.
going up for customers of Scottish and Southern Energy, which owns the | :19:19. | :19:24.
Welsh supplier SWALEC. The company is putting household gas bills up | :19:24. | :19:29.
by 18% from September, while electricity will rise by 11%. It's | :19:29. | :19:34.
blaming higher wholesale costs. The suspension of Conwy Council's | :19:34. | :19:39.
Chief Executive cost the authority almost 350,000. Byron Davies, who | :19:39. | :19:42.
was cleared of rape in January, was found guilty of misconduct by his | :19:42. | :19:46.
employers. Figures released under the freedom of information act show | :19:46. | :19:50.
the council paid his salary, legal advisers, as well as the cost of | :19:50. | :19:56.
covering his work. Now, it's a bit early for snow, but | :19:56. | :19:58.
Cardiff Council is trying to get schools, doctors surgeries and | :19:58. | :20:01.
community groups to pay 1,600 on 'snow kits' so they can help | :20:02. | :20:07.
themselves in freezing weather. The kits are made up of two gritting | :20:07. | :20:11.
bins and a spreader machine. But one teaching union says schools | :20:11. | :20:14.
don't have the spare cash, while the British Medical Association | :20:14. | :20:21.
said buckets and shovels were a cheaper alternative. | :20:21. | :20:25.
It's another big night of European football for Llaneli. The New | :20:25. | :20:30.
Saints start 3-1 down to Midtyland in Denmark. Meanwhile, Llanelli are | :20:30. | :20:37.
aiming to defend their 2-1 lead this evening. They've kicked off | :20:37. | :20:47.
:20:47. | :20:48. | ||
against Dinamo Tbilisi away in the Football, and former Wales striker, | :20:48. | :20:50.
John Hartson, says Kenny Miller would be an ideal signing for | :20:50. | :20:54.
Cardiff City. The club's in talks with the Scotland international as | :20:54. | :20:58.
new manager Malky Mackay rebuilds his squad for the new season. | :20:58. | :21:06.
Here's Tomos Dafydd. First home game and a first defeat | :21:06. | :21:11.
for Malky Mackay. Celtic were the visitors for this friendly. A | :21:11. | :21:17.
single goal was enough. And watching from the stands, Kenny | :21:17. | :21:21.
Miller, the Scotland striker who travel to Cardiff last night to | :21:21. | :21:25.
negotiate a deal with the Bluebirds. They had an offer accepted by his | :21:25. | :21:31.
Turkish club. He is a top professional footballer. With age, | :21:31. | :21:40.
he is getting better. He is a more experienced player in terms of his | :21:40. | :21:46.
overall game. I think he is a top professional as well. Swansea are | :21:46. | :21:50.
just weeks away from Premier League football. It was all smiles in last | :21:50. | :21:55.
week's team photo with the fans, but John Hartson says they need to | :21:55. | :22:00.
sign experienced players to cope in the top flight. Swansea will go | :22:00. | :22:04.
through a few rough patches this season, especially on the road, and | :22:04. | :22:08.
if they lose one or two games it is important to have a player to get | :22:08. | :22:13.
the lads together again in training and focus on the next game. So we | :22:13. | :22:18.
could see new faces at Cardiff and Swansea before the new season and | :22:18. | :22:22.
preparations on the field continue this weekend with Swansea facing a | :22:22. | :22:32.
:22:32. | :22:33. | ||
Welsh League club and Cardiff City travelling to Bournemouth. | :22:33. | :22:37.
Well, that's it from me this evening. I'll hand you back to Ross | :22:37. | :22:40.
for our final visit this year to the Royal Welsh Show. | :22:40. | :22:44.
Thanks, Lucy. The crowds are still enjoying the sunshine here tonight, | :22:44. | :22:49.
not leaving the Main Ring. It has been one of the big attractions | :22:49. | :22:53.
here this week. But, of course, that Main Ring throughout the week | :22:53. | :22:56.
is also about the big competitions where animals try to be Best in | :22:56. | :23:00.
Show. Cemlyn Davies has been following the highs and lows of | :23:00. | :23:10.
:23:10. | :23:10. | ||
competing at the Royal Welsh. This year's most prominent show | :23:10. | :23:14.
winner's circle the Main Ring one final time and among those taking | :23:14. | :23:18.
part in the parade of champions, the best Welsh black ball over four | :23:18. | :23:24.
years old. We met him on Monday along with John Hughes. John's | :23:24. | :23:28.
father owns the ball but was too unwell to come to Llanelwedd. He | :23:28. | :23:35.
has been following events closely from the farm on Anglesey. We had | :23:35. | :23:40.
Supreme at the Anglesey show four times but this is the cream of the | :23:40. | :23:47.
success. I wish I could be there but I am very confident in John. | :23:47. | :23:54.
After he won, I have got to tell you, my eyes went a bit wet. He was | :23:55. | :23:57.
back in action this morning representing the Welsh Blacks | :23:57. | :24:02.
against other native breeds. Preparing a bowl full competition | :24:02. | :24:09.
is no easy task. It takes about five hours from start to finish. | :24:09. | :24:14.
You have got to wash him and then it is like a woman going to a | :24:14. | :24:20.
hairdresser. But this one is much cheaper. He seems perfectly used | :24:20. | :24:26.
all of this. We have trained him since he was a little calf. It is | :24:26. | :24:36.
:24:36. | :24:39. | ||
natural for him. Good luck in the competition. This pet rabbit, | :24:39. | :24:46.
Sapphire, wins her competition. am amazed, it is her first show. | :24:46. | :24:50.
She did really well and I am really happy. Backing the Cattle Ring, | :24:50. | :24:59.
there was a different outcome. The first prize went to the longhorn. | :24:59. | :25:03.
would have loved to have finished on a high note, but there we go. | :25:03. | :25:09.
There is another show coming up so onwards and forwards. They leave | :25:09. | :25:13.
for Anglesey knowing that the proud owner and father will be waiting to | :25:13. | :25:20.
welcome them home. We've been fairly lucky with the | :25:20. | :25:23.
weather this week. No glorious sunshine, but no heavy downpours | :25:23. | :25:26.
either. A few showers this afternoon. What's in store for the | :25:26. | :25:34.
It is looking quite promising for the weekend. We got off quite | :25:34. | :25:38.
lightly today. We had one heavy shower this afternoon but at the | :25:38. | :25:42.
moment it is nice and dry with a little bit of sunshine. The best of | :25:42. | :25:46.
the sunshine today has been in Pembrokeshire. Temperatures in | :25:46. | :25:51.
Milford Haven as high as 19 degree Celsius. But there has been some | :25:51. | :25:58.
heavy and thundery downpours. The forecast tomorrow is once again | :25:58. | :26:02.
looking mixed. Some sunshine, some places tried but not everywhere, | :26:02. | :26:06.
but there are a few more heavy showers in the forecast. This | :26:06. | :26:11.
evening, those heavy, thundery downpours I mentioned in parts of | :26:11. | :26:14.
Mid-Wales and the South will continue for a while before slowly | :26:14. | :26:22.
dying away. A fair amount of cloud overnight. Light winds with lowest | :26:22. | :26:26.
temperatures around 11 degrees Celsius. Tomorrow's chart shows | :26:26. | :26:31.
high pressure North of Ireland with a few troughs in southern England | :26:31. | :26:37.
and Wales. Tomorrow, mixed fortunes again. A few bright and sunny | :26:37. | :26:42.
intervals but cloud building through the day. These mainly in | :26:42. | :26:46.
Mid Wales. They should not be as heavy as today but I would not rule | :26:46. | :26:50.
out the odd sharp one. Some places staying dry tomorrow, the best of | :26:50. | :26:56.
the sunshine towards the north and west coast. Temperatures similar to | :26:56. | :27:00.
today's. Tomorrow night, the showers will fade away to leave | :27:00. | :27:04.
much of the country dry with some patchy cloud and clear spells. He | :27:04. | :27:09.
is looking fairly promising for the weekend. The odd shower in places | :27:09. | :27:14.
on Saturday but otherwise fine with good spells of sunshine. Something | :27:14. | :27:23.
When we arrived on Sunday, it was pouring with rain, but we have been | :27:23. | :27:28. |
