Our health editor Hugh Pym will be taking questions live this evening | :00:00. | 3:59:59
at 8 o'clock. Now Thousands of Welsh steel workers | :00:00. | :00:00.
take their message to the heart of Europe to urge support | :00:00. | :00:10.
for their ailing industry. Give us a fair chance | :00:11. | :00:13.
for our future. We will make a bit of noise today | :00:14. | :00:18.
and hopefully it will put pressure Labour promises a hundred thousand | :00:19. | :00:23.
apprenticeships if the party wins Are anti-depressants | :00:24. | :00:41.
prescribed too easily? A professor of psychiatry says | :00:42. | :00:47.
doctors are "all but forcing" One of Wales' worst marine | :00:48. | :00:51.
disasters. 20 years after the Sea Empress | :00:52. | :00:57.
spilled oil across the Pembrokeshire A set-back to Rhys Webb's hopes | :00:58. | :01:01.
of being re-called for the rest And some of the biggest | :01:02. | :01:07.
names in snooker are here but will a Welshman take | :01:08. | :01:12.
the Welsh Open title for the first A senior EU commissioner has told | :01:13. | :01:14.
this programme they're already putting tariffs on Chinese steel | :01:15. | :01:24.
products coming into the UK. It comes as steel workers from Wales | :01:25. | :01:29.
joined thousands from across Europe at a protest in Brussels to demand | :01:30. | :01:33.
action from the European Union They say cheap Chinese steel | :01:34. | :01:37.
is threatening their business. Hundreds of job losses have already | :01:38. | :01:42.
been announced at Tata Steel here. From Brussels, here's our business | :01:43. | :01:47.
correspondent Brian Meechan. Save our steel! A message loud and | :01:48. | :02:05.
clear. Some of these Tata workers in the company's worked here not only | :02:06. | :02:10.
worried about the long-term. Some are facing redundancy as 750 jobs go | :02:11. | :02:15.
at Port Talbot. We want to make a bit of noise and we want to put | :02:16. | :02:19.
pressure on the European Parliament to put sanctions on the Chinese | :02:20. | :02:24.
deal. It is about fighting for our jobs. These survival of the UK steel | :02:25. | :02:30.
industry. It is a desperate situation and we need urgent action. | :02:31. | :02:37.
We have 50 steelworkers from Tata in south Wales joining 5000 workers | :02:38. | :02:41.
from across Europe at the home of the European Commission in Brussels. | :02:42. | :02:46.
They are not marching alone. They are marching with the bosses of | :02:47. | :02:52.
tartar, including the head of Tata Steel in Europe. That shows the | :02:53. | :02:57.
management and workers are united in their message to stop the dumping | :02:58. | :03:04.
from China. They were joined by 5000 others from across Europe. China | :03:05. | :03:09.
denies it is dumping steel, selling below its value or what it costs to | :03:10. | :03:15.
make, but critics argue it is clearly happening. Tata's European | :03:16. | :03:19.
boss says we need to learn from their mistakes of the past when | :03:20. | :03:22.
energy costs took years to deal with. We are here for free and fair | :03:23. | :03:29.
trade. We want the commission to apply the instruments to keep action | :03:30. | :03:34.
against dumping steel from China which is affecting the market in | :03:35. | :03:39.
Europe. It has got to be fast and effective. The Welsh steelworkers | :03:40. | :03:46.
stopped outside the European Commission headquarters and were in | :03:47. | :03:51.
good spirits, but I met with one of Europe's most senior figures to see | :03:52. | :03:56.
if their voices were being heard. There are 37 trades defending | :03:57. | :04:02.
measures in place at the moment, 16 relate directly to China, so we are | :04:03. | :04:07.
doing quite a lot and every time there are accusations, we start | :04:08. | :04:11.
looking at what is the reality and if there is a need to do any | :04:12. | :04:14.
anti-dumping or trade defence measures. The UK Government has been | :04:15. | :04:21.
criticised for not backing tougher measures to raise the cost of | :04:22. | :04:25.
Chinese steel. In Brussels, the businessmen Anna Soubry rejected the | :04:26. | :04:32.
complaints. It is important we don't get diverted into what might happen | :04:33. | :04:36.
in the future in relation to China. If you look at tariffs, it could | :04:37. | :04:40.
take years to change that. This industry has not got the time. It | :04:41. | :04:46.
wants action today. We have already lost in six months well over 5500 | :04:47. | :04:52.
jobs, never mind the effect it has on the supply chain. The | :04:53. | :04:59.
steelworkers certainly had their day in protest. Whether they get the | :05:00. | :05:03.
response they want at the speed they wanted is another matter. | :05:04. | :05:05.
Brian, doesn't this all highlight how significant China has become | :05:06. | :05:08.
It really does. China is a major force. It is the second-biggest | :05:09. | :05:22.
economy in the world and it has had a negative impact on Wales, as we | :05:23. | :05:27.
have seen a lot of manufacturing jobs go to China and other parts of | :05:28. | :05:31.
Asia and there is no doubt that Chinese steel is having an impact | :05:32. | :05:37.
Welsh steelmakers. However, we have seen Chailly invest quite heavily in | :05:38. | :05:44.
biomass. Two plants in Wales. We have seen China invest ?300 million | :05:45. | :05:49.
in Cardiff Metropolitan University so that money is coming in. When of | :05:50. | :05:54.
the difficulties when you get into tariffs is that they can escalate. | :05:55. | :05:58.
It began become a tit-for-tat approach. Countries just start | :05:59. | :06:05.
slapping tariffs on each other. We have seen that with the United | :06:06. | :06:10.
States and the European Union. It is not specific to China. That is | :06:11. | :06:14.
something countries try to avoid. So it is not an entirely | :06:15. | :06:16.
straightforward matter. Labour has announced six key pledges | :06:17. | :06:18.
for May's Assembly election. The First Minister Carwyn Jones | :06:19. | :06:21.
promised funding for new treatments on the NHS and better | :06:22. | :06:25.
school standards. But opponents say Labour's Welsh | :06:26. | :06:27.
government has failed to deliver. Our political correspondent | :06:28. | :06:31.
Daniel Davies reports. The motto applies to building | :06:32. | :06:35.
aeroplanes and putting together Carwyn Jones visited the Airbus | :06:36. | :06:41.
factory in Flintshire today promising a future Labour government | :06:42. | :06:49.
would create more apprentices. One of his six big ideas | :06:50. | :06:53.
for May's election. There will be more to come | :06:54. | :06:57.
when we publish our manifesto but these are the promises we ask | :06:58. | :07:00.
you to measure us by in 2021. If it wins it would create 100,000 | :07:01. | :07:05.
apprenticeships over five years. There would be a fund to pay | :07:06. | :07:11.
for new treatments on the NHS. Labour says it would offer a tax | :07:12. | :07:15.
break to more small businesses Schools would see a ?100 million | :07:16. | :07:19.
fund to improve standards. Parents would get an extra ten | :07:20. | :07:25.
weeks of free childcare And the amount of money elderly | :07:26. | :07:28.
people could keep if they have to sell their home to go into care | :07:29. | :07:33.
would double to ?50,000. We are talking about older people, | :07:34. | :07:38.
talking of opportunities for youngsters, talking about jobs, | :07:39. | :07:42.
health, economy, education, These are the things that affect | :07:43. | :07:46.
people's everyday lives and they expect political | :07:47. | :07:50.
parties to make promises on improving their | :07:51. | :07:52.
lives and rightly so. The opposition says Labour has had | :07:53. | :07:55.
plenty of time to improve people's lives in the 17 years it has | :07:56. | :07:59.
already spent in power. Sadly we have had 17 years | :08:00. | :08:02.
of stagnation with Labour and we are always told | :08:03. | :08:05.
it is going to get better tomorrow. These pledges are the same as at any | :08:06. | :08:08.
election that Labour bring forward. You can't really believe | :08:09. | :08:11.
a word they say. Labour has been in charge either | :08:12. | :08:14.
alone or in coalition since the Assembly | :08:15. | :08:17.
was created in 1999. Delivery, that is what he | :08:18. | :08:20.
promised five years ago. Now he says the job is only half | :08:21. | :08:24.
finished and he needs another five Daniel, if any of this | :08:25. | :08:28.
is to become reality, Absolutely. There was a poll out | :08:29. | :08:44.
this morning suggesting that maybe Labour are some way off that | :08:45. | :08:48.
majority. Still the biggest party by quite some margin but the majority | :08:49. | :08:54.
that eluded them at the Le two elections still looks quite elusive. | :08:55. | :08:58.
That poll also showed despite a dreadful row in the party over | :08:59. | :09:01.
choosing candidates, Ukip is still polling well. We will keep an eye on | :09:02. | :09:08.
that. But if Labour or anyone else. Of that majority, possibly parties | :09:09. | :09:12.
behind closed doors haggling over which of these policies they want to | :09:13. | :09:16.
work together to implement. Just a couple of things to point out in the | :09:17. | :09:22.
announcement today, 100,000 apprenticeships. That is not | :09:23. | :09:25.
dramatically more than the Welsh government creates already but | :09:26. | :09:29.
people in industry say if Labour or anyone else can guarantee a steady | :09:30. | :09:33.
supply of apprentices and the funding that requires, that is no | :09:34. | :09:38.
bad thing. On the new funding for new treatments on the NHS for | :09:39. | :09:42.
improving school standards, that really goes to the heart of the big | :09:43. | :09:46.
rows in the Assembly over the last five years and more. Has Labour | :09:47. | :09:49.
delivered better public services under devolution? The opposition | :09:50. | :09:54.
will say no, this is more of the same. The challenge for Labour is | :09:55. | :10:00.
this, if they think Labour Ash Wales is on the right track, you would not | :10:01. | :10:04.
expect them to tear it all up and start again. But perhaps people | :10:05. | :10:06.
expected more. A man accused of raping a student | :10:07. | :10:08.
during fresher's week in Cardiff was preying on single, | :10:09. | :10:11.
drunk women, a court has heard. Reemus Hamza is alleged to have | :10:12. | :10:14.
attacked the 20-year-old near Cardiff University | :10:15. | :10:17.
as she walked home alone Police are appealing for information | :10:18. | :10:19.
on the whereabouts of a woman from Cardiff who's been | :10:20. | :10:29.
missing since Friday night. Janine Loddo was last seen | :10:30. | :10:32.
in the Popworld club She left the club, formerly known | :10:33. | :10:34.
as Flares, without her phone and coat, which have been | :10:35. | :10:39.
handed into officers. Her family say it's out of character | :10:40. | :10:42.
for her not to make contact. Are anti-depressants drugs | :10:43. | :10:48.
being prescribed too freely? According to a professor | :10:49. | :10:52.
of psychiatry from North Wales, GPs are failing patients and should | :10:53. | :10:55.
demand more information The latest figures show the use | :10:56. | :10:59.
of anti-depressants has As part of the BBC's | :11:00. | :11:04.
In the Mind Season, In Wales, not tens but hundreds | :11:05. | :11:10.
of thousands of us depend on them. Anti-depressants like Prozac | :11:11. | :11:17.
and Seroxat are said to be among the most successful | :11:18. | :11:20.
drugs of all time. It is estimated one in six of those | :11:21. | :11:23.
of working age in Wales, that is more than a quarter | :11:24. | :11:27.
of a million people, It was a gradual feeling of sinking | :11:28. | :11:30.
lower and lower and lower, and then you find yourself | :11:31. | :11:36.
in a situation where it is very In Caernarfon, Manon Wilkinson has | :11:37. | :11:40.
spoken out about the You have zilch motivation to do | :11:41. | :11:45.
anything and you have serious obsessive suicidal thoughts | :11:46. | :11:51.
and that is when I really worried The most commonly used | :11:52. | :11:56.
anti-depressant drugs make billions for the pharmaceutical industry | :11:57. | :12:02.
but are they being too Figures supplied to us showed an 8% | :12:03. | :12:05.
increase in the last year alone. Professor David Healy is a long-time | :12:06. | :12:12.
critic of drugs businesses. The anti-depressants have been sold | :12:13. | :12:16.
as working wonderfully well and coming pretty well | :12:17. | :12:22.
free of risks. If doctors really knew | :12:23. | :12:25.
about the risks, they would be They would say, you don't | :12:26. | :12:28.
necessarily want to have these They can do good but | :12:29. | :12:35.
they can be tricky. And Malan Wilkinson agrees other | :12:36. | :12:41.
therapies should be used Prescription drugs and | :12:42. | :12:43.
anti-depressants provide a very fast and easy answer to an extremely | :12:44. | :12:49.
difficult, long-term issue. It is all about medics being seen | :12:50. | :12:52.
to be doing something and very often, from personal experience, | :12:53. | :12:55.
drugs or anti-depressants, very rarely, not at all in my case, | :12:56. | :12:59.
address the root cause But is it really this | :13:00. | :13:02.
straightforward? Critics claim doctors | :13:03. | :13:07.
are overprescribing and the statistics seem to back that | :13:08. | :13:09.
up but what about Amitriptyline? It is an anti-depressant | :13:10. | :13:13.
but it is commonly prescribed How does that feature | :13:14. | :13:17.
in the figures? And Phil White, a GP | :13:18. | :13:22.
in Menai Bridge, says drugs are often supplied in the short | :13:23. | :13:24.
term because little else Anti-depressants medication | :13:25. | :13:28.
is one treatment option, counselling, referrals, | :13:29. | :13:33.
another treatment option and a combination of both is also | :13:34. | :13:36.
suitable for some people. However, waiting times for some | :13:37. | :13:40.
of these non-medical treatments are so long, you can't | :13:41. | :13:43.
leave people hanging on. Be under no illusion, | :13:44. | :13:47.
anti-depressants will continue to be There are plenty of critics but many | :13:48. | :13:50.
too who depend on them. And throughout this week we're | :13:51. | :13:58.
exploring mental health as part Tomorrow, the services on offer | :13:59. | :14:01.
for people experiencing a mental Back to tonight, much more to come | :14:02. | :14:07.
before seven o'clock. They cast off for a world record | :14:08. | :14:16.
attempt to row the Atlantic. Soon after this, they | :14:17. | :14:20.
capsized off Africa. Tonight, the mum from Anglesey | :14:21. | :14:22.
on her daughter's worst nightmare. And on course for maximum break | :14:23. | :14:27.
but unimpressed with the prize money - Ronnie O'Sullivan deliberately | :14:28. | :14:30.
misses out on pocketing ten grand. Remembered for causing one | :14:31. | :14:39.
of the worst marine disasters Wales has ever seen, the Sea Empress oil | :14:40. | :14:43.
tanker grounded on this day in 1996 20 years on, Milford Haven Port | :14:44. | :14:47.
Authority has told this programme it's now a world leader in safety, | :14:48. | :14:54.
having developed the software which is used in one of world's | :14:55. | :14:58.
busiest shipping areas - It was one of the UK's | :14:59. | :15:02.
largest oil spills. The Sea Empress was en route | :15:03. | :15:08.
to the Texaco oil refinery in Milford Haven, when she grounded | :15:09. | :15:11.
on mid-Channel rocks at St.Ann's The pilot radioed for | :15:12. | :15:15.
immediate assistance. All steerage on the | :15:16. | :15:18.
vessel had been lost. We are getting reports that 147,000 | :15:19. | :15:29.
tonne tanker has run aground in south Wales and is said to be | :15:30. | :15:31.
spilling oil. There was a week-long drama | :15:32. | :15:33.
as the World watched. A salvage operation was underway | :15:34. | :15:35.
to move the vessel. 72,000 tonnes of crude oil and 370 | :15:36. | :15:37.
tonnes of heavy fuel spewed The grounding was found | :15:38. | :15:40.
to be due to pilot error. 20 years on, now Milford Haven Port | :15:41. | :15:46.
Authority says its pilots are leading the way, | :15:47. | :15:49.
using the latest technology needed to bring these vessels into port, | :15:50. | :15:52.
developing an app now used in the world's busiest shipping | :15:53. | :15:57.
area, the Panama Canal. And all vessels of a certain | :15:58. | :15:59.
size have an escort tug I think the lessons that were | :16:00. | :16:11.
learned from it and taken from the incident have been applied now. A | :16:12. | :16:16.
lot of investment and an awful lot of training. We have got eight or | :16:17. | :16:20.
nine of the largest harbour tugs in the world in the ports. They are | :16:21. | :16:27.
very modern, recent new builds, very manoeuvrable and extremely powerful. | :16:28. | :16:30.
Boats like this one run out of Milford Haven 20 miles a day. To | :16:31. | :16:37.
bring in vessel is like this tanker. Now the pilots are extensively | :16:38. | :16:40.
trained by simulator. That was not the case 20 years ago when the Sea | :16:41. | :16:43.
Empress ran aground. The crude oil spilled | :16:44. | :16:45.
on to more than 100 beaches, The popular holiday resort of Tenby | :16:46. | :16:47.
saw its golden sands covered in a heavy smothering | :16:48. | :16:52.
of emulsified oil. Former councillor Barry Davies said | :16:53. | :16:54.
hundreds worked night and day There were cheers in the eyes of the | :16:55. | :17:04.
locals. This is known locally as the jewel in the Crown. It is a huge | :17:05. | :17:10.
tourist amenity location for the whole of the UK and they could see | :17:11. | :17:12.
their futures in huge jeopardy. The oil suffocated and poisoned | :17:13. | :17:15.
thousands of birds. We think there were 3500 dead birds | :17:16. | :17:25.
picked up but the workers clearing the oil were just clearing the oil | :17:26. | :17:29.
off the beaches and there were lots of dead birds mixed in with the oil | :17:30. | :17:33.
so we have no idea how many were really affected. | :17:34. | :17:35.
The total cost of the clear up was around ?60 million, | :17:36. | :17:38.
but the environmental cost was felt for many years after and has | :17:39. | :17:41.
The Chief Constable of Dyfed Powys Police has announced | :17:42. | :17:45.
Simon Prince, who began his career in 1990, says it's been an "enormous | :17:46. | :17:51.
privilege" to have led the force, having spent three | :17:52. | :17:54.
Cases of flu in Wales are at their highest level amongst | :17:55. | :17:59.
people under 45 this year rather than the elderly, | :18:00. | :18:03.
They say the latest strain particularly effects the young | :18:04. | :18:08.
Up until the end of last month, nearly 3,500 people visited their GP | :18:09. | :18:14.
with flu-like symptoms, with 120 needing hospital admission. | :18:15. | :18:20.
Different viruses have different age profiles so last year we saw H3N2, | :18:21. | :18:25.
which we know affects older people more than younger people. | :18:26. | :18:28.
This year it is a H1N1 virus, which has been around since 2009, | :18:29. | :18:32.
it is contained in the vaccine so we know the vaccine is a good | :18:33. | :18:36.
match, but it does affect younger people more than older people. | :18:37. | :18:40.
A mother from Anglesey says she's relieved after her daughter | :18:41. | :18:43.
was rescued by a cargo ship after a world record attempt to row | :18:44. | :18:47.
Olivia Wilson and three other female crew members were stranded in stormy | :18:48. | :18:53.
seas for 16 hours off the west coast of Africa after their | :18:54. | :18:57.
Jan Wilson says her daughter described it as the worst experience | :18:58. | :19:03.
Seen here in the middle with long brown hair, | :19:04. | :19:10.
Olivia Wilson and her three fellow crew set off from Gran Canaria | :19:11. | :19:13.
on January 26th for their journey across the Atlantic. | :19:14. | :19:17.
They hoped to break the world speed record for a female team of 45 days | :19:18. | :19:21.
and also raise money for children's charities. | :19:22. | :19:24.
But at the halfway point, near Cape Verde off the West African | :19:25. | :19:27.
coast at the weekend, disaster struck. | :19:28. | :19:30.
Huge waves broke equipment and capsized the boat. | :19:31. | :19:32.
Back home in Pentre Berw on Anglesey, Olivia's mum Jan waited | :19:33. | :19:36.
She said it took over three hours for them to be transferred | :19:37. | :19:42.
from their little boat to the ship and because she was last off, | :19:43. | :19:47.
at that point, she said it was a real leap of faith. | :19:48. | :19:52.
The 28-year-old is far from inexperienced, having served | :19:53. | :20:00.
in the Royal Navy and Royal Artillery. | :20:01. | :20:03.
Now en route to Quebec, Olivia and her crew should be back | :20:04. | :20:06.
on land next week for an emotional reunion with her relieved | :20:07. | :20:09.
Football, snooker and rugby in tonight's sport. | :20:10. | :20:14.
We start tonight with news of a set-back to Rhys Webb's hopes | :20:15. | :20:20.
of being re-called to the Wales side to face France a week on Friday. | :20:21. | :20:24.
The scrum-half has not played for Wales since suffering | :20:25. | :20:27.
a serious foot injury before the World Cup last September. | :20:28. | :20:30.
He returned from injury for the Ospreys yesterday | :20:31. | :20:33.
but suffered a head injury in the win over Munster. | :20:34. | :20:36.
Ospreys say he's extremely doubtful to play in the Pro12 game | :20:37. | :20:39.
It is disappointing for us but more importantly to Rhys. | :20:40. | :20:45.
He has come back from a long lay-off. | :20:46. | :20:47.
I don't think it will keep him out too long but it is something we have | :20:48. | :20:51.
got to make sure, particularly with these head injury assessments, | :20:52. | :20:54.
we have to make sure that players are at the forefront | :20:55. | :20:56.
Wales' Six Nations title ambitions are still alive after the win | :20:57. | :21:02.
Three tries were enough to overcome Scotland. | :21:03. | :21:06.
George North got the third, beating five men as he raced | :21:07. | :21:09.
So, let's take a look at the Six Nations table tonight. | :21:10. | :21:15.
Wales are on three points after recording their first win | :21:16. | :21:18.
of this year's championship, while France, who beat reigning | :21:19. | :21:21.
champions Ireland, are second - a place above Wales. | :21:22. | :21:27.
Football, and Wales are unsure if Gareth Bale and Joe Allen will be | :21:28. | :21:31.
fit for their friendly matches against Northern Ireland | :21:32. | :21:34.
Bale, who hasn't played since last month, is expected to miss | :21:35. | :21:39.
Real Madrid's Champions League game against Roma on Wednesday | :21:40. | :21:43.
after suffering a minor setback in his recovery from a calf injury. | :21:44. | :21:48.
It's important that the players play as many games as possible and have | :21:49. | :21:53.
that rhythm going into the end of the season but at the same time | :21:54. | :21:58.
it is important that injuries such as these are fully healed | :21:59. | :22:02.
Some of the best players in the world of snooker | :22:03. | :22:08.
It's been 17 years since a Welshman took the title. | :22:09. | :22:12.
He's through to the second round but all eyes were | :22:13. | :22:19.
on Ronnie O'Sullivan, who deliberately avoided securing | :22:20. | :22:23.
a maximum 147 break, saying the prize fund | :22:24. | :22:26.
For instance of the best snooker players in the world, Cardiff is the | :22:27. | :22:40.
place to be over the next seven days, but Willie Welchman Willem the | :22:41. | :22:45.
title this year? It has been a long 17 year wait. He is the only man to | :22:46. | :22:51.
win the Welsh Open, back in 1999. Mark Williams also clinched the | :22:52. | :22:56.
title in 1996. Today he may have struggled at times but did reach the | :22:57. | :23:02.
second round. Ten Welchman will have battled it out by this evening with | :23:03. | :23:06.
Matthew Stevens and Dominic Dale playing later tonight. The Welsh may | :23:07. | :23:11.
not be setting the world alight but one former world champion is not | :23:12. | :23:14.
concerned about the state of the game in Wales. There will always be | :23:15. | :23:20.
talent coming through because of the structure. They are putting these | :23:21. | :23:26.
events on every weekend for young players to play in. As you know in | :23:27. | :23:31.
any sport, competition is so important. You have got to have | :23:32. | :23:37.
that. You coach personally. Looking at the talent in Wales, how are we | :23:38. | :23:42.
looking at the moment? I am the best, obviously. On with the snooker | :23:43. | :23:48.
and last year the venue itself was criticised. Five-time world champion | :23:49. | :23:53.
Ronnie O'Sullivan said it was like playing in an aircraft hangar. He | :23:54. | :23:57.
was more, the medley today but created the headlines by turning | :23:58. | :24:01.
down the chance to score a maximum 147 as the ?10,000 prize money was | :24:02. | :24:08.
not enough. He feels it is not enough money. A 147 is a very | :24:09. | :24:16.
special moment and so you want it to feel special all around. I thought | :24:17. | :24:22.
that was value for money for the punters today. The night the | :24:23. | :24:27.
chairman of World Snooker said his behaviour was unacceptable and this | :24:28. | :24:33.
respect Bill to the paying public. -- this respectful. It is a busy | :24:34. | :24:39.
venue with 128 players accommodated. They have a lounge to relax but the | :24:40. | :24:44.
most important area for the players is the practice room. A chance for | :24:45. | :24:49.
some last-minute preparation. They are all aiming for that ?60,000 pot | :24:50. | :24:51.
which will be won on Sunday. Staying in and watching the snooker | :24:52. | :24:55.
is not a bad idea when it's It's not going to stay dry all week | :24:56. | :24:58.
but today has been lovely. Caroline was up early this morning | :24:59. | :25:05.
for sunrise on a snow And in Barmouth, these donkeys | :25:06. | :25:11.
enjoyed plenty of sunshine down Now, the lowest temperature recorded | :25:12. | :25:15.
in Wales so far this winter is minus seven Ceksius at Tirabad | :25:16. | :25:20.
in Powys back in January and tonight The sky clear and the | :25:21. | :25:23.
temperature is tumbling. A few degrees below inland | :25:24. | :25:27.
with a widespread, hard frost. Here's the picture for | :25:28. | :25:32.
eight in the morning. Bright, crisp and sunny too | :25:33. | :25:37.
with high cirrus clouds. Breezier on Anglesey so not quite | :25:38. | :25:43.
so cold here. Temperatures in the west a little | :25:44. | :25:46.
higher, especially The best of the sunshine | :25:47. | :25:49.
in the morning. During the afternoon | :25:50. | :25:56.
it will turn cloudier. Strong in the north-west | :25:57. | :25:59.
and feeling cold. Top temperatures between five | :26:00. | :26:05.
and eight Celsius. Cloudier in the afternoon | :26:06. | :26:07.
with a high of four The breeze picking up, | :26:08. | :26:13.
with Harlech rising to seven Tomorrow evening, most | :26:14. | :26:20.
of the country dry but rain in parts of the north and west will become | :26:21. | :26:25.
more widespread after midnight. Most of the snow on higher ground, | :26:26. | :26:29.
the hills and mountains. It should dry up in | :26:30. | :26:41.
the west by evening. Thursday, any rain and light snow | :26:42. | :26:44.
in the east will clear. The whole country becoming | :26:45. | :26:47.
dry and brightening up. But on Friday it's all change | :26:48. | :26:50.
again with fronts moving They'll introduce milder air, | :26:51. | :26:54.
more rain and stronger winds. So changeable sums up | :26:55. | :27:02.
the rest of the week. In the meantime, watch out | :27:03. | :27:05.
for Jack Frost tonight and make the most of the dry | :27:06. | :27:08.
weather tomorrow. And tonight's headlines from the | :27:09. | :27:22.
BBC. Steelworkers from Wales have joined thousands from across Europe | :27:23. | :27:28.
to protest in Britain's -- Brussels, demanding action from the European | :27:29. | :27:31.
Union to support the industry. They say cheap Chinese steel is | :27:32. | :27:33.
threatening their livelihoods. I'll have an update for you here | :27:34. | :27:35.
at 8pm and again after the BBC From all of us on the | :27:36. | :27:42.
programme, good evening. | :27:43. | :27:46. |
