The acting chair of UKIP in Wales has told BBC Wales he thinks

the party's leader here, Nathan Gill, has been expelled.

It comes amid criticism of Mr Gill for so-called "double jobbing",

after he promised to stand down as an MEP, if he were elected

Our political correspondent, Arwyn Jones has more.

He's been the face of UKIP in Wales for years, more prominent

than any other member of his party during the assembly election

But tonight it's unclear if Nathan Gill is still

Before being elected to the Assembly, Mr Gill had

But now he says that would cause a by-election, so problems

for the party, and an unnecessary expense for the taxpayer.

The party's ruling body had threatened to expel him,

and this morning, speaking to me on BBC Radio Wales'

Sunday Supplement programme, a senior member of the party

in Wales said Mr Gill has been kicked out.

But as I understand it, his expulsion from the party will be

automatically taking effect today because I had a communication last

night from the National Executive who said that it would be automatic.

On the 31st of July, the NEC result to expel

Nathan Gill of the party membership effective Sunday the 7th

of August unless he either resigns as an AM or as an MEP.

UKIP have failed to respond to our requests of

Aides of Mr Gill insist the issue will be discussed at a meeting

tomorrow and, in the meantime, he's still a member.

But they also say he was asked to remain as an MEP

He would stand as an independent which would be a great shame to see

the reader of Ukip in Wales kicked out the party by doing what has been

asked of him by Nigel Farage, the party chairman and party director to

stay on until this post could then be filled.

Mr Gill was appointed leader of UKIP in Wales in December 2014.

If he's thrown out, it will be the latest in a series of damaging

splits which have plagued the party over the past year.

A factory unit and cars have been severely damaged in a blaze
