One of China's biggest buyers of fine foods says Wales has much

:00:00.:00:08.

work to do when it comes to selling our goods

:00:09.:00:11.

Pontypridd MP Owen Smith will go head to head with Jeremy Corbyn

:00:12.:00:18.

And a murder investigation continues after the death of a young

:00:19.:00:23.

One of China's biggest fine food buyers, visiting

:00:24.:00:46.

the Royal Welsh show, has told this programme that Wales

:00:47.:00:49.

needs to do much more to raise its profile and be more

:00:50.:00:52.

successful in exporting goods to the world.

:00:53.:00:54.

As Britain prepares to leave the European Union,

:00:55.:00:57.

the pressure to find new, untapped markets for Wales,

:00:58.:01:00.

A taste of Wales in the food hall at the Royal Welsh Show.

:01:01.:01:10.

We have started exporting to China, Hong Kong, Japan, the US.

:01:11.:01:14.

We have dabbled with the Middle East, as well.

:01:15.:01:23.

From honey made in Powys exported all across the globe,

:01:24.:01:25.

to cheeses and ice cream and even bottled water,

:01:26.:01:27.

the show is not just a chance to sell to those

:01:28.:01:30.

Wales is still largely unknown overseas,

:01:31.:01:33.

Daniel says to reach new markets, building Brand Wales is key.

:01:34.:01:38.

We still need to understand each other, not only the products,

:01:39.:01:43.

but also the culture, the commercial things.

:01:44.:01:45.

If we could obtain better conditions between two countries,

:01:46.:01:51.

This organic milk is already exported to China and they hope that

:01:52.:01:57.

raising the profile internationally will boost trade for

:01:58.:01:59.

Wales having done well in the football has made the general

:02:00.:02:08.

awareness of Wales of a higher profile but we need Daniel

:02:09.:02:12.

to understand how green and fresh and different Wales is to China.

:02:13.:02:18.

So he is able to go and show off a product from Wales.

:02:19.:02:24.

Since 1999, the value of Wales' exports has jumped from ?1.7 billion

:02:25.:02:30.

It is not just food and drink here at the Show that

:02:31.:02:36.

There are all sorts of products looking to sell all over the world

:02:37.:02:41.

Our main market remains the UK but the percentage of exports has

:02:42.:02:47.

We are exporting more than 30% of our product range.

:02:48.:02:54.

And in due course, it could be over half of our output goes overseas.

:02:55.:02:57.

The First Minister was at the show today talking trade.

:02:58.:03:02.

He says despite the huge potential of global markets,

:03:03.:03:04.

securing access to the European market is the priority

:03:05.:03:08.

The bottom line has to be that when Brexit happens,

:03:09.:03:12.

our exporters can have access to that European market

:03:13.:03:16.

without having to pay extra to get into it.

:03:17.:03:19.

But to achieve that, it might well be that the UK

:03:20.:03:22.

Government has to also accept free movement of labour which could be

:03:23.:03:25.

At such an uncertain time, the need to find new ways to grow

:03:26.:03:31.

the Welsh economy for the future is more important than ever.

:03:32.:03:36.

The Pontypridd MP, Owen Smith says he's capable of getting

:03:37.:03:38.

Tonight, he's now the only candidate to challenge Jeremy Corbyn

:03:39.:03:47.

for the Labour leadership after Angela Eagle pulled

:03:48.:03:49.

The former Welsh Secretary, Lord Murphy, says he can

:03:50.:03:52.

I will take Jeremy on on the issues and on the policies.

:03:53.:04:00.

I think I have ideas that can turn some of these slogans we have had

:04:01.:04:04.

Solutions that would lead to better material improvements

:04:05.:04:10.

That is what Labour is about, we're about helping people get on,

:04:11.:04:16.

We have to be seen as that once more, and under my

:04:17.:04:21.

Two people have been arrested tonight as part of a murder

:04:22.:04:25.

investigation in a north Wales village.

:04:26.:04:26.

The body of Emma Louise Borm was found in the garden of a house

:04:27.:04:30.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder -

:04:31.:04:39.

and a woman on suspicion of perverting the course of justice,

:04:40.:04:41.

The search for clues has extended beyond the small terraced house

:04:42.:04:49.

where Emma Louise Borm lived with her two-year-old son,

:04:50.:04:51.

to the surrounding streets and even the drains.

:04:52.:04:52.

It was in the early hours of a warm Sunday morning that one witness,

:04:53.:04:58.

who did not want to be identified, told me he heard a woman

:04:59.:05:01.

screaming and shouting, stop, please, and sorry,

:05:02.:05:03.

He rang 999 at about 4am, even describing hearing footsteps

:05:04.:05:06.

But when he woke up later that morning, he learned

:05:07.:05:10.

This quiet street is still absorbing the full horror of what happened.

:05:11.:05:17.

It is quite shocking because we are a close community

:05:18.:05:19.

and everyone perceives that things happen in big cities where people

:05:20.:05:24.

are found like this and we are just thinking of the family.

:05:25.:05:27.

It is just a close-knit community and virtually everybody knows

:05:28.:05:29.

And as I say, everybody helps each other out,

:05:30.:05:37.

This afternoon, a postmortem examination has been carried out.

:05:38.:05:42.

North Wales Police said they sent officers to investigate a possible

:05:43.:05:45.

disturbance in the early hours of yesterday but did not

:05:46.:05:47.

As is customary in such cases, the matter has been referred

:05:48.:05:53.

to the Independent Police Complaints Commission.

:05:54.:06:00.

On social media, those who knew Emma Louise Borm have been offering

:06:01.:06:03.

each other condolences and sharing memories of the last

:06:04.:06:05.

There are still many unanswered questions for family and friends.

:06:06.:06:08.

Some of whom have told us that they are too raw to speak

:06:09.:06:11.

to the media today but they have all paid tribute to a popular young

:06:12.:06:15.

woman who was a loving mother to her small son.

:06:16.:06:19.

Caerphilly Council has unanimously voted to scrap plans to build

:06:20.:06:21.

thousands of new houses, many on greenfield land.

:06:22.:06:25.

People in the area had protested that the plans

:06:26.:06:27.

for Caerphilly Mountain, and other green spaces

:06:28.:06:29.

around the town, would ruin the environment.

:06:30.:06:32.

The authority will instead work with neighbouring authorities

:06:33.:06:35.

A big drop in the number of district nurses in Wales is placing pressure

:06:36.:06:42.

on GP surgeries and emergency departments, according

:06:43.:06:44.

It claims a 42% reduction in district nurse numbers since 2009

:06:45.:06:50.

could also be contributing to re-admissions to hospital.

:06:51.:06:52.

The Welsh Government says the number of all nurses is up overall,

:06:53.:06:57.

and district nurses are increasingly being used to lead and

:06:58.:06:59.

Fire fighters have put out a fire on a bus in the centre

:07:00.:07:09.

It meant part of Castle street, near the Angel Hotel,

:07:10.:07:12.

No one was on board and nobody was injured.

:07:13.:07:16.

It's thought it was started accidentally.

:07:17.:07:20.

Football, and the New Saints have been knocked out

:07:21.:07:22.

of the Champions League in the second qualifying round,

:07:23.:07:24.

Despite a goalless draw in the first leg and a clean sheet at half time,

:07:25.:07:30.

the Saints were beaten 3-0 by Apoel Nicosia,

:07:31.:07:34.

including a late penalty for the hosts in injury time.

:07:35.:07:38.

Wales has been experiencing the hottest day of the year so far,

:07:39.:07:41.

Some of us could see some thunderstorms.

:07:42.:07:45.

A few places reaching 30 degrees today. It will not last. It will

:07:46.:08:06.

stay warm tomorrow with some decent sunny spells but also some showers.

:08:07.:08:08.

Overnight, it'll stay muggy with cloud spreading

:08:09.:08:10.

Most places stay dry, but scattered heavy showers

:08:11.:08:13.

These may be heavy in parts of the north and west.

:08:14.:08:16.

Temperatures holding up in the high teens, low 20s, and it will feel

:08:17.:08:20.

There's a Met Office warning in place for a risk of those showers

:08:21.:08:26.

Torrential downpours possible, but also hit and miss.

:08:27.:08:29.

Tomorrow's chart shows a trough of low pressure moving

:08:30.:08:32.

As this hits the hot and humid air, it will trigger

:08:33.:08:39.

So a few scattered showers tomorrow, especially further north and west,

:08:40.:08:43.

Those thunder showers probably heaviest across northern

:08:44.:08:48.

England and Scotland, although we could see see them

:08:49.:08:50.

Most places just stay dry and bright with sunny spells.

:08:51.:08:56.

More cloud than today and temperatures down slightly,

:08:57.:09:00.

but still into the low 30s in south-east England.

:09:01.:09:02.

The best of the sunshine, further east across Wales,

:09:03.:09:07.

Temperatures lower than today, but still very warm.

:09:08.:09:11.

Thursday's cooler and fresher with a mixture of sunny spells

:09:12.:09:19.

and a just few scattered showers pushing in from the west later.

:09:20.:09:26.

It is that mix of sunny spells and just take you showers, probably dry

:09:27.:09:39.

on Friday and we keep the relatively warm weather but lose the heat as we

:09:40.:09:41.

head into the weekend. Coming up next, Week In Week Out

:09:42.:09:43.

talks to voters about why Wales For now, though, from everyone

:09:44.:09:49.

on the programme, good night.

:09:50.:09:53.
