Welcome to Wales Today. Our top story: Pulling the plug. Anglesey's | :00:13. | :00:16.
new nuclear power station in doubt after two energy giants walk away. | :00:16. | :00:19.
What now for the thousands of jobs promised? The nuclear accident in | :00:19. | :00:29.

Japan, along with the global Our other headlines tonight: | :00:35. | :00:38.
Queuing for fuel again. The First Minister accuses the UK Government | :00:38. | :00:48.
of stoking up the crisis, and he's not the only one. It is absolutely | :00:48. | :00:53.
a crazy thing to say. He tortured a pensioner for her | :00:54. | :00:58.
bank details and then withdrew her money. Now, he's sentenced to life. | :00:58. | :01:02.
The first clergyman in Wales to resign over the gay marriage debate. | :01:02. | :01:06.
And from rescue to racehorse. The remarkable turnaround of the foal | :01:06. | :01:13.
left neglected in a field Good evening. Two energy companies | :01:13. | :01:20.
have shelved plans to build a new nuclear power station on Anglesey. | :01:20. | :01:23.
RWE n-power and E.ON had been due to work together on the 8 billion | :01:23. | :01:28.
Wylfa B project, which was expected to create thousands of jobs. Both | :01:28. | :01:30.
the Welsh and UK Governments say they're disappointed. Our | :01:30. | :01:40.
:01:40. | :01:44. | ||
Environment Correspondent, Iolo ap Dafydd, is at Wylfa for us tonight. | :01:45. | :01:50.
Did evening. That is well that's ageing power plant behind me and | :01:50. | :01:54.
the new plant was meant to be built in these fields beside it. That now | :01:54. | :01:59.
is in jeopardy. At the very time when we were expecting a | :01:59. | :02:04.
significant announcement on which type of reactors would be built in | :02:04. | :02:13.
Wylfa B. 1965 and the building of will by nuclear power station on | :02:13. | :02:18.
Anglesey. During the past few years, there has been hope that an even | :02:18. | :02:22.
larger construction project could lead to Wylfa B. But the | :02:22. | :02:25.
announcement by two of Britain's largest gas and villages of the | :02:25. | :02:29.
companies has been unexpected. Up until this morning, this would have | :02:29. | :02:38.
been the site. But that for the time being is in jeopardy as both | :02:38. | :02:44.
RWE n-power and E.ON say they are shelving their nuclear plants for | :02:45. | :02:48.
economic and financial reasons. Over the last few years, the | :02:48. | :02:52.
environment in which the operator has changed. We have less financial | :02:52. | :03:00.
firepower. That is driven by the global recession. Electricity and | :03:00. | :03:09.
gas prices in continental Europe. Those combination of factors has | :03:09. | :03:13.
reduced the firepower of E.ON. We have to focus our investment. | :03:13. | :03:17.
UK Government and the Welsh government are backing a second | :03:17. | :03:20.
nuclear power station on Anglesey, especially with the expectation of | :03:20. | :03:25.
thousands of new jobs. It is something that I will not give up | :03:25. | :03:35.
:03:35. | :03:35. | ||
pressing for. I was a firm supporter when I was in opposition. | :03:35. | :03:38.
People in Anglesey and workers within that industry can rest | :03:38. | :03:43.
assured that I will continue to pursue every opportunity. But not | :03:43. | :03:49.
everybody will be dismayed by today's events. A local protest | :03:49. | :03:53.
group save more and more Anglesey residents questioned the safety and | :03:53. | :03:58.
viability of nuclear power. It is no surprise at all. We have heard | :03:59. | :04:06.
rumours for many months that the economic case for Wylfa B was shaky | :04:06. | :04:11.
to say the least. The days of the current power station are numbered. | :04:11. | :04:14.
The UK Government says Britain needs energy from renewable and | :04:14. | :04:18.
other sources but the backdrop to today's announcement comes after | :04:18. | :04:24.
last year's Tsunami in Japan. The nuclear fall-out has cast a long | :04:24. | :04:28.
shadow. The German government was the first to turn its back on new | :04:28. | :04:33.
nuclear power and the two German- based companies, RWE n-power and | :04:33. | :04:39.
E.ON, had extra decommissioning costs after that decision. Now, | :04:39. | :04:47.
Wales is also affected. So what does this mean for the | :04:47. | :04:50.
people of Anglesey? Whether you back it or not, nuclear power has | :04:50. | :04:53.
become a vital part of the island's economy. Matthew Richards looks at | :04:53. | :04:57.
the local impact of the announcement. | :04:57. | :05:00.
Today, Anglesey is counting the cost of losing out on such a major | :05:00. | :05:04.
investment. The Wylfa B project would have cost 8 billion. 5,000 | :05:04. | :05:06.
construction jobs would have been created and between 800 and 1,000 | :05:06. | :05:09.
people would have worked there. With construction underway later | :05:09. | :05:18.
this year, the site was expected to be operational in 2025. It is a | :05:18. | :05:23.
huge knock. What we have to do now is pull-out all the stops. I know | :05:23. | :05:27.
there was government is asking that the UK Government gives them extra | :05:27. | :05:31.
help after this decision. This is not just about jobs and Anglesey, | :05:31. | :05:36.
it is about jobs in north-west Wales. The search is on now for a | :05:36. | :05:42.
new energy company to step in. is hoped that the new company can | :05:42. | :05:49.
take on the project. We have to work together to try and persuade | :05:49. | :05:53.
another company to take over this very important project for the | :05:53. | :05:56.
economy of Anglesey. In Cemaes, the small village which has become | :05:56. | :05:59.
inextricably linked with Wylfa, there was a mixed reaction to the | :05:59. | :06:03.
news that nuclear energy production could be reaching an end. It is not | :06:04. | :06:07.
that I don't want a second power station, I don't want a nuclear | :06:07. | :06:13.
power station. Without it, this is area is no more because there is | :06:13. | :06:20.
not much else going on here. ripple effect reaches far beyond | :06:20. | :06:22.
Cemaes. Coleg Menai's 6 million National Skills Academy has been | :06:22. | :06:25.
built to provide training for the nuclear workers of the future. | :06:25. | :06:27.
Before today's announcement, the principal explained how it's | :06:27. | :06:30.
preparing students. We must be responsive in terms of making sure | :06:30. | :06:34.
the population is scaled up to take those opportunities on board to | :06:34. | :06:39.
alleviate any influx of workforce. Students will now have to wait to | :06:39. | :06:49.
:06:49. | :06:49. | ||
see if they'll get an opportunity to use those skills on Anglesey. | :06:49. | :06:53.
Let's talk to Sasha Davies from the energy programme. How feasible is | :06:53. | :06:58.
it now to get a nuclear build here? We are confident there will be | :06:58. | :07:02.
built here. We are working with the UK Government and we understand | :07:02. | :07:06.
there is some serious interest. Where will the new investment come | :07:06. | :07:09.
from and how many different companies are there who could | :07:09. | :07:13.
possibly take on such a large scheme? Anglesey County Council | :07:13. | :07:17.
caught at some other serious developers five years ago. That | :07:17. | :07:21.
interest will still be there and we are guaranteed that through the UK | :07:21. | :07:25.
Government. We are talking about two of the biggest utility | :07:25. | :07:30.
companies in the world. What makes you think that other consortiums | :07:31. | :07:37.
can afford it? And those two companies took a difficult decision. | :07:37. | :07:41.
They did not have the financial backing to take this forward. There | :07:41. | :07:44.
is a big world out there and there are some major companies that do | :07:44. | :07:51.
have the financial backing. This blows a hole in your concept. | :07:51. | :07:55.
disappointing but the programme is now more important than ever. We | :07:55. | :07:59.
have to work with the UK and was governments to take this forward. | :07:59. | :08:09.
:08:09. | :08:11. | ||
Do you think you put all your eggs in one basket? Absolutely not. The | :08:11. | :08:14.
benefits are still going to be positive in respect of the number | :08:14. | :08:22.
of jobs. Still that positive message which we have heard all day | :08:22. | :08:27.
but really this has been a day of such bad news for the island and | :08:28. | :08:34.
for the nuclear industry. Earlier, I spoke to Malcolm | :08:34. | :08:36.
Grimston, a nuclear energy expert from Imperial College London. I | :08:36. | :08:39.
began by asking him for his take on why the energy companies have | :08:39. | :08:49.
:08:49. | :08:51. | ||
pulled out. Because of the decision in Germany to pull out of nuclear | :08:51. | :08:55.
power stations, RWE n-power and E.ON don't have as much cash as | :08:55. | :09:02.
they were expecting before the Fukushima accident. Investment and | :09:02. | :09:04.
borrowing to invest is very difficult globally at the moment as | :09:04. | :09:07.
well so they have taken a decision that the risks involved are too big | :09:07. | :09:13.
for the moment. Anglesey still insists it is an ideal location for | :09:13. | :09:18.
this kind of nuclear development. Is it really? It has got the | :09:18. | :09:23.
nuclear expertise and all of the wires to the existing plant which | :09:23. | :09:26.
will come off line in the next year or so. A lot of the background that | :09:26. | :09:35.
is required for a nuclear station is already in place. The community | :09:35. | :09:38.
and look love for it here very supportive as well. Even if there | :09:38. | :09:42.
is a nuclear plant, this announcement today means there's | :09:42. | :09:49.
going to be some substantial delay. That is inevitable. They may just | :09:49. | :09:55.
be another company -- there may just be another company who will | :09:55. | :09:59.
take an interest in taking over the project but they would need to | :09:59. | :10:03.
check their own finances and get to understand how far horizon had got. | :10:03. | :10:09.
That cannot be done overnight. We are looking at a delay of maybe two | :10:09. | :10:13.
or three years and potentially longer than that. Who do you think | :10:13. | :10:17.
is the likely new owner of this plant? It would need to be a | :10:17. | :10:20.
company which has not been affected by the German decision and which | :10:20. | :10:28.
has deep enough pockets and it might be a collection of pocket -- | :10:28. | :10:38.
:10:38. | :10:41. | ||
companies. Many companies thinking of doing this would have to look at | :10:41. | :10:45.
the issue very carefully. -- any companies. | :10:45. | :10:47.
The First Minister has accused the UK Government of behaving | :10:47. | :10:50.
irresponsibly after it advised motorists to top up their tanks. | :10:50. | :10:53.
Carwyn Jones said ministers in London needed to calm down. Across | :10:53. | :10:55.
the country, garages have been running short on fuel amid fears | :10:55. | :11:02.
tanker drivers could go on strike. Cemlyn Davies reports. | :11:02. | :11:10.
A tanker delivers fuel to a Cardiff supermarket. Across the country, | :11:10. | :11:15.
fuel levels are falling as forecourts fill up. It's a worrying | :11:15. | :11:18.
time for Mel Evans who runs a bus company from his depot above | :11:18. | :11:28.
Penrhyncoch in Ceredigion. My main concern is with the touring side of | :11:28. | :11:34.
the injury. A coach goes away here with a tankful of diesel and it | :11:34. | :11:40.
needs refuelling Wireless away. I main concern is that we have a | :11:40. | :11:43.
coach full of 50 people step on the side of the road or somewhere where | :11:43. | :11:47.
they can get home. In the valley below, there was anger at advice | :11:47. | :11:52.
from UK ministers for drivers to top up. I understand people filling | :11:52. | :11:59.
up their cars because the minute somebody starts queueing, everyone | :11:59. | :12:06.
is obliged to do the same. It was a crazy thing to say. Everybody is | :12:06. | :12:14.
reaching for fuel and grabbing everything they can. There are a | :12:14. | :12:18.
lot of old age pensioners out there who cannot afford it. The UK | :12:18. | :12:21.
Government denies it's to blame for any panic buying and says Unite is | :12:21. | :12:23.
behaving irresponsibly by threatening to strike over work | :12:23. | :12:31.
conditions. Earlier, Carwyn Jones, a Unite member himself, had his say. | :12:31. | :12:34.
All this has been stoked up irresponsibly by the UK Government | :12:34. | :12:39.
ministers. It has to stop. This is something that does not have to | :12:39. | :12:44.
happen and certainly I would advise the UK Government to calm down and | :12:44. | :12:49.
start saying to people, there is no issue here, there is a problem. | :12:49. | :12:52.
strike dates have been set and the Unite Union will give seven days | :12:52. | :12:54.
notice ahead of any industrial action. | :12:54. | :12:57.
A taxi driver has appeared in court following a road accident in the | :12:57. | :12:59.
centre of Cardiff, which left eight people injured. 28-year-old Majid | :12:59. | :13:02.
Rehman was arrested after the collision on Wood Street on Tuesday | :13:02. | :13:05.
and has been charged with one count of inflicting grievous bodily harm | :13:05. | :13:08.
with intent, and seven counts of attempting to inflict grievous | :13:08. | :13:16.
bodily harm. "A brutal and heartless murder". | :13:16. | :13:20.
The words of a judge to John Mason, convicted of beating his mother's | :13:20. | :13:23.
neighbour to death in cold blood. He'd conned his way into Angelika | :13:23. | :13:25.
Dries-Jenkins' house in Narberth, stole her bank card then spent her | :13:25. | :13:29.
money. He's been jailed for at least 30 years. Rhodri Lewis was in | :13:29. | :13:38.
court. Minutes after John Mason was jailed, | :13:38. | :13:46.
Angelika Dries Jenkins' family left the court with this reaction. | :13:46. | :13:50.
Mason, the person responsible for this cowardly act of violence, has | :13:50. | :13:56.
been prevented from inflicting such suffering on any of individual or | :13:56. | :14:01.
family. John Mason has through his actions made victims not only of a | :14:01. | :14:05.
mother and a family but of those in the wider community. Angelika | :14:05. | :14:08.
Dries-Jenkins had lived quietly in Narberth for most of her life. But | :14:08. | :14:11.
on June 1st last year, John Mason knocked her door. His mother lived | :14:11. | :14:15.
next door, and he conned his way into her house. He then tortured | :14:15. | :14:18.
her to reveal her PIN number before beating her to death with a blunt | :14:18. | :14:24.
instrument. Though his victim knew him, he was then caught on CCTV in | :14:24. | :14:27.
Whitland and Narberth using her bank card to steal money from her | :14:27. | :14:30.
account. Other shots show him wearing a high visibility jacket | :14:30. | :14:36.
which he often did to give himself an air of "status". After the | :14:36. | :14:39.
murder, he dumped a jumper in Haverfordwest which had both his | :14:39. | :14:44.
DNA and that of Mrs Dries-Jenkins on it. After the conviction, the | :14:44. | :14:47.
jury was told Mason was guilty of a series of offences stretching back | :14:47. | :14:50.
nearly 30 years. At the time of the murder, he was already | :14:50. | :14:53.
electronically tagged and under curfew for threatening to kill his | :14:53. | :14:56.
fiance. The judge told him you are guilty of a brutal and heartless | :14:56. | :14:59.
murder. You killed a kind and gentle woman in her own home to | :14:59. | :15:04.
steal the money and then spent that money and went about a business | :15:04. | :15:06.
without a care in the world. You must realise you will probably | :15:07. | :15:10.
spend the rest of your life in prison. | :15:10. | :15:19.
Much more to come before 7:00pm: Our newest choir conquers Russia. | :15:19. | :15:29.
:15:29. | :15:29. | ||
Next, it's the home crowd for Only A vicar from Monmouthshire has | :15:29. | :15:33.
become the first clergyman in Wales, to step down over the issue of gay | :15:33. | :15:36.
marriage. Speaking exclusively to BBC Wales, Reverend Andrew Morton | :15:36. | :15:38.
says that some members of the Anglican communion, including | :15:38. | :15:41.
elements of the Church in Wales, have become increasingly homophobic. | :15:41. | :15:51.
:15:51. | :15:54. | ||
Jordan Davies reports. Reverend Andrew Morton has been a | :15:54. | :15:58.
church in the us to care for 33 years. He has looked after the | :15:58. | :16:03.
pastoral needs of the people here for close to 20 of them. Now he is | :16:03. | :16:08.
the first clergyman in Wales to resign over what he says is the | :16:08. | :16:13.
Church's judgmental attitude towards gay marriage. I feel a | :16:13. | :16:22.
degree of homophobia. I felt that in order to offer an authentic | :16:22. | :16:27.
critique of the Church as an institution, it was the most | :16:27. | :16:31.
honourable thing to do it from the outside. Seven years ago, the | :16:31. | :16:35.
cameras flocked to capture the first civil partnerships which give | :16:35. | :16:39.
gay couples similar rights to married couples. Now, the UK | :16:39. | :16:44.
Government is consulting on whether to allow same-sex couples to make | :16:44. | :16:50.
vows and marry in civil ceremonies. Andrew Knight is the figure in | :16:50. | :16:56.
Swansea, he disagrees with same-sex marriages. The New Testament says | :16:56. | :17:00.
that the relationship between two people of the same sex is not | :17:00. | :17:04.
something good. There are several references that are all fairly | :17:04. | :17:10.
critical. So, without wanting to be judgmental or difficult, we find | :17:10. | :17:16.
that we cannot bless what God does not say is good. But Reverend | :17:16. | :17:20.
Andrew Morton says he would have conducted full ceremonies for gay | :17:20. | :17:26.
couples and says he is not alone. Privately, there are an awful lot | :17:26. | :17:33.
of people who agree with at least part of the stance that I am making. | :17:33. | :17:37.
The Church in Wales says it follows the Christian doctrine of marriage | :17:37. | :17:42.
as the union between a man and woman but that it is committed to | :17:42. | :17:47.
prayer for reflection on same-sex relationships. Reverend Andrew | :17:47. | :17:50.
Morton is now contemplating a future outside the church but still | :17:50. | :18:00.
:18:00. | :18:05. | ||
playing a part in one of the most contentious issues it faces. | :18:06. | :18:08.
More than a hundred campaigners have been demonstrating outside | :18:08. | :18:10.
Withybush Hospital in Haverfordwest over proposals to reform healthcare. | :18:10. | :18:12.
Protestors fear that essential emergency and surgical care will be | :18:13. | :18:15.
taken away. Managers insist they are investing in the hospital, and | :18:15. | :18:17.
no decisions have been made. A Welsh language translation | :18:18. | :18:20.
helpline for businesses has been funded for another year. BBC Wales | :18:20. | :18:23.
revealed today that the Linkline to Welsh Helpline was due to be | :18:23. | :18:26.
withdrawn tomorrow. It helps firms like this new cafe on Anglesey | :18:26. | :18:28.
translate its signage into Welsh. The Welsh Government has awarded | :18:29. | :18:36.
the helpline 35,000. Three years ago, Only Men Aloud | :18:36. | :18:39.
topped the charts. Last weekend, it was the Boys wowing judges on | :18:39. | :18:42.
Britain's Got Talent. Now, Only Kids Aloud are taking to the stage. | :18:42. | :18:52.
:18:52. | :18:54. | ||
Lucy Rogers joined them at a rehearsal in Aberystwyth. | :18:54. | :18:58.
A music lesson with a difference. For these children, when they just | :18:58. | :19:08.
:19:08. | :19:12. | ||
want to us -- don't want to end. There are between 9 and 13 years | :19:12. | :19:15.
old, hand picked from hundreds, brought together by the Wales | :19:15. | :19:21.
Millennium Centre and the man behind Only Men Aloud. Last year, | :19:21. | :19:29.
we auditioned across Wales and we found 85 kids from a variety of | :19:29. | :19:35.
backgrounds and a variety of standpoints of musical training. | :19:35. | :19:45.
am from Anglesey. I am 12 years old. I am 11 years old and will have 10 | :19:45. | :19:50.
minutes from here. Everybody is nervous when they go on stage but | :19:50. | :19:57.
the thrill of going on the stage is worth it. I started singing when I | :19:57. | :20:03.
was four years old. I could sing before I could talk. I was in | :20:03. | :20:09.
school, ready to play hockey and my mum came up with the headmaster and | :20:09. | :20:16.
I thought, what have I done now? Then they told me I was through to | :20:16. | :20:21.
Only Kids Aloud. Last weekend, they travelled to Russia, performing at | :20:21. | :20:29.
the world-famous theatre alongside an opera and an orchestra. On | :20:29. | :20:36.
Sunday, Only Kids Aloud will perform at the Wales Millennium | :20:36. | :20:42.
Centre. Now, an equine rags to riches story | :20:42. | :20:45.
for a young foal that had a very unpromising start. Charity Rainbow | :20:45. | :20:48.
was rescued, starving and neglected, from a muddy field in South Wales. | :20:48. | :20:51.
One of her siblings was already dead. But four years on, she's been | :20:51. | :20:54.
nursed back to health by a Welsh animal sanctuary and proved so fit | :20:54. | :20:57.
that she's now started competing as a racehorse. Nick Palit reports. | :20:57. | :21:01.
Ladies Day at Taunton. The going's good to firm, the hats big and bold | :21:01. | :21:04.
and the expectations high. For this lady in particular, it's another | :21:04. | :21:09.
remarkable chapter in a story that began so tragically. Charity | :21:09. | :21:12.
Rainbow was one of five foals rescued with its mother from a | :21:12. | :21:15.
field in Abergavenny by the Monmouth based Society for the | :21:15. | :21:25.
:21:25. | :21:27. | ||
Welfare of Horses and Ponies. they found her, we called the RSPCA | :21:28. | :21:33.
and got them to persuade the owners of the animals to sign them over to | :21:33. | :21:41.
us before any more died. One had already That was four years ago. | :21:41. | :21:43.
Jenny McGregor realised that despite their atrocious state, they | :21:43. | :21:45.
were thoroughbred racehorses and was determined that at least one | :21:45. | :21:49.
would fulfill its potential and experience life at the racetrack. | :21:49. | :21:53.
I'll always said I would love it if one of them could be on a | :21:53. | :21:57.
racecourse. It was a dream I never thought would come to fruition. I | :21:57. | :22:02.
am very excited. 12 people across South Wales formed a syndicate to | :22:02. | :22:05.
pay for her upkeep and training and here at Taunton is the culmination | :22:05. | :22:09.
of all that hard work as they came to watch her race for the first | :22:09. | :22:17.
time yesterday. It is fantastic that she has got to a racecourse. | :22:17. | :22:24.
We hope she enjoys herself. Jenny worked magnificently to get this | :22:24. | :22:31.
send to get it would it is. My son and I bought shares and here we are. | :22:32. | :22:34.
Charity Rainbow has been nurtured by the renowned trainer Brendon | :22:34. | :22:37.
Powell at his stables in Berkshire. He says she has potential. She has | :22:37. | :22:45.
plenty of speed. I think she will run a nice rest -- race. 5:10pm and | :22:45. | :22:48.
the last race of the day. It's a nail-biting five minutes for this | :22:49. | :22:57.
South Wales syndicate. At times, they can hardly bare to watch. So | :22:57. | :23:02.
she was placed fifth, but she didn't disgrace herself either. | :23:02. | :23:11.
was quite tough for her but she tried her hardest. She has not | :23:11. | :23:16.
really got tired, she did not stop galloping. I definitely think she's | :23:16. | :23:21.
worth another run. For Charity Rainbow, a drink and a cold shower | :23:21. | :23:24.
after the exertion of the day. Whatever her future holds as a | :23:24. | :23:26.
racehorse, by just managing to survive those early months of | :23:26. | :23:30.
neglect, she's already proved she's a winner. | :23:30. | :23:33.
Now before the weather, take a look at these dramatic pictures. | :23:33. | :23:35.
Scientists at Aberystwyth University have discovered a group | :23:35. | :23:38.
of solar tornados, wider than the Earth, on the face of the sun. It's | :23:38. | :23:41.
believed to be the first time images like these have ever been | :23:41. | :23:44.
filmed. The hot gases in these tornadoes are travelling at more | :23:44. | :23:52.
than 180,000 miles per hour. It's been another scorcher for most | :23:52. | :23:56.
of us today and Derek, some record breaking temperatures. | :23:56. | :24:01.
Yes, Jamie. Records were broken in Powys yesterday and today in | :24:01. | :24:04.
Cardiff. 21C was recorded at Bute Park. We think this is a new record | :24:04. | :24:08.
for March in Cardiff. 21C is 70 Fahrenheit. Warmer than Ibiza, | :24:08. | :24:18.
:24:18. | :24:19. | ||
Now I know some of you are worried that this might be our summer. | :24:20. | :24:23.
Hopefully that won't be the case and this is a taster of things to | :24:23. | :24:32.
come. Mind you, there is a change on the way. It's not going to stay | :24:32. | :24:35.
as nice as this over the weekend but for gardeners and farmers | :24:35. | :24:38.
hoping for a drop of rain, I can't promise much if any, although a few | :24:38. | :24:41.
showers are expected next week. Tonight will be dry. The sky clear. | :24:41. | :24:45.
However, low cloud and mist in the Irish Sea will spread into northern | :24:45. | :24:48.
and western counties. Where the sky remains clear, it will turn chilly | :24:48. | :24:50.
with ground frost. Tomorrow's chart shows high pressure parked to the | :24:50. | :24:53.
west of Ireland and that means north-westerly winds for the UK. So | :24:53. | :24:56.
tomorrow, mixed fortunes compared to today. Sunshine in the south. | :24:56. | :24:59.
The north and west will be cool, grey and misty. The odd spot of | :24:59. | :25:02.
drizzle but otherwise dry. During the day, more of the country will | :25:02. | :25:05.
brighten-up but parts of the north and west, especially coasts, will | :25:05. | :25:08.
stay cloudy. A huge difference in temperature. Warmest in the south- | :25:08. | :25:11.
east but much cooler on the north and west coast with a breeze off | :25:11. | :25:14.
the sea In Neath Port Talbot tomorrow, another fine, sunny day. | :25:14. | :25:18.
Temperatures in Seven Sisters rising to 17C Celsius. As for the | :25:18. | :25:20.
weekend, Saturday much cloudier and cooler everywhere. A little light | :25:20. | :25:23.
rain or drizzle in places but otherwise dry. Sunday should be | :25:23. | :25:25.
better. Dry and settled. Brighter too. Some sunshine. Temperatures | :25:25. | :25:33.
10C to 13C with light winds. Next week, cooler with a mixture of | :25:33. | :25:36.
sunny spells. A few April showers and cold enough at night for some | :25:36. | :25:46.
:25:46. | :25:57. | ||
and cold enough at night for some frost. | :25:57. | :26:05.
Our top story. To energy companies have shelved plans to build a power | :26:05. | :26:12.
station on Anglesey. Existing -- it was expected to create thousands of | :26:12. | :26:17.
jobs. Tomorrow, we will be marking the | :26:17. | :26:21.
30th anniversary of the Falklands war. We hear how it changed the | :26:22. | :26:26.
lives of those who fought and those they left behind at home. A warning | :26:26. | :26:30.
of flash photography in this footage. They came home to a hero's | :26:31. | :26:37.
welcome, the Royal Marines who defended the Falklands against the | :26:37. | :26:45.
Argentine invasion. Among them was Keith Mills from Anglesey. He and | :26:45. | :26:50.
his men resisted for five hours. was not in my personal nature to | :26:50. | :26:56.
give up without a fight. Above all else, I was very proud to be | :26:56. | :27:01.
British. I felt we were being bullied by these people. I was not | :27:01. | :27:05.
going to stand for it. They were not going to be allowed to come and | :27:05. | :27:10.
blow up the Union flag without any resistance. We're here Keith's | :27:10. | :27:14.
story tomorrow and next week, we have special reports including the | :27:14. | :27:19.
story of the Welsh Guards. Welsh Guards were lining the decks | :27:19. | :27:28.
of the Q E two. 30 years on, will capture with Darren Clifton, the | :27:28. | :27:32. |
