The M4 lorry fire caused misery for thousands of motorists but, tonight, | :00:02. | :00:12.
:00:12. | :00:28. | ||
Wrexham Football Club say they've run out of money - staff and | :00:28. | :00:38.
:00:38. | :00:40. | ||
players won't be paid this month. The fans are being asked to pitch | :00:40. | :00:44.
in to pay the players' wages. Elliot can now talk after going to | :00:44. | :00:46.
a special unit for autistic children, but it's threatened with | :00:46. | :00:52.
closure. He has made massive progress. It | :00:52. | :00:56.
would be devastating to his future if that did happen. | :00:56. | :00:59.
And yours for a thousand pounds - the deal offered to campaigners | :00:59. | :01:01.
fighting to save this church. Good evening from the National Pool | :01:01. | :01:04.
in Swansea where, tonight, our Olympic hopeful is a swimmer who | :01:04. | :01:14.
:01:14. | :01:16. | ||
calls this place her second home. Good evening. It caused traffic | :01:16. | :01:19.
chaos and misery for thousands of commuters. Some queued for hours | :01:19. | :01:23.
just to travel a few miles. On Tuesday, a lorry fire in the | :01:23. | :01:26.
Brynglas Tunnels closed one of the main routes into Wales but, tonight, | :01:26. | :01:30.
the road has re-opened. These pictures from inside the tunnel | :01:30. | :01:33.
show the extent of the damage - the temperature so high, the tarmac | :01:33. | :01:38.
melted. Well, Kate Scott-Williams is in the newsroom with the latest. | :01:38. | :01:42.
What's the latest? This afternoon, we've heard from | :01:42. | :01:44.
the Minister for Transport, Carl Sergeant, who's confirmed that the | :01:44. | :01:49.
tunnel is now fully reopened in both directions. As you can see | :01:49. | :01:55.
here, traffic is moving well through the tunnels. There's a | :01:55. | :01:58.
30mph speed limit in the westbound tunnel as there is only partial | :01:58. | :02:04.
lighting. If you remember, it was this tunnel where the lorry caught | :02:04. | :02:09.
fire. Temperatures were so high that it melted the tarmac and | :02:09. | :02:17.
destroyed the overhead lights. At the time, they said the tunnels | :02:17. | :02:20.
could be closed for weeks, but around a hundred people have been | :02:20. | :02:23.
working around the clock over the last 72 hours to clear debris and | :02:23. | :02:32.
examine the tunnel to make sure it's safe. They've resurfaced part | :02:32. | :02:35.
of the tunnel, they've replaced the white lines and the cats eyes on | :02:35. | :02:43.
the road and they've cleaned the tunnel. And today engineers gave it | :02:43. | :02:47.
the green light. There are restrictions as I said - 30mph, and | :02:47. | :02:52.
drivers must have their headlights Kate, it's caused traffic problems | :02:52. | :02:57.
for days. Obviously, this news will come as a | :02:57. | :03:02.
huge relief to motorists. During Tuesday's rush hour, the M4 around | :03:02. | :03:07.
the area was closed both ways. Some of them were left stranded for up | :03:07. | :03:11.
to two hours and queues stretched back for nine miles. Amazingly, no- | :03:11. | :03:16.
one was injured. The incident has re-opened the debate on whether an | :03:16. | :03:25.
M4 relief road is needed. But, tonight, some relief for motorists, | :03:25. | :03:27.
especially those going on holiday, but the 30mph speed restriction | :03:27. | :03:30.
will stay in place until they're able to carry out improvements to | :03:30. | :03:34.
the tunnel over the coming weeks, which will mean a number of night- | :03:34. | :03:44.
:03:44. | :03:49. | ||
time closures. Six members of staff have been | :03:49. | :03:52.
suspended at a care home in Gwynedd after a report found several | :03:52. | :03:56.
failings. The Care and Social Services Inspectorate, who visited | :03:56. | :03:59.
Cerrig Camu in Dolgellau, found rooms smelling of urine and a poor | :03:59. | :04:04.
standard of care. It followed an anonymous complaint that one of the | :04:04. | :04:08.
residents was being neglected. The company, which owns the home, says | :04:08. | :04:13.
it takes client welfare extremely seriously. | :04:13. | :04:15.
A sex offender from Powys who was jailed indefinitely earlier this | :04:15. | :04:19.
year has had his conviction overturned. Anthony Milsom, who's | :04:19. | :04:22.
62 and from Newtown, pleaded guilty to more than 40 sex-related | :04:22. | :04:27.
offences, dating back to the early 1990s. He's now been sentenced to | :04:27. | :04:30.
three-and-a-half years at the Court of Appeal after the judge said his | :04:30. | :04:33.
crimes did not justify an open- ended sentence from which he might | :04:33. | :04:40.
never be released. It's a new low for a club that | :04:40. | :04:43.
seems to be stumbling from one financial crisis to the next. | :04:43. | :04:46.
Wrexham's fans are being asked to pay the players' wages because the | :04:46. | :04:51.
club can't afford it. More than 100 support staff will also miss-out on | :04:51. | :05:01.
:05:01. | :05:05. | ||
pay this month. Carwyn Jones has commented on the club's problems, | :05:05. | :05:08.
saying it is sad news. Matthew Richards is at the Racecourse for | :05:08. | :05:12.
Thanks. First there was the news that Wrexham FC's stable-mates, | :05:12. | :05:15.
Crusaders, wouldn't be playing in the top flight for the time being, | :05:15. | :05:19.
and now the future of the football club itself has become even less | :05:19. | :05:22.
certain. The players have revolted, saying that without being paid, | :05:22. | :05:27.
they wouldn't play in two friendly games. And, to cap it all, in just | :05:27. | :05:29.
a few days, the Football Conference will want assurances that Wrexham | :05:29. | :05:32.
is actually match fit for next season. | :05:32. | :05:35.
The team were told at training yesterday that the club wouldn't be | :05:35. | :05:39.
able to pay them this month. Dean Saunders says his team held a | :05:39. | :05:42.
meeting and decided to down tools, missing two friendly matches, | :05:42. | :05:45.
including one last night at Colwyn Bay. But, this afternoon, the | :05:45. | :05:55.
Wrexham Supporters' Federation has appealed to fans to make donations. | :05:55. | :05:59.
The federation has approached us about any interim fund to help | :05:59. | :06:05.
players with wages. That will help the supporters' trust in being able | :06:05. | :06:09.
to conclude the deal. The club's plight has even attracted comment | :06:09. | :06:12.
from the First Minister, who says he's saddened by events at Wrexham, | :06:12. | :06:16.
but that the best way forward is for it to be run by people with its | :06:16. | :06:19.
best interests at heart. The Football Conference is | :06:19. | :06:22.
investigating the problems. It will want to know soon if the club will | :06:22. | :06:32.
be able to take part in the Blue Square Premier next season. There | :06:32. | :06:36.
are 115 people employed here from office workers, bar staff, caterers | :06:36. | :06:40.
and the people who maintain the crowds do. In the past they have | :06:40. | :06:44.
been told they might be paid a deal too late but this month they will | :06:45. | :06:48.
not get paid at all. Former manager Dixie McNeil says whatever is | :06:48. | :06:54.
causing the hold-up, time is running out. The deal is taking so | :06:54. | :07:01.
long between the trust and it looks as if patience is running out. On | :07:01. | :07:06.
the website, the statement was, we have gone past our sell-by date, we | :07:06. | :07:10.
are not going to pay any more money to the football club. A deal has | :07:10. | :07:14.
got to be done very quickly. Crusaders players have at least | :07:14. | :07:17.
been paid. The Rugby Football League stepped in, offering the | :07:17. | :07:20.
club an advance on its broadcasting revenue. The football side will be | :07:20. | :07:22.
hoping fans dig deep too. Matthew, what's causing the delay | :07:22. | :07:30.
in signing a deal? It is all very complicated but the latest | :07:30. | :07:35.
participant in this saga is the university. They want to buy at | :07:35. | :07:39.
this ground, and that is the expensive part. The support | :07:39. | :07:42.
distrust are only interested in taking over the club, and that | :07:42. | :07:46.
would be for a nominal fee. But Glyndwr University are following | :07:46. | :07:50.
all the correct procedures. They are carrying out a due diligence | :07:50. | :07:54.
process and that this takes some time. It is also complicated by the | :07:54. | :08:00.
fact there is not just one owner. BBC Wales understands the Rugby | :08:00. | :08:04.
Football League also owns a large portion of the ground itself. | :08:04. | :08:07.
new season is just around the corner. Wrexham need to get their | :08:08. | :08:13.
house in order before the first game. The Football Conference have | :08:13. | :08:15.
already started to make their inquiries but we understand they | :08:15. | :08:18.
are going to try to meet some delegates from Wrexham next week to | :08:18. | :08:23.
get some answers because, as we saw with the Crusaders, they need to | :08:23. | :08:27.
say at a particular deadline, we will be able to play in the league | :08:27. | :08:31.
this season. We have only got two weeks until the first home game is | :08:31. | :08:36.
Scheduled at Wrexham. In the meantime, we have had the local | :08:36. | :08:40.
Assembly Member saying perhaps the Football Association could step in | :08:40. | :08:45.
to try to pay the players' wages. She has also asked the Football | :08:45. | :08:48.
Association of Wales to lend its support to all the parties. | :08:49. | :08:51.
Council officers in Flintshire have been accused of presenting | :08:51. | :08:53.
inaccurate information to justify closing a unit for autistic | :08:53. | :08:58.
children. The unit at Westwood Primary School in Buckley faces | :08:58. | :09:01.
closure after officers said it hadn't succeeded. But a professor | :09:01. | :09:04.
at Bangor University says his research suggests the claims are | :09:04. | :09:14.
:09:14. | :09:17. | ||
wrong. Mark Hannaby has the story. This five-year-old is autistic. He | :09:17. | :09:20.
has difficulties communicating and interacting with people. His mother | :09:20. | :09:25.
says he has been helped enormously by a teaching method called Applied | :09:25. | :09:35.
:09:35. | :09:35. | ||
behavioural analysis at the primary She fears Elliott's progress may be | :09:35. | :09:41.
reversed if the unit closes. That has happened. There is a young boy | :09:41. | :09:46.
who went to the class and he was put in a bid Generic special school. | :09:46. | :09:50.
He spot speaking with informants of been there. That is not what I want | :09:50. | :09:54.
to happen to Eliot because he has made such massive progress, it | :09:54. | :09:59.
would be devastating to his future. Flintshire council claimed the | :09:59. | :10:04.
autism unit has not worked. A report says it restricted the | :10:04. | :10:06.
development of independence skills and left children with increased | :10:06. | :10:11.
dependency on adult support. Those claims are denied by the professor | :10:11. | :10:16.
from Bangor University who previously oversaw the work there. | :10:16. | :10:19.
We have got good outcome data from those children and we have | :10:19. | :10:23.
presented that data at conferences and should the data with the | :10:23. | :10:28.
council and the school with a unit is based. I am pretty sure that | :10:28. | :10:31.
information is available and clearly shows that children did | :10:31. | :10:37.
very well. The chair of the Assembly's autism group, argue | :10:37. | :10:45.
councillors have not been accurately informed. Absolutely. | :10:45. | :10:49.
There are major questions to be asked about the evidence which | :10:49. | :10:54.
appears to have been presented to elected members. A lack of any | :10:54. | :10:58.
objective evidence based, suggestions rather than fact, about | :10:58. | :11:01.
outcomes, about the numbers of children who need this kind of | :11:01. | :11:10.
provision, confusion even over what autism is. A spokesman for the | :11:10. | :11:12.
council said the unit can support 10 pupils but that demand has gone | :11:12. | :11:17.
down, with only two pupils due to attend in the next school year. | :11:17. | :11:22.
Molly Johnson learnt to communicate through sign language at the unit. | :11:22. | :11:25.
Her questions -- parents questioned claimed that there is insufficient | :11:25. | :11:30.
demand for it. We know from first- hand experience that they are not | :11:30. | :11:34.
telling parents about the unit. If the parents don't know about the | :11:34. | :11:38.
unit, they are not going to demand it. There was a joint venture | :11:38. | :11:42.
between Wrexham and Flintshire put Wrexham have decided not to send | :11:42. | :11:45.
any children there because it is closing, and Flintshire claim it is | :11:45. | :11:50.
closing because no one is sending any children there. Councillors | :11:50. | :11:56.
vote on the unit's future on 20th October. Supporters will try to | :11:56. | :12:02.
persuade them a disservice to stay open. Gashed the service needs to | :12:02. | :12:06.
stay open. And Flintshire Council has | :12:06. | :12:08.
responded tonight, saying all parents of pupils with Autistic | :12:08. | :12:11.
Spectrum Disorder in the area are made aware of the full range of | :12:11. | :12:13.
provision available, including the unit at Westwood Primary School. | :12:14. | :12:17.
Sarah Lambert is the Head of Policy from the National Autistic Society. | :12:17. | :12:20.
What sort of pressure are you seeing on autism units like this | :12:20. | :12:22.
one, given the tough financial situation for councils across | :12:22. | :12:27.
Wales? There are financial constraints on councils at the | :12:27. | :12:33.
moment but what of the action plan in Wales shows is that all local | :12:33. | :12:38.
authorities should be gathering together local stakeholders and | :12:38. | :12:42.
probably setting out plans for their local autism provision. If | :12:43. | :12:46.
they do that properly, they can save money in the long run, because | :12:46. | :12:50.
if you invest early in autism, it prevents other problems developing | :12:50. | :12:55.
at a later stage. How important is it that services like this are | :12:55. | :13:00.
accessible to people who need it? Parents tell us they want a range | :13:01. | :13:06.
of provision for their children. Every child's autism is different. | :13:06. | :13:10.
Some can flourish in mainstream education while others need | :13:10. | :13:13.
specialist support. What is important is that there is that | :13:13. | :13:17.
knowledge and expertise and that they can have a choice between | :13:17. | :13:25.
provision, whether mainstream or The Church in Wales has offered to | :13:25. | :13:28.
sell a Rhondda community its church for 1,000. Protesters have been | :13:28. | :13:32.
camped out at All Saints in Maerdy for almost a month to try to get it | :13:32. | :13:35.
reopened. Today, they've been offered the chance to buy it for a | :13:35. | :13:45.
:13:45. | :13:46. | ||
fraction of its market value. The parishioners have a big decision to | :13:46. | :13:51.
make. They wanted 12 months to raise the money needed for repairs. | :13:51. | :13:58.
At times, things have become heated. We are only asking for 12 months. | :13:58. | :14:02.
The Archbishop of Wales's first offer to sell the church was turned | :14:02. | :14:11.
down. Today's further concession means the community who can own it | :14:11. | :14:15.
for 1,000. I think it is a brilliant opportunity for the | :14:15. | :14:20.
community to own the church. Obviously, we need to take charge | :14:20. | :14:25.
of it and to get it repaired and get it up to its former glory. | :14:25. | :14:29.
many, it has become a second home. Up to this week, protesters have | :14:29. | :14:34.
been sleeping at the church. But there are conditions attached to | :14:34. | :14:41.
the sale. There are legalities involved. We are looking for | :14:41. | :14:50.
somebody who is experienced in the law. We need legal advice. | :14:50. | :14:55.
Church needs a lot of money to be spent done it. A survey this week | :14:55. | :15:00.
indicated that making the building Structured a sound would cost less | :15:00. | :15:06.
than the original estimate. But it has suffered from deterioration of | :15:06. | :15:09.
the fabric on the outside and there is dampness getting into it. Other | :15:09. | :15:15.
than that, it is in pretty good condition. There are a few areas | :15:16. | :15:24.
where work is required. If they address the main areas to make sure | :15:24. | :15:28.
it is weather type then that would go a long way. That would leave a | :15:28. | :15:32.
lot of internal repairs to pay for. A public meeting are now be held on | :15:32. | :15:36.
Monday to decide the next move. Still to come on Wales Today: All | :15:36. | :15:39.
tonight's sport from Swansea's National Pool. | :15:39. | :15:41.
Finally unveiled, we hear from Cardiff City's new signing Kenny | :15:41. | :15:46.
Miller. We're following her on the road to | :15:46. | :15:50.
London. Jazz Carlin shares her dream of swimming at the London | :15:50. | :15:59.
Two men who earned hundreds of thousands of pounds by illegally | :15:59. | :16:03.
storing up to 10,500 tonnes of waste have escaped prison. Barry | :16:03. | :16:07.
Hermon and Dennis Morgan ran Able Skips in Newport. They consistently | :16:07. | :16:15.
breached the limits of waste they were allowed at their site. Able | :16:15. | :16:18.
Skips of Newport was first issued with a permit to store controlled | :16:18. | :16:21.
waste in 2004, but it wasn't long before it was in the sights of the | :16:21. | :16:26.
Environment Agency. Between 2006 and 2008, despite warnings to clear | :16:26. | :16:28.
waste, a prosecution and fines totalling almost 30,000, the | :16:28. | :16:31.
company consistently exceeded it's allowance of 1,000 tonnes, at it's | :16:31. | :16:41.
:16:41. | :16:43. | ||
height reaching over 10,000. After admitting 20 charges related to | :16:43. | :16:45.
environmental crimes, directors Barry Hermon and Dennis Barry were | :16:45. | :16:55.
:16:55. | :16:59. | ||
today given suspended prison sentences of 10 months each. | :16:59. | :17:02.
think it sends an important message to anybody who is operating | :17:03. | :17:06.
illegally that the Environment Agency is tenacious and we will | :17:06. | :17:11.
bring them to court and justice will be done. From above, the scale | :17:11. | :17:14.
of the waste kept at an industrial estate in Newport is clear. The BBC | :17:15. | :17:17.
were taken onto the site by the Environment Agency in 2009. Waste | :17:18. | :17:22.
that could no longer fit into the unit was piling up outside. At the | :17:22. | :17:25.
height of the operation, the directors of Able Skips say they | :17:25. | :17:33.
were taking in income of a thousand pounds a day. There is a level of | :17:33. | :17:39.
activity at of this nature for that we have a great deal of | :17:39. | :17:41.
intelligence and we will bring these cases to court when we find | :17:41. | :17:45.
them. Both men have been ordered to pay back almost half a million | :17:45. | :17:48.
pounds of assets between them. Dennis Barry, seen here leaving | :17:48. | :17:51.
court, was told he escaped time in prison, in part due to the recent | :17:51. | :17:55.
ill health of his fellow defendant. In sentencing the pair, Judge | :17:55. | :17:58.
Nicholas Cooke QC said they had been motivated by greed and that | :17:58. | :18:01.
nobody should have sympathy for them being left penniless due to | :18:01. | :18:06.
this prosecution. He added that had this case been dealt with quicker, | :18:06. | :18:14.
they would've faced a prison Jobs could be at risk if the | :18:14. | :18:17.
National Eisteddfod is forced to make further savings. That's the | :18:17. | :18:20.
warning tonight from its Chief Executive. Ahead of this evening's | :18:21. | :18:23.
opening concert in Wrexham, Elfed Roberts says the festival has | :18:23. | :18:26.
tightened its belt as much as it can. The Welsh Government says it's | :18:26. | :18:29.
committed to the festival but the Eisteddfod must consider its | :18:29. | :18:39.
:18:39. | :18:41. | ||
priorities. We are hoping that people will turn up to see what a | :18:41. | :18:45.
wonderful sight this is an to see everything we have prepared for | :18:45. | :18:49.
them. We will take it from there. That is the only thing we can do. | :18:49. | :18:53.
Derek and I will be at Wrexham next week, bringing you all the news | :18:53. | :18:55.
from the Maes. Let's head to Swansea now and the | :18:55. | :18:59.
National Pool. Claire has all the day's sport. | :18:59. | :19:03.
$$WHITEGood evening. Yes, pool-side tonight here in Swansea. We'll be | :19:03. | :19:06.
hearing from the Welsh Olympic hopeful who calls this place her | :19:06. | :19:16.
:19:16. | :19:17. | ||
second home in just a moment. First, rugby news. Wales play England next | :19:17. | :19:20.
weekend in their first World Cup warm up match and today, forwards | :19:20. | :19:26.
Andy Powell and Jonathan Thomas have been re-called to the squad. | :19:26. | :19:29.
The pair had been excluded from Wales' second training camp in | :19:29. | :19:32.
Poland, but they'll now be available for selection for the two | :19:32. | :19:40.
matches against England and one against Argentina in August. | :19:40. | :19:43.
There's still no place in the 39 man squad for Blues scrum-half | :19:43. | :19:51.
Richie Rees. Football. This is a city about to | :19:51. | :19:55.
embark on life in the Premier League. Swansea City say Leroy Lita | :19:55. | :19:59.
has agreed personal terms to join them on a three-year contract. The | :19:59. | :20:02.
26-year-old striker is expected in the city on Tuesday for a medical | :20:02. | :20:10.
and could face Celtic a day later. Meanwhile Cardiff's new striker | :20:10. | :20:19.
Kenny Miller has finally been unveiled. | :20:19. | :20:22.
With their Premier League debut little more than a fortnight away, | :20:22. | :20:25.
Swansea City now seem on the verge of adding another quality striker | :20:25. | :20:29.
to their squad. Leroy Lita is 26 years old and a former England | :20:29. | :20:33.
under 21 international with a decent goal-scoring record. He'll | :20:33. | :20:36.
have a medical at Swansea next week after agreeing a fee of 1.75 | :20:36. | :20:41.
million with Middlesbough. Elsewhere Cardiff City's new | :20:41. | :20:45.
striker was introduced to the media today. Scottish international Kenny | :20:46. | :20:48.
Miller explained why he joined after a short-lived spell at | :20:48. | :20:57.
Turkish side Bursaspoor. For me, it was an opportunity to get across | :20:58. | :21:07.
:21:08. | :21:10. | ||
here. I was really excited to come and speak to the manager. Everybody | :21:10. | :21:14.
speaks good words about them. They have a fantastic reputation. Fans | :21:14. | :21:16.
are hoping he'll now form a prolific partnership with another | :21:16. | :21:24.
recent signing, Robert Earnshaw. They are both good players and they | :21:24. | :21:29.
are very experienced. They will make a good combination. This year, | :21:29. | :21:35.
they have both captained their country and that speaks volumes. We | :21:35. | :21:40.
have to cut and wanting to come to play to -- with us. It's only nine | :21:40. | :21:43.
days until Cardiff's first competitive match away at West Ham. | :21:43. | :21:46.
But tomorrow they'll have real test when Italian Seria A side Parma are | :21:46. | :21:48.
the visitors to the Cardiff City Stadium. | :21:48. | :21:51.
All this week on Wales Today we've been marking a year to go until the | :21:51. | :21:55.
Olympic Games by looking at five Welsh hopefuls, all with a dream of | :21:55. | :21:58.
getting there. One lady who spends most of her time here at the | :21:58. | :22:01.
National Pool is swimmer Jazz Carlin. She spends almost 24 hours | :22:01. | :22:05.
in this pool every week. She's at the World Championships at the | :22:05. | :22:08.
moment in China where she's been having a tough time, but they don't | :22:08. | :22:11.
call her the pitbull for nothing. She's determined to be in London | :22:11. | :22:21.
:22:21. | :22:22. | ||
next year. She is the glamourous face of swimming. But it is the | :22:22. | :22:25.
pool where she is still most comfortable. With the Olympic Games | :22:25. | :22:30.
less than one year away, it is all she can think about. It gives you | :22:30. | :22:36.
goose bumps. I have been two major meets and the an Olympic Games is | :22:36. | :22:42.
the big one. Fingers crossed I can be there. Training means 23 hours a | :22:42. | :22:47.
week in the water and around five hours in the gym and six hours of | :22:47. | :22:52.
physio in preparation of the big competitions. Illness means she has | :22:52. | :22:57.
had a difficult World Championships. She failed to reach the final of | :22:57. | :23:06.
the 800 metres today. She has won silver with team GB. For Wales, she | :23:06. | :23:16.
has had success at the Commonwealth Games. Everyone says is at a bad | :23:16. | :23:20.
thing to have such strong competition. That is a good thing. | :23:20. | :23:25.
It spurs me on even further. Racing the best in the world in my home | :23:26. | :23:29.
country events definitely helps because it prepares me to face the | :23:29. | :23:34.
rest of the world. She is under the guidance of a world renowned | :23:34. | :23:40.
Californian coach. His sessions may be like a maths session but they | :23:40. | :23:50.
:23:50. | :23:52. | ||
work. Right now one of their best events she is ranked 5th or 6th in | :23:52. | :24:02.
:24:02. | :24:02. | ||
the world. Realistically, she could have a shot at her a medal if she | :24:02. | :24:08.
stays healthy and trains well. started swimming at a young age and | :24:08. | :24:12.
says family support is vital. But not everyone in the family is a | :24:13. | :24:19.
water baby. My mother hates swimming. She is scared of water. | :24:19. | :24:24.
My father likes to come for a swim. But they do manage to come up and | :24:24. | :24:30.
watch me a swim. It is nice to have that support from them and to know | :24:30. | :24:37.
your home town or being around you and they say well done. The Olympic | :24:37. | :24:41.
trials our next match in the Olympic pool. She desperately wants | :24:41. | :24:48.
to be there. It is definitely what we are hoping for. We have been | :24:48. | :24:55.
training our whole lives to go out there. | :24:55. | :24:57.
Just down the road at St Helen's Glamorgan's cricketers having a | :24:57. | :25:07.
:25:07. | :25:26. | ||
Plenty of action here tonight. Swimming club racing this weekend. | :25:26. | :25:29.
Back to the studio. The weather's looking good for the | :25:29. | :25:39.
:25:39. | :25:39. | ||
weekend for most of us. Here's It has been a pretty cloudy day | :25:39. | :25:47.
today. The satellite picture picked it up very nicely. Thick cloud | :25:47. | :25:50.
sitting across Wales. Some bright as developing in the West. | :25:50. | :25:57.
Overnight, the whole mass of cloud slowly shifts southwards. It will | :25:57. | :26:02.
leave some clear spells. With the clearer skies and the light winds, | :26:02. | :26:07.
this is where we will have some of the lowest temperatures. Further | :26:07. | :26:11.
south, we keep the remnants of the weather front and a thicker cloud. | :26:11. | :26:17.
A milder night to come. For the first half of the weekend, it is | :26:17. | :26:21.
dominated by a high pressure. It is trying to keep this weather front | :26:21. | :26:26.
at bay. It looks as if it will be successful by Sunday. It may be | :26:26. | :26:29.
cloudy on Saturday to start. The cloud will break and sunshine will | :26:29. | :26:39.
:26:39. | :26:41. | ||
come through. For July can -- for July, it to return pretty warm. A | :26:41. | :26:47.
fine end to the day and a lovely evening. Overnight, it stays | :26:47. | :26:53.
largely dry. Overnight lows dipping to around 12 Celsius. On Sunday, | :26:53. | :26:57.
the sign of that weather front starts to approach from the West. | :26:57. | :27:03.
Thicker cloud developing throughout the day. Cooler in the West and a | :27:03. | :27:06.
few spots of rain. The best of any bright s will be in the east. For | :27:07. | :27:15.
the weekend, not looking too bad. It will turn more and settled on | :27:15. | :27:20.
Monday and Tuesday. All in all, the weekend weather is not looking too | :27:20. | :27:27. |
