The Marine Conservation Society in Wales is calling for a levy

on plastic food packaging, to reduce its impact

When the weather is this good, thousands of us head to the beach

but what about the packaging that food comes in?

Plastic containers cause problems for wildlife as it breaks down

and even when it is put in the bin it is not always easy to recycle.

On the rocky shores of Penarth in the Vale of Glamorgan,

the beach looks spotless from a distance but look closer

and you will still find plastic that has broken down.

These small pieces of plastic break down and even though we can't see

them, there will be micro-plastic dust and that affects right the way

To illustrate how much plastic we use, the Marine

Conservation Society wants us to try its plastic challenge.

Try to go for the month of June without using any

It also wants a charge brought in for plastic takeaway containers

We very much encourage people to recycle their plastic

Everybody used to take a carrier bag, throw it away,

but now it has a value because you have to pay that minimum

fee for it and you think there is worth in that.

On a busy day in Porthcawl, what do people make of the idea

of using less plastic or charging more for it?

We do get a lot of plastic along here.

It would make people think about what they are buying.

It keeps everything fresh in the fridge so probably not.

The Welsh government says it is currently evaluating

its strategy to reduce waste to benefit the economy

Roger Speed has been speaking to BBC Wales

ahead of the tournament, four and half years

As Chris Coleman and the Wales camp make their final preparations

for their first major tournament since 1958, there is little doubt

But for the family of Gary Speed, it is also a poignant

The 42-year-old had been in charge of the Wales team for less

than a year when he died in November 2011.

But the memory of him as a player and manager still endures.

At every match, the supporters and the Barry Hornes,

They still sing about him at the games, which is really good.

I don't think he will ever be forgotten,

especially if they get to finals, proper finals.

I think he will be remembered even more.

Not taking anything away from Chris because Chris is doing a great job.

Roger Speed remains close to Chris Coleman and his squad.

He will be travelling to France with the Wales team and will be

at their matches as a guest of the Football Association of Wales.

He hopes his grandsons will join him at the tournament

and he is sure his son will be watching too.

He will be there in the lads' minds, I'm sure he will.

A fairly quiet week ahead. Temperatures today reached a high of

22 Celsius and tonight some fine evening sunshine to look forward to.

The best of the sunshine in the West. Once the sun sets, temperature

is not dropping too much. The breeze does pick up. Overnight lows getting

down to about 10 Celsius. Tomorrow we have this weather front in the

East. Further west the best of the dry and brighter conditions. It is a

bright start. Cloud will increase from the east. We will hang on to

the sunshine through the West. Temperatures getting up to 22, maybe

23 Celsius. Over the coming days, Wednesday will be a cloudy day with
