A deal has been agreed between the Welsh Rugby Union

After months of intense negotiations,

much of them bitter and played out publicly the agreement will see

an increase in the amount of Union funding to the regions who have

described the deal as a positive step forward for the game here.

Conflict, rivalry, hostility. It is what makes Welsh is so engaging that

it is supposed to happen on the pitch, not of it. For 18 months, the

professional game has stirred on the edge of a precipice. It has been

pulled back today. A row over money and power has been resolved. A new

participation agreement has been signed and the huge sigh of relief

has been breathed. I would like to thank everyone involved in these

negotiations, particularly my counterpart was up we have spent

months in a room and we have agreed. Hopefully, it will work for

all the fans in Wales. The old agreement set out how much money the

regions received from the union. That will remain the same. But an

additional ?2 million has been ring fenced to fund do well contract for

ten internationals. Only those playing in Wales were considered and

the list is thought to include ten names. Sam Warburton and Alun Wyn

Jones are heading the list. Perhaps the most surprising inclusion is New

Zealand raised Gareth and scum. -- Gareth. Several international

players have enjoyed periods in France. But they miss -- may miss

out on Welsh selection in future. This will encourage players to stay

here it ordered to play for their country. It has not been ideal but

when you see the context of the agreement, you knew there was a lot

to thrash out. It was painful to watch at times. Thankfully, it is

done. We have lost three or four players. They may have stayed if

this was an the table soon. Hopefully, we can get a few back in

the coming years and keep the talent we have. Despite professional rugby

in Wales being pulled back from the brink of the abyss, there were no

signs of champagne corks popping today. No outward signs of

travellers from either side. A deal has been signed but there are some

open wounds between both parties that may take some time to heal.

The Leader of Swansea Council has tonight resigned from the post.

A 30-year-old woman has been charged with arson with intent to endanger

life, after two children were rescued from a burning house

in Ruabon, near Wrexham. Neighbours helped a 10 year old girl

- and a seven-year-old boy from the fire in the early hours

of yesterday morning. A long time campaigner

against child abuse has been sacked from Wrexham council's executive

board after raising concerns Malcolm King says he was contacted

by social workers who were concerned about their case load, and

the way their department was run. The council's leader says

an independent investigation found there was no evidence to support

the allegations which were having There's just a week to go

until Wales hopes to impress the world by hosting the NATO Summit

at the Celtic Manor in Newport. Across the country businesses are

working to make it a success but as our economics correspondent

Sarah Dickins reports, it's hoped the economic benefits will last

more than just the few days that The excitement

around the news that Wales was to host the NATO Summit was a bit

like Newport had hit a jackpot. A bonanza was about to begin.

Businesses would have a second Christmas.

On a site in Cwmbran is the butchery business Douglas Willis.

Set up in 1940, three generations of the Willis family are still

involved in the company. With 45 workers, they supply hotels

and restaurants across South Wales and are one of the biggest food

suppliers to the Celtic Manor, which is hosting the Summit.

In a normal week, they sell them about 700 kilos of meet.

The hotel is so busy all the time. They have eight kitchens there, so

all of them are going to be full. Yes, it might be a bit more for

certain kitchens, but overall, we'll probably be doing the same amount.

The Summit, expected to be five times bigger than the Ryder Cup,

is good for this business. But ironically, it isn't delivering

many orders from the Celtic Manor. Although other hotels they

supply are busier than normal. In the heart of the capital,

the security barricades are up around the castle to protect world

leaders inside, but, some say, damaging businesses outside.

For 35 years, tourists crossed the road

from the castle to buy gifts here. Certainly with ourselves, it would

probably be a good three weeks with a turnover down something like 30%.

The message from small independent shops in the

heart of Cardiff is that the Summit is already denting their business.

But in the long term, the hope is that the delegations

and the world leaders will return to their nations with the idea that

Wales is a good place to invest in, a good place to do business.

And in those terms, it will be good for all of us.

One of Wales' top chefs is playing an active part in promoting Wales

and its products. Steven Terry has won Michelin stars

and many other awards for his cooking in Wales and London.

He and his team at the Hardwick outside Abergavenny have now been

chosen to cook for the three most select banquets of the Summit.

They've designed the menus, sending a strong message about modern Wales.

What Wales has to offer is as good as anywhere in the world,

you know, if not better. The produce that we're showcasing is

largely local produce around this area.

They will all benefit from that. The Summit is a good opportunity to

freshen up the way other parts of the world think of Wales,

how the nation is branded. It will take many more months

before we know whether the Summit has improved that.

They will be a few showers around in mid Wales but dry and bright weather

as well with princes of sunshine in parts of the South West. Into

Sunday, a lot of dry and bright weather. Some sunshine and spots of

light rain and drizzle around in the middle of the day. It should feel a

shade warmer with temperatures around 17 Celsius at 220 Celsius.

Next week, high pressure on the way building across Wales. It will begin

to warm up with some September sunshine as well. In the meantime,
