Good evening.

Police say Jordan Miers, who went missing after a night out

in Swansea on Saturday night, was last seen heading

towards a footpath running alongside the River Tawe.

Today, efforts have been stepped up to try to find the 21-year-old.

Our reporter Ben Price has been following developments.

An anxious and worrying time for those watching on today as more

police specialists were deployed to carry out a search of the

River Tawe.

Since Sunday afternoon, around a mile and a half stretch

of the river has been searched both on and off the water.

Jordan Miers was last seen walking past the Toys R Us store

in the Parc Tawe retail park and then

shortly afterwards at the junction of Quay Parade.

It is understood he was followed by another person for a short

distance and they saw him making his way onto the footpath

along the river.

The witness was concerned due to the intoxicated manner of Jordan.

That gave them cause for concern for them and following him

because they were concerned about his safety.

A team of police divers have been searching

this stretch of the River Tawe for most of the morning.

It wasn't far from here that Jordan Miers was last seen

just after ten o'clock on Saturday night.

It's believed he was planning to walk home, just a couple of miles

up the road to Bonymaen but he didn't make it back

and there are still very few clues as to what has happened.

A university graduate and a youth coach at a local football club,

those who know him best have described Jordan as a popular

and unassuming young man.

His disappearance they say is completely out of character.

He is described as being over six foot tall and on Saturday night

he was wearing light blue jeans, a blue shirt under

a burgundy jumper and tan leather shoes.

During the past few days friends of Jordan's family have also joined

officers as searches have

taken place near the river and in the wider area.

We'll continue to search in the short-term aroud that area

to make sure we have covered each of the areas we need to.

Obviously, we are appealing for information for further

sightings of him and on that evening, which would allow us

to concentrate our search on potentially other areas

that he may be as well.

For those who know Jordan best it is an extremely difficult time.

As the hours go by the concern for his well-being

continues to grow.

A body has been discovered following a fire at a workshop in Rhyl.

Emergency crews were called to the building on Vale Road just

before five o'clock this evening.

Nearby properties were evacuated during the blaze.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is now underway.

Police say a man whose remains were found in forestry

in Conwy County died in suspicious circumstances and suffered

serious head injuries.

The remains which were found near Cerrigydrudion in November

are believed to have been there for several years and belonged

to a man in his fifties.

The number of families asking for help following adoption

here is rising.

That's according to figures seen by BBC Wales.

Around 400 children were adopted in the last year and with more

people coming forward to adopt there are concerns it's too

difficult to access services like counselling.

One mother, who did not want to be identified,

has spoken about the battles she faced to prevent her

relationship with her son breaking down completely.

Would get kicked and punched and head-butted and all

that kind of stuff quite regularly.

A lot of other adoptive parents I know

say they find the same thing, they feel they have got to battle

for any kind of services.

When you're already really stressed and struggling at home you just have

another battle but this time with professionals to tray and get

the help that you need.

More people in Powys could end up needing a so-called pauper's funeral

because burials will be too expensive.

That's the warning from local undertakers as the council prepares

to increase its charges for a typical adult burial by 65%

on the first of January.

The authority says it has no other option, as it tries to raise money

in the face of budget cuts.

A National Planetarium and Observatory for Wales could be

built on the former site of the Maerdy colliery

in the Rhondda.

Experts say the area benefits from its proximity

to the Brecon Beacons which has designated Dark Skies status.

If it goes ahead it could create more than 60 jobs.

Lifeboat volunteers based in St Asaph who saved two little

boys from their flooded bungalow in the middle of the night,

have been back to give them a very special Christmas present.

Five-year-old Sebastian and his three-year-old brother Jacob

were trapped in their grandparents' home at the height of the floods in

Cumbria.

One of them was sleeping through it.

We had to wake them up.

Yes, at first they didn't want to come with us but once one

of the lads promised them helmets and a ride

in the tractor they were quite happy to come.

The Cardiff Devils remain at the top of ice hockey's Elite League

despite losing 2-0 against the Belfast Giants tonight.

The Devils are now just three points clear of the Nottingham Panthers

in the table.

We enjoyed some better weather today.

Some sunshine, still a few heavy showers and the weather

remains very changeable.

There is more rain and strong winds on the way tonight.

The wind strengthening overnight with gales

developing, guests around 80 miles an hour in Snowdonia.

Later in the night, a cold front will bring a spell of heavy rain.

Over Christmas Eve, a wet and windy start first thing

but the rain will clear durng the morning and then it

will brighten up with some sunshine but

a few sharp showers.

Across the rest of the UK tomorrow, a band of heavy

rain and gusty winds will move eastwards and clear.

Behind that, brighter skies, sunshine and scattered showers.

Severe gales in the far north and north-west of Scotland

and the showers wintry on high ground,

especially in the north.

Temperatures only six Celsius in Belfast, 13 in London.

In Wales tomorrow afternoon, a mixture of sunshine and showers.

Some showers heavy and cold enough on the high ground for a little snow

on the Brecon Beacons.

It will feel chilly tomorrow with a gusty

south-westerly wind, 8-11 Celsius.

On Christmas Eve night some more showers

but also some dry, clear weather as well.

The wind easing and a cold night.

Then for Christmas Day itself, a dry and bright start in the north

but more rain will spread from the south, some heavy bursts

of rain likely.

After a chilly start it will turn milder but windy again.

Boxing Day will continue mild and windy, further outbreaks

of rain and drizzle.

There is some risk of heavy rain and further flooding in parts

of the north and north-west.

So, it would be worth keeping a close eye on the forecast

over the next few days especially if you are travelling.

Wet and windy at times, still no sign yet of any

cold, frosty weather on the horizon.
