The opera singer Bryn Terfel says he's immensely proud to have


received a knighthood in the New Year Honours list.

One of Wales's most famous exports, Bryn Terfel has been performing


on the stage for more than a quarter of a century.


Now he is adding a knighthood for services to music


This is hopefully something that I will carry with pride


and hopefully, also think that it might help some young singers


Football manager Chris Coleman led Wales to their first major


guiding them to the semifinals of Euro 2016.


Tonight, at the annual North Scallon races in Mountain Ash,


he spoke of his pride in being recognised.


It's been a bit of a mad year, you know, very exciting,


very exciting for the whole nation and just to finish it off


with a personal honour, yeah, I'm absolutely thrilled,


There were honours too for our real gold medallists.


Cyclist Owain Doull and Elinor Barker and sailor


Hannah Mills have all been made MBEs, as well as the Paralympic gold


medallists javelin thrower Hollie Arnold and table tennis


Community service has also been recognised.


Vivian Gray has been a volunteer crew member with the Little


and Broad Haven Lifeboat Station for 26 years and is made an MBE.


I was absolutely amazed, I wasn't quite sure why I had


a letter from the Cabinet Office on Her Majesty's service,


but it's brilliant, I'm honoured to be getting it for the RNLI.

In a list of more than 1,000 people, more than 50 people from Wales have


been honoured for their wide-ranging achievements and contributions.


Police are searching a house in Bristol believed to be the home


of a 31-year-old man with links to Swansea who was found


Mohammed Abdurezak was found with several stab wounds


Police say the search is expected to take several days.


There have been more than 3,500 crashes involving emergency service


vehicles in the past five years - that's according to figures


obtained under the Freedom of Information act.

I would encourage members of the public, if they can't see


the road ahead, emergency response drivers can't see ahead either,


so they need to be mindful and stay calm and not necessarily stop,


but slow down to find a safe place for the emergency vehicle to pass.

It's a fantastic and very, very proud record to have.
