A father and his seven year old have died,

after they were hit by a car while crossing a road in South Wales.

It happened on a dual carriageway near Talbot Green,

Eye witnesses say the road is dangerous for pedestrians,

A single bunch of roses today marked the scene of the accident.

This busy road runs between the M4 and Talbot Green.

The father who is said to have been 43 and his son were crossing

the southbound carriageway near to the entrance of the

Arthur Llewellyn Jenkins furniture store when they were hit.

Bryan George lives close to the road said he had seen them with other

members of their family walking along and singing minutes before.

He believes they were trying to cross at this point because there

Firefighters have been tackling a fire at

a wood recycling centre in Newport Docks since yesterday afternoon.

Around 20 thousand tonnes of wood chippings caught fire

Police presence at UK ports has been stepped up in the wake of events

Following last month 's terror attacks in Paris the UK Government

has carried out a review of security at all ports but there are concerns

that it is too much attention is paid to the larger cross Channel

ports like Dover they could be less focused elsewhere. The police and

crime commission said it was important not to open the back door
