Good afternoon. An investigation is under way after a fire at a block

of flats in rill. 13 people were evacuated in the early hours of

this morn at the property in Water Street. Some of the people were

treat for smoke inhalation, but there were no serious injuries.

Formal identification of a body recovered from the Menai Strait has

been taking place today. Coastguards found the body, thought

to be of a man in his 40s, on Christmas Day close to Caernarfon

Castle. Police are investigating but say there are no suspicious

circumstances. A new information service has been

launched aimed at keeping walkers safe in Snowdonia over the festive

period. The National Park is using twit tore give people up to date

information before they set out. Matt Murray reports. Making the

most of the stunning scenery. At this time of year the mountains

around Snowdonia are popular with walkers, but conditions are

deceptive and everchanging on high ground, especially when snow thaws

and refreezes. Now the National Park has a new service which will

constantly update walkers with the latest conditions, which they can

access from Twitter. If there is no snow or ice on the mountain, we

report it to the Met Office and it goes to Twitter. On a day like

today it doesn't look look like there is snow on the mountain, but

there is, and we'll see people trying to go up there without an

ice axe or crampons. It is important that people do the

research, see there is snow on the mountain and perhaps come equipped.

Last week the dangers of the landscape around Snowdonia was

tragically highlighted, when a 36- year-old man died after falling 500

feet off this mountain. The snow he had been walking on gave way and

caused an avalanche. The rescue teams have welcomed the new system

and says thorough research on the conditions will make their jobs

easier in future. In the Championship, Cardiff City

gained a point after coming from behind to draw at Watford.

Wrexham stay top of the Blue Square and Newport County was postponed

due to a waterlogged pitch. Rugby. The Scarlets came out in top

against the Ospreys. They won the Pro12 clash by 22-14.

Going into today's west Wales Derby the momentum was with the Ospreys.

They were flaig a side in the Scarlets they hadn't lost to in

their previous meetings. After early penalties from both sides the

first try of the match came from an unlikely sours. Rhys Thomas

charging over after half an hour. The boots of Rhys Priestland kept

the scoreboard tick over for the home side. In the second half full-

back Barry Davies brought the Ospreys back into contention, but

the chance was missed to bring the scores level.

A worrying moment for the Ospreys and Wales with the Six Nations in

mind was the injury suffered by Adam Jones, which saw the prop

replaced with 15 minutes left. A fine afternoon with the boot

continued for Priestland. His penalties proved the difference to

send most of the sellout crowd home happy.

Over 650 people have made this year's traditional Boxing Day swim

in Tenby a record-breaker. It it was 41st time the event has been

held and it attracted plenty of bathers in fancy dress, with

thousands of pounds being raised for charity.

The turnout in Tenby was helped by the mild Boxing Day temperatures.
