Good evening. Welcome to Wales Across the country thousands fell | :00:07. | :00:14.
silent to remember those who lost their lives in conflict. It is the | :00:14. | :00:18.
first year that we have not got any veterans alive from the First World | :00:18. | :00:28.

Good evening. Thousands of us up and down Wales paused this morning | :01:33. | :01:37.
to remember those who have died in wars. Exactly 93 years ago the guns | :01:37. | :01:40.
fell silent on the Western Front bringing the First World War to an | :01:40. | :01:45.
end. It was described at the time as the war to end all wars. Events | :01:45. | :01:55.

were held today across the country In Mumbles, the last post marks the | :02:20. | :02:29.

make his way back to Britain. a lucky one. I managed to get in | :03:23. | :03:30.
with friends in France. We lost three engines out a four but had no | :03:30. | :03:36.
option but to bail-out. I travelled right across France. I went over to | :03:36. | :03:44.
Spain. I was in prison in Spain for about 10 days. I was in an | :03:44. | :03:48.
internment camp for 10 days and then went down to Gibraltar. | :03:48. | :03:54.

Charles Goch was 23 when he joined the Royal Navy for stuttered they | :04:18. | :04:22.
at 95 he took to the waters again, as special guest of the Royal Navy | :04:22. | :04:28.
had to come out on the Bristol channel. One does it like being out | :04:28. | :04:37.
on the water again? It is a bit rough. I bet you're in rougher seas | :04:37. | :04:43.
than theirs? I bet you were. easier it is the first year that we | :04:43. | :04:48.
haven't got many veterans a live from the First World War saw I | :04:48. | :04:53.
think it is doubly important that they not be forgotten. The minute's | :04:53. | :04:58.
silence is important everyone to take that time and remember that | :04:58. | :05:02.
everyone has given their lives to make sure we can live freely and | :05:02. | :05:07.
secure lead the way we do today. Exactly 93 years after the guns | :05:07. | :05:12.
fell silent on the Western Front thousands remember those who made | :05:12. | :05:16.
and continue to make the ultimate sacrifice. | :05:16. | :05:19.
Later in the programme we will be following the work of volunteers in | :05:19. | :05:22.
the Rhymney Valley who restored their war memorial in time for | :05:22. | :05:26.
Armistice Day. For the past few months the community of at | :05:26. | :05:28.
Aberbargoed including ex-servicemen and school children have been busy | :05:28. | :05:30.
repairing the 91-year-old memorial and building a new garden of | :05:30. | :05:40.
Around 100 people have been protesting in Cardiff as part of a | :05:40. | :05:45.
global movement against banking and big business. Tents have been put | :05:45. | :05:48.
up outside Cardiff Castle tonight. It follows the high-profile camp | :05:48. | :05:51.
outside St Paul's Cathedral in London which has been there for | :05:51. | :05:56.
almost four weeks. Our reporter Nick Palit is there this evening. | :05:56. | :06:00.
You join me at this campsite outside Cardiff Castle. These | :06:00. | :06:05.
protesters have been here ran four hours. At the height there were | :06:05. | :06:10.
around 100 of them. The police have taken a softly softly approach and | :06:10. | :06:16.
they have been praying for rain. The rain has disperse the crowds. | :06:16. | :06:24.
There are rare hard core of about 30 remaining. Those he will concede | :06:24. | :06:27.

campaign follows long as people think it is the right idea. We want | :06:49. | :06:54.
to build for the future. November 30th is going to be the biggest | :06:54. | :06:59.
strike in decades in Britain. Everybody here is behind that. I | :06:59. | :07:02.
was at London yesterday and everybody is behind the 30th. We | :07:02. | :07:08.
need to stand together and push back against the cutbacks. Within | :07:08. | :07:12.
minutes they had marched across the road and set up a campsite on the | :07:12. | :07:16.
grass to the side of Cardiff Castle. These protesters claim to be a part | :07:16. | :07:21.
of a global movement and many of those involved have taken part in | :07:22. | :07:27.
occupations in London and Bristol. Be giving -- the they are giving | :07:27. | :07:34.
out leaflets to the public. working-class are fed up of paying | :07:34. | :07:38.
for what the banks and the government have done. We don't | :07:38. | :07:42.
think it is fair that we had to take cuts in public services and | :07:42. | :07:47.
tax payers have to pay higher taxes. I am not camping out, just here to | :07:47. | :07:55.
help out in any way I can. I want my kids to have a future. It was a | :07:55. | :07:58.
low-key police presence but the protesters were politely informed | :07:58. | :08:02.
they were in contravention of an ancient city bylaw and if they did | :08:02. | :08:06.
not remove their tents they could be arrested. I have asked them to | :08:06. | :08:10.
move. I have spoken to representatives of the group and | :08:10. | :08:14.
they will make those representations as to the group. | :08:14. | :08:20.
Negotiations failed and the Group - - Group voted to stay put. They | :08:20. | :08:26.
hope to disperse the crowd piece fully. The rain is coming down. How | :08:26. | :08:31.
are things they? The rain has helped disperse many | :08:31. | :08:36.
of the protesters. Many upped and left when the rain came down. | :08:36. | :08:42.
Around 30 are here. Around half-an- hour a goat a council official came | :08:42. | :08:47.
and told them about the by a lot they were breaking. It is the 1875 | :08:47. | :08:52.
Public Health Act. If they are not allowed to camp on his property. At | :08:52. | :08:57.
the moment, the police are not doing that. The police are standing | :08:57. | :09:04.
to one side and they hope things The First Minister has insisted he | :09:04. | :09:07.
won't be negotiating in public with the opposition parties as he tries | :09:07. | :09:10.
to secure support for the Welsh Government's budget. Labour is | :09:10. | :09:13.
without a majority in the Assembly and the Conservatives, Plaid Cymru | :09:13. | :09:15.
and the Liberal Democrats have tabled a joint motion criticising | :09:16. | :09:25.
:09:26. | :09:26. | ||
Labour's spending decisions. We will keep on talking in good | :09:26. | :09:30.
faith to other parties. There is progress, there is work to be done | :09:30. | :09:36.
but we know this is the process that happens when we are | :09:36. | :09:40.
negotiating a budget. The important thing is sixth November. | :09:40. | :09:43.
An investigation by the Public Services Ombudsman into the conduct | :09:43. | :09:46.
of three Swansea councillors has been referred to South Wales Police. | :09:46. | :09:48.
They will now consider whether a criminal investigation will take | :09:48. | :09:51.
place. It has emerged that some schools on | :09:51. | :09:53.
Anglesey have had to pay more for their electricity because the | :09:53. | :09:57.
council failed to renew a contract. 15 schools paid a total 27,000 | :09:57. | :10:00.
more than they should have after they were switched to an emergency | :10:00. | :10:05.
tariff. Anglesey Council says a procurement problem was to blame | :10:05. | :10:10.
and the schools will be reimbursed from central funds. | :10:10. | :10:13.
Religious leaders in Wales have defended a growing tendency to hold | :10:13. | :10:18.
Sunday school on weekdays. The commitments of other activities on | :10:18. | :10:22.
a Sunday has led to the move. But it has not been welcomed by | :10:22. | :10:32.
:10:32. | :10:39. | ||
The children of his Baptist chapel in Lampeter and no different any | :10:39. | :10:42.
other difference Sunday-school except this is Friday afternoon. | :10:42. | :10:45.
Other activities on a Sunday has seen the Church squeezed out of | :10:45. | :10:53.
busy schedules. We rip be on a Sunday as well, it is either finish | :10:53. | :10:57.
with Sunday-school or bring it forward to a Friday. Some religious | :10:57. | :11:02.
leaders feel that Sunday-school loses its meaning. It it -- if it | :11:02. | :11:07.
isn't held on the 7th day. Sunday was made so that we could come | :11:08. | :11:12.
together as Christians, to be together, to worship together, to | :11:12. | :11:21.
learn and pray together. One day has been put to one side. | :11:21. | :11:25.
Church in Wales says it has to find ways to cater for youngsters in the | :11:25. | :11:30.
face of competing interests. Been on but if they feel it was an | :11:30. | :11:37.
inevitable move. Times have changed. We had to do on a Sunday when I was | :11:37. | :11:41.
young. But to a lot of families these days Sunday is no different | :11:41. | :11:47.
to any other day. Churches they are urging youth organisations to work | :11:47. | :11:51.
with them. Space is made in the diary for religion even if that is | :11:51. | :11:54.
on a weekday. We're now joined by the Right | :11:54. | :12:02.
Reverend Andrew John, the Bishop of Bangor. We head of some disquiet as | :12:02. | :12:06.
Sunday is a special day and is being devalued. | :12:06. | :12:11.
There are still many churches that are using Sundays very creatively | :12:11. | :12:15.
with all sorts of new services to attract children. We have to | :12:15. | :12:20.
compete with children's activities, good sport and good internet. Many | :12:20. | :12:26.
churches are responding to that. I would not want to limit children's | :12:26. | :12:30.
work to Sundays. If we need to run a messy church on a Sunday school | :12:30. | :12:34.
on a different day of the week, that seems to be an extremely good | :12:34. | :12:40.
idea. Does the Church needs to continually adapt to modern life? | :12:41. | :12:45.
It does need to be able to respond to what is happening in society. I | :12:45. | :12:49.
was in mid- Wales recently and saw a lot of children going to a | :12:49. | :12:54.
football competition and isn't there. The church and a situation | :12:54. | :12:57.
should support -- should support and get involved in that sort of | :12:57. | :13:04.
thing. We should not feel we are pushed to the margins. What would | :13:04. | :13:07.
you say to traditionalists who believe that Sunday-school should | :13:07. | :13:15.
be on a Sunday? I would want to welcome Sunday schools on a Sunday | :13:15. | :13:19.
but say if you can't manage the Sunday, go for one of the are the | :13:19. | :13:29.

days and make that the focus of all Still to come in the programme. | :13:32. | :13:39.
Aaron Ramsey says he has no regrets about wearing the Olympic top. And | :13:39. | :13:43.
the master of the macabre. Now a journey of discovery to find out if | :13:43. | :13:53.

Vincent Price had roots in Wales. Back to the events marking | :13:54. | :13:57.
Armistice Day and a newly restored War Memorial in the Rhymney Valley | :13:57. | :14:00.
was unveiled this morning. Volunteers in Aberbargoed, | :14:00. | :14:02.
including ex-servicemen and school children, have spent months | :14:02. | :14:04.
repairing the 91-year-old memorial, and building a new garden of | :14:04. | :14:13.
remembrance. Carwyn Jones has been following its progress. | :14:13. | :14:21.
It was a mixture of pride and relief. Volunteers, young and old, | :14:21. | :14:24.
had been working around the clock to ensure this memorial was ready | :14:24. | :14:29.
for armistice day, and it was. Finally, a place where the village | :14:29. | :14:35.
could come together to honour the fallen. But just one month ago, it | :14:35. | :14:39.
looked more like a building site than a place of remembrance. | :14:39. | :14:42.
Aberbargoed's war memorial dates back to 1920 but in recent years | :14:42. | :14:45.
the site had fallen into disrepair and was becoming unsafe for the | :14:45. | :14:55.
:14:55. | :14:55. | ||
public. Something had to be done. There had been youngsters hanging | :14:55. | :15:01.
around, drinking and whatever. It was very dark. There was no | :15:01. | :15:05.
sunlight. With Armistice Day fast approaching, the community set | :15:05. | :15:09.
about restoring the gates and the grounds. A building firm supplied | :15:09. | :15:12.
its workforce free of charge and local primary school children | :15:12. | :15:21.
braved the autumn rain to do the planting. We are planting to | :15:21. | :15:26.
remember the people at Fort in the wars and died for a our country. | :15:27. | :15:32.
Some people can come and sit down and enjoy the space. No stone was | :15:32. | :15:35.
left unturned. The centre piece of the memorial is this plaque, | :15:35. | :15:38.
salvaged from the local hospital just before it was demolished | :15:38. | :15:41.
earlier this year. With just 48 hours to go, there was plenty of | :15:41. | :15:45.
last minute work still to do, walls to be built, iron work to be | :15:45. | :15:49.
painted. But the hard work paid off. This is the newly restored war | :15:49. | :15:52.
memorial in Aberbargoed and this morning the community gathered here | :15:52. | :15:56.
for its Armistice service. It was a time to remember those who gave | :15:56. | :15:59.
their lives for freedom and a chance to thank the many volunteers | :15:59. | :16:07.
who made today's event possible. It is something for us to be proud | :16:07. | :16:15.
of and look forward to the future. There is a sense of pride today | :16:15. | :16:19.
that after months of hard work, the gardens are now restored and opened. | :16:19. | :16:27.
A fitting way for the committee to mark Armistice Day. -- community. | :16:27. | :16:32.
The sport now. Here's Ashleigh. Wales captain Aaron Ramsey says he | :16:32. | :16:35.
has no regrets over being photographed in a Team GB Olympic | :16:35. | :16:39.
kit. Speaking ahead of the friendly with Norway tomorrow, he's repeated | :16:39. | :16:44.
his desire to play at the Games in London next year. The FA of Wales | :16:44. | :16:48.
is still opposed to any of its players taking part. Here's Tomos | :16:48. | :16:52.
Dafydd. He's a man in the spotlight. Since posing in a Team GB football | :16:52. | :16:55.
shirt, Aaron Ramsey and Gareth Bale have been criticised by fans | :16:55. | :16:57.
worried a British Team could undermine Wales' footballing | :16:57. | :17:07.
:17:07. | :17:08. | ||
independence. But today, no regrets from Ramsey. Whatever I say about | :17:08. | :17:12.
the Olympics, I will get a reaction, whether it is positive or negative. | :17:12. | :17:18.
I have said what I have got to say about the Olympics. I do not want a | :17:18. | :17:25.
say anything else. I am contracted to the Adidas and I was doing a | :17:25. | :17:29.
shoot for them. He was hoping to focus on tomorrow's game against | :17:29. | :17:39.
:17:39. | :17:40. | ||
Norway, but the questions kept coming. I would like if we could | :17:40. | :17:48.
just leave the Olympics one now. We have a game tomorrow. The Wales | :17:48. | :17:51.
management says the controversy hasn't affected their preparation | :17:51. | :17:54.
for the friendly with Norway. Gary Speed, who's guided his side to | :17:54. | :17:57.
three wins in their last four games, says he's looking to build towards | :17:57. | :18:04.
the World Cup qualifiers starting next year. We have progressed. We | :18:04. | :18:10.
still have to improve in different areas. I feel that the commitment | :18:10. | :18:14.
on the application they have shown, the things that we have thrown at | :18:14. | :18:18.
them, they have taken it in their stride. I think there is a belief | :18:18. | :18:24.
on they can see that there is light at the end of the tunnel. So Wales | :18:24. | :18:27.
want to put an end to scrutiny surrounding its star players, but | :18:27. | :18:31.
it's not likely to go away soon. Some fans are planning to air | :18:31. | :18:36.
objections to a British Olympic Team known at the game tomorrow. | :18:36. | :18:40.
This has been a bit of a saga but at last, the directors of Wrexham | :18:40. | :18:43.
Football Club say they'll ask the FA to ratify the takeover by the | :18:43. | :18:46.
club's Supporters Trust after finally agreeing the details of the | :18:46. | :18:51.
deal. On the pitch, Wrexham hope to take their excellent league form | :18:51. | :18:54.
into the FA Cup tonight. The Blue Square Premier leaders are away at | :18:54. | :18:57.
one of their league promotion rivals Cambridge United. | :18:57. | :19:00.
There's live commentary on Radio Wales FM in the North from 7:45pm. | :19:01. | :19:03.
Tomorrow, Newport County have a tough start to their cup campaign | :19:03. | :19:08.
at home to League Two high-fliers Shrewsbury. | :19:08. | :19:10.
European club rugby makes a welcome return tonight when the Cardiff | :19:11. | :19:14.
Blues get this year's Heineken Cup underway. They've got a tough start | :19:14. | :19:18.
too, out in Paris against Racing Metro. But they do have Wales | :19:18. | :19:21.
captain Sam Warburton back after serving a three-week suspension for | :19:21. | :19:26.
that now infamous tip-tackle at the World Cup. The Ospreys and Scarlets | :19:26. | :19:29.
play tomorrow. Biarritz are the visitors to the Liberty Stadium | :19:29. | :19:33.
while the Scarlets welcome Castres. Fly-half Rhys Priestland is | :19:33. | :19:37.
expected to be fit for their opener. Of course, the Dragons are only in | :19:37. | :19:40.
the second tier Amlin Cup this season. They'll have their | :19:40. | :19:44.
internationals back for the trip to Italy to face Cavalieri Prato. | :19:44. | :19:47.
This weekend will be the first proper return to action for many of | :19:47. | :19:50.
Wales' World Cup squad and they're looking forward to getting back on | :19:50. | :19:57.
the pitch. We are just trying to settle as soon as possible. Last | :19:57. | :20:07.
:20:07. | :20:07. | ||
week was good. We got to do that. We have got plenty of training and | :20:07. | :20:16.
a our belt. It is good to be that. -- back. Plenty of drama on day two | :20:16. | :20:20.
of the Wales Rally GB. World title contender Mikko Hirvonen is out of | :20:20. | :20:23.
the running after a hidden branch damaged the engine of his Ford | :20:23. | :20:27.

the rally by just over a second. Boxing, and Welsh flyweight Andrew | :20:37. | :20:42.

Professional rugby league will continue in Wrexham next season | :21:00. | :21:03.
after a new club, North Wales Crusaders, were granted permission | :21:03. | :21:07.

weekend. Have a good one. Lucy. If your dad was the King of Horror, | :22:00. | :22:04.
how keen would you be to trace your family history? Well, that's | :22:04. | :22:07.
exactly what the daughter of legendary actor Vincent Price has | :22:07. | :22:11.
been doing in Aberystwyth. He who would have been 100 years old this | :22:11. | :22:14.
year and he always claimed the family had Welsh roots. Victoria | :22:14. | :22:17.
Price is the special guest at a horror festival being held in | :22:17. | :22:26.
Aberyswtyth. Cemlyn Davies reports. He thrilled and chilled in equal | :22:26. | :22:34.
measure. Vincent Price made his name starring in horror films. | :22:34. | :22:43.
think one of the things about horror films, the thriller, Gothic, | :22:43. | :22:50.
they do not date. This weekend, a number of films will be shown in | :22:50. | :22:54.
Aberystwyth as the 6th annual abattoir continues. His daughter | :22:54. | :23:02.
Victoria will meet fans and answer questions. He was not scary at all. | :23:02. | :23:06.
He was very funny, loving. He was someone who just loved life. He | :23:06. | :23:15.
loved getting up in the morning and seeing what he could learn. One of | :23:15. | :23:20.
Vincent Price's most memorable contributions came in Michael | :23:21. | :23:25.
Jackson's thriller video. As long as there is a Hallowe'en in America, | :23:25. | :23:32.
and in the UK, there will be a thriller and my father a's laugh | :23:32. | :23:40.
will be heard for ever. Vincent Price world -- was born in Wales. | :23:40. | :23:48.
Victoria has been doing some digging. She was the one born in | :23:48. | :23:52.
Broad Haven. Victoria's mother came from Pembrokeshire. There is plenty | :23:52. | :23:56.
of information about her side of the family. Researching the Vincent | :23:56. | :24:02.
Price connection to Wales has been less straightforward. My great | :24:02. | :24:08.
great grandfather, Daniel Price, was born in New York. I have to go | :24:08. | :24:13.
back to the United States and keep trying. Family history has become | :24:13. | :24:19.
more and more popular. More and more people are finding an | :24:19. | :24:23.
interesting finding of their past. I think a lot of people, that is | :24:23. | :24:29.
down to the various programmes that there are on television. For now, | :24:29. | :24:33.
Victoria's research will have to wait. She is preparing to take part | :24:33. | :24:41.
in a special tribute to the king of Time now for the weather forecast. | :24:41. | :24:48.
Nor horror stories! Lots of rain. Still very much for | :24:48. | :24:54.
the time of year. Plenty of rain in Cardiff. It is wet across much of | :24:54. | :24:58.
Wales this evening. Some heavy downpours across parts of Anglesey | :24:58. | :25:03.
and the Lleyn Peninsula. This is the radar picture showing the | :25:03. | :25:11.
extent of the rain earlier. This evening, Clearing North and | :25:11. | :25:16.
eastwards through the night. We may see some clear conditions | :25:16. | :25:19.
developing. Some coastal showers which could be heavy and thundery | :25:19. | :25:24.
at times. For the majority, it should be dries evening. Overnight | :25:24. | :25:27.
temperatures down as low a seven Celsius. A little bit colder than | :25:28. | :25:34.
recent nights. But milder on the coast. This is the pressure charge | :25:34. | :25:39.
for tomorrow. High pressure building. It is going to be a | :25:39. | :25:43.
fairly settled weekend. First thing tomorrow, some scattered coastal | :25:43. | :25:47.
showers which will fizzle out quite quickly and we will see the weather | :25:47. | :25:54.
stabilising as we go into the afternoon, thanks to high pressure. | :25:54. | :25:57.
It will feel pleasant in the sunshine. Top temperature of 15 | :25:57. | :26:01.
Celsius. Great news if you are planning any outdoor activities. | :26:01. | :26:05.

Some fog and mist forming. But it is a mild night. Windy on Sunday. | :26:25. | :26:31.
But it will be cloudy at first. We will see brighter conditions coming | :26:32. | :26:39.
through. The situation improving as we go through the day. Not much to | :26:39. | :26:42.
be complaining about. Looking good for Saturday and Sunday, not too | :26:42. | :26:46.
bad as we going to early next week. Some Sunny spells on Monday and | :26:46. | :26:56.

Tuesday. Not looking too bad at all. Today's picture is from Ian Francis. | :27:00. | :27:08.
Thank you very much. A reminder of our main story from | :27:08. | :27:13.
the BBC. Across the UK, people have stopped to remember those who have | :27:13. | :27:22.
died in wars. 93 years ago, the guns fell silent | :27:22. | :27:26.
on the Western Front, bringing the First World War to one end. Events | :27:26. | :27:32. |
