Good evening. It's been a highly respected name in the Welsh

construction industry but tonight most of the Macob empire has

collapsed, with the loss of 145 jobs. It's been operating since

1981. In that time, it's built over 12,000 homes and more than 200 miles

of road. The company owns Cardiff's historic Coal Exchange, but

development plans for that iconic building won't be affected by

today's announcement. Here's our business correspondent, Brian

Meechan. The sign on the door of Macob's

headquarters in Cardiff told its own story, administration and the losses

that good with it. The company has ceased trading -- trading which

means jobs have been lost. The company owns the historic Coal

Exchange, popular love music menu which is being developed into office

spake -- a popular live music venue which is being developed into office

space. Other parts of the business are less certain. Macob has been

marketing this 200,000 square feet business Park. Many involve in the

construction sector has been surprised by the construction

company's closure. I have no record for very many years, so I am sad

that it has happened. -- I have known Macob for many years. The

company is changing. It was involved in the construction of the St Davids

Hospital in Cardiff, a state-of-the-art facility opened ten

years ago. The construction industry has been badly hit by the economic

crisis. In the last few years, Macob says going into administration is a

result of tough trading conditions. There are signs of a positive future

for construction. The industry is set to grow by 3.4% each year

between now and 2018. That is the second-highest rate in the UK. That

is mainly down to big infrastructure projects including a new nuclear

power station on Anglesey. Always 18,000 new jobs are expected to be

created over the next few years. The Welsh government specialist panel on

construction says, we should not read anything into the state of the

industry generally from the fortunes of this one company. At the moment

it is in a very competitive market. The house-building sector is leading

the way, there are positive statistics from there. Positive

results from there. Commercially, it is still a very difficult and

competitive market. So regrettably we are seeing companies failing, and

that is not a surprise at this moment in time. This is allowed --

this is the end for a large part of the Macob business, even if some

small parts have been salvaged. All these are worrying and uncertain

times by former workers, the hope is job opportunities could arise in

other companies as the construction sector expands.

in connection with indecent images of children, as part of the

investigation into the jailed Lostprophets singer, Ian Watkins.

Joanne Mjadzelics is accused of seven offences, including four

counts of possessing and two of distributing an indecent image.

She's been bailed and is due to appear at Cardiff Magistrates court

later this month. Watkins, from Pontypridd, was jailed for 29 years

last December, after admitting a catalogue of serious sex offences

involving children. Councillors in Powys have voted

through their budget for the next financial year including a 4.5% rise

in council tax. Protestors once again gathered outside the meeting

where ?20 million worth of cuts was approved. It will mean the loss of

around 400 jobs. Hundreds of people, angry at

proposals to close a special care baby unit in Haverfordwest, took

their protest to Cardiff Bay today. They say moving the unit from

Withybush hospital to Carmarthen will lead to lives being lost. The

Welsh government says the changes will provide the best possible care

for mothers and babies. Tourism facilities in north Wales,

damaged in this winter's storms, are to get money to repair them from the

Welsh Government. In Rhyl where 130 homes were flooded in December,

?250,000 will be spent on projects including beach access, while Conwy

council is getting nearly ?500,000 to help restore Deganwy promenade.

There the authority says it wouldn't be able to do the work without

financial help: I have been inundated with people asking what is

happening with the gangway. It is very much used for recreational

walking, cycling, leisure, it is an integral part of the tourism here.

So you have to restore it? Absolutely, this is not an option.

Rugby, and Scarlets centre Jonathan Davies has been recalled to the

Wales team for Sunday's Six Nations clash against England. Davies has

only played two half-matches for his region since a serious chest injury

last November. Here's Ashleigh Crowter.

He has been the missing link in Wales 's line during the current Six

Nations. Against England, with Jonathan Davies restored, the

chamber once again be complete. Before he got injured, he was Wales

most improved player. A threat in attack and defence, which led to

Lions selection. He has not played whole match since that South Africa

test in November where he tore a chest muscle off the bone, but now

he is fit, Warren Gatland let the chance to pick him. He is a

world-class player, it is not difficult for us to make the call.

Jonathan has been doing a lot of training in the last five weeks. He

has probably been doing too much, he is ready to go. In terms of being

fit, he is very sharp at the moment. He had not had a lot of rugby. The

line-up from Saturday starts -- include 11 players who started last

year. Alun Wyn Jones missed the France game, and other than him, he

is the same -- it is the same pack. Rhys Webb is partnering Rhys

Priestland, who can walk -- look forward to working with Jonathan

Davies in midfield. He will be the part of the potent three quarters

division who all one test caps for the Lions this summer.

driest and warmest stretch of weather since last autumn. Before

murky with patchy rain. The cloud holding up the temperatures, so much

It could turn heavy for a time, especially across North and West

Wales, Thursday night into Friday morning. Some rain turning drizzly

and cloudy, brightening up through the day on Friday. Breezy and

staying mild. This low pressure system is being pushed back

northwards by high pressure building from the South on Saturday. These

isobars straighten out meaning the winds turn more southerly, drawing

up warm air from the Azores. Tomorrow and Friday, cloudy, rain

and brightness. Then a cold start on Saturday, turning milder, warmer by

day. Not always sunny. We could see some overnight frosts.
