now, from the BBC London late team, Good evening. It is another wet

night for many of us, but the rain is not invited for the weekend. For

most, the next couple of days are set fair. Be prepared for a brace

of bracing mornings. Some fog patches, but generally a dry

weekend with sunny spells on Saturday and Sunday. It was far

from a sunny evening across the south. You can see a line of rain

across South Wales and southern counties of England. South of the

Midlands, it will stay wet for the next few hours with heavy bursts of

rain. North of Birmingham, there are a few showers but it is

generally dry with clear spells. And turning chilly. Those

temperatures are in towns and cities. In rural areas, closer to

freezing. It will be a chilly start to Saturday but sunny for many.

Showers across parts of Northern Ireland and Scotland, but across

much of central and southern Scotland and northern England, a

sparkling start to the weekend. But it will be chilly. The same across

the Midlands and much of Wales. And the heavy rain across the south-

west of England tonight is also clearing. Perhaps still lingering

in the far south-east, certainly a bit of cloud here early in the day.

The rain gradually moves away from the south-east and the Channel

Isles, so most places will enjoy a sunny spells through the day. One

or two scattered showers but for most it will be fine. After a

chilly start, temperatures eventually getting into the teens.

It will feel pleasant enough in the sunshine. Still a bit breezy in

northern Scotland. And temperatures will drop sharply tomorrow evening.

The cloud melts away. Expect it to be dry, but cold. There will also

be mist and fog patches forming. But the thing you will really

notice on Sunday morning is the temperature. Some of the towns

across northern England and southern Scotland dipping to

freezing or even below. It will be a cold start to sunbed at high

pressure promises another fine day. This weather front clears but then

threatens to return. It might bring more cloud across the far south-
