after an armed siege in the top floor restaurant

of the tallest building in Wales. Police were called to the Meridian

Tower in Swansea at 16:00PM this afternoon,

after a man was taken hostage No one was injured,

hovering above. The 90m Meridian Tower is

a landmark on the Swansea skyline and is Wales' tallest building,

housing numerous luxury apartments. Residents were told to stay indoors

and then the lives were closed. After two hours a man was tasered,

arrested and a handgun was recovered. I can confirm a hostage

situation occurred on the 28th floor. Officers were called at 4pm

this evening, where a man had entered a public area and held

another male hostage and was in possession of a firearm. We are very

professional and well trained officers who have in their

possession, what we call less lethal options and Taser is a special

device which we can deploy safely to secure an individual. This has been

a tense and dangerous situation and it is successful.

The Armed siege meant Police closed off roads in and out

of the marina for several hours and that caused traffic chaos.

In January the County Council road cash payments made to Mr Jones and

another senior officer were unlawful. Four months later a police

further action to reclaim the money, worth more than ?45,000. A

week later a new police investigation was launched, after

fresh information emerged. It is not the first time we have seen scenes

like this. In 2012, staff at another council staged protests against an

lawful protest to their chief executives. Back in Pembrokeshire,

unions say more council workers would have come out today, but staff

were reluctant to demonstrate in public. Morale is poor. With trust

and confidence, we have conducted a ballot and within a week we turned

that around. We had 98% votes no saying they had no confidence in the

chief officer. Believers shiver the council said it is doing a good job

and improving services by keeping taxes down. The union representative

of Staffs has said they have lost confidence at the man at the top.

Someone who is unhappy is Steve Joseph, he left the council 's

ruling Independent group. He did not want to speak on camera but told me

staff morale in County Hall was low. The council declined to comment

today, like all authorities it is frozen staff pay and faces cutbacks.

It is also not alone in contracting controversy over the size of

salaries. Should the most senior official in the building step aside

from his job while the police investigate, some people clearly

think so. On the penultimate day

of the National Eisteddfod in Llanelli, some of Wales sporting
