Good evening. A dry and fairly quiet start tonight across many

areas but for some that's about to change, particularly across

southern parts of the country, it's going to turn wet and for some

thundery as well. The reason is a low pressure system across northern

France, the thunder storms have been brewing spreading northwards.

You will notice across northern areas a different picture, we have

the cloud, broken in places, a cool night but it's those storms that

cause us concern. The wet weather will get as far as the Midlands but

it's the south-east where we could see the most torrential of the

downpours, potential for problems for the the journey to work in the

morning, a lot of surface water around.

Still a lot of surface water, and even in East Anglia and the south-

east, and to the north of the Midlands it's a different picture.

We start the day drier and brighter, a little on the cool side for

northern England and Scotland but one or two showers around. Most

will see a few glimpses of sunshine. For Northern Ireland a quiet start

with the cloud breaking in places to allow sunnier moments and it

should stay largely dry for many. Brightness to the north-west of

Wales but to the south-east we could see rain in Cardiff and as

far west as Devon. The main area of rain through the

day will start to become confined to eastern areas. The rain gets out

of the way in the morning but it's persistent rain through Midlands

will limit temperatures. Warming up if you get sunshine in the south-

east, although that will be limited. Brighter to the west and north. A

few showers in Scotland and Northern Ireland, most will be dry.

Tomorrow the rain gets out of the way from the east and we cast our

eyes to the west for the next band of thundery rain. It's been driven
