Good evening. Wales could receive more money from the Treasury under a

Labour UK government. That's the claim from the Shadow Scottish

Secretary. Margaret Curran said the formula for funding the devolved

nations would not change. But she said Labour would recognise Wales'

"claim to extra resources". Daniel Davies reports.

It determines how much Wales has two spend on public services, including

schools and hospitals. Known as the Barnett formula, it has been around

since the 1970s, proof according to some that it has stood the test of

time. But Labour ministers in Cardiff Bay disagree. They say the

system short-changes the Welsh Government, and they want a new one.

On the campaign trail, Ed Miliband said a Labour UK government would

keep the Barnett formula, which sets the Scottish budget as well. But Mr

Miliband also said Labour would look at claims that Wales loses out. One

of his Shadow Cabinet members, campaigning against Scottish

independence, said Labour recognises that there is a specific set of

funding issues in Wales. Does that mean more funding for devolved

services in Wales? I think that looks the more devolving in the

future. But Ed Miliband has recognised the very specific issue

in relation to Wales. Not to resolve that at the expense of Scotland as

some claim, but that Welsh issues are addressed. Today's Sunday Herald

became the first paper to called for a yes vote in the independence

referendum. Mr Miliband says if he gets to Downing Street, he will not

change things for Scotland. The challenge is to keep things as they

are in Scotland while satisfying Welsh Labour ministers who want what

they called funding. A 42-year-old man from the Port

Talbot area has been arrested in connection with allegations of

'malicious communication' following the death of the teacher Ann Maguire

at a school in Leeds. Mrs Maguire died after suffering multiple stab

wounds on Monday. A 15-year-old boy has been charged with her murder.

The Chair of Governors at a school at the centre of an alleged murder

plot says he's proud of the way staff reacted when concerns were

first raised. Police were called to Cwmcarn High School on Thursday to

investigate the behaviour of two pupils. Maths teacher Alison Cray,

who's understood to have been the intended target, has also praised

the school. Two girls, aged 14 and 15, were arrested and have since

been bailed. Football and Cardiff City manager

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says he wants to stay with the club to return them

to the Premier League. City were relegated yesterday after just one

season in the top flight. Here's Sachin Krishnan.

Almost a year ago to the day, Cardiff City fans were out on the

streets looking forward to their Premier League adventure. 12 months

on, they are facing up to relegation following a 3-0 defeat at Newcastle.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was brought in to keep Cardiff up. Does

he want to read next season's challenge in the Championship?

Definitely. We have had four seasons prior to this one at the top of the

Championship. Now we have taken a step back, it is about showing

character and bouncing straight back. They have been precious few

highlights for fans this season. The former manager's departure did

little for the relationship between the fans and the chairman. Vincent

Tan and the club should say we should change the blue as soon as

possible. That is one way for making up for a disappointing season.

Despite defeat in their final match of the season, the signs are that

Gary Monk has done enough to earn the Swansea city manager's job on a

permanent basis. An announcement could be made before the final match

against Sunderland. I am disappointed end it in a situation

where we did not deserve to lose the game. We will have to deal with it.

Also yesterday a solid return to the Football League for Newport County,

with a 2-1 win over Rochdale and 14th place finish in league two.

Disappointment as well today for Cardiff City Ladies FC. They were

beaten 6-2 by Sheffield in the final of the Premier League Cup.

Onto rugby and Pontypridd and Cross Keys are battling it out for the

Swalec Cup at the Millennium Stadium. Ponty grabbed the first try

and led 11-3 at half time. With 20 minutes to go, the latest score is

14-3 to Pontypridd. Time for the weather forecast.

warm southerly are being brought in, highs of 15 Celsius along the North
