Good evening. stay with us on BBC One, | :00:10. | :00:13.
There were scenes of jubilation at Home Park this afternoon | :00:14. | :00:16.
as Plymouth Argyle sealed promotion with three games to spare. | :00:17. | :00:19.
The Pilgrims went into the game knowing that just one point would be | :00:20. | :00:22.
enough to guarantee League One football next season, | :00:23. | :00:25.
but they completed the job in fine style, thrashing Newport 6-1. | :00:26. | :00:29.
Andy Birkett got in amongst the celebrations. | :00:30. | :00:33.
Six long seasons of English football's fourth tier. | :00:34. | :00:40.
The threat of administration, the heartbreak of defeat at Wembley. | :00:41. | :00:43.
It's all just a memory now. Plymouth Argyle are going up. | :00:44. | :00:45.
Needing just a point to guarantee promotion, | :00:46. | :00:50.
they settled any nerves with goals on the stroke of half-time | :00:51. | :00:53.
In the second half, it became a procession as Argyle wrapped up | :00:54. | :00:59.
What a way to do it in front of nearly 14,000 supporters. | :01:00. | :01:05.
And I've seen promotions and these boys went to Wembley last | :01:06. | :01:11.
season, disappointment, but now, absolutely outstanding. | :01:12. | :01:14.
I think I was more excited than the boys, actually. | :01:15. | :01:17.
Amazing. Really good game to come to. | :01:18. | :01:19.
Six years in this division, and now we're finally out! | :01:20. | :01:28.
We are now ten minutes after the match and no supporters | :01:29. | :01:31.
Still around 15,000 here in the stands applauding | :01:32. | :01:39.
the players and the manager, who have come back out | :01:40. | :01:42.
These fans were told, "Keep the faith" after that Wembley. | :01:43. | :01:46.
Defeat, and hasn't their faith been repaid? | :01:47. | :01:49.
To seal it in that manner, I think is just moving | :01:50. | :01:51.
because the fans have been waiting for so long and it's great they've | :01:52. | :01:54.
put in a performance like that and sealed promotion. | :01:55. | :01:57.
It's obviously a fantastic club. Massive club here and we're | :01:58. | :01:59.
going into League One now. Can't wait for next season. | :02:00. | :02:01.
Promotion may be secured but with Doncaster losing | :02:02. | :02:06.
today, the gap at the top is only three points. | :02:07. | :02:09.
Promotion as champions has a nice ring to it. | :02:10. | :02:16.
Fishermen in the south west are being praised for the work | :02:17. | :02:19.
they're doing to help clean up our seas. | :02:20. | :02:22.
Marine litter and discarded fishing gear has been blamed for killing | :02:23. | :02:25.
But now the fishermen are working with charities and other industries | :02:26. | :02:30.
to tackle the problem as Eleanor Parkinson reports. | :02:31. | :02:34.
These fishermen are not just hauling up fish. | :02:35. | :02:37.
They have to sift through their catch to get rid of the rubbish | :02:38. | :02:43.
but they're not throwing it back overboard. | :02:44. | :02:45.
Instead, they put it in special sacks they've been given | :02:46. | :02:48.
and they bring it all back to port to put in a dedicated skip. | :02:49. | :02:52.
We bring in about two one-tonne bags every trip. | :02:53. | :02:55.
I do a six-day trip and I bring in two one-tonne bags a week. | :02:56. | :02:58.
And these are the bags that we give the fishing boats. | :02:59. | :03:01.
And if you look through the skip, you can find just about anything. | :03:02. | :03:04.
Somebody obviously not needing a kettle. | :03:05. | :03:07.
The bags on the boats are provided by a project | :03:08. | :03:10.
It's dangerous to be left in the sea, it's not good | :03:11. | :03:15.
for the marine environment and they are more than | :03:16. | :03:17.
The fishermen are also working hard to prevent ghost gear - | :03:18. | :03:22.
broken nets and ropes getting left at sea. | :03:23. | :03:25.
They see a bit of ghost gear floating in a water | :03:26. | :03:30.
So they swim over it, round it, under it, through it. | :03:31. | :03:36.
And it's the through it that gets them into trouble. | :03:37. | :03:39.
These nylon nets won't be thrown away. | :03:40. | :03:41.
They'll be recycled. They'll be sent to a factory | :03:42. | :03:44.
in Eastern Europe, where they'll be turned into nylon carpets. | :03:45. | :03:47.
And a Cornish company are using the recycled nylon | :03:48. | :03:50.
We make the range of swimwear and rash guards that | :03:51. | :03:56.
are particularly aimed at active watersport use, either wearing them | :03:57. | :04:00.
under wet suits or jumping around, moving in the water. | :04:01. | :04:03.
In the south-west, attitudes to marine litter are changing | :04:04. | :04:07.
but the threat still exists from other shores. | :04:08. | :04:10.
Ghost gear is often brought up into our seas on the Gulf Stream. | :04:11. | :04:14.
For the fishermen and the volunteers, their work continues. | :04:15. | :04:17.
Double Olympic gold medal winner Helen Glover from Penzance | :04:18. | :04:21.
and her TV presenter husband Steve Backshall have | :04:22. | :04:25.
raised more than ?60,000 after completing the Devizes | :04:26. | :04:27.
It took the pair 22 hours and 58 minutes to finish the challenge. | :04:28. | :04:33.
They're aiming to raise ?100,000 to help save an area | :04:34. | :04:36.
The Miniature Pony Centre on Dartmoor has welcomed its first | :04:37. | :04:42.
This little filly was born in the early hours of Easter Sunday. | :04:43. | :04:48.
The new arrival doesn't have a name yet but the centre is holding | :04:49. | :04:51.
a competition to find one, and the theme is British | :04:52. | :04:53.
Time for the weather now and here's Bee. | :04:54. | :04:58.
Skies already starting to clear out there. | :04:59. | :05:03.
A lot of the cloud left is starting to break up so it is going to be | :05:04. | :05:09.
We've got light winds, temperatures down into the low | :05:10. | :05:14.
single figures in some spots and I think some sheltered rural | :05:15. | :05:17.
spots could actually get down as low as 2 or 3 degrees. | :05:18. | :05:20.
So a chilly but bright start to the day tomorrow and it really | :05:21. | :05:23.
is going to be a beautiful day. Dry and bright, a lot of sunshine. | :05:24. | :05:26.
I think more sunshine than we've seen over the last couple of days. | :05:27. | :05:29.
Just a bit of fair weather cloud building at times | :05:30. | :05:33.
during the afternoon and I think temperatures will reflect | :05:34. | :05:36.
the sunshine - doing well with highs of 14 or 15 degrees. | :05:37. | :05:39.
It looks like it is staying largely dry for the rest of this week. | :05:40. | :05:42.
I think by day, we'll see plenty of sunshine | :05:43. | :05:44.
and light winds but by night, it will be cold and we'll see | :05:45. | :05:48.
the return of some frost. Have a good night. | :05:49. | :05:55.
We will see you for the breakfast bulletin tomorrow just before | :05:56. | :05:58.
6:30am. A fresh morning on the way tomorrow, | :05:59. | :06:17.
even some frost around, not necessarily two in city centres, but | :06:18. | :06:20.
in rural air is quite sharp, especially across Scotland, and | :06:21. | :06:25.
temperatures in some rural spots anywhere between minus four and | :06:26. | :06:32.
minus eight. Frost will be forming across | :06:33. | :06:41.
northern areas, just a few showers around for the next few hours across | :06:42. | :06:45.
East Anglia and possibly the south-east as well. Frost across the | :06:46. | :06:50.
North, air frost as well, outside of town temperatures in rural glen is | :06:51. | :06:53.
down to minus weight, but even down towards the south coast close to | :06:54. | :06:59.
freezing. By eight o'clock, not much frost around, but it still will be | :07:00. | :07:07.
on the fresh side, temperatures of 4 degrees | :07:08. | :07:08. |
