hundreds of steel jobs are set to go across the country. | :00:12. | :00:17.
BBC Wales understands details of the plan | :00:18. | :00:19.
are expected to be made public next week. | :00:20. | :00:21.
Most of the jobs are expected to be lost at the Tata steelworks | :00:22. | :00:24.
It's very important work, they are a very highly skilled, highly | :00:25. | :00:34.
motivated workforce. You become very attached to them. | :00:35. | :00:47.
Concerns the billion pound tidal lagoon planned | :00:48. | :00:49.
here in Swansea won't generate as much energy as promised. | :00:50. | :00:53.
Starting to see results - after three years education services | :00:54. | :00:56.
in Monmouthshire are out of special measures. | :00:57. | :01:01.
This cello was owned by a Band Sergeant who died | :01:02. | :01:03.
We'll have details of a Welsh football club placed | :01:04. | :01:13.
And the Welsh Premier reaches its halfway point - | :01:14. | :01:17.
a crucial weekend for teams before the league splits into two. | :01:18. | :01:28.
For weeks there have been fears for the Welsh steel industry, | :01:29. | :01:37.
and tonight BBC Wales can reveal Tata - which employs 6,000 | :01:38. | :01:40.
steelworkers in Wales - is expected to announce hundreds | :01:41. | :01:42.
Most of those posts are expected to go at the firm's | :01:43. | :01:46.
Sources have told us the move is part of a plan to safeguard jobs | :01:47. | :01:51.
Our political reporter, Cemlyn Davies, has | :01:52. | :01:54.
The British Steel industry is in crisis. In recent months, thousands | :01:55. | :02:02.
of workers have lost their jobs in Scotland and the North of England | :02:03. | :02:06.
and the focus is now on Wales. At Port Talbot where Tater steel | :02:07. | :02:12.
employed thousands. The plant is reported to lose ?1 million per day. | :02:13. | :02:18.
An announcement on job losses here and across Wales could be made as | :02:19. | :02:22.
early as next week. The number of jobs lost could be as high as in the | :02:23. | :02:28.
high hundreds but less than a thousand. This man has worked for 44 | :02:29. | :02:35.
years at the steelworks. You expect something in the next few days. A | :02:36. | :02:42.
blow for me as a person. It is an emotional thing. After 44 years you | :02:43. | :02:47.
become attached to the place. It goes without saying that Tata is the | :02:48. | :02:55.
biggest employer in the area. People tell me that it does a lot more than | :02:56. | :03:02.
supporting individual families but sustains the community. I work in a | :03:03. | :03:09.
cafe. The money generated by the steelworks brings our customers. | :03:10. | :03:18.
Absolutely essential to this town. Once the steelworks goes, you will | :03:19. | :03:22.
be looking at a further demise of our town. Tata says any announcement | :03:23. | :03:31.
will be made to the workforce first but local politicians are braced for | :03:32. | :03:35.
bad news. It is clear there has been a perfect storm hitting the steel | :03:36. | :03:40.
industry. The result is the steel industry has to restructure and look | :03:41. | :03:46.
at its costs. It has to weather the storm. I am convinced that with the | :03:47. | :03:50.
trade unions and the government and Tater steel working constructively | :03:51. | :03:56.
with each other we can weather the storm, ride it out and come back | :03:57. | :04:07.
stronger. Tata employs 6000 people across Wales but the vast majority | :04:08. | :04:12.
are based in Port Tolbert. The economy minister met with company | :04:13. | :04:16.
bosses at a prearranged visit to Deeside this morning but wouldn't be | :04:17. | :04:22.
drawn on possible job losses. I don't comment on rumours. There are | :04:23. | :04:28.
so many rumours that it wouldn't be unfair to comment. If there are any | :04:29. | :04:32.
issues, the company will want to deal with their workforce first. If | :04:33. | :04:39.
we have any announcement from the company, the government will respond | :04:40. | :04:43.
appropriately. Unions say they are broadly satisfied with the Welsh | :04:44. | :04:48.
government's attempts to protect steelworkers. The UK Government told | :04:49. | :04:53.
as it has been proactive in helping the steel industry by cutting energy | :04:54. | :04:59.
costs and taking action on imports, for example. It seems, that hasn't | :05:00. | :05:04.
been enough to protect Welsh steelworkers whose future this | :05:05. | :05:10.
evening is more uncertain than ever. Let's speak to Brian at the | :05:11. | :05:15.
steelworks in Port Talbot. The final decision will likely be made in | :05:16. | :05:16.
India. It certainly will. I believe that we | :05:17. | :05:26.
are going to hear early next week that between 500 and 800 jobs will | :05:27. | :05:32.
be lost yet at Tata in Port Talbot and there will be other job losses | :05:33. | :05:37.
in Wales. We heard in the report that it is losing ?1 million per day | :05:38. | :05:43.
here. One of the big things that they have held onto here is that | :05:44. | :05:49.
there has been huge amounts of investment and patients from the | :05:50. | :05:54.
Indian headquarters who have seen whether they can get a return on | :05:55. | :05:59.
that money. The concern is not only be 800 jobs last year and the | :06:00. | :06:02.
difficulties it will cause in the community but that the Indian | :06:03. | :06:08.
headquarters will finally lose patience and these 800 jobs may be a | :06:09. | :06:14.
best case scenario and we could be looking towards a worst decision, as | :06:15. | :06:19.
soon as later this month. Another devastating blow for this company | :06:20. | :06:20.
and for this industry. Thank you. And we'll bring you any updates | :06:21. | :06:26.
on this story over the weekend - including a special report | :06:27. | :06:32.
on Sunday Politics Wales, that's this Sunday morning, | :06:33. | :06:36.
at 11 o'clock, Doubts have been raised about some | :06:37. | :06:43.
of the engineering behind Swansea's Several experts have told BBC Wales | :06:44. | :06:46.
the design could generate less energy than the company | :06:47. | :06:50.
behind it claims. It comes after the Prime Minister | :06:51. | :06:52.
admitted his enthusiasm for the project has "reduced" - | :06:53. | :06:54.
the UK government is currently negotiating how much it would pay | :06:55. | :06:56.
the company to supply energy Our environment correspondent | :06:57. | :06:59.
Iolo ap Dafydd reports. 16 turbines placed a mile out to sea | :07:00. | :07:06.
to generate 320 megawatts of power. Which would then be | :07:07. | :07:10.
converted into electricity. That's what the developers | :07:11. | :07:11.
are hoping to build here They say it will provide clean power | :07:12. | :07:14.
from the ebb and flow of the tide Roger Faulkner is one of Wales's | :07:15. | :07:18.
leading professors of engineering. He supports the lagoon but asks | :07:19. | :07:24.
if the current design Whether it would be better to place | :07:25. | :07:26.
the turbines so that the wake was parallel to the mouth | :07:27. | :07:37.
of the tide coming out of here. Sending the wake right out | :07:38. | :07:40.
into the Bristol Channel. So, I hope that we can, | :07:41. | :07:45.
if this scheme goes ahead, and I hope it does, | :07:46. | :07:48.
that we can try to reconsider some aspects | :07:49. | :07:50.
of the design which I think Tidal Lagoon Power declined to be | :07:51. | :07:52.
interviewed for this report. They say the project is a world | :07:53. | :08:02.
first that employees proven It has been awarded a development | :08:03. | :08:05.
consent order and is designed that the date it through independent | :08:06. | :08:09.
technical adjudication on behalf of the government | :08:10. | :08:11.
and on behalf of the investors The Chancellor George Osborne | :08:12. | :08:13.
has voiced support. As has billionaire businessman | :08:14. | :08:16.
Sir Terry Matthews. One way or another in the future, | :08:17. | :08:18.
we have to capture the power Until the strike price is right, | :08:19. | :08:21.
which is a very important part, and the UK in particular can | :08:22. | :08:28.
recognise the high tidal changes Consultants on behalf | :08:29. | :08:30.
of the UK Government But last Tuesday, the Prime Minister | :08:31. | :08:38.
seemed less convinced Right now, my enthusiasm is reduced | :08:39. | :08:42.
slightly by the fact that the costs The developers in tidal lagoon power | :08:43. | :08:48.
are expecting a decision on a request for a guaranteed | :08:49. | :08:55.
price for the clean energy if the project | :08:56. | :08:57.
is to be given the go-ahead. The guaranteed supply could cost | :08:58. | :09:02.
168 pounds for every megawatt hour of | :09:03. | :09:04.
energy over 35 years. Lancaster University | :09:05. | :09:08.
engineering experts have just published a review of | :09:09. | :09:11.
Swansea's proposed lagoon. Britain should maximise | :09:12. | :09:15.
the power from the tides, but he also says there | :09:16. | :09:17.
should be further work It's something that clearly | :09:18. | :09:19.
needs investigation. Probably a further two and three 3D | :09:20. | :09:31.
resets has to be take place. At the same time, | :09:32. | :09:34.
good design rules have to be employed for it to be | :09:35. | :09:40.
environmentally friendly. Despite questions | :09:41. | :09:42.
around aspects of the turbine technology, there's a lot | :09:43. | :09:45.
of support for tidal energy. Uncertainty centres | :09:46. | :09:51.
on the confidence of the developers and the investors | :09:52. | :09:54.
in securing the financial A 53-year-old man has appeared | :09:55. | :09:56.
before magistrates in Newport charged with the murder | :09:57. | :10:00.
of a woman in Monmouthshire. The body of 25-year-old | :10:01. | :10:03.
Georgina Symonds was found Peter Morgan - who's | :10:04. | :10:05.
from Abergavenny was remanded in custody until his next court | :10:06. | :10:11.
appearance on Monday. North Wales Police are treating | :10:12. | :10:15.
the death of a man in Rhyl as suspicious after significant | :10:16. | :10:21.
concerns were raised The body of 44-year-old | :10:22. | :10:23.
Liam James Hill was found in his flat on the West Parade last | :10:24. | :10:27.
Friday. Officers are now appealing | :10:28. | :10:30.
for information to help establish Mr Hill's movements | :10:31. | :10:32.
before his death. The 18-year-old brother of a woman | :10:33. | :10:37.
who was murdered in Newport - has been given a two-year suspended | :10:38. | :10:40.
sentence after admitting three counts of raping a schoolgirl | :10:41. | :10:43.
under the age of 13. Luke Grender - who was 16 and 17 | :10:44. | :10:47.
at the time of the offences - heard he was being spared jail | :10:48. | :10:51.
because of the "exceptional circumstances of his | :10:52. | :10:54.
family's heartbreak." Grender's sister, Nikitta, | :10:55. | :11:00.
was raped and murdered two weeks before she was due | :11:01. | :11:02.
to give birth in 2011. Monmouthshire council's education | :11:03. | :11:07.
department has been taken out The watchdog Estyn says grades | :11:08. | :11:09.
of pupils from poorer backgrounds have improved there - | :11:10. | :11:18.
and the council is better But the most able children should be | :11:19. | :11:20.
getting more top GCSE grades and more focus should be placed | :11:21. | :11:24.
on underperformance. Welcome to this primary school where | :11:25. | :11:39.
staff are praised for building a solid foundation. The head office is | :11:40. | :11:43.
plastered with data on how things are going. We've got much more | :11:44. | :11:53.
explicit guidelines and expectations with regard to planning and | :11:54. | :11:59.
evaluation and attainment. Most importantly about pupil progress. | :12:00. | :12:04.
There are three groups of people responsible for improvements in the | :12:05. | :12:19.
education system. There are experts who go into schools and challenge | :12:20. | :12:23.
them to improve and speak to the local authority. Schools here | :12:24. | :12:27.
generally do well. The experts who visit them will be looked at in | :12:28. | :12:33.
detail later in the year. Today the focus is on Monmouthshire Council | :12:34. | :12:38.
put into special magic just -- special measures because it wasn't | :12:39. | :12:44.
capable of improving schools on its own. It was one of six authorities | :12:45. | :12:51.
in Wales in special measures. Pembrokeshire and Anglesey came out | :12:52. | :12:56.
in 2014. Just before Christmas Blaenau Gwent came out as well after | :12:57. | :13:05.
four years of underperforming. Others are expected to follow soon. | :13:06. | :13:13.
We are going to maintain links with high-calibre individuals who have | :13:14. | :13:17.
helped us through these three years so that we can maintain sustained | :13:18. | :13:22.
improvement. They always focused on what they had done and achieved and | :13:23. | :13:26.
not what their weaknesses were. I hope they don't slip back into that | :13:27. | :13:33.
mindset. Well done to Lucy in year six and for the local authority, | :13:34. | :13:35.
good, could do better. A project in Swansea that offers | :13:36. | :13:40.
advice and support to sex workers says it needs additional funding | :13:41. | :13:43.
to continue the work it's doing. The Retreat project was set-up | :13:44. | :13:46.
around two years ago using money So far it's helped almost 40 men | :13:47. | :13:48.
and women to move on from doing sex work - but it's believed many more | :13:49. | :13:53.
people need its support. Often forced into | :13:54. | :13:56.
sex work to fund a drug addiction or because | :13:57. | :14:03.
of sex trafficking. There are 2500 people | :14:04. | :14:05.
in sex work around Wales. Roughly 200 working | :14:06. | :14:08.
on the streets of I met with Sam who | :14:09. | :14:10.
told me how she ended I didn't have anywhere to live | :14:11. | :14:15.
so I had to do things to stay Because I didn't care | :14:16. | :14:31.
about anything, so I just used drugs and went out to work | :14:32. | :14:38.
to fund my habit, I didn't really So far, 37 individuals have been | :14:39. | :14:41.
supported by the retreat project. Some of those work from home, | :14:42. | :14:46.
others online and some But the majority | :14:47. | :14:48.
work on the streets. Facing a desperate situation, | :14:49. | :14:53.
Sam sometimes put herself in an extremely | :14:54. | :14:55.
vulnerable position. There would be some who would come | :14:56. | :14:57.
along and take you out of the area, Normally, we get the | :14:58. | :15:00.
money first but some would say I'll pay you later | :15:01. | :15:07.
and then they wouldn't pay up or they would take | :15:08. | :15:10.
is a long way out of Swansea and they wouldn't | :15:11. | :15:12.
bring us back. The Retreat project came around | :15:13. | :15:14.
about two years ago using money It was set up because it | :15:15. | :15:17.
was felt there wasn't enough support for sex | :15:18. | :15:21.
workers in the city. A lot of our clients have been | :15:22. | :15:23.
living in isolation. They've never ever discussed | :15:24. | :15:25.
this part of their lives They are very, very | :15:26. | :15:28.
desperate for support. Sarah is about to start volunteer | :15:29. | :15:35.
work with the project. She told me it has pulled her out | :15:36. | :15:41.
of a very frightening place. So to have people on the end | :15:42. | :15:45.
of the phone who can put you in touch with police | :15:46. | :15:54.
and hospitals, It opened a big door to change | :15:55. | :16:00.
and I think a lot more And help me to get clean | :16:01. | :16:04.
and stay clean and to get out of the place | :16:05. | :16:10.
I was at at that time. It has also helped Sam | :16:11. | :16:12.
to start rebuild her life. To get the new flat | :16:13. | :16:15.
and build up my self-esteem. I have a worker who helps | :16:16. | :16:18.
me around the house. I'm on a methadone | :16:19. | :16:21.
programme to get me off I don't do the work | :16:22. | :16:24.
much any more now. The project is due to come to an end | :16:25. | :16:27.
shortly, unless it can get another There is hope it can | :16:28. | :16:31.
be expanded to help individuals in | :16:32. | :16:34.
neighbouring communities. A lifeline for those in a very | :16:35. | :16:35.
desperate situation. Still to come before 7.00 | :16:36. | :16:41.
the owner of this cello died Now - this unique instrument | :16:42. | :16:44.
is to be auctioned in Wales. And who will finish | :16:45. | :16:49.
the first half of the season 5 teams are still in the race | :16:50. | :16:51.
before tomorrow's split. Most parts of Wales have seen rain | :16:52. | :16:58.
over the last few weeks - but it's been particularly wet | :16:59. | :17:01.
in Eglwyswrw in Pembrokeshire. It's rained there every day | :17:02. | :17:08.
since the 26th of October last year billed as the worst run of bad | :17:09. | :17:11.
British weather in nearly a century. But as Abigail Neal reports, | :17:12. | :17:14.
there could be a silver lining It may be dry and sunny now but it | :17:15. | :17:28.
has been pretty miserable here in Eglwyswrw. It has rained for 81 days | :17:29. | :17:41.
on that Trott. People are getting pretty fed up with it. | :17:42. | :17:44.
They are hardy animals - but even the star attractions | :17:45. | :17:46.
at this Shire Horse farm in the village are finding it | :17:47. | :17:49.
They're wet all the time. It robs the hair off if they don't come in. | :17:50. | :17:59.
Eglywswrw's high position means it doesn't flood, | :18:00. | :18:01.
but in less than three months, they've had half of their yearly | :18:02. | :18:04.
With the two pubs now shut they've had to be resourceful. | :18:05. | :18:13.
John Evans has been handing out homebrew from the makeshift bar | :18:14. | :18:15.
Has it helped to lift spirits? It has. They don't need many pints to | :18:16. | :18:31.
feel it. It's quite strong. 7.8%, actually. I've had it tested. | :18:32. | :18:39.
Although the rain may have been of biblical proportions, there is some | :18:40. | :18:44.
way to go to beat the records. It rained for 89 days on Sylla in | :18:45. | :18:57.
Scotland. Everywhere has felt it over the last couple of months. | :18:58. | :19:04.
People are quite excited that Eglwyswrw is on the map. | :19:05. | :19:07.
could scupper Pembrokeshire's chance of setting a new record - | :19:08. | :19:10.
but all the interest means it's certainly been a winter to remember. | :19:11. | :19:13.
Derek will be here with a full forecast in a few minutes - | :19:14. | :19:17.
Cardiff City won't be able to sign new players this month - | :19:18. | :19:22.
they've been placed under a transfer embargo by the Football League | :19:23. | :19:24.
after breaching financial fair play rules. | :19:25. | :19:27.
It's thought the breach relates to Cardiff's debts. | :19:28. | :19:29.
It's the second time in six years that Cardiff have been | :19:30. | :19:35.
Swansea City have successfully appealed Kyle Naughton's red card | :19:36. | :19:40.
He was sent-off - despite appearing to get the ball - | :19:41. | :19:48.
he won't now serve a three-match ban. | :19:49. | :19:51.
Warren Feeney is the new Newport County Manager. | :19:52. | :19:53.
The former Northern Ireland international was assistant manager | :19:54. | :19:55.
He's County's fifth manager in less than 12 months. | :19:56. | :20:01.
It's a big weekend for the Welsh Premier League - | :20:02. | :20:04.
as it reaches the halfway point - the moment when the 12 teams | :20:05. | :20:07.
The top six clubs are all protected from relegation. | :20:08. | :20:16.
But the bottom six is a much more precarious place to be, | :20:17. | :20:19.
The Welsh Premier League is based on a 12 team league that splits | :20:20. | :20:28.
in two halfway through the season, so after | :20:29. | :20:30.
this weekend, the top six will play each other twice, | :20:31. | :20:33.
It may sound confusing but it simply means that we are now faced | :20:34. | :20:38.
with an exciting mid-season battle for the play-off place | :20:39. | :20:41.
The split is fairly unique in European foot oil in the football | :20:42. | :20:49.
that we adapt in the Welsh Premier League. | :20:50. | :20:50.
Going into this final weekend, you have got five teams fighting | :20:51. | :20:53.
for those two remaining places in the top six. | :20:54. | :20:58.
Obviously, being in the top six will guarantee that you are not | :20:59. | :21:01.
Carmarthen, Aberystwyth and Bangor are still in the race. | :21:02. | :21:18.
But Connors Quay and Newtown who are currently | :21:19. | :21:20.
fifth and sixth are in the driving seat. | :21:21. | :21:22.
A win or even a draw will probably be enough for both. | :21:23. | :21:25.
Training in the rain this week, Carmarthen Town who welcome | :21:26. | :21:27.
relegation struggling real are aiming for victory | :21:28. | :21:29.
and are hoping other results go their way. | :21:30. | :21:31.
What I'll be saying to the players is | :21:32. | :21:33.
they have to concentrate on our match. | :21:34. | :21:35.
It would be an absolute crying shame if Connors Quay lost or Newtown | :21:36. | :21:38.
So all the focus is on our performance, our players, | :21:39. | :21:42.
the job we have in hand and see where that | :21:43. | :21:44.
Bangor City down in ninth welcome Haverfordwest. | :21:45. | :21:54.
They rely on other results but still have an outside chance. | :21:55. | :21:57.
The teams at the top, TNS is always going to be there. | :21:58. | :22:01.
The rest of the teams are challenging for those six | :22:02. | :22:03.
We are playing Haverfordwest and they are bottom of the league. | :22:04. | :22:12.
They are a useful side and there's no easy games. | :22:13. | :22:14.
It just shows how strong the Welsh league | :22:15. | :22:16.
Aberystwyth are also in the race, they can spoil sixth place Newtown's | :22:17. | :22:20.
party who they welcome at 5:15pm tomorrow. | :22:21. | :22:23.
One night of football to shape the second half of the Welsh | :22:24. | :22:26.
Group matches in the European Champions Cup - | :22:27. | :22:32.
the Ospreys face last year's beaten finalists Clermont Auvergne | :22:33. | :22:34.
Clermont are top of Pool Two with the Ospreys second | :22:35. | :22:41.
A win would keep alive their chances of reaching the quarter finals, | :22:42. | :22:46.
ahead of their final group game at Exeter next week. | :22:47. | :22:48.
We haven't been in this situation for a number of years. | :22:49. | :22:52.
Getting fifth game still being alive in the tournament. | :22:53. | :22:54.
If you knock Clermont over, you take to the last game | :22:55. | :22:59.
I don't think we'll be looking at history or any records like that | :23:00. | :23:06.
but it would just be about our performance | :23:07. | :23:08.
returns for the Dragons for their challenge Cup match | :23:09. | :23:18.
The Dragons who are two points clear at the top of Pool 2 | :23:19. | :23:29.
will also welcome back winger Hallam Amos who's been | :23:30. | :23:31.
A cello, owned by a Sergeant who died during the Anglo-Zulu war - | :23:32. | :23:36.
will be put up for auction in Usk next week. | :23:37. | :23:39.
It was owned by Band Sergeant, David Gamble - killed in a battle | :23:40. | :23:42.
News of the battle was overshadowed at the time - by actions | :23:43. | :23:47.
at a nearby garrison in Rorke's Drift. | :23:48. | :23:48.
A cello - owned by a Band Sergeant - | :23:49. | :23:58.
who fought in one of Britain's most disastrous and bloody battles. | :23:59. | :24:02.
20,000 Zulu warriors attacked 1,800 British troops. | :24:03. | :24:06.
1,300 were killed - including Band Sergeant Gamble. | :24:07. | :24:10.
It's a bit of a gem. How it got from South Africa back to London, we'll | :24:11. | :24:25.
never know. Somebody put money into it very shortly afterwards. You'd | :24:26. | :24:30.
only want to do that to honour the person who used it or to play it. | :24:31. | :24:34.
And while the battle raged at Isandlwana - | :24:35. | :24:35.
a small garrison was attacked nearby. | :24:36. | :24:37.
Rorke's Drift - immortalised in the film Zulu - | :24:38. | :24:40.
and here at the Royal Welsh museum. | :24:41. | :24:42.
would later become the South Wales Borderers | :24:43. | :24:45.
turned those heroic events - to her advantage. | :24:46. | :24:56.
The British military establishment wanted to deflect attention to the | :24:57. | :25:04.
heroic defence of rocks drift as a more palatable story. The fact that | :25:05. | :25:11.
so many Victoria crosses were awarded had something to do with | :25:12. | :25:16.
trying to deflect the public attention away from the other | :25:17. | :25:17.
battle. And we have an insight into those | :25:18. | :25:19.
events at Isandlwana - from a passage - mentioning | :25:20. | :25:22.
Band Sergeant David Gamble. An interpreter came upon Sergeant | :25:23. | :25:27.
gamble. An interpreter James Brickhill, | :25:28. | :25:35.
who was on horseback, "For god's sake give us | :25:36. | :25:37.
a lift", said Gamble. Brickhill said - it's a matter | :25:38. | :25:40.
of "life and death", and spurred his horse forward - | :25:41. | :25:42.
Gamble was never seen again. now about to go to auction - | :25:43. | :25:46.
ties us to a bloody moment in British history - | :25:47. | :26:01.
and a brave man's life. From rain to snow - | :26:02. | :26:03.
the weather's got us all talking. Derek - what's in | :26:04. | :26:06.
store this weekend? There may be a shower in Eglwyswrw | :26:07. | :26:07.
tomorrow but I can promise some dry, Mind you it may not stay | :26:08. | :26:11.
everywhere on Sunday! Now it was a very icy start | :26:12. | :26:16.
in places this morning and some This picture taken near | :26:17. | :26:19.
Llandegla by Benn Westwood. This evening wintry showers | :26:20. | :26:23.
will spread south and clear. Much of the country then dry | :26:24. | :26:25.
overnight with starry skies although showers are | :26:26. | :26:27.
likely in western parts. Temperatures widely falling | :26:28. | :26:29.
below freezing tonight And where there's any | :26:30. | :26:30.
lying snow as low as -8. Some untreated roads and pavements | :26:31. | :26:36.
could turn very slippery Here's the picture | :26:37. | :26:48.
for 9 in the morning. A frosty start for | :26:49. | :26:52.
much of the country. Icy a hazard but bright, | :26:53. | :26:54.
crisp and sunny with hardly Although parts of Pembrokeshire | :26:55. | :26:56.
will be cloudy with a few showers. So a nice day for | :26:57. | :27:00.
most of us tomorrow. Showers in the SW | :27:01. | :27:03.
will tend to die out. Most of the country having a dry | :27:04. | :27:05.
and bright afternoon. Colder on high ground | :27:06. | :27:08.
but the wind light. If you're heading into | :27:09. | :27:14.
the mountains tomorrow. The weather and visibility generally | :27:15. | :27:19.
good but icy under foot. Tomorrow evening dry with frost | :27:20. | :27:23.
but overnight cloud will increase with a little rain and snow in mid | :27:24. | :27:27.
and north Wales. The south dry with one or two mist | :27:28. | :27:29.
and fog patches. Sunday spots of light rain and snow | :27:30. | :27:33.
in mid, north and east Wales. Fairly cloudy but it | :27:34. | :27:37.
may brighten-up. Into next week signs | :27:38. | :27:45.
of a change. Also a risk of a little snow | :27:46. | :27:47.
in places too, mainly By the middle of week it may turn | :27:48. | :27:50.
milder but the forecast for next Hundreds of jobless job losses are | :27:51. | :28:07.
expected at Tata in Wales. From me, and everyone on the programme, good | :28:08. | :28:09.
evening. | :28:10. | :28:12. |
