Tonight's headlines: Five bodies have now been recovered in Snowdonia

And coracle fishermen choose to return their catch as salmon

stocks on the River Teifi approach "crisis point".

Five bodies have been recovered from a helicopter

The operation had been hampered by poor weather

Married couple Kevin and Ruth Burke owned the helicopter.

They were on board with three other members of their family,

named tonight as Donald, Barry and Sharon Burke.

They were travelling from near Milton Keynes on Wednesday

en route to Dublin when they crashed in the Rhinog mountains.

More than 80 people have been involved in the recovery

and investigation, as Roger Pinney reports.

A break in the weather, and a search and rescue helicopter was able to

fly over the scene. The area is known as the Celtic Badlands, so

tough is the terrain there. At last a recovery operation could get

underway. Convoys of vehicles making the tortuous journey to the site,

carrying teams drafted in to help. This is as close as we are allowed

to get to the crash site. From here, it is a half hour in a four by four

and then to our climate for, scrambled to more than 400 metres

above sea level. This evening, police confirmed that five bodies

have not been recovered. More than 80 people have been involved in the

operation, from the military, the police, coastguard and civilian

mountain rescue teams. This photo, released at the request of the

family of those who died, shows where the crash happened, and an

indication of the conditions. That is something North Wales Police

spoke about earlier in the day. We have got very skilled individuals of

their the moment, but even they are finding it extremely difficult.

The slopes are very slippery and treacherous, and the recent rains

have not made the underfoot particularly easy either. Heather

has become very slippery as well on the Downs, so it is particularly

challenging up there. Those he died included Kevin and

Ruth Burke from the Milton Keynes. The helicopter is registered to

them. The others were members of their family, all travelling to a

family baptism in Ireland. At home, there was this reaction.

Very, very sad. And of course, terrible shock for people who live

in this community. As you can see, it is a very small one, and Kevin

Andrews had only just moved into this magnificent new house that they

had been building for the last couple of years. -- Kevin and Ruth.

For the aviation authorities, the main task now is to discover what

went wrong. A team is already at work. Once recovered, the wreckage

will be minutely examined at the Air Accident Investigation branch

headquarters at Farnworth in Hampshire.

If it is a fairly straightforward accident, the investigators will

have a reasonable idea of what happened fairly soon. However, they

have to cover all possibilities, and the investigation will follow the

same processes as it would if they weren't certain of what happened.

But nothing will happen quickly. The terrain and weather conspired to

make this all an exacting, arduous operation.

A Wrexham council binman has pleaded guilty to three terror offences.

49-year-old Aabid Ali - from Yale Park in Wrexham -

was known as Darren Glennon before he converted to Islam.

He was found in possession of two terror manuals,

and also published a statement on YouTube encouraging others

He'll be sentenced next month in Manchester.

A man in his twenties has been charged with murder,

after the death of a disabled man in Wrexham.

The body of 67-year-old Nicholas Anthony Churton

was found at his home in Crescent Close on Monday morning.

Jordan Davidson also faces three charges of robbery,

two of burglary, and offences against police officers.

He's due to appear before Wrexham magistrates in the morning.

One of Britain's best known endurance cyclists has been killed

35-year-old Mike Hall lived in Monmouthshire,

He was competing in the Indian Pacific Wheel Race,

south of Canberra, when he was hit by a car.

The race, from Perth to Sydney, was cancelled after the crash.

Coracle fishermen on the River Teifi are taking the unprecedented step

It's because of increasing concerns about fish stocks.

Natural Resources Wales says the situation is

approaching "crisis point". Aled Scourfield reports.

These fishermen have the guardians of a tradition that has been

practised in the rivers of Wales since pre-Roman times. The Teifi

coracle men still use their ancient craft to capture salmon and sea weed

with nets. The river Teifi is often described as the Queen of Welsh game

fishing rivers, but there is mounting concern about salmon

numbers. These coracle men say they have taken the difficult the season

to release the salmon they catch. From the 1st of April till the 1st

of June, we have to release any salmon that we catch anyway, as part

of the licence regulations. However, from that time on till the end of

the season, we have made the decision now to actually release all

salmon that we catch, and put them back into the system so they can

follow on to spawn. What has prompted that? Is it purely

witnessing this decline in the last few years?

Yeah, definitely. A decline in the fish we are catching, you want to

make sure this fishing style is kept for our children to be able to be

done in generations to come. Latest figures from Natural

Resources Wales show that there has been a sharp decline in the number

of salmon caught on the Teifi. There were around 115 declared net catches

of salmon in 2014. That's more than halved to around 45 in 2015.

Declared rod catches of salmon are also down from 320 14 to around 210

the following year. But what is responsible for the decline? There

have been very well-publicised pollution incidents on other parts

of the River Thames macro. More than a thousand fish were killed back in

December by a slurry league. There is also concern global warming may

be having an impact on the temperature of our rivers, which may

in turn affects pawning. Coracle men on the Teifi say they have no option

but to protect what is left. We would like the river to thrive,

you know? It wouldn't be good to fish it out, for sure.

Natural Resources Wales will be holding a consultation in me on

whether to make catch and release compulsory across the country to

help protect fish stocks, and they admit that salmon stocks on the

Teifi are reaching crisis point. Generally, the number of salmon

stocks in particular have been declining over the last few years.

We picked this up to the ongoing monitoring work we undertake. So it

is coming to a fairly critical position, especially in light of

salmon stocks at the moment. Are we talking about a crisis?

We're getting very close to a crisis situation, and it is now time that

something is done to try and address this matter.

These coracle men hope their decision to return their catches of

salmon will be followed by other fishermen and the Teifi to help

protect this river for future generations.

Hello. We are in for a mixed bag this weekend. That means sunshine

and April showers tomorrow, but better on Sunday, fine and dry

thanks to a ridge of high pressure. Tonight, more rain and showers on

the way. Heavy in places. Drying up in the south-west later in the

night, and slightly fresher than recent nights, with temperatures

dropping into single figures. Tomorrow, there will be showers

around in the morning. They could be having in places, but some dry,

bright weather and sunshine as well. Across the rest of the UK, a similar

story, really. Sunshine and showers, some showers heavy, hail and thunder

possible. Some parts will be lucky and stay dry. The best of the

sunshine on some of the coast. Top temperatures, 13 in Belfast, up to

15 in London. Close to home, case of dodging showers tomorrow afternoon,

and they could be heavy, with hail and thunder. Part of the north and

West will become sunny later in the afternoon, with highs of 11 in

Aberystwyth, 14 in Newport. Tomorrow evening, Lenny showers in South

Wales will fade away, leaving us all dry overnight. The sky will be clear

and it will turn chilly, with a touch of ground frost in the

countryside. Sunday looks a nice day, dry with sunny spells. Some are

building up inland. Temperatures not that high, but in the sunshine and

light winds, it will feel pleasantly warm. On Monday, more dry weather to

come, but it may not stay dry all day. Rain over Ireland will spread

across Wales during the evening and on Monday night. And then beyond

that, high pressure over the Atlantic is going to take control.

So, sunshine and April showers tomorrow. Sunday, the better day of

the weekend. A drop of rain on Monday night, and the rest of the
