week, temperatures will struggle to
get above freezing. If you | 0:00:00 | 0:00:02
get above freezing. If you are
heading further afield, here's the | 0:00:03 | 0:00:05
National forecast. | 0:00:05 | 0:00:06
Good evening. Quiet but cold as the
theme as we head towards the | 0:00:10 | 0:00:14
weekend. A frosty start first thing
in the morning. There could be some | 0:00:14 | 0:00:17
snow as we head into next week. More
on that in a moment. We close the | 0:00:17 | 0:00:22
day out to the west with quite a lot
of cloud around. That has been the | 0:00:22 | 0:00:25
story through the afternoon. There
has been some sunshine. Beautiful, | 0:00:25 | 0:00:28
as you can see from this picture
sent in by Christian in Berkshire. | 0:00:28 | 0:00:33
As we had through the weekend we
will continue to see some lovely | 0:00:33 | 0:00:36
spells of sunshine around. But it is
going to turn increasingly colder | 0:00:36 | 0:00:40
and that is due to the direction and
strength of the wind. For the next | 0:00:40 | 0:00:44
few hours it is the status quo. We
have cloud out to the west, we have | 0:00:44 | 0:00:48
clear skies. Where we have seen a
clear skies by day, temperatures | 0:00:48 | 0:00:51
will fall away. The blue tones are
denoting temperatures as cold as | 0:00:51 | 0:00:58
freezing, maybe low as minus four
degrees. This white is actually | 0:00:58 | 0:01:03
frost. The sunshine will lift the
frost as we go through the day. | 0:01:03 | 0:01:07
Again, some sun around. The
exception is Northern Ireland, | 0:01:07 | 0:01:10
perhaps the south-west of England.
Temperatures perhaps sitting at | 0:01:10 | 0:01:13
about four or 7 degrees. Don't start
shivering yet. It is set to get | 0:01:13 | 0:01:18
colder over the next few days. The
easterly breeze will continue to | 0:01:18 | 0:01:22
strengthen, perhaps driving in more
cloud across North Sea coasts. As we | 0:01:22 | 0:01:25
go through the night we still have
clear skies and, yes, temperatures | 0:01:25 | 0:01:29
falling away quite widely again,
even through Northern Ireland into | 0:01:29 | 0:01:33
Sunday morning. Lows quite widely of
-4 minus five degrees. Another | 0:01:33 | 0:01:39
widespread hard frost. The sunshine
will have its work cut out, lifting | 0:01:39 | 0:01:44
the frost. We will see a lovely
afternoon for many. More sunshine | 0:01:44 | 0:01:48
from Northern Ireland with the
chance of some cloud and maybe a | 0:01:48 | 0:01:51
wintry showers into the far
north-east of Scotland. It is going | 0:01:51 | 0:01:55
to feel colder, particularly when
you factor in the wind. Perhaps | 0:01:55 | 0:01:57
feeling more like -1 watt -3 when
you are out and about for any length | 0:01:57 | 0:02:02
of time. From Monday onwards, things
could start to get a bit more | 0:02:02 | 0:02:06
interesting. We pick up more
moisture from the North Sea, which | 0:02:06 | 0:02:09
could drive showers to start with
across the East Coast. As we go | 0:02:09 | 0:02:13
through the week, some of these will
start to push further inland. Yes, | 0:02:13 | 0:02:17
they will be showers of snow. So, if
you haven't already got the message, | 0:02:17 | 0:02:22
it is going to continue to feel
bitterly cold over the next few | 0:02:22 | 0:02:25
days. We could see some snow at
times. Frost and ice will be a | 0:02:25 | 0:02:29
feature as well. If I | 0:02:29 | 0:02:30 |
