have about Uber's uncontrolled growth. Join me now on and

:00:00.:00:00.

Our top stories: 30,000 people here, like Janet Lloyd, have

:00:00.:00:00.

A call for more research amid claims Wales has

:00:07.:00:10.

Police investigate a three day illegal rave held

:00:11.:00:15.

Locals call for action to ensure more aren't held.

:00:16.:00:21.

And how cutting edge science is being used to create

:00:22.:00:23.

a possible rival to Bodnant Gardens' Laburnum Arch.

:00:24.:00:40.

Wales has the highest prevalence of heart failure in the UK,

:00:41.:00:45.

The British Heart Foundation says more than 30,000 people here have

:00:46.:00:49.

been diagnosed, and nearly a third of patients admitted to hospital

:00:50.:00:52.

The charity says more research is urgently needed.

:00:53.:00:59.

Heart failure is most commonly caused by a heart attack

:01:00.:01:05.

which causes irreparable damage and if patients survive

:01:06.:01:07.

they can often find everyday things extremely tiring.

:01:08.:01:11.

More than half a million people across Britain have been

:01:12.:01:14.

Here in Wales 30,000 have been diagnosed,

:01:15.:01:22.

the highest percentage the size of population.

:01:23.:01:26.

The figures that have been published today show that we have got 30,000

:01:27.:01:30.

people living with heart failure in Wales and unfortunately Wales has

:01:31.:01:32.

the highest rates of heart failure in the UK.

:01:33.:01:35.

It is quite concerning for the health service, for us

:01:36.:01:38.

as a charity and it is certainly concerning for families and those

:01:39.:01:41.

Janet Lloyd from Swansea had a triple bypass 20 years ago but now

:01:42.:01:49.

one of the valves isn't working properly again.

:01:50.:01:52.

She can no longer tend to her garden and gets breathless doing

:01:53.:01:55.

It is constant gasping for breath, particularly going up.

:01:56.:02:04.

There is no cure for heart failure and the only hope for those

:02:05.:02:15.

with severe heart failure is a transplant.

:02:16.:02:17.

But the British Heart Foundation says more research is needed.

:02:18.:02:22.

We certainly need to find out what causes heart failure,

:02:23.:02:24.

Until we get the research done there will never be a cure for it.

:02:25.:02:30.

Then people will just be living their lives slowly or in some

:02:31.:02:33.

To combat that here in Wales the charity is funding a team

:02:34.:02:40.

of researchers at Cardiff University to investigate defects in heart

:02:41.:02:42.

muscle cells that can lead to abnormal heart rhythms.

:02:43.:02:47.

In the last year the British Heart Foundation have invested just over

:02:48.:02:50.

?2 million in our group with the aim of understanding why these abnormal

:02:51.:02:54.

heart rhythms develop and ultimately to find a cure for those.

:02:55.:03:00.

Do you think finding a cure will be possible

:03:01.:03:02.

Certainly there has been a lot of progress over the last few years.

:03:03.:03:11.

One of our particular focuses is trying to develop a drug that

:03:12.:03:14.

could be given to people with abnormal rhythms

:03:15.:03:15.

The problem with that is that it will take up to five

:03:16.:03:21.

That drug could be too far in the future for Janet Lloyd,

:03:22.:03:26.

but if successful could benefit generations to come and ultimately

:03:27.:03:28.

rid Wales of its record as heart disease capital of the UK.

:03:29.:03:32.

Police are investigating after around 2,000 people turned up

:03:33.:03:35.

for a three-day illegal rave in Ceredigion over

:03:36.:03:37.

Officers were called to the remote location near Llanddewi Brefi

:03:38.:03:43.

late on Saturday night, but decided not to break up

:03:44.:03:46.

the event due to the large number of people there.

:03:47.:03:49.

Local people have called for action to ensure more raves are not held.

:03:50.:03:53.

It's the perfect spot for a family day out.

:03:54.:04:00.

This forestry land is popular with dog walkers, cyclists and those

:04:01.:04:03.

who come to enjoy the lake, but over the bank holiday weekend

:04:04.:04:07.

Around 2,000 people descended en masse for a three day illegal rave

:04:08.:04:18.

with last minute texts and e-mails relaying the secret location.

:04:19.:04:24.

Police say they made a number of drug arrests, but did not

:04:25.:04:27.

break it up because of the sheer numbers involved.

:04:28.:04:39.

The rave was at this beautiful and remote location

:04:40.:04:41.

but there were complaints about the noise from the other

:04:42.:04:43.

Scattered about are signs of the mess left behind,

:04:44.:04:49.

but rubbish was not a big problem one visitor told me,

:04:50.:04:52.

given the obvious attempt to clear up and leave it bagged

:04:53.:04:56.

think they had become Ian is here are quite benign. They respect the

:04:57.:05:13.

countryside the same as other people do.

:05:14.:05:16.

Isolated as it is, it seems illegal raves have been making a comeback

:05:17.:05:19.

In the nearby village of Llandewi Brefi, I was told this

:05:20.:05:23.

There has been quite a few here in the last two or three years. They

:05:24.:05:36.

might be one or two a year. Is it a worry? As long as it's quiet and the

:05:37.:05:44.

same as it has been, there is no problem. They can do whatever they

:05:45.:05:51.

want a player as long as they keep us happy down here.

:05:52.:05:55.

Others strongly disagree, not least because the site has no

:05:56.:05:58.

toilets or running water and they want more action

:05:59.:06:00.

now to prevent raves from happening in the future.

:06:01.:06:02.

An investigation's under way at a Swansea hospital after two

:06:03.:06:04.

patients experienced "unexplained" low blood sugar.

:06:05.:06:06.

Abertawe Bro Morgannwg Health Board said additional security measures

:06:07.:06:08.

have been put in place at Singleton Hospital as a

:06:09.:06:10.

The two patients have made a full recovery and have

:06:11.:06:14.

No other patients are thought to have been affected.

:06:15.:06:21.

Workers at one of the UK's biggest food manufacturers have begun a two

:06:22.:06:25.

day strike over changes to terms and conditions.

:06:26.:06:27.

A union at R.F. Brookes, near Newport,

:06:28.:06:30.

to cut shift allowances for more than 100 workers,

:06:31.:06:34.

so it can afford to pay everyone the new so-called "living wage".

:06:35.:06:38.

The 2 Sisters food group, which owns the site,

:06:39.:06:40.

says it's "misleading" to link the new pay deal

:06:41.:06:43.

BBC Wales understands there are serious concerns tonight

:06:44.:06:50.

for hundreds of customers who have booked coach trips with

:06:51.:06:53.

a Pembrokeshire based company, which intends

:06:54.:06:55.

Silcox Coaches has bases in Pembroke Dock and Tenby.

:06:56.:07:00.

Around 100 jobs, including drivers and office roles, are also at risk.

:07:01.:07:04.

Big Wales football fan Liam Williams was looking forward

:07:05.:07:27.

The anniversary of the Queen's coronation was marked

:07:28.:07:30.

A royal gun salute was fired at noon outside City Hall and military bands

:07:31.:07:37.

played to celebrate 63 years since Britain's longest reigning

:07:38.:07:39.

At Bodnant Garden in the Conwy valley, thousands of visitors have

:07:40.:07:53.

arrived this week to see its famous Labernam Arch in full flower.

:07:54.:07:55.

But could it soon have a rival and one produced using

:07:56.:08:00.

No matter how many times you see it, Bodnant's Labernam Arch

:08:01.:08:08.

It's little wonder then that visitors come here

:08:09.:08:12.

from across the world at this time of year.

:08:13.:08:15.

An artist's impression of what National Trust gardeners say

:08:16.:08:19.

You'll have tall rhododendrons with cinnamon smooth bark

:08:20.:08:28.

The Penjerrick Walk's under construction.

:08:29.:08:35.

You have to be able to look into the future and I am convinced

:08:36.:08:41.

this is going to be another Labernam Arch here at bottom

:08:42.:08:44.

and garden and will have people doing the walk we have

:08:45.:08:47.

done just to see this and be wowed by it.

:08:48.:08:50.

Well, Penjerrick rhododendrons are extremely rare.

:08:51.:08:54.

These have been micro-propagated in a lab.

:08:55.:08:57.

The test tube babies of the plant world.

:08:58.:09:00.

It's all part of a programme to transform Bodnant.

:09:01.:09:03.

Five years ago there were 25 acres of garden.

:09:04.:09:06.

We are trying to provide a mixture of blends so people can see

:09:07.:09:12.

But we're doing things also that take longer and when they do take

:09:13.:09:18.

longer we let them know and hopefully take them with us

:09:19.:09:20.

so they can see it year-on-year changing and developing

:09:21.:09:22.

The new Penjerrick Walk will take years to develop, decades perhaps.

:09:23.:09:26.

At Bodnant they insist the wait will be worth it.

:09:27.:09:34.

Let's return now to that story from earlier. There are concerns the

:09:35.:09:43.

night for hundreds of customers who have booked trips with a coach

:09:44.:09:49.

company which is expected to go into administration.

:09:50.:09:55.

Big Wales football fan Liam Williams was looking forward

:09:56.:09:58.

After being one of the lucky ones to get his hands on a pair

:09:59.:10:03.

of tickets to the Wales England match at the upcoming

:10:04.:10:06.

European Championship he booked a coach trip package

:10:07.:10:08.

Or at least, that is what he thought.

:10:09.:10:11.

But since hearing the company he had booked with, Silcox Coaches,

:10:12.:10:14.

intends to file for administration he is now worried he won't make it

:10:15.:10:17.

I probably won't see this happen again in my lifetime.

:10:18.:10:22.

Wales against England in a European Championship.

:10:23.:10:25.

It is not great with the uncertainty but hopefully we'll have some good

:10:26.:10:28.

news with regards to a replacement company, but at the moment there has

:10:29.:10:31.

not been much communication with the company at all.

:10:32.:10:39.

As well as worried customers, Silcox coach drivers stood around

:10:40.:10:41.

The company has been operating in Pembrokeshire since the 1930s

:10:42.:10:47.

and currently employs around 100 staff.

:10:48.:10:51.

But over the bank holiday weekend it came to light the company may soon

:10:52.:10:55.

This is Silcox's main yard here in Pembroke Dock and as you can

:10:56.:11:02.

see behind me a number of coaches are parked up.

:11:03.:11:05.

Earlier on today more than half a dozen blue Edwards coaches turned

:11:06.:11:09.

up here as the company prepares to take responsibility

:11:10.:11:11.

for school transport routes across South Pembrokeshire

:11:12.:11:14.

With around 2,000 children in the county who rely

:11:15.:11:19.

on buses to get to school, the council says it has had

:11:20.:11:22.

to act quickly over half term to find a solution.

:11:23.:11:27.

We are fortunate that with our own team and some

:11:28.:11:29.

of the teams from both Edwards Coaches and the other

:11:30.:11:32.

operators in the area, they have pulled together very well

:11:33.:11:35.

in helping us to make sure we have service continuity for next Monday.

:11:36.:11:39.

There has been no official comment from Silcox Coaches yet,

:11:40.:11:41.

but the Confederation of Passenger transport UK says it wants

:11:42.:11:43.

to reassure customers that it's carrying out a full review

:11:44.:11:47.

of the company's situation and will give an update on Monday.

:11:48.:11:50.

So for people like Liam the wait continues, but it's hoped this

:11:51.:11:54.

won't be the end of the road for this football fan's dream.

:11:55.:12:00.

Time to find out if there's more sunshine on the way tomorrow.

:12:01.:12:03.

Wales is definitely the place to be at the moment. The whole country

:12:04.:12:17.

that skiing in sunshine today and more sunshine to come tomorrow.

:12:18.:12:22.

Tonight the skies remain clear so it will turn quite cool. Tomorrow

:12:23.:12:31.

morning try again and sunny the most diverse but some cloud likely in the

:12:32.:12:33.

far south-east. Further west, plenty of sunshine.

:12:34.:12:53.

Note that -- lovely in Northern Ireland and sunshine for the South

:12:54.:12:56.

of Scotland and North West of England. Temperatures up to a warm

:12:57.:13:02.

18 Celsius in Belfast but much cooler on the East close, only 13

:13:03.:13:08.

Celsius in Skegness. A fine afternoon in Wales tomorrow. A few

:13:09.:13:13.

fair weather clouds and plenty more sunshine and pleasantly warm. The

:13:14.:13:21.

pollen count is on the rise. Tomorrow night a bit of a change.

:13:22.:13:25.

Cloud will spread westwards bringing spots of rain with it and also some

:13:26.:13:30.

missed until fog but staying dry in the south-west. Saturday not quite

:13:31.:13:35.

so nice. Some missed but that will lift and a few showers breaking out

:13:36.:13:39.

and they could turn heavy in places with thunder. Sunday will be the

:13:40.:13:47.

better Dave most of us. Drier and sunnier. Warm as well. A few

:13:48.:13:51.

thundery showers breaking out during the afternoon. It looks like there

:13:52.:13:57.

is more warm weather to come next week with the risk of a few heavy

:13:58.:14:01.

showers. That is all from me. Good night.

:14:02.:14:05.

We'll have updates from around 6.25am

:14:06.:14:08.
