Good evening. Protestors gathered in Pembrokeshire today to oppose plans

to close the special care unit at Withybush Hospital and move the

service to Carmarthen. Hywel Dda Health Board say the change will

provide a better level of care. But around 1,000 campaigners called for

a rethink. Sachin Krishnan reports. On a wet Sunday morning, the turnout

showed the strength of feeling the issue of specialist baby care at

Withybush has generated. This week came the news many here were

dreading - the unit would be leaving Pembrokeshire and moving to

Carmarthen's Glangwili Hospital. Today, patients and professionals

joined together to deliver their message. We believe it should be

centralised here. We agree there is a shortage of funds. We understand

that. The people of Carmarthen have good road access to Swansea and the

people of Llanelli, who are included within the health board, are on the

doorstep of Swansea, so why should we be disadvantaged? Health minister

insists that the plans to centralise the specialist baby unit income are

then will improve care. Other hospitals in the Hywel Dda health

board area will eventually provide midwife led services with a

transport system to be developed to transfer emergency cases to

Carmarthen. The scrutiny panel, following its further work, has

concluded that it has not been presented with any additional

evidence that leads them to question their original support for the

health board's proposals to develop a level to neonatal unit at

Glangwili. The plans allow for a bedding in period with some

obstetricians staying on for a time at Withybush and a hospital in

Aberystwyth. But these protesters say they will fight on and have

applied for a judicial review of these decisions.

The Welsh Conservatives say they want more details from the Liberal

Democrats about the action taken by the party after a complaint of

inappropriate behaviour was made against one of its assembly members.

William Powell, who represents Mid and West Wales, has issued an

unreserved apology to a female activist after an incident in 2011,

in which he touched her knee. The party says Mr Powell was given a

formal written warning last year, but the Conservatives say they want

clarification about whether it has satisfied the person who came

forward with the allegation. The Welsh Government is supporting a

decision by the UK Government to ban electronic cigarettes for under-18s.

A new law is also being introduced to give adults who buy cigarettes

for children an on-the-spot penalty of ?50. Ministers here say they're

currently considering how similar legislation could be introduced in

Wales. An experimental treatment that could

reverse the spread of breast cancer is being tested by scientists at

Cardiff University. Researchers are now moving on to clinical and

patient trials. The majority of deaths from cancer are as a result

of its spread to organs such as the liver, brain or lungs.

Former Wales international Jonathan Davies has told BBC Wales Sam

Warburton's decision to sign a central contract with the Welsh

Rugby Union has opened up a can of worms. The deal states the Wales

captain will be loaned out to his current club, the Cardiff Blues. But

the regional teams, who remain locked in a dispute with the WRU,

have previously said they would not pick any centrally contracted

players. It's good for Welsh rugby for kids to see their stars playing

but it opened a can of worms up, really, because the regions have got

to be in agreement with the centrally contracted players. So

where is he going to play and train? I'm not sure if they've talked about

that. Football, and Swansea City will play

former manager Roberto Martinez's Everton in the fifth round of the FA

Cup. The Swans, who beat Birmingham yesterday, will be away for the

match to be played in the middle of next month. Cardiff City's reward

for beating Bolton is a home tie against Cup holders Wigan.

warning in place for ice for areas away from the coastline until 10am.

quickly, though blustery showers tomorrow are only likely to fall as

snow on higher ground. A windy day, with temperatures only just reaching
