A cleanup operation is taking place across North Wales

following yesterday's flooding.

Residents in Gwynedd and Anglesey have been assessing the damage

to their homes, and the A55 dual carriageway -

which was shut near Bangor - has now been re-opened.

Today, there have been calls for the Welsh Government

to take action.

Jennifer Jones has the latest.

Flood water being pumped out of the cellars of a high street.

This resilient town is once again open for business

despite the flooding yesterday and today's cleanup operation.

We had farmers down with tractors, we had all the locals out.

We had sandbags.

Basically we had to make do with what we had.

Yes, we had properties which went underwater,

which is not what you want, but had the people not come out,

it would have been a lot worse.

The high velocity pump in attendance on Anglesey came from Newtown

in Powys, they were told that the appliance from Llandudno

could not get to the island because the A55 in Bangor was shut.

It is not the first time the stretch of the coastal area has flooded

and now opposition parties are calling for the Welsh Government

to take action.

They have not done the necessary work to make sure that this vital

artery into the north-west of Wales remains open after heavy rain.

Now this is it, this must be the last time that this happens

because it is a risk to lives as well as being a major

inconvenience for this part of Wales.

The Welsh Government has said it has invested significantly in flood risk

management schemes in North Wales and will now work with local

authorities to see what additional action can be taken to speed up

the work to protect homes and motorists.

That cannot come soon enough for the people of this area whose

homes were affected.

Nor for the motorists who were stranded as five main

A roads were shut in Gwynedd.

The roads have now re-opened and residents are returning to them.

But the damage cannot be fixed overnight.

It has taken 20 years to restore this walled botanical garden.

And now the work starts all over again.

The lower wall has collapsed and as you can see, it has taken

everything with it.

It has flooded down the valley and we have found pieces

of the walled garden, right down at the bottom

of the valley in the river.

We have had thousands of people ringing up to support me.

Sorry, I am absolutely devastated.

As Anthony thinks about replanting his garden,

there remain four more flood warnings in place in Wales tonight.

Forecasters predict more rain over the next few days.

Police in Caerphilly are investigating after thieves

broke into a church on Christmas Day.

They tried to steal a safe but abandoned it in the car park.

But they did get away with hundreds of pounds worth

of computer equipment.

Parishioners have rallied round to fix the damage.

I was really sad to hear that news, I think that is really diabolical.

At any time of the year especially, but at this time, terrible.

I think it is absolutely shocking.

I am sure that the church will rally around and people will come

to the aid of the church, I would imagine.

Rugby, and in another tense Pro12 Christmas derby,

the Blues snatched the win from the Dragons at Rodney Parade.

Rhys Patchell landed a last minute penalty to make

the final score 21-20.

The Dragons had been leading all the way but let their rivals
