The "door is very much open" on the introduction of a law that | :00:12. | :00:15.
would guarantee the rights of autistic people in Wales, | :00:16. | :00:17.
The Social Services Minister says it's important to give other | :00:18. | :00:21.
policies in relation to autism the "chance to bed in", | :00:22. | :00:26.
but campaigners say an Autism Bill must be introduced. | :00:27. | :00:29.

Half-term fun for these chidren at the Special Needs Action | :00:36. | :00:37.
Among them, four-year-old Mason and six-year-old Logan, | :00:38. | :00:42.
In the beginning, it was really hard. | :00:43. | :00:48.
You literally get a diagnosis and you get handed a book - | :00:49. | :00:54.
this is autism - and sent on your way with nothing. | :00:55. | :00:57.
It's really isolating, and it's actually quite depressing. | :00:58. | :01:00.
Mason and Logan are two of an estimated 34,000 children | :01:01. | :01:03.
and adults in Wales with autism, a lifelong developmental disability | :01:04. | :01:14.
that affects how people perceive the world and interact with others. | :01:15. | :01:19.
There are varying degrees of autism that affects a wider | :01:20. | :01:21.
community of around 136,000, including families and carers, | :01:22. | :01:23.

would guarantee the rights of autistic people. | :01:31. | :01:34.
The motion was defeated because Labour AMs and Liberal | :01:35. | :01:36.
Democrat Kirsty Williams - who's a member of the Welsh | :01:37. | :01:39.
But campaigners maintain an Autism Act is needed. | :01:40. | :01:44.
The Welsh Government has an autism strategy. | :01:45. | :01:50.
It was the first of its kind in the United Kingdom and it has | :01:51. | :01:53.
achieved a great deal in terms of raising awareness, | :01:54. | :01:57.
but there's a real feeling now that more needs to be done | :01:58. | :02:00.
The door is very much open and we're keeping everything | :02:01. | :02:05.
However, as I say, the act and the integrated autism service - | :02:06. | :02:11.
both major things in terms of delivering to people with autism | :02:12. | :02:23.
- are only six months old, so we do need to give them a chance | :02:24. | :02:27.
Ultimately, whether it's a new strategy or an act, | :02:28. | :02:31.
it's about ensuring that Logan, Mason and others with autism | :02:32. | :02:33.
