Private Cheryl James, from Llangollen, died at

The coroner rejects calls from her family to examine

an alleged culture of sexual abuse at the base.

And, the company behind Swansea Bay's tidal lagoon project

wins more than ?10 million of investment.

More now on the inquest into the death of Private Cheryl James,

from Llangollen, who died at Deepcut Barracks in Surrey.

The inquest will not look at allegations of a culture

The 18-year-old's family had hoped officials would widen the scope

But the coroner said he would explore the impact of any

abuse against the soldier on her state of mind.

Private Cheryl James, from Llangollen, found with a

bullet wound to her head at Deepcut Barracks in Surrey.

Within weeks, the Army ruled it was suicide.

She was one of four soldiers to die at

Allegations of widespread bullying emerged.

One of those allegations - Cheryl was forced into having sex

with a senior colleague here before she died.

Cheryl's family's search for answers has brought them here,

to a courthouse in Surrey not far from Deepcut Barracks.

Today's new inquest is only possible because

their lawyer argued that Surrey Police should be forced

to reveal more information about the investigation at the time.

The coroner said today he would look at Cheryl's state of mind on the day

she died, the Army's rules and regulations and allegations that

that there might have been third-party involvement

But he says he will stop short of looking

at broader claims of sexual abuse and bullying at Deepcut Barracks

The coroner will consider whether Cheryl had

In 2002, the BBC reported allegations Cheryl was targeted

There was many times she was crying, talking to her friends

I was aware that a certain Sergeant took an extremely

strong liking to Cheryl and made her life hell.

The Army and the Armed Forces Minister at the time warned

about accepting all the allegations as fact.

I simply don't admit that there is a problem on the scale

I fully accept that there are individual circumstances

which are being investigated by the police.

A very large number of soldiers and ex-soldiers

But where people are making allegations, they must make them

We would wish to hear them and to root out the causes,

But there's already been a delay to proceedings here.

Evidence won't start to be heard until Thursday.

Surrey Police says it wants to see more detail in the expert reports

that have been specially commissioned.

A promise from the coroner today of a full, frank and fearless

investigation, but with a focus on Cheryl's state of mind that day.

Her father says this month long inquest is his best chance in

Gwent Police have confirmed that a baby found dead near an

industrial estate on the outskirts of Newport on Friday was a newborn.

They say the baby would have been born at around full term.

going forward, and we are comfortable with them all.

As plans developed, more investment is likely to be made.

Simec say they've analysed every detail of the plans,

technological and business as well, behind the tidal lagoon projects.

Their confident it's the way ahead, and they personally are also excited

that one of the lagoons on the drawing board

Tidal lagoon power and the Gupta family are also

working on a tidal power project for Gujarat in India.

The family's aim is to create a multi-billion pound

renewable energy business to supply energy intensive industries

There are fresh concerns within Ukip about who should be selected

to stand as candidates to fight the assembly election in May.

Some party members are concerned that

former Conservative MPs, including Neil Hamilton,

could be imposed on the party against their wishes.

The party's National Executive Committee met again today

After years of disagreement, a deal's been done between

Cardiff City's current and former owners over debts

The club's settled a dispute with the company, Langston,

on the day it was due to be heard in court.

Cardiff are also understood to be satisfied that Langston is owned
