Our top story tonight: A man and two children are found dead

Their bodies were found sevdral hours after officers were c`lled to

a disturbance and to night the Independent Police Complaints

Commission has been called hn. Also tonight, a car that knocks down

guinea pig club, the patients who helped pioneer plastic surgdry.

And a milestone for a centrd that supports people with cancer. I have

met some amazing people herd, people I would never have met if I did not

have cancer. That is one of the plus side.

First tonight, two children and a man have been

found dead in a house in Hinckley in Leicestershire.

Police were called to the house last night after reports

An injured woman who left the house in the early hours has

been taken to hospital where she is in a stable condition.

Our social affairs correspondent Jeremy Ball is there for us now

to Welwyn Road in Hinckley after reports of a disturbance.

in a stable condition in hospital at this time.

At the time the officers were giving first aid, other officers entered

the address and they found ` male, who has been pronounced dead,

have also found two deceased children.

The family have been named locally as 43-year-old

A 21-year-old man has been `rrested after a car mounted the pavdment

and hit pedestrians in Leicdster city centre last night.

Four people were injured and a woman remains

in hospital after the inciddnt on Humberstone Gate in the city

It's been confirmed that a lerger between two major hospital

Nottingham's NHS hospitals `re no longer planning a takeover

Bosses say it's because thex need to focus on their own

It comes as Kings Mill Hosphtal s A department is praised

It would have created one of the biggest trusts

in the country, but now Nottingham Hospitals

and Sherwood Forest Hospitals Trust have called off a merger.

It is partly due to a change in fortunes.

In Nottingham A departments are struggling to see

patients within four hours, with one in four patients

It is a different picture at Kingsmill Hospital.

Two years ago they were the fifth worst trust in England

Across the whole system everyone is working differently and trying

to stop people coming to A by helping them in the commtnity

and when they are in A, trying to get them sorted ott

and for frail, elderly people trying to get them home where we c`n

with support from social care and other networks.

If they are admitted to hospital, it is trying to get everythhng

done quickly for them, so when they get their tests done

Staff say the introduction of the short-stay unit

here at the hospital a year ago has also been one

It is a unit for patients who come in via accident and emergency

and are thought to be able to be discharged within 72 hours.

The 81-year-old was admitted after collapsing at home.

The last time I came in there were very long waiting times.

I don't get the impression of it being so busy this time.

The doctors weren't running around, everything

While Sherwood Hospitals Trtst is still deemed as inadequate,

bosses say a merger is no longer necessary.

Both trusts have decided we have got significant challenges

Clearly from our perspectivd we have made fantastic improvements

in our quality and safety of the services we provide.

We are hoping to get a CQC inspection report in the very

near future and we know it is going to be positive.

Now the merger has been scrapped what does this mean

as we heard from the chief dxecutive from Sherwood Forest hospit`ls, they

are waiting for a report from the Care Quality Commission. Nottingham

hospitals are saying they are focusing on improving their

performance for emergency p`tients and they are addressing fin`ncial

challenges. They say they are still working in partnership, but we do

not know quite what Officers in what Derbyshire

93-year-old Sandy Saunders from his Royal Highness the Duke of

Edinburgh and the National Lemorial Arboretum in Staffordshire `nd a

monument dedicated to the gtinea pig club as its president. It h`s been

commissioned by Sandy Saunddrs, who suffered 40% burns as a pilot in

1945. I am quite ill and I thought if I did not do it, nobody dlse

would. The club was such an important feature of my lifd. I

thought it was important to convey the message of the club to future

generations. Sir Archibald LcIndoe said that the club in 1941 `s a

support club and drinking club. He had developed new techniques for

dealing with burns injuries and he was helping young men with life

changing disfigurements and today they gathered to pay tributd. It was

very apt and I hope it makes people enquire and read about Archhbald

McIndoe. It is very approprhate I think. It is an aircraft gohng down

in flames and I am only lightly toasted one, hands and torso, but

not my face. Surgeons to de`l with burns, was returning and endurance

of members should be remembdred always. On the left hand on the side

which faces the shade of his face. There are now only 17 surviving

members of the guinea pig club, but this monument means they will be

remembered for generations to come. Now, it's had an astonishing 50 000

people a day, offering such powerful practical,

social, and emotional support that the people who use the centre

call it a home from home. There was a proper party atlosphere

in the centre under Nottingham City Hospital site today, celebr`ting

has volunteered for all those five years, including the first xear when

his wife came here for love and care before she died.

brilliant, it is a lovely place I cannot believe we are here. What

She's the Nottinghamshire schoolgirl who's proved

an inspiration to the nation, picking up an accolade in front

of millions at this week's Pride of Britain awards.

Tilly Sawford from Bilborough has spent her life battling the results

of serious burns she sufferdd as a baby, even losing a leg.

But through the pain, she's been helping others too.

Carolyn Moses has been to mdet Britain's newly-crowned

And nine you will typically captured the hearts of millions, not to

mention a few celebrities, walking or fourth time her prosthethc leg

and head of awards. At 15 months old she fell into a scalding bath,

suffering 86% burns. No toddler had survived such intense injurhes, and

conceded. After hundreds of operations she now faces constant

physiotherapy. She had less than a 5% chance of survival and they said

she would not make it through the night. When she did they sahd she

would not pull through. She has been amazing and she has so much strength

in her and that keeps her going Smiling. You cope by smiling? What

makes you want to smile? My friends. And today those friends gavd her a

Hiro's welcome back at school. An avid singer, she has created a girl

band with friends, a band that got the attention of some famous judges.

You will be auditioning for us next year. What has inspired the likes of

Simon Cowell, Theresa May and her primary school colleagues is Tilly's

determination to help others, and racing for disadvantaged chhldren.

She is brave, it is amazing how she is surviving, it is extraordinary.

She is an absolute star and is a real inspiration to adults `nd

teachers. Lots of people thhnk you are brave. Do you think you are

brave? Along with the rest of the country. Very brave indeed. Now it

is time for the weather. It was a beautiful autumn d`y today

and many of us woke up to otr first proper frost of the season. Many of

us had to don our winter wardrobe this morning. But there werd

beautiful blue skies for much of the day today. But things are on the

move and we have had high pressure giving us that dry and bright

weather, but it is being shoved out of the way. This low pressure will

take time to reach us. We whll start off with a bit of frost and some

brightness in the morning, but the cloud will increase through the day.

The breeze will make it feel even colder tomorrow. Tonight we stay dry

and we have got clear skies at the moment, allowing the temper`tures to

take a tumble. A bit of clotd moves into the latter part of the night,

but it does not affect the temperatures. We will get down to

below freezing in those sheltered spots. A cold start tomorrow

morning, but we will not have those blue skies. The cloud will be

thickening up through the afternoon, so it is mostly dry for much of the

day, but the cloud thickens up and a few showers towards the end of the

afternoon. With less sunshine and a bit more of a breeze it will feel
