down by an out of hours service in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan

that is not fit for purpose. A patient watchdog says, standards set

for treating out of hours calls are not being met and in some instances

patients have waited more than five hours. Cardiff and Vale University

Health Board say, there's been a significant rise in demand and a

review is underway. Nick Palit reports. Betty and her partner enjoy

the Easter sunshine in their Cardiff garden. A week ago, David who has

Alzheimer's became unwell. Betty feared he may have suffered a mini

stroke and called the out of hours service and eventually they offer to

send an ambulance. As it was a Saturday night, she was reluctant to

take into A and wanted a doctor to call at the house. After many hours,

she gave up. I was told the urgent cases had been overwhelming them. I

thought maybe a stroke would be regarded as urgent. These had a

doctor would be out. Nine o'clock and nobody turned up so I rang back

again. I was distressed, I suppose. No matter where you live, the

standards are the same. 90% of call should be assessed within 20 minutes

and that has only been achieved once in Cardiff and the Vale health

board. Some patients had to wait even longer with one having to wait

for more than five hours. The patient watchdog claims the current

system is not working and it is putting a strain on A as a result.

Patients are waiting far too long. It is not all bad news. 75% of calls

were answered within 60 seconds and 100% of life-threatening calls were

dealt with in five minutes. Charlotte Jones is chair of the

general practitioners committee in Wales and said the problem isn't

just confined to Cardiff and Wales. The health board allocations have

risen but in that time has only been a small uplift in the funding to the

out of hours services. Last month there were over 11,000 out of hours

calls. They say 86% were dealt with in 30 minutes and most of the urgent

cases, 81%, had a home visit within the hour. That is of no comfort to

Betty who is still fearful that if David is taken ill again, they will

have no choice but to wait in an already busy casualties Department.

Nick Palit reporting from Cardiff. And in Pembrokeshire, the care

received by a well-known businessman has been criticised at an inquest in

Milford. 82-year-old Malcolm Green died following routine cancer

surgery in 2012. Abigail Neal listened to the evidence. Malcolm

Green was a fit and active businessman who at 82 still works

for the family run dealership in Haverfordwest. In 2012, he was

diagnosed with colon cancer and admitted to hospital for surgery.

Following the operation, he developed complications. Internal

bleeding was not initially picked up on. He was treated but it was too

late and he died a few days later. His sons have investigated the care

their father received and discovered lengthy delays. On the 26 -- in

June, he went for an operation to remove the Joomla! There were later

early indications of a problem as his blood pressure had dropped.

Internal bleeding was identified at 10am and although his condition was

critical, is decadent -- a second operation did not place -- take

place until three hours later. The surgeon was questioned about his

movements that day and why he had not operated sooner. He said he saw

Mr Green after his operation and had been told he was in pain but

confirmed he hadn't examined him or was he informed about the drop in

blood pressure. He went on to run a cancer clinic 's was phoned three

times to be told that Mr Green was unwell and his condition was

deteriorating. The health board have apologised to the family for what

they term avoidable and unacceptable delays. They say an internal

investigation has been carried out and actions taken to ensure these

failings do not happen again. Two of Wales' best young sailors

have been cleared of all wrongdoing, after a boat crash in Cardiff Bay in

2010 which left a schoolgirl brain damaged. Eleni Morris and Nia Jones

were 17 at the time and had represented Great Britain. They'd

been cleared of failing to travel at a safe speed, failing to keep a

proper look out, and of piloting the boats without lights.

A man's been arrested in Newport on suspicion of firearms and drugs

offences. The 34-year-old was taken into custody after police believed

explosives were being stored in a house in the West of the city. Bomb

disposal experts later said the object found was safe. The man is

being questioned on suspicion of possessing a firearm and cannabis

production. Many owners of Asian restaurants

feel they're being unfairly targeted and subjected to heavy handed

tactics by enforcement officers, looking for illegal workers.

Llanelli MP, Nia Griffith says, the way raids are being carried out on

the premises, can damage a business' reputation beyond repair. The Home

Office says figures show its actions are successful and it makes no

apology for enforcing immigration laws.

The point is, it is the way the enforcement officers have been

disrupting these restaurants, frightening customers at the busiest

times and conducting interviews with staff in the front window. There are

ways of doing things which bring courtesy and dignity to the

restaurant owners. More beaches in Wales have been

recognised for their excellent water quality with fewer failing to meet

the minimum standard. The Marine Conservation Society says, 109 out

our 152 beaches met the highest grade, that's 11 more than the

previous year. Welsh swimmer Jazz Carlin claimed

her second title of the British Championships in Glasgow tonight as

she won the 400 metre freestyle having triumphed in the 800 metre

freestyle on Monday night. Georgia Davies, meanwhile, was second in the

50 metre backstroke final. Former Snooker World Champion Mark

Williams and former runner up Matthew Stevens will both miss out

on the World Championships at the Crucible this weekend. They both

lost their final qualifying rounds tonight ten frames to eight.

Meanwhile Jamie Jones also failed to make the tournament. But a better

result for Dominic Dale who's through to the main draw. Let's take
