A major investigation into the failings of

South Wales Police following the murder of Lynette White 26 years

Three men were wrongly convicted of her murder.

This latest report was carried out after Britain's biggest police

Tony Parris is one of the original Cardiff Three -

men wrongly convicted and jailed for the murder of Lynette White.

Back on Valentine's Day 1988, Miss White, who was 20 at the time,

was found murdered in this Butetown flat.

Despite reports of a white man seen fleeing the scene,

It wasn't until 1992 that Tony Parris,

Yusef Abdulahi and Stephen Miller had their convictions quashed.

Advances in DNA finally led to the arrest

After that a new inquiry was launched into what went wrong with

Eight former South Wales officers were charged with perverting

the course of justice - the biggest case of its kind

However, their trial collapsed when it was thought evidence files

The missing paperwork later turned up.

Following the collapse of the trial, a large number of complaints were

The Devon and Cornwall force were asked to investigate perjury,

conspiracy and other allegations of misconduct.

Today, the operation published their findings and most

The report concluded there was no evidence of criminality or

misconduct by officers, although it did recommend 34 different areas

in which South Wales Police could improve their procedures in future.

South Wales Police said the report reflected the good faith

and professional leadership with which officers approached

the important investigation into the earlier police inquiry.

The Police and Crime Commissioner says the report's findings are

reassuring and points the finger for the collapse of the trial

in this cold weather system, which will bring cloudier conditions and

Still warm with a top temperature of 29 Celsius. Little chance of that in

Wales tomorrow. We are stuck under the cloud and rain. The rain will

it through and we will see something a bit drier for Anglesey and

Pembrokeshire. It is a wet start for parts of the south-east on Saturday

but the rain band will clear and the afternoon is not looking too bad. We

can look forward to some sunshine but there is the risk of the odd
