government standards for disabled access. Calls from people like | :00:51. | :00:55.

I good evening. The Wales and Sheffield United footballer Ched | :01:15. | :01:18.
Evans has been jailed for five years after being found guilty of | :01:18. | :01:23.
rape. In a highly dramatic end to war week-long trial, his co- | :01:23. | :01:27.
defendant, Port Vale player Clayton Macdonald, was cleared of the same | :01:27. | :01:31.
charge after an incident at a hotel in Denbighshire last May. Aled | :01:31. | :01:36.
Hughes is at Caernarfon Crown Court tonight. Allott. | :01:36. | :01:40.
Well, Lucy, highly charged emotional scenes in the caught | :01:40. | :01:44.
behind me here this afternoon and the story is the tragic mix-up the | :01:44. | :01:47.
young woman, too much alcohol, a successful footballer, and a case | :01:48. | :01:53.
with no winners. Ched Evans has had his best | :01:53. | :01:57.
professional career to date this season, scoring 35 goals for | :01:57. | :02:00.
Sheffield United. It all came crashing down shortly after 3pm | :02:00. | :02:06.
this afternoon. Evans's family left court knowing he has a cupboard -- | :02:06. | :02:09.
convicted rapist, a decision the jury made in just under five hours, | :02:09. | :02:12.
which left Evans sobbing uncontrollably in the dock, and | :02:12. | :02:16.
that his family beyond themselves. His co-defendant, Port Vale | :02:16. | :02:21.
defender Clayton Macdonald, left the court of three -- a free man 11 | :02:21. | :02:26.
months after night out in Rhyl that changed lives forever. There were | :02:26. | :02:29.
dramatic scenes when the jury returned with the verdict. Ched | :02:29. | :02:33.
Evans's family had to learn to walk -- wait to learn his fate while | :02:33. | :02:37.
Clayton Macdonald's family's elations build over when they heard | :02:37. | :02:40.
the verdict. The jury heard how the woman and defendants had been | :02:40. | :02:44.
drinking at this club until her leap on the morning of May 30th | :02:44. | :02:48.
last year, but it is what happened afterwards is central to the | :02:48. | :02:51.
decision of the jury. Clayton Macdonald took a taxi with the | :02:51. | :02:56.
woman to win 14 of this hotel near by. Firstly he saw associates of | :02:56. | :02:59.
Ched Evans trying to film him through the window before realising | :02:59. | :03:02.
Evans had come into the room. The prosecution said Ched Evans used | :03:02. | :03:07.
the woman for his own gratification, that she was so intoxicated she | :03:07. | :03:11.
couldn't have possibly consented. Ched Evans claimed he wouldn't have | :03:11. | :03:15.
put himself in that situation, but his looks and the fact he was a | :03:15. | :03:18.
footballer meant he had a peak of women, but the jury didn't believe | :03:18. | :03:23.
him. -- the pick of women. The police say they hope the guilty | :03:23. | :03:26.
verdict will provide closure on this horrendous ordeal and she will | :03:26. | :03:30.
be able to rebuild her life, adding that no one is above the law. The | :03:30. | :03:34.
Crown Prosecution Service also said it is a myth that being vulnerable | :03:34. | :03:37.
to alcohol consumption means a victim is somehow responsible for | :03:37. | :03:41.
being raped. The law is clear, being vulnerable through drink or | :03:41. | :03:46.
drugs does not imply consent, they said. The judge told 23-year-old | :03:46. | :03:50.
Evans he had thrown away a successful and promising career. | :03:50. | :03:54.
Tonight he is beginning a five-year sentence. | :03:55. | :03:59.
Well, Lucy, we have received a statement from Ched Evans's Blair | :03:59. | :04:03.
this evening would says his client is in shock and still protesting | :04:03. | :04:07.
his innocence -- Ched Evans's lawyer. It is confirmed they are | :04:07. | :04:11.
considering an appeal. But his latest we have this evening on this | :04:11. | :04:15.
extraordinary court case. Aled Hughes, thank you. | :04:15. | :04:20.
A top European official has told BBC Wales he is sure some of our | :04:20. | :04:23.
poorest areas will qualify for another round of European funding. | :04:23. | :04:26.
But Johannes Hahn, European Commissioner for Regional Policy, | :04:26. | :04:30.
says in future there should be fewer projects receiving aid money, | :04:30. | :04:34.
and they will have to be quantifiable results. And Wyn Jones | :04:34. | :04:38.
has more. Over the last decade, the poorest | :04:38. | :04:41.
parts of Wales have received billions of pounds of European aid | :04:41. | :04:45.
money designed to pull them out of poverty. These pupils are seeing | :04:45. | :04:50.
the benefits of that money. In this case, paying for their computers. | :04:50. | :04:54.
And this is the man who in effect decides how much money is spent and | :04:54. | :04:58.
what should be done with it. We have already had two rounds of | :04:58. | :05:02.
funding, and today we have been told that Wales will qualify for a | :05:02. | :05:07.
third round. If all this investment, which has been launched, which is | :05:07. | :05:15.
not yet finished, is finished, I think the impact, the positive | :05:15. | :05:20.
impact will be felt. But after 10 years of European aid money, many | :05:20. | :05:23.
are asking why Wales hasn't seen the improvements which were | :05:23. | :05:30.
originally promised. We have seen investments up and round -- up and | :05:30. | :05:34.
down Wales which I hope we will qualify for this time as a final | :05:34. | :05:38.
qualification for European funding of this sort. And this is the kind | :05:38. | :05:42.
of company he is talking about. Tidal energy have been working on | :05:42. | :05:45.
it to her account -- turbine which sits on the ocean for using tidal | :05:45. | :05:51.
energy to create electricity. have been supported with 6.4 | :05:51. | :05:55.
million and the total cost of the project is 12 million. It is | :05:55. | :05:58.
research and development and a high risk investment with massive | :05:58. | :06:02.
opportunity for great potential. is those jobs which were meant to | :06:02. | :06:06.
propel Wales's economy, but that hasn't really happened. Wales | :06:06. | :06:10.
receiving this third round at European aid money is a double- | :06:10. | :06:14.
edged sword. It does mean that companies like this will continue | :06:14. | :06:18.
to receive European aid money but it also means that parts of Wales | :06:18. | :06:22.
are among the poorest regions not only in the UK but also in the | :06:22. | :06:26.
whole of the year. And according to recent figures, we | :06:26. | :06:31.
could be getting relatively poorer. Back in 1999, when Wales started | :06:31. | :06:34.
receiving European money, Wales's wealth was just over three-quarters | :06:34. | :06:39.
of the EU average. That has improved slightly to begin with, | :06:39. | :06:44.
but then steadily declined, and the latest figures for 2009 show only a | :06:44. | :06:48.
10 per cent fall -- Medea 10 per cent fall over 10 years. The Labour | :06:48. | :06:51.
government themselves has had in the past we shouldn't be receiving | :06:51. | :06:54.
money in the future at this present. Because it should have been spent | :06:54. | :06:58.
on creating business and enterprise in the way that we wouldn't need | :06:59. | :07:02.
these handouts. There have clearly been benefits from the European | :07:02. | :07:06.
money, but qualifying for another round debate does mean it hasn't | :07:06. | :07:11.
had the desired effect, to try to pull Wales out of its relative | :07:11. | :07:14.
poverty. The Labour party has learnt from | :07:14. | :07:18.
mistakes at the local elections four years ago according to the | :07:18. | :07:22.
party leader Ed Miliband. He is the latest leader to hit the campaign | :07:22. | :07:26.
ahead of next month's council elections. He was in Merthyr Tydfil | :07:26. | :07:29.
promising to win back some of Labour's lost support. Tomos | :07:29. | :07:32.
Livingstone spoke to him and began by asking whether this was an | :07:32. | :07:36.
election about what was going on in Westminster or more about local | :07:36. | :07:40.
issues around Wales. I think this is a chance for people | :07:40. | :07:45.
to elect could Labour councils and Labour councillors here in Wales, | :07:45. | :07:49.
and that is very important, but it is also in the context of a | :07:49. | :07:52.
government at Westminster that is cutting taxes for millionaires and | :07:52. | :07:56.
raising taxes for millions of people, and what you have got his | :07:56. | :08:00.
Labour councils, Labour councillors, seeking to fight against that, | :08:00. | :08:03.
making a difference to people's living standards, helping people | :08:03. | :08:07.
with local services, so what is Labour on people's side into of | :08:07. | :08:10.
sight -- at times when you have George Osborne, David Cameron, Nick | :08:10. | :08:14.
Clegg, who are way out of touch with the British people and | :08:14. | :08:16.
bringing about an unfair budget making life harder for people here | :08:16. | :08:21.
in Wales, so obviously, what is happening nationally is part of the | :08:21. | :08:24.
context of these elections but we also proud of our labour | :08:25. | :08:27.
councillors and councils and proud to be fighting on their record and | :08:27. | :08:31.
what they want to do for people in Wales. Unemployment figures this | :08:31. | :08:35.
week show another rise in Welsh unemployment. What can you offer | :08:35. | :08:39.
people in an area like Merthyr Tydfil to try and find work? | :08:39. | :08:42.
Catherine Jones as Welsh First Minister is obviously making a | :08:42. | :08:50.
difference -- Carwyn Jones. 4000 opportunities for people on a new | :08:50. | :08:53.
scheme, but we need a government in Westminster also fighting for jobs, | :08:53. | :08:59.
not losing them, and the problem is, for young people here, if I was | :08:59. | :09:02.
Prime Minister, I would be taxing bank as bonuses and using that | :09:02. | :09:05.
money to guarantee jobs far I young person, for every young person | :09:05. | :09:09.
unemployed for more than a year. That is the difference with Labour, | :09:09. | :09:13.
we're with the plight of times and what we have in Westminster is an | :09:13. | :09:15.
out-of-touch government which doesn't understand the needs of the | :09:15. | :09:18.
people of Wales. Four years ago Labour performed badly on the back | :09:18. | :09:23.
of the 10 per week -- 10 p tax row and lost councils in Wales. What | :09:23. | :09:27.
has changed this time, why should people support Labour? The Labour | :09:27. | :09:30.
Party is on people's side in these tough times. No one is denying | :09:30. | :09:33.
times are tough and the rot of decisions to be made, but the | :09:33. | :09:39.
question is, -- the tough decisions to be made, do you have a | :09:39. | :09:42.
government that understands the needs of people all wants to cut | :09:42. | :09:46.
taxes for the richest people in society? Lots had been revealed | :09:46. | :09:48.
about where this Westminster government stance in the last few | :09:49. | :09:53.
weeks. The idea that in a time when young people are struggling, when | :09:53. | :09:55.
middle-class families are struggling and low-income families | :09:55. | :09:59.
are struggling, people right across Wales are struggling, the idea is | :09:59. | :10:03.
that the priority to give a 40,000 tax cut to millionaires tells you | :10:03. | :10:06.
all you need to know about this government and the difference | :10:06. | :10:10.
between them and Labour, which is on people's side in tough times. | :10:10. | :10:13.
You are campaigning here with a slogan to get the vote out. Is that | :10:13. | :10:18.
a tacit admission perhaps that you haven't done enough to enthuse -- | :10:18. | :10:22.
enthuse National supporters to the ballot box? The we want as many | :10:22. | :10:25.
people to turn out as possible in his local election because he | :10:25. | :10:28.
wanted that could Labour councils and councillors and send a message | :10:28. | :10:32.
to Westminster -- one to elect Labour councils. About where | :10:32. | :10:35.
they're out of touch with people in Wales. I know what a good reaction | :10:35. | :10:39.
we have had on the doorsteps in Wales and I am looking forward to | :10:39. | :10:41.
meeting lots of people in Wales and taking Labour's message to them | :10:41. | :10:44.
about how Labour can be on their side and make their lives better in | :10:45. | :10:47.
tough times. South Wales Police are | :10:47. | :10:50.
investigating a complaint that a Labour candidate standing for the | :10:50. | :10:54.
Splott ward in Cardiff Council elections give a false address on | :10:54. | :10:58.
his registration form. Luke Holland, who heads the Labour's media team | :10:58. | :11:01.
in Wales lives in a neighbouring ward, but says he is in the process | :11:01. | :11:05.
of buying a house in Splott, and accuses Liberal Democrat opponents | :11:05. | :11:10.
of smear tactics. The funeral has been held of a | :11:10. | :11:12.
mother and son found killed at their home in Gwynedd earlier this | :11:12. | :11:18.
month. 34-year-old Suzanne Jones and two-year-old William it hit a | :11:18. | :11:23.

cause skin problems for some people including those with Exmoor. The | :11:34. | :11:38.

nickel allergies. Still to come: How a West Wales village is | :11:51. | :11:54.
celebrating 100 years since Dennis Corbett Wilson made the first | :11:54. | :12:02.
flight across the I receive. -- I receive. | :12:02. | :12:05.
Half the railway stations in Wales and many bus services are still | :12:05. | :12:08.
failing to meet government standards on accessibility for | :12:08. | :12:12.
disabled people, so today, a conference gave them the chance to | :12:12. | :12:16.
voice their frustrations to the bosses of the Trans but companies. | :12:16. | :12:20.
Matt Murray reports. -- transport companies. | :12:20. | :12:24.
For Andrew Jones, getting from A to B takes planning. He has cerebral | :12:24. | :12:28.
palsy and is reliant on specially adapted vehicles like this one. His | :12:28. | :12:32.
wheelchair is too large and heavy for Ms public transport, so he | :12:32. | :12:37.
needs taxis to get around. It is not just costly but also unreliable. | :12:37. | :12:41.
Recently his grandmother was ill in hospital and when he tried ringing | :12:41. | :12:49.
for a suitable cab, none was available. I wanted to visit my nan, | :12:49. | :12:55.
and I couldn't, because there wasn't a suitable taxi for me. And | :12:55. | :13:01.
I had to give 24 hours' notice. how much of an inconvenience was | :13:01. | :13:08.
that for you and your nan? It was a lot, because of the time, she was | :13:08. | :13:12.
in hospital. Andrew arrived at this conference looking to address the | :13:12. | :13:15.
practical problems that he and other artists -- disabled people | :13:15. | :13:19.
face regularly. Representatives from local bus, train and taxi | :13:19. | :13:22.
companies were there to see how things could be made better. | :13:22. | :13:26.
Today's event was organised by Simon Green, who has seen vast | :13:27. | :13:29.
improvements access in public transport, but still feels much | :13:29. | :13:34.
more needs to be done. You know, it is 2012, every disabled person like | :13:34. | :13:38.
every non-disabled person should be able to catch a bus, train or taxi | :13:38. | :13:42.
wherever they like. Things have got better and a much better than when | :13:42. | :13:47.
I first started using a wheelchair, but they can certainly improve. | :13:47. | :13:51.
nearly 250 railway stations in Wales -- of nearly 250, only half | :13:51. | :13:55.
meet the standards required by the Disability discrimination Act. | :13:55. | :13:59.
are working very hard to make them as accessible as possible. We are | :13:59. | :14:02.
investing money of Our Rome, the Welsh Government, we are working | :14:02. | :14:07.
with them and network Rail, to make sure we secured funding needed to | :14:07. | :14:10.
make a stations accessible. And it is not just the trains but also the | :14:10. | :14:16.
buses. 50 per cent of first Cymru's vehicles fail to meet government | :14:16. | :14:19.
standards on accessibility. They have a timetable of two years to | :14:19. | :14:23.
make all their fleets suitable, but for Andrew and others, the changes | :14:23. | :14:29.
Football - Cardiff City are hoping to guarantee their place in the | :14:29. | :14:33.
Championship play-offs tomorrow. They need a win against Leeds to be | :14:33. | :14:36.
sure of extending their season. They'd like to join Swansea City in | :14:36. | :14:38.
the Premier League. The Swans will mathematically ensure their top | :14:39. | :14:44.
flight status if they beat strugglers, Bolton. | :14:44. | :14:48.
They are virtually their, relegation is just a mathematical | :14:48. | :14:52.
possibility for Swansea. If they beat Bolton for the second time | :14:52. | :14:55.
this season and preserve their Premier League status, Brendan | :14:55. | :15:00.
Rodgers's side were not be taking it easy. With 800,000 prize money | :15:00. | :15:06.
for every place they can climb, they will fight every point. | :15:06. | :15:12.
finances involved is incredible. Every place counts for Ilott. That | :15:12. | :15:17.
extra place could go for an extra player. Cardiff have agreed new | :15:17. | :15:23.
contracts with Joe Mason. They hope to be moving to the Premier League | :15:23. | :15:28.
next season. The Bluebirds are in great form. They need one more win | :15:28. | :15:33.
to reach the play-offs for the third successive year. They are | :15:33. | :15:37.
four point clear of Middlesbrough be two games to play. They want to | :15:37. | :15:44.
keep their momentum going. I don't think anybody wants to lead over | :15:44. | :15:49.
the line. We want to get over the line first. Let's concentrate on | :15:49. | :15:54.
winning against Leeds. Wrexham and savour the Conference play-offs and | :15:54. | :15:58.
Arab later Mansfield tonight. Newport County who have done enough | :15:58. | :16:03.
to stay up and away tomorrow. The world's premier race will be | :16:03. | :16:08.
decided on Saturday. The New Saints host Bangor City who trailed them | :16:08. | :16:12.
by just two points. The winner would guarantee themselves Champion | :16:12. | :16:17.
League football next season. It is the most important thing. It pushes | :16:17. | :16:25.
the club on. To win it back to backward be a great achievement. We | :16:25. | :16:30.
are not full-time, we are not big players, his tears the amount of | :16:30. | :16:39.
heart in our team. -- it is. This year, it will go right to the wire | :16:39. | :16:42.
again. Rugby - Wales and Blues wing, Alex | :16:42. | :16:45.
Cuthbert, could be on his way to France. There are reports today | :16:46. | :16:49.
that the 21-year-old has been lured away from the Blues to join big | :16:49. | :16:51.
spenders Toulon. The Welsh region are in talks with former Scarlets | :16:52. | :16:54.
head coach, Phil Davies, to become their next director of rugby. He's | :16:55. | :16:58.
currently working at Worcester. The Blues play Edinburgh on Sunday. The | :16:58. | :17:01.
Scarlets play Munster tomorrow, still in the hunt for a play-off | :17:01. | :17:04.
place while the Ospreys are bidding to hang on to a home play-off place | :17:04. | :17:08.
as they host the Dragons tonight in the penultimate round of the PRO12. | :17:08. | :17:12.
It is also a chance for fans to bid farewell to Shane Williams on their | :17:12. | :17:14.
home patch although the former Wales star could feature again in | :17:15. | :17:20.
those play-offs. The game is live a Scrum V live tonight and a little | :17:20. | :17:26.
earlier were caught up with presenter, Ross Harries. | :17:26. | :17:30.
It is going to be a big occasion, an emotional occasion at the | :17:30. | :17:38.
Liberty Stadium. They are expecting the biggest crowd of the season. | :17:38. | :17:42.
They're giving Shane Williams a winning send-off. Joining me his | :17:42. | :17:46.
Kingsley Jones. They are expecting a season's best crowd. It would be | :17:46. | :17:56.
:17:56. | :17:58. | ||
fitting. I can see it being a great occasion tonight. It will be great | :17:58. | :18:01.
to see sailors on the scoreboard. The Ospreys are in pole position to | :18:01. | :18:06.
get his home semi-final with two games left. They could be | :18:06. | :18:09.
guaranteed a home semi-final here. The Dragons have been tough | :18:09. | :18:15.
opponents. They have. They have had a poor couple of weeks, the Dragons, | :18:15. | :18:20.
but the last three occasions they had beaten the Ospreys. You would | :18:20. | :18:25.
have to say with the Ospreys form of late, Dan Biggar particularly, | :18:25. | :18:32.
they are playing well. There is a buzz about the Ospreys. Also a bit | :18:32. | :18:41.
of an intriguing roll-call, it could be a humdinger. I am looking | :18:41. | :18:45.
forward to that. They are looking to putting their hand up for their | :18:45. | :18:48.
country and in terms of their own clubs, the need to push on and play | :18:48. | :18:53.
well. He know that big story, the Blues are seeking to appoint a | :18:53. | :18:57.
director of rugby next season. A number of names have been linked, | :18:57. | :19:02.
yours among them. To be honest you would have to say that it would | :19:02. | :19:07.
appeal to any coach, particularly a Welshman. There are Rolly four | :19:07. | :19:11.
regions and just like that are few and far between. -- that there are | :19:11. | :19:17.
only four regions. It is a stepping stone to the national team. I am | :19:17. | :19:21.
negotiating a new contract with Russia. I am very happy with them. | :19:21. | :19:27.
That is where I am at at the moment. It is such a great region. It will | :19:27. | :19:31.
be interesting for any coach. Many thanks. We will be watching the | :19:31. | :19:35.
game later on. We are on air at 7 o'clock on BBC Two Wales just after | :19:36. | :19:41.
Wales Today. Switch-over to see Shane Williams's last game for the | :19:41. | :19:44.
Ospreys. Cricket - It has been a day of | :19:44. | :19:47.
showers and wickets on day two of Glamorgan's County Championship at | :19:47. | :19:50.
home to Hampshire. The visitors passed Glamorgan's declared total | :19:50. | :19:54.
of 103 before lunch but instead of pulling away the wickets tumbled. | :19:54. | :19:58.
Huw Waters taking a career best of 7 for 53. Hampshire were eventually | :19:58. | :20:05.
all out for 156. On the eve of the World Snooker | :20:05. | :20:08.
Championship in Sheffield, two-time winner Mark Williams has today | :20:08. | :20:11.
caused a bit of a stir. The 37- year-old has criticised the | :20:12. | :20:14.
Crucible venue on Twitter stating he hopes the tournament would move | :20:14. | :20:19.
to China. He has since apologised for his bad language but added the | :20:19. | :20:23.
Grade II listed building is still his least favourite place to play. | :20:23. | :20:28.
He faces Liu Chuang in the opening round of this year's championship. | :20:28. | :20:31.
This weekend marks a hundred years since the first successful flight | :20:31. | :20:36.
across the Irish Sea. The pilot that day was Denys Corbett Wilson | :20:36. | :20:40.
who eventually took off from the town of Goodwick near Fishguard. He | :20:40. | :20:44.
landed in Enniscorthy in the south- east of Ireland. To mark the | :20:44. | :20:47.
special anniversary a new exhibition and a play have been put | :20:47. | :20:55.
Born in Surrey in 1882 and educated in Eton, Denys Corbett Wilson is | :20:55. | :21:00.
not your typical Pembrokeshire hero. But as this new exhibition shows | :21:00. | :21:03.
that is what he his since writing the name of Goodwick in the | :21:03. | :21:11.
aviation history books. Much of the research was carried out by Ken | :21:11. | :21:13.
Williams who began looking into Wilson's journey after coming | :21:14. | :21:16.
across this picture of his Bleriot X1 arriving in Pembrokeshire on its | :21:16. | :21:25.
way to Ireland. It is a large event. There is no | :21:25. | :21:33.
question about that. It is history and it is local history. Yes, I | :21:33. | :21:38.
think it is a good thing. I hope that children will know the gist of | :21:38. | :21:43.
the story soon. It was from this field at a quarter to six on the | :21:43. | :21:46.
morning of 22nd April 1912 that Denys Corbett Wilson set off on his | :21:46. | :21:50.
historic flight across the Irish Sea. He landed on the south-east | :21:50. | :21:56.
coast of Ireland an hour and 40 minutes later. Wilson had intended | :21:56. | :21:58.
to set off from Holyhead alongside another pilot, Damer Leslie Allen, | :21:58. | :22:02.
but he go lost on his way to Anglesey and ended up in | :22:02. | :22:10.
Pembrokeshire. These people meander across the countryside. In those | :22:10. | :22:14.
days there was no TPS all maps are such that brought them into | :22:14. | :22:24.
:22:24. | :22:25. | ||
particular places. They were governed by the weather. We are | :22:25. | :22:28.
Corbett Wilson's story has inspired a play which will be performed in | :22:28. | :22:38.
:22:38. | :22:40. | ||
Fishguard tomorrow and in Wexford next week. It is extort it is | :22:40. | :22:50.
:22:50. | :22:50. | ||
extraordinary how they through in these aircraft. His feet was | :22:50. | :22:55.
overshadowed by the sinking of the Titanic a week earlier. The Pope -- | :22:55. | :22:59.
people Pembrokeshire are determined to give him the attention he | :22:59. | :23:04.
deserves. I am not sure that Derek would have been wanting to take to | :23:04. | :23:07.
the skies tonight. Not with the Haler showers. I hope | :23:07. | :23:17.
:23:17. | :23:18. | ||
it will be better for the weekend I am RHS Show in Cardiff. It is the | :23:18. | :23:21.
place to come if you want to pick up a few tips for your garden or | :23:21. | :23:26.
allotment. There is a lot to see and do here including these | :23:26. | :23:30.
wheelbarrows. They have been put together by a local school -- | :23:30. | :23:36.
school children. This one is based on the Olympics. Take a look on | :23:36. | :23:40.
that one. It is about to Wales winning the Grand Slam. They are | :23:40. | :23:44.
taking on the French. Look at who is pushing a wheelbarrow, Sam | :23:44. | :23:49.
Warburton. It is all quiet at the moment but if they are gearing up | :23:49. | :23:53.
for a very busy weekend. It you remember last April which was | :23:53. | :23:58.
gorgeous, it was the warmest April for a century in Wales. On this day | :23:58. | :24:03.
last year, the temperatures soared to 23 degrees Celsius. We could | :24:03. | :24:08.
only manage a 12 degree Celsius today. There is no sign of things | :24:08. | :24:12.
warming up over the weekend. Some sunshine here this evening but | :24:12. | :24:17.
there has been a few downpours. Even a bit of snow on the mountains. | :24:17. | :24:23.
For the weekend it is a case of sunny intervals and April showers. | :24:23. | :24:27.
For this evening, some sunshine around but a few showers around | :24:27. | :24:32.
tonight. Most places drive with a few clear spells and it will turn | :24:32. | :24:37.
chilly with lowest temperatures to degrees Celsius. Colder in rural | :24:37. | :24:41.
spot with a touch of ground frost. Low-pressure sitting on Britain | :24:41. | :24:46.
again tomorrow. That means more unstable air, towering clouds and | :24:46. | :24:51.
showers. Tomorrow may start of dry with some sunshine but showers will | :24:51. | :24:55.
breakout, spreading across the country and some of them heavy. | :24:55. | :24:59.
Later in the afternoon, the showers should ease with some sunshine and | :24:59. | :25:05.
the West. Top temperatures 10-12 degree Celsius with a westerly | :25:05. | :25:10.
breeze. In Powys tomorrow, a dry start with some sunshine, showers | :25:11. | :25:15.
by the afternoon. Temperatures in Knighton rising to in 10 or 11 | :25:15. | :25:21.
degrees Celsius. Tomorrow evening will be tried. Overnight, the | :25:21. | :25:26.
country dry but Chile. Some ground frost especially in the countryside. | :25:26. | :25:30.
Sunday will bring some sunshine but there will be some showers around. | :25:30. | :25:36.
They could be heavy with hail and thunder. Temperatures similar to | :25:36. | :25:41.
recent days. Next week, it is looking unsettled, more rain | :25:41. | :25:45.
followed by a showers and blustery winds. The rest of April does look | :25:45. | :25:52.
unsettled. Ellen settled start to may probably. The weather very hit- | :25:52. | :25:56.
and-miss this evening -- this weekend. Bring a coat and an | :25:57. | :26:01.
umbrella with you if you are coming to the RHS Show. I have got a | :26:01. | :26:06.
present for you. I don't think you need one of these! | :26:06. | :26:13.
I hope it was not from one of the The main news again from the BBC. | :26:13. | :26:15.
The Wales and Sheffield United footballer Ched Evans has been | :26:15. | :26:18.
jailed for five years after being found guilty of rape. His co- | :26:18. | :26:21.
defendant, the Port Vale player Clayton Macdonald, was cleared of | :26:21. | :26:25.
the same charge after an incident at a hotel in Denbighshire last May. | :26:25. | :26:27.
The Bahraini government and Formula One bosses have insisted this | :26:27. | :26:30.
weekend's Grand Prix will go ahead despite renewed clashes between | :26:30. | :26:32.
security forces and anti-government protestors and political pressure | :26:32. | :26:36.
to call the race off. The Crown Prince of Bahrain said that | :26:36. | :26:42.
cancelling the race would play into the hands of extremists. | :26:42. | :26:45. |
