the planet right now. It is happening here in central Berlin,

half a million people in and around the Brandenburg Gate and lining the

road as the German team makes their way home from Rio. They are the

champions of world football. I do not think there would be a German

that does not want to be here right now ready to congratulate them.

Every single movement of the team is broadcast on national television.

And on social media, you can hear the crowd roaring. Some of them have

been here all night, making sure they got the perfect spot to welcome

the team home. CHEERING You will have to excuse me, it could

be the team arriving, we think they are pretty close, they prosecute

arrived on the other side of the Brandenburg gate. -- they possibly

has arrived, we are seconds away from the German team waving to

Berlin, it feels like the whole country has descended on the capital

for this event. It is awash with German colours and flags, the sense

of pride is incredible? Sorry, every raw, it feels like one of the

players is going to walk onto the stage. Incredible event, you would

not imagine this is Tuesday. This would usually be a mundane day, but

this is the biggest street party in the world right now. The Germans,

they said we can compete with the Brazilians in terms of parties, and

they are proving it right now. Noone forget about Brazil, it is all in

Berlin, it is all about excitement, they will bring the trophy home to

the adoring fans. When the aeroplane came over, they must have got

special permission, and the crowd roared, imagine being a German

footballer, looking out of the window and looking at half a million

people waving at you. I would not put it past them closing down the

airspace in Germany. The streets are clogged with people, people hanging

out of the windows. The colours are black yellow and red. They are not

just slightly late, to an half hours late, and it is a hot day. Some of

these people have been waiting for 12 hours. They arrived late last

night, some of them setting up tents to make sure they got the best

seats. Some people have been waiting for many hours but there is no sense

of aggression or anger. People completely understand other people

want their moment, as the bus has been going by, the players have been

holding up the World Cup to the window to see. We understand buses

have arrived and the players will be presented soon. Tom, what is nice,

interesting to see which player gets the best reception, you get the

sense from the Germans this was a team effort? Mario Gotze... Super

Mario as we like to call him, you would assume he would get the

biggest reception. What distinguishes this side, they have

played as a team, Joachim Low treats them as a team. Although he said he

those few moments in the final, Messi had a chance and some

Argentinian players looked like scoring. We have hearts in the

mouth, we thought this could be a big anticlimax. Now it is a sunny

day here and the biggest party in the planet, let's enjoy it. This is

a working day here, some big German companies on Sunday, like Mercedes,

bolts wagon -- and other companies, they stopped the production line to

let the workers watch the final. You have to feel sorry for those that

could not make it out today, to be part of this, people have been

saying, they part of this, people have been

history. History in the making, and this team is for all Germans because

it is representative of Germany. Players from Bavaria, they will go

to the national capital but then they will go to Bavaria and there

will be a huge celebration. It is almost like a country within itself,

it is full of pride, that part of Germany. It is the powerhouse of

German football, they in Munich -- Bayern Munich. But coming back here,

Mesut Ozil, Turkish heritage, summary people follow him on

Twitter. Very popular player. -- so many people follow him. The social

media has been a big thing, so much money has been spent on it. It has

been immense and so important in the World Cup, we have been glued to our

phones and iPads. The people we are following are not the news

organisations, it has been the players, Schweinsteiger, Mesut Ozil.

I saw a tweet on Sunday night, Angela Merkel, the photo, it went

around the world. You can only imagine how big social media will be

at the next World Cup. I have more questions on social media, the

latest we are hearing is the players are here, they are behind the

Brandenburg Gate. They have gone for something to eat, they are hungry.

They have been signing T-shirts, you can understand, after a long flight

and a trip through the city. They need sustenance. You can forgive

them for having something to eat. They are desperate to get here. A

lot of them have and probably slept, not much to eat. A little bit of

respite and a pep talk before coming on from Jurgen Lowe. You mentioned

Bastian Schweinsteiger, he said this was amazing, the moment he was

looking forward to. Some players might not think it is a real until

they greet the fans. The fans saying that they want to thank them for a

great month of football. Germany played consistently throughout the

tournament and delivered some great football, attacking football, it was

very entertaining to watch. The Germans have been enjoying this for

the month, outdoor stadiums and parks, one stadium in Berlin where

people were allowed to bring their couches from home, and they were

allowed to watch the games, you come in from the airport and you see the

open spaces where people have been watching. The Germans have relished

every moment of the World Cup? They play such an exciting brand of

football, linking up well, shots on target, they do not close down

games, they try to win, this is the brand of football from Joachim Low.

It is amazing here, it is a beautiful city of green parks and

public spaces and the World Cup has been played out in these public

spaces. We saw people kicking the ball around in front of the

parliament, people have come out, since the early hours of the

morning, people have slept overnight to get the best position. It has

been an incredible World Cup and what a fitting finale, to be in

Berlin, so far away from Brazil but it feels like the centre of the

world right now. It feels like of the world, we will hand back to

London but you will be joining us in a moment I am sure when we see the

cabinet accepted an Egyptian cease-fire proposal. By Mr Benjamin

reject the cease-fire as it stands because they were not consulted and

they want an end to the Israeli siege and blockade. We have been

Hamas movement did not receive the cease-fire proposal, we were not

part of the announcement and we are not going to commit to it, that is

what Hamas has told the BBC this morning. Here in Ashkelon, in

Israel, not far from the border with Gaza, people have heard a number of

explosions. We heard of a rocket landing in Ashdod, 30 metres from

the border with Gaza. He is also saying they want an end to the siege

and the blockade in Gaza. Talking about the long-term situation. Hamas

saying they will continue to defend their people, the fact Rockets have

come over, how far will Israel go, how long will it allow for a

decision from Hamas on this cease-fire? The Israeli army, after

I am just seeing the death toll has climbed to 89. I do not know if we

have confirmation of that. It is clearly a difficult day. It is. A

sea of faces and the noise has been incredible. Lucy is there for us. We

are waiting to see their team come out. We are waiting. Half a million

of us are waiting. You can hear the hush of the crowd after being so

rowdy over the past few hours. There is a silence that has descended.

People are aware that the players are there and they are about to come

out at any moment. They have had a bite to eat and have prepared

themselves. This is probably the moment the players have been looking

forward to most as well. On social media, the players have said they

will not believe it has happened until they face their fans in

bus or come down here to the Brandenburg gate and wait for the

fans. Lots of children in the crowd as well because it is a school

holiday in Germany right now. Lots of kids have come down to get their

little piece of history. How great if you are a young football fan here

in Germany to say you work outside the Brandenburg gate to watch the
