Welcome to Wales Today. Tonight's headlines. | :00:00. | :00:07.
Nurses say they are frustrated and demoralised following criticism by | :00:08. | :00:11.
Labour MP Ann Clwyd. They're demanding a report into her | :00:12. | :00:21.
husband's death be made public. We cannot continue to have this | :00:22. | :00:25.
barrage of exposure within the media without actually knowing what is it | :00:26. | :00:29.
that has gone so drastically wrong and wearies of the evidence and what | :00:30. | :00:34.
action has been taken to hold anybody who was responsible to | :00:35. | :00:36.
account. Tonight, Ann Clwyd tells us why she | :00:37. | :00:40.
doesn't want the details to be published. | :00:41. | :00:52.
Also tonight. Charges will be brought against the | :00:53. | :00:56.
owner of Farmbox Meats in Ceredigion, accused of mislabelling | :00:57. | :01:01.
goat as lamb. Storm damage to Welsh woodlands. The | :01:02. | :01:11.
cost is estimated at more than a million pounds. | :01:12. | :01:13.
In tonight's sport, they both desperately need points, but Cardiff | :01:14. | :01:16.
and Swansea face stern opposition against the giants of Merseyside | :01:17. | :01:19.
this weekend in the fight to stay in the Premier League. | :01:20. | :01:23.
And pass it on - the hunt is on for players to join the North Wales | :01:24. | :01:25.
Crusaders wheelchair rugby league team. | :01:26. | :01:31.
Good evening. The Labour MP Ann Clwyd is tonight under pressure to | :01:32. | :01:37.
allow an investigation into her husband's death to be made public. | :01:38. | :01:41.
The Royal College of Nursing in Wales has told this programme staff | :01:42. | :01:44.
feel demoralised and frustrated that Mrs Clwyd has refused to share a | :01:45. | :01:48.
report looking at the care Owen Roberts received at the University | :01:49. | :01:52.
Hospital of Wales. She claims her husband spent 27 hours on a trolley | :01:53. | :01:55.
and was treated with coldness and indifference. Tonight, the Director | :01:56. | :01:59.
of the RCN tells us it's crucial nurses and the public know what | :02:00. | :02:08.
happened. We cannot continue to have this | :02:09. | :02:13.
barrage of exposure within the media without actually knowing what is it | :02:14. | :02:18.
that has gone so drastically wrong and wearies the evidence and what | :02:19. | :02:22.
action has been taken to hold anybody who was to account. | :02:23. | :02:28.
Realistically, we do need to have the health board and the complainant | :02:29. | :02:32.
in gauging withers and if there are people to be held accountable, to | :02:33. | :02:35.
look at that. Earlier today, our Welsh Affairs | :02:36. | :02:38.
Editor Vaughan Roderick spoke to Ann Clwyd. He started by asking her why | :02:39. | :02:43.
she is unwilling to release the report. The reason I said no and may | :02:44. | :02:51.
continue to say no is that the process is not complete. But didn't | :02:52. | :02:57.
you put these circumstances into the traveller domain yourself? Some of | :02:58. | :03:03.
them, of course I did. It is important when you are discussing | :03:04. | :03:07.
waiting times on trolleys to say they made my husband wait 27 hours | :03:08. | :03:14.
on a trolley. I think that is very pertinent. Under the complaint | :03:15. | :03:18.
procedure, if you are not satisfied with the initial response to your | :03:19. | :03:22.
complaint, there is another road that you can go down and I am going | :03:23. | :03:29.
down that road now. Can you understand the feelings of staff who | :03:30. | :03:35.
may say, Ann Clwyd is publishing things that are detrimental to us, | :03:36. | :03:39.
they may be other things in this report that are not detrimental. The | :03:40. | :03:44.
people who asked for the information under the Freedom of information is | :03:45. | :03:50.
apparently the Royal College of nursing in Wales. They are next door | :03:51. | :03:57.
to the University Hospital. I am quite sure that the people at the | :03:58. | :03:59.
Royal College of nursing already knew what some aspects of that | :04:00. | :04:03.
report would because they would have been questioned about some of the | :04:04. | :04:08.
allegations made about nurses. They are behaving like a trade union, | :04:09. | :04:13.
protecting their members. Which they are allowed to do. Of course. Carwyn | :04:14. | :04:22.
Jones was pretty dismissive of what you have been saying. He says, | :04:23. | :04:29.
produce the evidence, we have not seen the evidence. Were you | :04:30. | :04:33.
surprised at an attack like that? A little surprised. You know how many | :04:34. | :04:38.
times I have talked about these issues publicly over the last year | :04:39. | :04:43.
and a half, and particularly when in England I was doing a review into | :04:44. | :04:51.
complaints procedures. 20% of the letters I got were from Wales. The | :04:52. | :04:55.
majority of those were about University Hospital of Wales. Why | :04:56. | :05:01.
not show them? Let me answer you. You cannot show under the Freedom of | :05:02. | :05:10.
Information Act. You cannot show names and addresses. Do you think | :05:11. | :05:14.
the University Hospital of Wales could be another Mid Staffordshire? | :05:15. | :05:20.
Because of the figures I have seen in the past, there is cause for | :05:21. | :05:24.
concern and all I have been asking for all along is a review by 70 like | :05:25. | :05:32.
Sir Bruce Keogh who wrote to the Chief medical Officer and offered | :05:33. | :05:37.
his assistance. He said he was concerned by the figures I had shown | :05:38. | :05:41.
him and he told me it was a moral issue. Do we need a Welsh enquiry? | :05:42. | :05:50.
Yes, I have said so for months. No doubt some people in your party will | :05:51. | :05:55.
say, there is an election coming, it is going to be a tightly fought | :05:56. | :06:00.
fight between Ed Miliband and David Cameron. Why are you helping David | :06:01. | :06:06.
Cameron? I laugh about that. I am representing my constituents. I want | :06:07. | :06:12.
what is best for them. There is never a right time to criticise | :06:13. | :06:17.
something but there is a year to go until the election. I have been | :06:18. | :06:21.
saying this for the past year and a half. | :06:22. | :06:24.
Vaughan joins me now. How politically awkward is this for the | :06:25. | :06:32.
Welsh government? This is hugely politically awkward for the Welsh | :06:33. | :06:36.
government and there already are people within Labour in Wales who | :06:37. | :06:40.
are saying that Carwyn Jones handled it very badly this week by seeming | :06:41. | :06:46.
to attack Ann Clwyd. There are people saying that in the court of | :06:47. | :06:49.
public opinion, the battle between a grieving widow and the first | :06:50. | :06:54.
Minister, there is only one of those two people will feel sympathy with | :06:55. | :06:59.
in this case. But it is also incredibly difficult, not just for | :07:00. | :07:03.
the Welsh government but also for the health board in Cardiff. Hearing | :07:04. | :07:09.
Ann Clwyd say that the University Hospital could be another Mid | :07:10. | :07:13.
Staffordshire, you could imagine the effect on staff morale, on people | :07:14. | :07:16.
who may be waiting to go into that hospital. They have issued a | :07:17. | :07:20.
statement today saying they have reviewed a thousand case notes of | :07:21. | :07:25.
deaths in the hospital to offer further reassurance to patients. As | :07:26. | :07:31.
you heard from the Royal College of nursing, they are desperate for that | :07:32. | :07:35.
report into the death of Owen Roberts to be published because they | :07:36. | :07:37.
believe the public would get a full picture. They are not saying things | :07:38. | :07:43.
did not go wrong, they say -- the public should be able to see what | :07:44. | :07:47.
went wrong because Ann Clwyd decided to put this case into the public | :07:48. | :07:52.
arena. But this row is unlikely to go away. Ann Clwyd says she will | :07:53. | :08:00.
continue to speak out. She has had hundreds of e-mails, the vast | :08:01. | :08:03.
majority supporting her for speaking out. The problem with the Welsh | :08:04. | :08:07.
government has got is she wants to see what the opposition parties want | :08:08. | :08:13.
to see, which is a full enquiry. The opposition parties are not going to | :08:14. | :08:18.
let them go. The man likely to open the Welsh Conservative conference in | :08:19. | :08:22.
a few weeks time is no other than the English Health Secretary. What | :08:23. | :08:29.
is he coming to talk about? It is pretty easy to guess. | :08:30. | :08:32.
Meanwhile, the Welsh government's Deputy Chief Medical Officer says | :08:33. | :08:35.
Welsh hospitals are probably the most scrutinised and inspected of | :08:36. | :08:39.
any in the UK. It comes as new statistics on hospital mortality | :08:40. | :08:43.
rates are published. The Welsh Conservatives have renewed their | :08:44. | :08:45.
call for an independent inquiry and Plaid Cymru say further | :08:46. | :08:48.
investigation is needed into high mortality rates at Glangwili | :08:49. | :08:50.
Hospital in Carmarthen and Neath Port Talbot Hospital. But Dr Chris | :08:51. | :08:55.
Jones insists Welsh hospitals are becoming safer. | :08:56. | :09:03.
We know that numbers will be higher in Wales than in England because all | :09:04. | :09:07.
measures of mortality are higher in Wales. We don't have as healthy a | :09:08. | :09:11.
population overall in Wales as in England. I think there are lots of | :09:12. | :09:17.
measures that shows the NHS in Wales is providing excellent health care | :09:18. | :09:20.
and it is improving continuously. I would rather people looked at those | :09:21. | :09:22.
measures. In other news, two men from | :09:23. | :09:25.
Ceredigion are facing charges relating to the mislabelling of | :09:26. | :09:29.
meat. Dafydd Raw Rees, the owner of Farmbox Meats in Llandre, and Colin | :09:30. | :09:32.
Patterson, a company representative, are accused of mislabelling goat | :09:33. | :09:37.
meat as lamb or mutton. Last year, the business was raided by Food | :09:38. | :09:41.
Standards Agency Officials. Cemlyn Davies has more. | :09:42. | :09:45.
Farmbox Meats hit the headlines last February at the height of the horse | :09:46. | :09:49.
meat scandal. This man, the company's owner, Dafydd Raw Rees, | :09:50. | :09:52.
and Colin Patterson, who also worked here, were arrested on suspicion of | :09:53. | :09:56.
fraud following a raid by Food Standards Agency officials. They | :09:57. | :10:02.
were investigating claims horse meat was being sold on as beef. No | :10:03. | :10:07.
charges have been brought in relation to that investigation and | :10:08. | :10:13.
both men remain on bail. But they have now been told they'll be | :10:14. | :10:16.
charged with offences relating to the mislabelling of goat meat as | :10:17. | :10:21.
either lamb or mutton. 19 of the charges are to do with alleged | :10:22. | :10:24.
offences contrary to the Food Safety Act. There's an additional charge of | :10:25. | :10:29.
failing to comply with traceability requirements. The two men's | :10:30. | :10:34.
solicitor has told the BBC his clients will contest the | :10:35. | :10:39.
allegations. Meanwhile, two men from West Yorkshire have been accused of | :10:40. | :10:42.
failing to comply with traceability requirements for horses slaughtered | :10:43. | :10:48.
at their premises in Todmorden. The slaughterhouse's owner, Peter Boddy, | :10:49. | :10:51.
is also facing a charge of one count of forgery relating to an allegedly | :10:52. | :10:54.
falsified invoice for the sale of horse meat. In a statement, the CPS | :10:55. | :11:01.
said it believes there's a realistic prospect of conviction and | :11:02. | :11:03.
prosecution is in the public interest. All four men are due to | :11:04. | :11:08.
appear before Westminster Magistrates' Court next month. | :11:09. | :11:14.
A woman has denied seven charges relating to indecent images of | :11:15. | :11:16.
children at Cardiff Magistrates' Court. The court heard the charges | :11:17. | :11:21.
against Joanne Mjadzelics came to light as part of an investigation | :11:22. | :11:24.
into Ian Watkins, the former singer in the band Lostprophets. Ms | :11:25. | :11:28.
Mjadzelics will appear at Cardiff Crown Court next month. | :11:29. | :11:32.
Customs officers have seized what is believed to be the largest haul of | :11:33. | :11:36.
illicit alcohol discovered in Wales. A man from Cardiff has been | :11:37. | :11:40.
arrested. More than ?169,000 worth of beer, wine and spirits was found, | :11:41. | :11:49.
worth ?303,000 in lost duty and tax. A man has been arrested on suspicion | :11:50. | :11:52.
of murder following the death of a man in the Grangetown area of | :11:53. | :11:56.
Cardiff earlier this week. The body of David Alun-Lewis from Ystrad | :11:57. | :11:59.
Mynach was found partially submerged in the River Taff. Police are | :12:00. | :12:03.
currently searching the area for a weapon and are carrying out house to | :12:04. | :12:09.
house inquiries. Nick Palit reports. In the shadow of the Millennium | :12:10. | :12:11.
Stadium, the police investigation continues. Specialist divers | :12:12. | :12:15.
searching the murky waters of the Taff for any clues to what happened | :12:16. | :12:19.
here. Other officers combing the river bank and dense undergrowth | :12:20. | :12:22.
along the waters edge in their search for the weapon that killed | :12:23. | :12:28.
45-year-old David Alun-Lewis. His family in Ystrad Mynach describe him | :12:29. | :12:32.
as a good, decent man, highly intelligent and a talented musician. | :12:33. | :12:40.
He was found just before midnight on Wednesday, his body was found | :12:41. | :12:45.
partially submerged in the water underneath this bridge. Police say | :12:46. | :12:49.
he had significant head injuries and they are awaiting the results of a | :12:50. | :12:52.
postmortem examination. Police today arrested a 28-year-old man on | :12:53. | :12:56.
suspicion of murder. They say the last sighting of Mr Lewis was on | :12:57. | :13:00.
CCTV with another man walking past this storage company onto the | :13:01. | :13:03.
Penarth Road bridge. They're appealing for witnesses who may have | :13:04. | :13:07.
seen Mr Lewis that night and say he was wearing a navy anorak, jeans and | :13:08. | :13:10.
a light coloured baseball cap with Cross Hatch branding. We are really | :13:11. | :13:16.
keen to establish whether any members of the public in the | :13:17. | :13:22.
vicinity between 7:45pm and 11:50pm on Wednesday, March 19 may have | :13:23. | :13:28.
seen, witness, heard any altercation or suspicious incidents on the bank | :13:29. | :13:32.
of the river. Detectives have today been carrying out house to house | :13:33. | :13:35.
inquiries in the Grangetown area. Residents on the street which faces | :13:36. | :13:38.
the murder scene say they're shocked. For the past few months, | :13:39. | :13:43.
there have been a lot of incidents going on, especially in that area | :13:44. | :13:48.
where the body was found. It was awful because we were watching out | :13:49. | :13:51.
of the window as the body was being removed. It was awful. To be outside | :13:52. | :13:59.
your house, it was shocking. Though Mr Lewis lived with his parents in | :14:00. | :14:02.
Ystrad Mynach, when in Cardiff he often stayed at the Huggard Centre - | :14:03. | :14:06.
a night shelter for the homeless less than a mile from where his body | :14:07. | :14:10.
was found. Police have set up an incident room at Cardiff Central | :14:11. | :14:13.
Police Station. Still ahead tonight, fighting for | :14:14. | :14:16.
their Premier League lives. Both need points. Can the managers at | :14:17. | :14:20.
Cardiff and Swansea mastermind some magic this weekend against stern | :14:21. | :14:23.
opposition? And wheelchair rugby league - we're | :14:24. | :14:27.
live at this club in Flintshire as it tries to find new team members. | :14:28. | :14:35.
As we head into the longer days of spring and summer, many of us would | :14:36. | :14:41.
be looking forward to making use of what the woodlands of Wales have to | :14:42. | :14:45.
offer. But it's been estimated that the winter storms have caused over a | :14:46. | :14:48.
million pounds worth of damage with thousands of trees knocked down in | :14:49. | :14:52.
the winds. And there's been an impact too on visitor attractions. | :14:53. | :14:57.
Roger Pinney has been to Coed y Brenin near Dolgellau to find out | :14:58. | :15:02.
more. You will probably remember this. And | :15:03. | :15:08.
what about this? The storms which wreaked havoc on the coast also left | :15:09. | :15:13.
a trail of destruction through our woodland. Massive trees flattened | :15:14. | :15:20.
like matchsticks. Clearing the damage is a massive task, not just | :15:21. | :15:26.
here but across the country. Thousands of trees were felled in | :15:27. | :15:31.
the storms and don't forget, many Welsh forests are important tourist | :15:32. | :15:36.
draws. This is the worst I have seen in my career. The district manager | :15:37. | :15:43.
of the forestry arm of Natural Resources Wales says staff have been | :15:44. | :15:48.
at full strength. It is going to take as several months if not years | :15:49. | :15:53.
to get back to the position we were before the storm. In some ways, it | :15:54. | :15:58.
has caused us a lot of work but it does give us advantages in some | :15:59. | :16:03.
respects. It enables us to reconvert this back to a native woodland. Wood | :16:04. | :16:09.
from the trees will eventually be sold so their value is not lost. | :16:10. | :16:15.
More worrying is the damage caused to the tourist attractions. This | :16:16. | :16:19.
tangle of wires was a high ropes course, and attraction with last | :16:20. | :16:25.
year brought in 15,000 visitors. 90% of it has been flattened. The course | :16:26. | :16:31.
is unlikely to reopen this year. Mountain bikers have had better | :16:32. | :16:35.
luck. One by one, their trails have been reopened and it is hoped they | :16:36. | :16:41.
will all be in use again soon. There are massive trees which are all | :16:42. | :16:46.
down. It is a complete mess. Lots of tree damage. But it looks like they | :16:47. | :16:55.
are doing a good job of getting the trails open. It attracts around | :16:56. | :17:02.
170,000 visitors a year. There are walking trails as well. They are | :17:03. | :17:08.
important to the local community with bed and breakfast. It really is | :17:09. | :17:12.
a battle to get as much of it going as possible? It is a battle we are | :17:13. | :17:17.
starting to win but it is going to be ongoing for a couple of months. | :17:18. | :17:23.
Natural Resources Wales thinks the damage caused is worth ?2 million. | :17:24. | :17:28.
One way or another, we will be counting the cost of the storms for | :17:29. | :17:31.
some time yet. The number of people with scarlet | :17:32. | :17:35.
fever has increased, with 139 cases recorded in Wales since January. | :17:36. | :17:39.
That's double the number seen during the same period last year. Swansea | :17:40. | :17:43.
has the highest number of cases, with 24 people affected. Scarlet | :17:44. | :17:46.
fever can bring on a high temperature and a pink-red rash, but | :17:47. | :17:50.
it's treatable with antibiotics. BBC Wales' headquarters in Cardiff | :17:51. | :17:53.
will not be listed, paving the way for the corporation to move to new | :17:54. | :17:57.
premises. Cadw, the body responsible for protecting buildings, had been | :17:58. | :18:00.
asked to consider listing the building in the Llandaff area. The | :18:01. | :18:04.
final decision was made by the Culture Minister. BBC Wales has put | :18:05. | :18:09.
the site up for sale as part of plans to move its broadcasting base. | :18:10. | :18:12.
Let's catch up with tonight's sports news now. Here's Claire. | :18:13. | :18:18.
Good evening. Our two Premier League teams will be delighted to come away | :18:19. | :18:22.
with anything from a difficult weekend ahead. Cardiff City, who are | :18:23. | :18:25.
in the relegation zone, host title-chasing Liverpool. While | :18:26. | :18:29.
Swansea City, only four points clear of danger, travel to Everton. Here's | :18:30. | :18:35.
Ashleigh Crowter. The last time Cardiff played | :18:36. | :18:38.
Liverpool, it was Malky Mackay who was fighting for survival as | :18:39. | :18:42.
manager. Three months on, the whole club is on the brink. Brendan | :18:43. | :18:47.
Rodgers's side are genuine title contenders. It means no one is | :18:48. | :18:53.
giving Cardiff a chance tomorrow. But it is getting to the stage where | :18:54. | :18:57.
Cardiff need to defy everyone's expectations. In a game at | :18:58. | :19:02.
Liverpool, we have got nothing to lose. We are at home. We have done | :19:03. | :19:08.
it against City, we have drawn against United. There are still 24 | :19:09. | :19:15.
points to play for with eight games left. After Liverpool, the next two | :19:16. | :19:20.
games are against sides in the relegation mix. They will not want | :19:21. | :19:23.
to leave it to the last game when Chelsea try to win the title. An | :19:24. | :19:28.
injury time goldeneye Cardiff a point last week. Now Swansea will | :19:29. | :19:32.
head to Goodison Park hoping for better luck. Swansea are just four | :19:33. | :19:38.
points above the drop zone. A bad run at this stage of the season | :19:39. | :19:42.
could put them in deep trouble. Last weekend they lost at home to one of | :19:43. | :19:45.
the sides below them which has made things even tighter. It means every | :19:46. | :19:49.
game will now be a test of character. I have got no question at | :19:50. | :19:55.
all with the players. They realise what is at stake for themselves. | :19:56. | :20:00.
Reputations are on the line, not just the club only as a manager but | :20:01. | :20:05.
them as players. When you get question, you tend to get a | :20:06. | :20:10.
reaction. Swansea have a game in hand on Cardiff with nine left to | :20:11. | :20:14.
play. They have a trip to Arsenal on Tuesday and then a collection of | :20:15. | :20:19.
so-called 6-point is against the likes of Norwich, Hull City and | :20:20. | :20:21.
Sunderland. It's one of the most | :20:22. | :20:23.
eagerly-anticipated European football fixtures and a certain | :20:24. | :20:26.
Welshman will play his part this weekend. Gareth Bale, who's been | :20:27. | :20:29.
playing for Real Madrid for six months now, is gearing up to face | :20:30. | :20:33.
Barcelona in El Classico on Sunday - the two biggest teams in Spanish | :20:34. | :20:36.
football battling it out to win the league. Bale has scored 14 goals | :20:37. | :20:40.
since joining from Spurs and he says he's beginning to make his mark. | :20:41. | :20:48.
When you come to any club, you want to perform straightaway and | :20:49. | :20:52.
obviously, because of having no pre-season, the physical demands | :20:53. | :20:56.
were a lot more than I was able to do myself. But as I have got | :20:57. | :20:59.
fitter, my performances have got better. Hopefully now I can keep | :21:00. | :21:05.
maintaining the level of performance and get a lot better. | :21:06. | :21:08.
And Sport Wales has been to out Madrid. There's a profile on Gareth | :21:09. | :21:14.
Bale and his time in Spain so far tonight at 9.00pm over on BBC Two | :21:15. | :21:16.
Wales. Rugby and there's a Welsh derby in | :21:17. | :21:21.
the Pro12 tonight. The Ospreys, the top Welsh region, fourth in the | :21:22. | :21:24.
table, face the Blues who are 10th. It's the Blues' first match since | :21:25. | :21:28.
the departure of Director of Rugby Phil Davies. The Scarlets are away | :21:29. | :21:31.
to Glasgow tomorrow night, while the Dragons welcome Connacht on Sunday. | :21:32. | :21:34.
You can catch the derby tonight on Scrum V Live over on BBC Two Wales | :21:35. | :21:38.
from 7.00pm. Now, rugby of a different kind is | :21:39. | :21:41.
getting underway in Flintshire this evening as North Wales Crusaders | :21:42. | :21:44.
Wheelchair Rugby League Club begins training for the new season. Formed | :21:45. | :21:48.
last year, they're appealing for more players to join them. It's also | :21:49. | :21:52.
open to those who aren't wheelchair users. Matthew Richards is at | :21:53. | :22:02.
Deeside Leisure Centre. We have fortunately got a bit of a | :22:03. | :22:07.
respite in what has been a fast and furious bit of training. Let's speak | :22:08. | :22:11.
to the coach. Explain to us how it works. Wheelchair rugby league is a | :22:12. | :22:21.
similar version to the running game of rugby league. It is modified a | :22:22. | :22:25.
little bit that you don't have any scrimmaging but we have the play of | :22:26. | :22:34.
the ball, kicking and scoring tries by grounding or putting the ball | :22:35. | :22:44.
down and the post. They are basic sports cheese which are great and | :22:45. | :22:49.
they are mobile, everything is basically just right for the | :22:50. | :22:52.
players. They are designed for the young person or the older player. | :22:53. | :23:00.
Anybody can have a go. Let's find out a little bit more about that | :23:01. | :23:03.
recruitment drive and speak to Ian Edwards, the chairman of North Wales | :23:04. | :23:06.
Crusaders Wheelchair Rugby League Club. How are you spreading the word | :23:07. | :23:12.
about this? Mainly at the moment we are quite keen to get into schools. | :23:13. | :23:16.
We have got some junior sized wheelchairs here. We are going to be | :23:17. | :23:26.
put on some children's training. It does look pretty brutal at times. | :23:27. | :23:32.
While the lads are carrying on, you will often hear big crashes. They | :23:33. | :23:40.
don't hold back. But I guess that is an attraction for some kids. They | :23:41. | :23:45.
love it. It is actually what they want to do. They want to get stuck | :23:46. | :23:51.
in. Thank you very much and good luck with your recruitment. -- | :23:52. | :23:55.
drive. Paralympian athlete Nathan Stephens | :23:56. | :23:58.
learnt to dance for his wedding and probably thought that would be that. | :23:59. | :24:03.
But tonight he'll appear in Strictly Come dancing for Sports Relief after | :24:04. | :24:06.
the programme makers saw his wedding video. The 25-year-old, who lost his | :24:07. | :24:10.
legs in an accident when he was nine, has been in training with his | :24:11. | :24:14.
partner Iveta practising their Salsa routine. | :24:15. | :24:16.
And you can see Nathan in action tonight. | :24:17. | :24:26.
The only time I have danced is my first wedding dance which was a bit | :24:27. | :24:28.
stumpy but I managed to get through it. Hopefully with a bit more | :24:29. | :24:34.
training, I will remember the steps. Javelin has got to be quite rhythmic | :24:35. | :24:37.
anyway. It has got to be quite smooth. Hopefully it will marry up. | :24:38. | :24:46.
Sport Relief starts straight after us at 7.00pm here on BBC One Wales. | :24:47. | :24:50.
Derek's been known to wear his leg warmers for a spot of dancing. How | :24:51. | :24:52.
is the weekend weather looking? Leg warmers will come in handy. We | :24:53. | :25:01.
are in for a chilly weekend with a mixture of sunshine and showers. The | :25:02. | :25:04.
air is unstable which means heavy showers, hail and a risk of thunder. | :25:05. | :25:08.
Also some of the showers wintry with sleet and snow. And watch out for | :25:09. | :25:12.
frost, especially on Sunday night. This evening, a trough will move | :25:13. | :25:16.
east bringing a spell of rain. This will clear to scattered showers. | :25:17. | :25:21.
Some of the showers heavy with hail and falling as snow on higher | :25:22. | :25:28.
ground. A cold night. Here's the picture for 8.00am in the morning. | :25:29. | :25:32.
Some places dry but there will be showers around. Some of them heavy | :25:33. | :25:35.
and wintry with sleet. Snow in parts of Powys and Brecon Brecons. Rain or | :25:36. | :25:39.
hail on the coast. The temperature in Caernarfon only five Celsius. So | :25:40. | :25:44.
it's a case of dodging the showers. Snow on high ground. But I can | :25:45. | :25:47.
promise some dry weather and sunshine as well. Temperatures | :25:48. | :25:54.
nothing to write home about. In Caerphilly tomorrow, sunny intervals | :25:55. | :25:57.
and heavy showers. Hail possible with a high of eight Celsius in | :25:58. | :26:01.
Risca. In Montgomeryshire, it's a similar story with a top temperature | :26:02. | :26:04.
of seven Celsius in Newtown. Tomorrow night, a few showers. Some | :26:05. | :26:08.
dry, clear weather as well. Windy on Anglesey. Sunday will be chilly and | :26:09. | :26:13.
breezy with a few scattered showers but generally more in the way of dry | :26:14. | :26:24.
and bright weather. If you're in Cardiff Bay for the Sport Relief | :26:25. | :26:28.
mile on Sunday, I wouldn't rule out a shower, but otherwise dry. Ideal | :26:29. | :26:34.
for running. Sunday night will be dry and cold with a widespread | :26:35. | :26:39.
frost. In Mid Wales, the temperature could dip as low as minus five. | :26:40. | :26:44.
Monday will start cold and dry but it won't last with more rain on the | :26:45. | :26:49.
way. Our picture tonight is from Steve Davies-Evans. Towering clouds | :26:50. | :26:57.
over the Bristol Channel. Thanks, Steve. | :26:58. | :27:02.
The main news again. The Labour MP Ann Clwyd is under | :27:03. | :27:07.
pressure to allow an investigation into her husband's death to be made | :27:08. | :27:13.
public. The Royal College of Nursing in Wales has told Wales Today that | :27:14. | :27:16.
staff feel demoralised and frustrated that she has refused to | :27:17. | :27:20.
share a report looking at the care Owen Roberts received at the | :27:21. | :27:22.
University Hospital of Wales. Two men from Ceredigion are facing | :27:23. | :27:25.
charges relating to the mislabelling of meat. Dafydd Raw Rees, the owner | :27:26. | :27:29.
of Farmbox Meats in Llandre, and Colin Patterson, a company | :27:30. | :27:31.
representative, are accused of mislabelling goat meat as lamb or | :27:32. | :27:33.
mutton. | :27:34. | :27:40. |
