Korean ferry capsized. That's all

:00:00.:00:00.

Welcome to Wales Today. Our top story.

:00:00.:00:00.

This nursery is doing good business - as unemployment falls again in

:00:07.:00:10.

Wales, what's the big picture when it comes to the jobs market?

:00:11.:00:18.

There aren't many jobs around. This was an opportunity of a lifetime

:00:19.:00:24.

here. I had to snap it up. The UK and Welsh governments both

:00:25.:00:27.

claim credit for the improved jobs figures - we're in Wrexham to see if

:00:28.:00:31.

people here are optimistic about the labour market.

:00:32.:00:46.

Our other headlines. Food for hungry families - the

:00:47.:00:51.

number of people receiving emergency food from food banks has more than

:00:52.:00:56.

doubled this year. Malcolm Green would probably have

:00:57.:01:00.

lived had it not been for a breach of duty by medical staff at

:01:01.:01:04.

Withybush Hospital. They come for our castles - the

:01:05.:01:07.

number of tourists coming here on holiday from the rest of the UK is

:01:08.:01:15.

on the up. I am in Tenby taking the temperature

:01:16.:01:20.

of the tourism industry ahead of the big Easter getaway.

:01:21.:01:24.

Good evening. Unemployment has fallen again in Wales, but there are

:01:25.:01:27.

concerns that the jobs being taken are low paid, offering too few

:01:28.:01:33.

hours. According to the latest figures, over 100,000 people here

:01:34.:01:38.

are out of work. That's 6,000 fewer than the last quarter. That means

:01:39.:01:43.

6.8% of us are unemployed - lower than the rate across the UK. That

:01:44.:01:50.

stands at 6.9%. The UK and Welsh governments have welcomed the news

:01:51.:01:53.

but unions say the labour market here is far from healthy. Our

:01:54.:01:58.

business correspondent Brian Meechan is in Wrexham this evening.

:01:59.:02:10.

This is the Wrexham Lager Brewery. It was started up two and a half

:02:11.:02:13.

years ago and has just taken on a new employee. It has huge expansion

:02:14.:02:20.

plans and it hopes to be taking on even more employees. I have spent

:02:21.:02:25.

the last few days going around Wrexham talking to businesses.

:02:26.:02:35.

Wrexham has a higher rate of implement than both the UK and Welsh

:02:36.:02:39.

averages but when it comes to pay, it is similar to the rest of Wales.

:02:40.:02:44.

Workers earn around ?4000 a year less than the average employee in

:02:45.:02:48.

the UK. It has been a tough few months for the Wrexham economy. 230

:02:49.:02:55.

people lost their jobs at First cat promo in October. December saw

:02:56.:03:01.

another blow with the news that another 600 jobs would go at the

:03:02.:03:07.

electronics manufacturer, Shark. They were 140 under threat at the

:03:08.:03:15.

start of the year at Kellogg's. Local people in Wrexham say job

:03:16.:03:20.

losses affect the whole town. Lisa Howard manages a nursery in Wrexham.

:03:21.:03:25.

We are lucky that none of our parents work for any of the

:03:26.:03:28.

companies that have closed down because that would have an impact on

:03:29.:03:33.

us as a provider of childcare. It is taking on new staff. The competition

:03:34.:03:40.

for jobs is tough. Misery had fully qualified teachers applying for

:03:41.:03:45.

minimum wage jobs. There has not been many jobs around so when this

:03:46.:03:48.

opportunity came, an opportunity of a lifetime, I had to snap it up

:03:49.:03:53.

because there is nothing here. I am pretty grateful. The concern has

:03:54.:03:59.

been that many of the manufacturing jobs being lost will be replaced by

:04:00.:04:05.

lower skilled, poorer paid, less secure work. The trend is for Wales

:04:06.:04:12.

to be in the service sector. There are over a million people employed

:04:13.:04:17.

in that sector. But we have got very buoyant tourism, leisure. Unions

:04:18.:04:22.

have also raised objections to people being offered zero hours

:04:23.:04:26.

contracts with AI not guaranteed work and under employment with

:04:27.:04:32.

people have jobs are not doing as many hours as they want or need. A

:04:33.:04:38.

lot of employers talk about the need for flexibility. If you have a new

:04:39.:04:41.

contract which requires you to produce 107 more product next week

:04:42.:04:46.

or next month than you did last month, you need to increase your

:04:47.:04:54.

workforce very rapidly. But that might not be sustained work going

:04:55.:05:00.

forward. As with much of Wales, Wrexham has traditionally relied on

:05:01.:05:04.

manufacturing, but it is now usually cheaper to make goods abroad so if

:05:05.:05:09.

they can't be the cheapest, they have got to be the best. The Wrexham

:05:10.:05:18.

-based Moneypenny employs 250 people providing telephone reception for

:05:19.:05:23.

businesses. When it advertised for further job it had a thousand

:05:24.:05:30.

applicants. You have got to continue to change. The people and the

:05:31.:05:36.

economies that have really benefited are the ones that have accepted that

:05:37.:05:39.

change is going to happen and they roll with it. A new employee is one

:05:40.:05:48.

of those who has changed careers. Have the strength to do it and the

:05:49.:05:51.

belief in yourself that no matter how long you have been working in

:05:52.:05:55.

one type of career, you can have a change and still be successful in

:05:56.:06:03.

that career. Some of the themes we often hear

:06:04.:06:06.

talking to businesses about the economy and how it is changing. For

:06:07.:06:11.

example, we hear that there has got to be an upscaling. People have got

:06:12.:06:17.

to be willing to train for different careers. But they also have to have

:06:18.:06:22.

support from the Welsh government, they also need support from

:06:23.:06:26.

businesses who need to be investing in order to delivering the

:06:27.:06:31.

manufacturing we still can deliver. But also embracing other parts of

:06:32.:06:34.

the economy and other sectors of the economy, for example services.

:06:35.:06:38.

Last week the Prime Minister called Wales the UK capital for jobs

:06:39.:06:42.

growth. This is what the UK and Welsh governments had to say about

:06:43.:06:48.

today's figures. We know that this confirms a trend

:06:49.:06:52.

that has been in place for some months now and it shows that Wales

:06:53.:06:58.

is outperforming the rest of the UK. Lower unemployment than England and

:06:59.:07:01.

historically that has been very unusual. It shows that what we are

:07:02.:07:05.

doing as a Welsh government is helping. A year ago, when Wales was

:07:06.:07:11.

lagging badly behind the rest of the UK, they blamed the UK government

:07:12.:07:18.

entirely and said it did nothing to do with us. Now Wales is doing well,

:07:19.:07:27.

suddenly they are rushing forward to take the credit. The truth of the

:07:28.:07:32.

matter is, we are working well in partnership, the two governments

:07:33.:07:36.

must work together in partnership in order for Wales's economy to

:07:37.:07:39.

succeed. David Blackaby is a Professor of

:07:40.:07:42.

Economics at Swansea University. We've just heard the politicians'

:07:43.:07:49.

views there. Who should we credit? It is confirms that create jobs. Bad

:07:50.:07:55.

policy can destroy jobs. We know in Wales in terms of labour market

:07:56.:07:59.

policies, we have the jobs growth fund which has been very

:08:00.:08:03.

successful. The work programme in the UK has been less successful.

:08:04.:08:08.

These programmes usually only make small differences but the Welsh

:08:09.:08:11.

government seems to make a positive impact on the Welsh economy. We have

:08:12.:08:16.

heard concerns from the TUC that there are concerns about zero hours

:08:17.:08:21.

contracts but if you are 22 and you want a job, a job is a job is a job.

:08:22.:08:28.

We know you've unemployment is still over 20% which is far too high. It

:08:29.:08:33.

is important that we get unemployment down. It has economic

:08:34.:08:39.

costs but also social costs because people's health are affected, heart

:08:40.:08:44.

disease, mental health are all badly affected. It is important that we

:08:45.:08:50.

get people into work. In Wales we have people in low jobs which is a

:08:51.:08:54.

concern and that may be the next policy we need to introduce. We have

:08:55.:09:00.

just seen the picture in Wrexham and lots of well, high-end manufacturing

:09:01.:09:04.

jobs lost. The concern is that those kind of jobs are not being replaced.

:09:05.:09:11.

We have been losing manufacturing jobs since the 1970s so it is

:09:12.:09:16.

nothing new. We still have more people employed in manufacturing in

:09:17.:09:21.

Wales than in the rest of the UK and the recent increases are probably

:09:22.:09:26.

related to manufacturing jobs. These jobs have grown over the last year

:09:27.:09:33.

more quickly in Wales than the UK but there is a downward trend in

:09:34.:09:41.

manufacturing. A major business park near Bridgend

:09:42.:09:45.

which is home to Sony has been bought by the Welsh government in a

:09:46.:09:48.

bid to attract new businesses and jobs. Several other life science and

:09:49.:09:51.

technology companies are also located in Pencoed Technology Park,

:09:52.:09:54.

which is just alongside the M4. It's been sold for ?12.3 million.

:09:55.:10:28.

Another referral to the food bank. This time a woman who has three

:10:29.:10:31.

children to feed. It is an emergency. In the last six months,

:10:32.:10:37.

the food bank has held more than 350 people. 40% of them children. Across

:10:38.:10:45.

Wales, almost 80,000 received food. That is more than double the figure

:10:46.:10:50.

for the previous 12 months. All people in need and here they say it

:10:51.:10:56.

is very often a short term need. The majority of our clients don't come

:10:57.:11:00.

back more than once. They might come back once or twice until their

:11:01.:11:06.

problem is sorted. It is not to meet a long-term situation. We don't want

:11:07.:11:12.

to encourage a dependency culture. James works as a volunteer and

:11:13.:11:17.

recently he has had to look for help himself. I put in for a claim of

:11:18.:11:23.

benefits eight weeks ago and I have had one payment in the eight weeks.

:11:24.:11:27.

For six weeks I have not had any money whatsoever. It came to a point

:11:28.:11:33.

on Friday where I had been ill and suffered depression where I came

:11:34.:11:36.

back to the Salvation Army and use a food bank. If you speed to those who

:11:37.:11:43.

run food banks, the word you keep on hearing is crisis. For so many

:11:44.:11:49.

people, any financial cushion they have had disappeared during the

:11:50.:11:53.

recession so when a problem strikes, even buying essentials can become

:11:54.:11:58.

impossible. At the cathedral, they run another of the food banks now

:11:59.:12:03.

open in Wales. They find many to return for help time and again. The

:12:04.:12:08.

biggest cause is welfare changes. The bishop is among those speaking

:12:09.:12:13.

out today. We need to ask why there are so many people dependent on

:12:14.:12:17.

others. We need to look at the way the welfare system is running. There

:12:18.:12:21.

are lots of things that are feeding into the crisis. That word crisis

:12:22.:12:28.

again. A crisis for those in need, certainly, although the UK

:12:29.:12:31.

government questions today's figures. It says the numbers are

:12:32.:12:35.

falling. A businessman from Haverfordwest who

:12:36.:12:38.

died at Withybush Hospital following a routine operation would probably

:12:39.:12:41.

have survived had it not been for a breach of duty, an inquest has

:12:42.:12:44.

heard. Malcolm Green passed away in 2012. The Hywel Dda Health Board has

:12:45.:12:49.

already apologised to his family and says an investigation has been

:12:50.:12:57.

carried out. Cemlyn Davies reports. Malcolm Green was a fit 82-year-old

:12:58.:13:03.

businessman who was awarded the MBE for services to the community. He

:13:04.:13:07.

died at Withybush Hospital a few days after undergoing a routine

:13:08.:13:11.

operation to remove a tumour from his: . Today his sons heard how

:13:12.:13:17.

their father would probably have lived had it not been for what was

:13:18.:13:22.

described as a breach of duty. His operation took place on June 26,

:13:23.:13:29.

2012. Buying for 30 AM the following morning, there were indications

:13:30.:13:34.

something was wrong. His blood pressure had dropped significantly.

:13:35.:13:38.

But it was some hours before medical staff realised he was bleeding

:13:39.:13:42.

internally and he was prepared for emergency surgery. That operation

:13:43.:13:46.

did not get under way for another three hours. He died three days

:13:47.:13:51.

later. This morning, this independent expert said he thought

:13:52.:13:55.

the death was more likely than not aggravated by gross failure to

:13:56.:13:59.

provide basic medical attention in the face of obvious need. The

:14:00.:14:04.

professor of surgery told the inquest he believes that if Malcolm

:14:05.:14:09.

Green had undergone surgery to stem the bleeding before 1015, the

:14:10.:14:15.

multi-organ failure he suffered would have been avoided and he

:14:16.:14:19.

probably would have survived. The Hywel Dda Health Board has

:14:20.:14:22.

apologised to the family, acknowledging that on this occasion

:14:23.:14:25.

the level of care provided fell below the acceptable level. The

:14:26.:14:29.

health board says steps have already been put in place to ensure these

:14:30.:14:34.

failings do not happen again. The coroner will deliver his inclusion

:14:35.:14:40.

in due course. -- conclusion. Much more to come before seven

:14:41.:14:42.

o'clock. Wednesday down the gym - we'll be

:14:43.:14:45.

investigating claims that a government funded drug-testing

:14:46.:14:47.

service is being exploited by steroid dealers.

:14:48.:14:49.

And it's been another beautiful day but there is a change on the way. A

:14:50.:14:52.

full forecast coming up. The number of tourists visiting

:14:53.:15:03.

Wales from the rest of the UK is on the rise, according to a nationwide

:15:04.:15:08.

survey. Figures for last year show that nearly ten million people

:15:09.:15:11.

travelled to Wales despite a dip in the number of trips across the UK as

:15:12.:15:16.

a whole. Our reporter Sachin Krishnan is soaking up the sunshine

:15:17.:15:26.

in Tenby this evening. You join me on a very nice evening

:15:27.:15:30.

in Pembrokeshire. Just over my shoulder you can see one of the

:15:31.:15:38.

local tourist attractions. You get a real sense of just how much the

:15:39.:15:42.

tourism industry is at the heart of much of what happens in this town.

:15:43.:15:47.

Plenty of people will be interested in the survey which has been

:15:48.:15:51.

published today and following those results they will be hoping they are

:15:52.:15:55.

a good sign of things to come. Preparing for another wave of Easter

:15:56.:16:00.

visitors, this hotel is one of those fixtures of Tenby hospitality. Chris

:16:01.:16:04.

Osborne is the third generation of his family to run the hotel and in

:16:05.:16:08.

his time in charge he says he has seen plenty of ups and downs in its

:16:09.:16:14.

fortunes. There has been a phenomenal change over the last 15

:16:15.:16:19.

years. They used a bug for a week or two but now it is a day at a time.

:16:20.:16:24.

The results of the Great Britain tourism survey which looks at people

:16:25.:16:28.

from the UK visiting other parts of the UK appears to show Wales

:16:29.:16:32.

punching above its weight. But in a UK trend of falling figures, 9.9

:16:33.:16:39.

million people came here last year. A rise of 3.4%. And the amount of

:16:40.:16:46.

money they spent was ?1.7 billion, another rise, this time of 7%. On a

:16:47.:16:52.

visit to a brand-new leisure and restaurant development in

:16:53.:16:54.

Saundersfoot, the economy minister said those within the UK tourism

:16:55.:16:58.

industry had at their game in recent years. The important thing is the

:16:59.:17:02.

level of quality of experience we now offer in Wales. This is a

:17:03.:17:08.

beautiful new project, we can look at the quality of the building, the

:17:09.:17:12.

beautiful views, and this is what people want. A successful tourism

:17:13.:17:17.

industry does not just affect those who provide the hotel rooms or run

:17:18.:17:22.

the restaurant. This is a deli in Tenby town centre and a large

:17:23.:17:25.

percentage of what they sell is produced locally so would be a

:17:26.:17:29.

success as well as that of their suppliers is very much tied into the

:17:30.:17:35.

town. Tenby as a whole is just tourist -based. It is very quiet

:17:36.:17:39.

after season. It comes alive during summer and Christmas and the deli

:17:40.:17:44.

now is really pushing for the summer trade. As far as tourism goes, Tenby

:17:45.:17:49.

holds true for many places across Wales. It needs the visitors to come

:17:50.:17:55.

to be successful and just as important is providing an experience

:17:56.:17:58.

that means they will come back again and again.

:17:59.:18:04.

Picking up on that last point, if you have ever driven to this part of

:18:05.:18:08.

Wales, you will be familiar with the a 47/7, a notorious stretch of road

:18:09.:18:18.

in the past -- Alpha 427. Today, the hope is that by improving the travel

:18:19.:18:24.

experience, it will mean people are encouraged to come to praise is like

:18:25.:18:32.

Saundersfoot and Tenby -- A477. A man who knocked down and killed

:18:33.:18:36.

two cyclists in a stolen car while being followed by police has been

:18:37.:18:39.

jailed for ten years. Reading Crown Court heard how Alexander Farrar

:18:40.:18:42.

Walters, who's originally from Grangetown in Cardiff, was two and a

:18:43.:18:45.

half times over the drink drive limit. At a previous trial for fraud

:18:46.:18:49.

in Cardiff, Mr Walters was described as a career criminal who had forged

:18:50.:18:54.

a fantasy life. Nick Palit reports. This was Alexander Farrar Walter at

:18:55.:19:00.

18 back in 2001. Here at Merthyr Crown Court, he was sentenced to two

:19:01.:19:03.

years custody after phoning a bomb hoax to Heathrow Airport. He made

:19:04.:19:08.

that call just days after the 9/11 terror attacks on the United States.

:19:09.:19:13.

Not long after he served that sentence and he was back in court

:19:14.:19:17.

again, this time at Cardiff Crown Court after admitting 15 counts of

:19:18.:19:22.

fraud and two of theft. He'd tried to fly first class to Australia on

:19:23.:19:26.

forged tickets and funded other lavish holidays with false cheques.

:19:27.:19:30.

The judge here at Cardiff Crown Court jailed him for three years and

:19:31.:19:34.

told him at 21 he'd already forged an interesting career in crime. But

:19:35.:19:41.

his defence team said his offending was partly due to his upbringing. He

:19:42.:19:46.

was brought up in a Soviet orphanage before being adopted by a Welsh

:19:47.:19:52.

vicar. The judge told him he was intelligent enough to do something

:19:53.:19:56.

better with his life but today he was back in court facing his most

:19:57.:20:01.

serious offences to date. This afternoon, at Reading Crown Court,

:20:02.:20:04.

he pleaded guilty to seven counts, including two charges of causing

:20:05.:20:10.

death by dangerous driving. Cyclists John Morland and Kris Jarvis were

:20:11.:20:13.

killed in the village of Purley on Thames after Walters ploughed into

:20:14.:20:19.

them in a stolen BMW convertible. Tonight, this adopted son of a Welsh

:20:20.:20:22.

vicar is beginning a ten year sentence.

:20:23.:20:27.

A fire at a recycling plant on the outskirts of Cardiff last month is

:20:28.:20:32.

being treated as arson. The blaze in Wentloog went on for five days after

:20:33.:20:36.

more than 2,000 tonnes of plastic and wood were set alight.

:20:37.:20:41.

The Welsh government has insisted a drug-testing service it funds isn't

:20:42.:20:47.

being exploited by steroid dealers. Wedinos is run by Public Health

:20:48.:20:50.

Wales and is designed to tackle the increase in new psychoactive

:20:51.:20:52.

substances, better known as legal highs. But now there are concerns

:20:53.:20:58.

steroid dealers are using test results from Wedinos to market their

:20:59.:21:02.

product. Here's our political reporter, Paul Martin.

:21:03.:21:10.

Working hard to maintain a Peak physique. This woman has never used

:21:11.:21:15.

steroids to Elba chinos many who have. I think it is a growing

:21:16.:21:22.

problem. I train in lots of different gyms all over South Wales

:21:23.:21:25.

and you can tell by the shape of the people and the size of people. Men

:21:26.:21:30.

like the thickness of the muscle and that is what it gives them. It is a

:21:31.:21:36.

quick fix. Anabolic steroids are prescription only. It is not illegal

:21:37.:21:41.

to possess them for personal use but they are a class C drug so dealing

:21:42.:21:46.

them is a criminal friends. The maximum sentence is 14 years in

:21:47.:21:52.

prison. Regular use of steroids can cause serious side effects like

:21:53.:21:57.

infertility, high blood pressure, heart attacks, aggressive behaviour

:21:58.:22:00.

and mood swings. Since its launch last year, the Wedinos lab, designed

:22:01.:22:07.

to test legal highs, has received around 800 samples. Several results

:22:08.:22:12.

showed steroids have been tested and now there is concern it is being

:22:13.:22:18.

exploited by steroid dealers. Wedinos is being referred to

:22:19.:22:21.

regularly on Internet body-building forums as a place to get steroids

:22:22.:22:25.

tested. One contributor says his dealer told him, we will be sending

:22:26.:22:31.

in one tab every product we make to Wedinos. And there are other

:22:32.:22:37.

examples. Another person says he bought a steroid because it checked

:22:38.:22:41.

out on Wedinos. And this example, I am praying Wedinos test the sample.

:22:42.:22:48.

It looks as though people are using this to endorse the quality of their

:22:49.:22:51.

products and that can cause significant harm to those people who

:22:52.:22:54.

then take those products. Although this website was established with

:22:55.:22:58.

every good intention, I think it is starting to go fishing. But when

:22:59.:23:04.

drugs charity is said Wedinos is right to test whatever it receives.

:23:05.:23:14.

If somebody has been given a substance which they feel they are

:23:15.:23:19.

using for whatever reason, they should have the same level of access

:23:20.:23:24.

to test what they are taking. The Welsh government and Public Health

:23:25.:23:29.

Wales say Wedinos does not report on substance purity and its

:23:30.:23:32.

accessibility helps get harm reduction messages to those most at

:23:33.:23:34.

risk. Welsh swimmer Jazz Carlin claimed

:23:35.:23:37.

her second title of the British Championships in Glasgow last night

:23:38.:23:40.

as she won the 400m freestyle, having already triumphed in the 800m

:23:41.:23:44.

freestyle. Carlin, who's based in Swansea, says it was an emotional

:23:45.:23:48.

night as she bid farewell to her coach, Bud McAllister, who's leaving

:23:49.:23:59.

to work in Australia. I feel really emotional. It is

:24:00.:24:04.

really hard to hold back the tears because I feel he has really

:24:05.:24:08.

developed to me. It is when you have that special relationship with a

:24:09.:24:12.

coach, you can make magic, you can do great things in the pool and I am

:24:13.:24:16.

so grateful that I have had him for seven years.

:24:17.:24:21.

With Mark Williams and Matthew Stevens failing to qualify for the

:24:22.:24:24.

World Championships, in tomorrow's programme, we will be asking, is

:24:25.:24:29.

there a crisis in world snooker? Wales was once a leader in the game

:24:30.:24:37.

but now with a decline in fewer clothes -- close, we will be

:24:38.:24:40.

investigating tomorrow. The sun is shining. Will it last to

:24:41.:24:45.

the weekend? Derek's down by the river.

:24:46.:24:47.

It's a lovely evening. Unfortunately it's not going to be as nice as this

:24:48.:24:53.

tomorrow. There is a change on the way. Nothing major but you will

:24:54.:24:57.

notice a difference. A front is heading south and that will bring

:24:58.:25:00.

cloud, spots of light rain and drizzle. But it's only a blip

:25:01.:25:04.

because more sunshine is on the cards for Good Friday and Saturday.

:25:05.:25:09.

This evening, dry and fine with increasing cloud. Late in the night,

:25:10.:25:13.

thicker cloud will bring drizzle to the northwest. Elsewhere dry and not

:25:14.:25:19.

as cold as recent nights. The lowest temperature around four Celsius.

:25:20.:25:24.

Tomorrow will not be as nice as today. A bright start in the

:25:25.:25:30.

southeast. Elsewhere will be cloudy. A little rain and drizzle dying out

:25:31.:25:35.

as it moves south-east. Becoming dry and brighter during the afternoon.

:25:36.:25:40.

Cooler than today, especially on the north and west coast. Top

:25:41.:25:44.

temperatures of 11 to 15 Celsius with a breeze. Tomorrow evening, the

:25:45.:25:48.

odd shower in the north otherwise a dry night. The cloud clearing and a

:25:49.:25:54.

colder night. A widespread ground frost in the countryside with the

:25:55.:25:59.

odd mist patch. The chart for Good Friday shows a ridge of high

:26:00.:26:02.

pressure over the UK and that means settled weather. So the forecast for

:26:03.:26:07.

Friday is good. Any morning mist will clear, leaving a dry day. Lots

:26:08.:26:12.

of sunshine with a few clouds. Temperatures rising to 13 Celsius

:26:13.:26:15.

with light winds and sea breezes. Saturday will be another dry day. A

:26:16.:26:20.

sunny start with cumulus clouds building-up as temperatures rise.

:26:21.:26:25.

The high around 13 Celsius with a light to mod breeze. Sunday may

:26:26.:26:29.

start dry and bright in the west but then go downhill with low pressure

:26:30.:26:33.

and rain spreading west across the country. The wind picking-up as

:26:34.:26:37.

well, making it feel cold. So, Good Friday and Saturday the best days of

:26:38.:26:40.

the Easter weekend if you're planning a picnic, BBQ or a trip to

:26:41.:26:45.

the sea side. It could change but at the moment it looks like an umbrella

:26:46.:26:49.

will come in handy on Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday. So, a change

:26:50.:26:54.

tomorrow, much cloudier with spots of rain dying out. A fine start to

:26:55.:26:59.

the holiday weekend but the signs are it won't last.

:27:00.:27:06.

Tonight's headlines. A ferry carrying hundreds of schoolchildren

:27:07.:27:13.

has capsized and sunk off the coast of South Korea. 164 people have been

:27:14.:27:18.

rescued by almost 300 are still missing. Five are confirmed dead but

:27:19.:27:23.

that number is expected to rise considerably.

:27:24.:27:27.

Unemployment has fallen again in Wales. 102,000 people are out of

:27:28.:27:33.

work. That is 6000 fewer than the last quarter.

:27:34.:27:36.

I'll have an update for you here at 8.00pm and again after the BBC News

:27:37.:27:39.

at 10.00pm. That's Wales Today. Thank you for watching. Have a good

:27:40.:27:41.

evening.
